  1. The thing is this very process has been in the game since reputation was introduced with the Return of the Gree in patch 1.7 back in Feb. 2013. You could run the Gree event on every character, hit the max rep for week and keep collecting tokens as you keep playing the event. I did this on every character I had that could run the event every day and was using rep tokens for 6 weeks after the event ended just so I could get to legendary to get access to the first true legacy modifiable weapons and offhands as quickly as possible. I've been maxed on the Gree reputation since April 2013, I still enjoy doing the event once and while, just depends on what I am doing when it comes around. EA/BW never stopped the ability to stack up rep tokens all these years so I don't see how it could be an exploit, they've known about this since the beginning, intended or not they left it working that way. The weekly cap just slows you down on getting the reputation track ranks and access to any special vendors, not collecting the tokens you earn by completely missions. If the weekly cap stopped you from earning tokens then that would be a reason to stop playing the event since you are no longer getting rewarded with one of the main reasons to do the events. They could have changed or removed the weekly cap, the effect would be the same in end. In fact they did nothing about this token collection even after conquest was introduced and the conquest points for using a daily reputation token was set at such a high amount and has been that way for years. Why did it become such a problem now that the points needed to be nerfed? I have my thoughts. Add me as one more that is not happy with this stealth nerf and reasons given and after 12 years as a subscriber, this is one more "bad decision / response to player feedback" straw added to the camels back, and it's cracking if not breaking. For first time I am reconsidering the state of my subscription going forward.
  2. 100% this. And APAC players should first access to the server for at least a week before anyone else. There was no need to mix both a fresh start server and region server into one. If they wanted a fresh start server to use a test bed as they were trying to use SV, they should have spun one up specifically with that indication and all the restrictions and left SV as a regional server no different than any other region server. They really dropped the ball on this whole deal in so many ways but then again seems to be par for the course over the years that they don't learn from a bad decisions and keep the cone of silence going. (the rep token nerf as yet another recent example).
  3. If one got the free transfers to use it is best to get them done early as possible before the 11th if planning to transfer at all. However many like myself, missed out getting the free transfers because of a less than 1 hour gap in subscription (I've been a continuous sub since 2012) and BS has done nothing fix that, Along with not really doing anything to help out or support the APAC players that should have been able to transfer a long time ago for free regardless of sub status and without restriction and should have been given first access to server before any others since it is their region server.
  4. I've had this happen a lot years ago and finally stopped it from happening. It would happen to me most of time due to activating push-to-talk using the left Ctrl key while moving or using key binds that were tied to the numpad. Turned out to be an issue with locking in movement due to arrow keys. So since I don't use the arrow keys for movement or anything I unbound all references to the arrow keys as well as any secondary binding for movement that might reference the numpad keys of 2,4,6,8 since they can convert to arrow keys as well. Since I did that, I haven't had the autorun/autoturning disease happen for a few years now.
  5. @jackyjaggy Hey, thanks for asking but unfortunately I no longer have any of the RD-31A chest pieces left.
  6. Are you escaping out of the conversation once you do the exchange of notes for rep tokens? If you are that is the reason. In order to make the exchange stick you will need to go through the conversation options to exit the conversation normally. Option 7 and then 5 normally.
  7. I have a couple of the RD-31A artifact chest pieces (one medic, one striker) in storage on Star Forge that I can trade / sell, so if you haven't found one already, let me know.
  8. One thing I want to ask after watching the stream is why lock the set bonus to the shell? That pretty much makes all existing legacy gear in the game worthless other than use an appearance. Why not make the set bonus another type of slot in the gear that could then be moved to the whatever legacy gear you want to use as your "set" gear.? This would really help in identifying your gear sets the legacy bay when swapping or using gear on multiple characters.
  9. I do not doubt this at all! Besides why would they want to do anything that benefits the Customer. Considering how often they request feedback and then ignore anything we say that goes against what they think. ie the new gearing for 5.10 and slot bound mods and enhancements they are ignoring.
  10. The mission is still not fixed as of 5.10. Is it ever going to get fixed to give us back the Grand Chance Cube?
  11. very true on this indeed. Sitting with 36 alts at 300+ with another about to hit 300 this week and 5 more in early tier 3.. I've Collected over 53000 UC's with very little pvp/gsf. Spent over 33000 so far building my legacy raid gear sets that I share for all alts (just need to finish up 4 sets) and upgrade left hand sides for several of mains that I use in harder content. Soon I'll finish up the remaining legacy sets and more left hands with 20k I have currently built up, when I decide to spend time working on gear. Doing all the weeklies and running ops really moves toons through the GC now especially when there is double cxp event. Speaking of which, need another one of those Not that I needed all my current 70 alts to 300 rank, it was just a nice little achievement goal to do while waiting for new content or in between working on the Gods from the machine op with the guildies.
  12. I ran into this today as well with both my main account and a second account on Star Forge. All the characters are logged out in same stronghold (Tatooine) for my main account and nothing CS could do on the phone other than escalate a ticket up and have me put in a ticket as well. So now it is just a waiting game just to be able to log into my characters just to play.
