  1. Yes... so that a half decent player with a companion can solo them.

Indeed. That's the plan Bioware had in mind. Those heroics in their description even state "you MAY require a small group to do it" aka if you are terribly bad you might need another person but otherwise, you are fine solo.

  2. Where is this more informative than the old one?

When you come back to home and actually log in. You will understand.

The link to patch notes is easily visible on the launcher. More news can be fit into its window. Now they can advertise out of the game events like Cosplay Contest. They can advertise many other things since there is an infinite bar that you can browse through unlike in the previous launcher where you could have 2 news at max, one on the left side, the other on the right side.

  3. That's your opinion. For those of us who don't care all that much about story, or who have MANY alts, we don't want to be forced to do the same planet class every toon we level. *smh* Just because it fits for you, and what you like doesn't mean it's everyone's choice. Quit assuming. Way too much of that going on here on these forums.

You also assumed that this change affects me. So you failed.

I have done all the stories on both sides plus two other toons that I wanted. Half of them before X12 was introduced.

I'm saying it from the perspective of a new player unlike you. You are a player that only cares about his own needs and call the decision bad once it doesn't cater to your needs.

You have the possibility of buying instant 60s if you want level up your toons asap. Don't want to pay CC? Well, spend 40h on a character if you just want another alt at high level.

To quote more or less a wise guy from these forums:

One feature I don't like. I am going to threaten my money because an MMO should focus only around my needs. I can't be open minded, or understanding. I can't adjust my play style because I don't enjoy the game when they make one change I don't like. This change is enough to make me threaten the almighty dollar because my needs>the good for the game.

  4. You have x8 instead or something close to it since you still level up only through class stories + the main planet stories.

It was a great disservice for the original work to ignore the main planet quests. They added a lot to the game and lore like Dread Masters, Czerka and its findings on Infinite Empire, Thana Vesh, even romancing Darth Lachris who was Marr's apprentice.

Making x12 instead of x8 from the very beginning was Bioware's mistake. Not only people didn't get ready to play their class at the endgame, they also missed chunks of valuable stories. Getting to Oricon without meeting Dread Masters on Belsavis is an unnecessary skip that makes you wonder who Dread Masters are and why they talk to you like you met them before.

Class stories + main planetary stories are just perfection.

  5. Buying SoR was a reasonable choice in September but now 2 weeks before the KotFE release it would be a silly thing to do. You can finish SoR story on your first walkthrough in 7h-8h. Let's assume that you will do it in 2 days after KotFE release. That's just 2 days behind in comparison to people who already started KotFE. Not that bad.

Btw, the prologue to SoR wasn't a part of the expansion, right? Have you already done three flashpoints from the prologue?

  6. I love the idea behind level-sync.

However, making a poll before even trying the new system is not rational. Bioware will look at the feedback from everyone once KotFE hits the live servers. The forum posters are not the ultimate answer to how change the game.

    +

You can't take a poll titled "level sync" and get a true feel for the population. 1) most people who don't come to the forums don't ever care about things like this at all 2) most people don't even really get the concept of a level sync and 3) many people will change their minds once they see more of the reason for the change. Remember, we don't know why this change was made yet or what "level appropriate rewards" are yet.
  7. Ahh bummer. Guess I'm done when this runs out. That "plus the main planetary questline" sounds like a lot of crappy quests I have ZERO interest in doing 5 more times. Someone call me next time they do 12x exp for storyline..

Those "crappy quests" are better than some class stories. Jedi Consular is generally the least favourite story, especially his Act 1. I would always recommend to play either the planetary mission for Taris or Belsavis rather than Jedi Consular.

It's good that they nerfed XP from the class stories a bit. New players were missing out a lot of depth of the original setting. The planetary quests are fun when you play them for the 1st time and rather important to understand some parts of the game, e.g. meeting Dread Masters on Belsavis. A new player skips that mission at this moment and when he comes to Oricon he has no idea who they are and why they say they met him before. :)

  8. That would be helpful :D

    My guess:

Inquisitor - Artifice, Archeology, Treasure Hunting

Warrior - Artifice, Archeology, Treasure Hunting

    Agent - Armstech, Slicing, Investigation

Bounty Hunter - Armormech, Scavenging, Underworld Trading (we have already seen it)

    Consular - Biochem, Bioanalysis, Diplomacy

Knight - Synthweaving, Archeology, Treasure Hunting

Smuggler - Cybertech, Slicing, Underworld Trading

Trooper - Armormech, Slicing, Underworld Trading

  9. Someone on dulfy.net pointed out the description for the new heroic missions which has been ignored by people who jumped on the anti-levelsync bandwagon. It explicitly says This mission MAY require a small group.. It's rather obvious that if you have some basic idea about your class you should be fine with soloing heroics after 4.0 if you are level 50-65 scaled to low levels.

I would like to address everyone who made the argument about heroics not being soloable anymore that you should not be afraid.

The general "dumbification" of SWTOR is meant to keep even bad players in the game by making the solo content easy. Bioware wouldn't suddenly change that direction and make heroics hard for high level lone-wolves.

  10. Oh yeah because the exclusive costumes decide whether the game lives or dies

They haven't been promoted as the exclusive rewards for subscription. They have been part of the event. You haven't got the guarantee that they would remain exclusive forever.

