  1. It's not about acceptable or not, it's about you calling other players liars. I think 1 minute loading time is acceptable on large planets you'd spend hours on, and I don't really care if you think that's acceptable or not. However what I've proven is that your spec is not top of the line. Other players with faster HDDs in RAID-0 will still outstrip you in terms of loading speed, thus defying your assumption that they must be lying. ADD: I notice that your Write speed is not impressive. I lack evidence on this and have not investigated, but here is a possibility: is it not possible that during loading certain cache files have to be created? If that's the case then a significantly slower writing time will have an effect.
  2. Summary from data posted in the thread and some guesstimation: Small Area (Fleet/Ship): HDD 10-30 secs 2nd gen SSD: ~10 secs 3rd gen SSD: ~10 secs Normal Planet (Tatooine): HDD - 2 mins 2nd gen SSD: ~30 secs 3rd gen SSD: ~10 secs Heavy Planet (Corelia): HDD - 3 mins 2nd gen SSD: ~1 min 3rd gen SSD: 10-20 secs
  3. HDD, then GPU. Fortunately your motherboard fully supports 3rd gen SSDs.
  4. Small areas rely a lot less on speed of disk drive. In fact people with regular 7200rpm HDDs can achieve 10 seconds on Fleet/Ship if the rest of their spec is good. As said earlier, chances are you are using 2nd Gen SSDs, and players with 3rd Gen SSDs will have more than double your speed, ergo we get even faster loading time. That's not top of the line either. If some people are rich enough to afford hybrid drives, the loading speed may be even tinier.
  5. Already explained earlier. The content (in terms of size of data, not size of area or playable time) contained within a single planet rivals that of an entire continent in WoW. Without SSD you'd spend around 40-50 seconds loading a continent like Northrend, more so for EC or Kalim, without addons. Extra addons then slow down the loading time even more. I can imagine that the loading time may feel long for the average player with regular HDDs, but there is nothing that can be done about it for content that has already been created. There is no magical solution to simple raw massive size with the current infrastructure.
  6. Judging by the rest of your components, my guess is that you are using only 2nd gen SSDs, or at least your motherboard supports only up to 3Gb/s SATA Controller. In that case a 3rd gen SSD probably has more than double your speed (500-575 vs 200-275). Ergo the difference.
  7. Sounds like your CPU and/or GPU sucks, or there is some severe driver issue or damage to your components. The fact that you get extremely low fps indicates something is wrong in terms of your graphical processing, or you are completely over-estimating the power of your cards. If there is something wrong then, then consequentially it will affect your loading time significantly. Disk drive is important for loading, but there are other parts of loading involving RAM and GRAM as well.
  8. You didn't post your specs. That's the only thing I shall assume. For a thread clearly related to a computer's specs, the fact that you didn't post it means either: you have no idea what's inside your computer, or you aren't willing to reveal the specs.
  9. That's what I've been hearing about consular story. Apparently the Empire mirror Inquisitor's story on the other hand is one of the best for both LS and DS players.
  10. That 200 hours may include variations in planet/side quests depending on your class. A lot of the times NPCs from planet/side quests would address/react to your character very differently if you are, say, a bounty hunter as opposed to a Sith Warrior.
  11. You are certain you didn't accidentally press 2 and activate the power converter to shield? While that's active your blasters deals virtually no damage.
  12. He shall become more powerful than the police could possibly imagine in the prison.
  13. BioWare probably didn't think people would dress their companions in skimpy outfits. They really ought have known better.
  14. It's not a lie. That's how fast my loading is. The average is probably even lower, but so far Tatooine is the planet where my loading goes up to 10 secs. I am indeed using a SSD, and my dual HD5870s probably cut the graphical portion of loading to nothing as well. I am playing on a local Oceanic server though. Macs are never "godlike specced" for gaming. The weak GPU is going to slow down your loading as well, and a laptop CPU isn't going to be as fast as a proper gaming desktop's. I'm using a Vertex 3, which is slightly faster than an Agility 3 (550 vs 525). That may explain the small differences.
  15. Your computer sucks. Mine loads fine. Never seen a loading screen that lasted more than 10 seconds.
  16. Players were the delusional ones. BioWare added so many servers only because they caved in to the players' whining for "more servers" at launch, instead of staying true to their server allocation.
  17. That's just silly. They'd rather let you unsub than give you free game time, the latter of which actually cost them something.
  18. Macro is the best solution. Currently if I want to bind 4 skills to a single key with modifers (e.g. Q, Shift+Q, Alt+Q, Ctrl+Q), I'd need four slots. With macros I could bind all 4 skills to the same slot, but what's being cast when I press that slot depends on the modifier I'm currently pressing. Something like this (WoW macro): #showtooltip /cast [mod:shift] Flash of Light; [mod:ctrl] Divine Light; [modi:alt] Holy Shock; [nomod] Holy Light
  19. Either they charge you extra for a 30 day card, or it won't happen. Unlike online payments making and distributing a physical card is not free, as such only the 60 days version is available so that players pay for an extra month earlier at full price (while online you'd get discount for buying 3 months/6 months). If EA receives an extra month's subscription early, then they can invest that extra money for an additional month's return, thus justifying distributing 60 days physical cards. However if they charge 30 days physical cards at say.. $17 instead of $15, then people will simply not buy them. The higher price now gives them the incentive to figure out ways to pay online. As a result if EA distributes 30 day cards at the original subscription price they'd be making a loss on those cards, while distributing them at a higher price will only hurt their reputation and attract little sales. TLDR: Pay online, or live with 60 days cards.
  20. Same reason +defense appear on Strength or Cunning medium armors for Sent/Mara, Smuggler/Agent. It's also why Cunning Assault Cannons exist. Such cunning weapons. Happens everywhere. "Of the Boar", "Of the Wolf".
  21. You already get medal for "protecting" teammates with your "Guard" ability. Aside from that the majority of your role will be defending objectives, which also gives you medal if you stay at a node long enough. If damage taken will also give a medal, I can see it being abused by non-tanks. It's also unrealistic to limit a type of medal to one particular spec. In Huttball I imagine you will be a lot more useful.
  22. And there is a perfectly good reason why it's limited to the current number, and not a higher number. Why? Because you won't enjoy playing the game during its stress test condition. The limit because the server can only handle so much traffic without affecting the playing experience of players already on the server. Increasing the limit will worsen the experience for all the players on that server. Having queues is the lesser of two evils. The only way to increase capacity without affecting player experience is to get new hardware. That's expensive.
  23. I wasn't talking about server merging. I was talking about increasing a server's capacity.