  13. Agreed with the planetary heroics were changed to have a transport to them from the terminal they were only doable once but that changed with the daily planetary mission section of GC including how Voss is treated. Suggesting to give each planet a weekly for completing the heroics like Voss doesn't mean to limit them to only once per week. It means to have them treated just like Voss. Do them once with a weekly for a little extra, then you can continue doing them the rest of the week as normal as part of the GC Planetary Mission Daily. But agreed given the track record of how sometimes EA/BW changes effect things in a negative way, and that would be a problem. But it would be nice to have the additional bonus for each planet for variety.
  14. Not true, Voss has a weekly and you can continue to the four Voss Heroics each day, including the GC daily for Voss. Voss is the only planet that offers a weekly for doing the heroics. All the other areas that currently have a weekly are non-heroic dailies plus 1 heroic mission, and all of these are part of the daily GC for planetary missions. Makeb has a weekly but it is not connected to the heroics for Makeb nor is it part of the GC daily. The only heroics that can only be done once per week are Tython, Hutta, Korriban, Ord Mantell, Ilum and Makeb as these are not part of the daily GC option.
  15. Agreed, and while they are at it, why not boost the Voss weekly as well, it only takes 3 of the heroics to complete the GC daily but all 4 to get the weekly. It should offer like 4000 cxp for the weekly. How about adding a weekly for each planet to do the heroics for that planet similar to Voss and get a boosted CXP once per week per character for each planet's heroics. This way there would be more variety.
  16. Buying gear previous to 5.0, crystals and warzone comms of course for starters. Prior to that there was a time when they mailed each character a starter set of PVP gear with full expertise, And they gave you tionese crystals at one point to buy a full starter set with set bonus gear for PVE as mentioned by AscendingSky. I remember those times because I have been playing that long. Why would I stop if I was having fun just because I had top tier BIS gear. Not true. See Tionese comment. Me too. I will not grind that much. I have tried to play all of characters as normal, but that nagging is there about not focusing on my "main" or at least only my "main" class. My highest command rank is 24 all the way down to 3 still on 1. Average command rank is 9. Total of 265 crates opened so far, with a 60% disintegration rate. Been keeping blue to at least try to build workable sets, and of course the few usable purple set bonus pieces, relics and other left hand side stuff. How about playing the game and being able to enjoy whatever you want to do without having to worry about a gear barrier being there. As I have said before I do not play this game to get gear. I sure some do. I don't. Gear is a tool, nothing more, but a tool I need to be able to do what I want to be doing. Without the right tools, I cannot survive as tank due to incorrect mitigation or lack of hit points, reach the dps I need to reach to help my group beat the enrage timer or heal the group through a difficult phase. If they or anyone in my opinion thinks that gearing is the main reason people are continuing to subscribe and play this game they are mistaken. And forcing a gear grind as the mechanism to keep people subscribed is and has back fired. I have witnessed it firsthand with losses to the guild I am in and the potential loss to come including me. As it has become extremely frustrating as gear has becomes a focus when it shouldn't I don't want gear to just be handed out, especially not top tier, but also shouldn't be so hard either, it shouldn't take like 8 months to gear one character or a super focused grind of the same repeated content. Do the content get the reward, not do the content and get nothing because RNG says not now. This grind, the CXP and Command Crates and current gearing is a punishment not a reward for subscribers - The PAYING customer, in my opinion, and many others I have talked with over the last several months. Same as it has been. The fun of beating the other team. Why does there have to be a carrot? Or if there is one, why do we have to get beat with the stick it dangles from just for trying to get to the carrot? When the bolster for 5.0 was set to put everyone at the ilevel of 250, gear was not a problem. Now it is since they dropped the bolster to ilevel 232. That once again puts the focus of play on getting gear and that is the wrong focus. Focus should be on playing the game and having fun, not gear. Yet this CXP grind is gear focused.
  17. Thanks I think I have been listening to a lot of friends and guild members discussing this grind about what they like, don't like etc. And generally it is all negative but also many have thrown ideas around about how to make it right or better or what it would take to bring them back to the game. As a software developer it is one of the things I have always tried to do in working on something to keep in mind not only what I am trying to code but also how the end user (customer) is going to interact with the software / feature and what expectations they will have from it. A lot of time what one sets out to do is not actually what the user wants even if it is what they might need. I would have argued against this CXP grind gearing system from the get go not just because I am a player of this game but because I could have seen how it would adversely affect the player(s) in a lot of ways that doesn't seem like it was even considered. Yes it is good an anyone can get top tier BIS gear eventually from doing anything in the game by earning CXP and crates, but it should have never been the main way to gear and it should not have been implemented with the removal of getting gear from unassembled tokens from OPS or purchasing gear via a PVP currency especially considering that gear is now a major factor in PVP . It also should not have done in such a way as to cripple playing alts in an game that promoted playing many many alts. One of the biggest thoughts I have every time I log in as well many of those I play with is which character I HAVE to play now to get CXP/crates and higher command rank on when it should be what character would I like to play today. It's bad right now even more with the current increase as now it even more punishing to say go level an new alt when all I think of is all the time that takes away from grinding on my "main" characters CXP. That should never be the way one looks at a game, it is not fun. At a minimum the crates should be dropping unassembled tokens to handle duplicates and helping with gearing alts. Plus getting the Tier 1 gear should be quick to make sure even new players are at a good point quickly. I can say for certain if I had just started playing this game today I would never have subscribed after seeing the grind required just to maybe get the end game gear one would need to do more challenging content.