Another dumb thread on this forum. Which one next?

  11. I am against it. :(

But the point is, nobody really likes to see their health/stats/damage/healing go up and down like a jojo.

I think the system has potential if they rechanged your health to 1 health/stat number across all the planets (in this way you can avoid confusion about your stats and avoid the feeling you loose something you worked (hard) for).

And as 2nd option if that is too much work then I would simply delete the silly and weird ability all our characters have when they are +5-10 levels higher then mobs they fight with, those abilities are called ''avoid/parried/deflect/dodge'' (I think! I am not sure anymore what all the names are).

If you are even higher then 10+ levels then you get unkilleable for mobs, it is almost like a cheat code. If you remove those ''avoid'' abilities and keep the stats then you get a bit more challenging fights from low level mobs but you can keep and enjoy the stats you worked hard for, especially at endgame level 60-65. There is for a lot of players otherwise no craving anymore to get best gear, or otherwise if you keep level sync then what is the point of even getting the best armor, the only thing you do it is to maintain at every level that you have the best stats to get buffed to the best stats everytime on lower level planets. I understand they want to give low level planets a boost, but the way they do it now is weird and will not be loved by a lot of people I am afraid.

Like I said it needs some redisign and once that is done they should ask us if we like it, by asking us to vote in a poll.

Much better then just to say nothing and suddenly surprise us with this 2,5 weeks before early access.

    Greets!

I stopped reading after that sentence. You =/= Everyone. Change it to "I don't like to see my health ..etc." Then we can talk. Unnecessary generalizing and dramatizing doesn't give pros nor cons of the change.

  12. Level sync brings nothing to the table. All it means is that it'd make completing quests a lot harder or even impossible because you can no longer outlevel a quest you are struggling with then come back to it.

If you don't have eyes and play the game, you will obviously lose. THE GAME IS EASY. Bioware is constantly changing the hp and damage of mobs on the older planets. They have already been nerfed two times. I STRONGLY believe that even bad people playing with three skills will be able to pass their quest.

All what you said is BS. The quests won't be "a lot of harder". They will be EASY, just not GOD MODE easy.

You say it's useless and to cancel it. Clearly you have nothing to bring to the table except your whining and dramatizing. All you said about quests "impossible to complete after level-sync" is taken straight out of bantha's rear. Multiple advatanges of level-sync have been posted here and there and all what you said is just a lame assumption about "hard" difficulty for people that have no idea about their character.

  13. There goes my biggest concern. But now I'm curious how the CM certificate issue will be handled. Will they still be in packs? Will those of us who have a bunch stockpiled have anything new to spend them on?

Also, the pricing. Since packs will now contain less, will prices drop?

Logically speaking if new packs don't have reputation it means they won't drop the cartel certificates. Just like the shipment 1 doesn't have reputation and because of that there is no reason to make them drop the cartel certificates.

  14. Also HK-51 is the best companion DPS in the game.

Lies. He's the smartest because he doesn't break CC but his DPS is inferior to dps melee in their DoT stance. HK will be actually buffed.

    Parsing:

Parses done with 1000-1007 presence and full Yavin 4 companion gear and level 60:

Melee DPS in DOT stance 1710

Melee DPS in AP stance 1300

Gault in Single Target stance 1180

    HK 1065

Xalek in DPS gear and dps stance 1040

Treek in DPS gear and Tank stance 1030

Ranged DPS in Single Target stance 1000

Treek in Heal Stance 940 (drops to 610 if healing)

Dr Lokin in DSP stance 850

2V-R8 in heal stance 800 (drops to 385 if healing)

    Tank in Tank stance 770

Healer is DPS stance (and carb off) 730

    Revan Fight Parse:

    Melee DPS DOT stance 2500-2900

Gault in Single Target 2250 (pyro spec player)

    HK 1700

  15. That's because many players are off the game at the moment. At least from the regular ones. Just thinking about my guild: We currently have only 3 or 4 players logging in at all. The rest (some dozens) are taking a break, waiting for KotFE. They will eventually find about all this.

It sounds like they got bored of the game, so they will only do new content and leave again waiting for another chapters. They left while there was no level-sync. It says enough. The addition of level-sync won't worsen that and actually might to keep a few of them. Nothing to lose in these circumnstances.

  16. Vaylin's robe, shows her long hair, despite the hood, and as we're all currently aware of, the current hooded/robe designs are lazy and arbitrarily show your character with no hair (bald headed if you play with the camera).

It begs the question: Can we hope for a redesign on PREVIOUS hood/robes to display hairstyles (perhaps even cue for new hairstyles in 4.0) whilst wearing the hood?

Have you played Black Talon? ;) Do you remember Captain Orzik? http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Revinal_Orzik

He has hair under the cap. Both Vaylin and Orzik are NPCs with their specific models having hair under the hood/cap. Players won't be getting hair under hoods in 4.0

  17. So being a level 60, I will get 1 xp from level 30 npc, it says "appropriate for being a level 60"

Your reading comprehension is at the level of Coruscant sewers. Being a level 60 and killing a mob on level 30 will give you experience equal to killing a mob on level 60. That's what "appropriate for being level 60" means.