  18. I personally have 35 characters out of 38 possible on my main server as it stands right now. I have about 110 across all servers. The maximum I could get is 52 if I bought more character slots. As it stands, gearing up under the current system is impossible for all the characters I like to play (and that is just the 35 currently). Even using legacy gear at a minimum I have to have 14 legacy sets to cover the 7 pieces of sharable gear + 6 off hands that can be shared for all classes / specs. (I prefer to not share visible weapons and off-hands as each character gets their own look this way) it will take longer than I will give this current grind to gear up as I don't play one character exclusivity. This does not include the additional gear or sets I would need for PVP gearing differences. In 3.0 / 4.0 I was able to complete a weekly worth of PVP or do PVP while leveling and get a full set of 204 PVP gear for a character when they hit level cap. I was also able to buy everything I needed for PVE gear at that point so the character could be used in my ops groups etc. Now not even a possibility. I know bolster exists for story mode operations and gear is not an issue generally there but it doesn't for Hard (veteran) mode or higher so I cannot currently return to doing the operations I was doing before because gear and this lame grind are now a barrier to playing how I want to play. I agree with Tux that the 230 gear should be quick and easy to get period. After that it can slow down. I am not asking for T2 and T3 gear to handled out like candy but I am asking for playing the game to be fun not a second job. And right now that is exactly how it is feeling to me and most of my guild mates and friends, many of which have stopped playing and dropped their subscription or will soon unless this things change drastically. As far as the x10 increase in UA's from PVP and GSF, even with that done, after completely my weekly pvp on one character last week including doing 3 GSF matches in between that character only got a total of 41 UA's. So two days worth of play time in PVP and I cannot buy a piece of gear. At x10 I could at least get maybe 4 pieces or upgrade one or two. While some may like a slow grind to get gear, others do not. Different play styles have to be supported or those that don't match the current on going grind play style will be gone and that will affect all of us. Already has. I do not play this game to get gear. I play the game with friends to have fun in challenging ourselves in group content or see the story and try out different approaches to that story. The game now is about playing to get gear before you go back to doing what you were doing 4 months ago. Gear is a tool not the goal. I need to tool to reach the goal. Why do I have wait for the RNG to decide when I have my tools before I can try for the goal?
  19. Increasing the unassembled components by x10 and giving them for all missions not just pvp/gsf and putting unassembled tokens back on all bosses of an operation as a 100% drop would fix this mess completely. I also think that the RNG crates should be dropping unssembled tokens instead of the actual gear to help with gearing of alts and handling duplicates. Doing this so that the RNG crates are not the primary way to get gear would actually bring back several guildies and friends to the game and keep many of us on the verge of leaving. The command rank and RNG crates should have been a secondary reward for playing the game and getting gear/cosmetics etc not the primary way to get end game gear. It would have still helped those that didn't run ops or pvp and would not have run all so many. Faster CXP and more RNG crates just means faster and more disappointment as 70-75% everything I got last night was trash and destroyed for more CXP. Why they don't abandon this bad experiment for end gaming gearing , I have no idea but frankly getting tired of feeling like we are being strung along to keep our subs going making us think and hope it is going to get better, when it isn't. As it is, if the grind remains without a major change like above, then even my days are numbered after 5 years of being a constant sub, and I really don't want that to happen, but everyone has their breaking point.
  20. Didn't say it was easy But it was a example of a way to get top tier set bonus gear piece that was not an operation or a nightmare boss. And I ran it so many times I lost count. A challenge I still look back on and remember fondly as it was so awesome when you completed it. But then again back then running hard mode flashpoints were pretty much required to gear up for story mode operations unlike more recent times when flashpoints became nothing in the progression and could be ignored. Anyway gaining crates of things to destroy for more CXP faster does not solve the gearing problem of RNG, just means more trash and/or duplicates to wade through hoping for a usable piece of gear. Leaving us frustrated and annoyed and feeling like we are wasting our time. The crates should be dropping unassemebled tokens to handle duplicates and gearing alts Everything* should be dropping unassemebled components so everyone can work towards a specific piece of gear to fill in the gaps or poor RNG punishment and not have to do things in game they don't want too like PVP or operations. And unassemebled components should be legacy bound and a true LEGACY perk should exist for increase all characters in the legacy CXP gain not some overly priced character perk. I and many others have too many characters to make this characters perk usable or affordable. Someone needs to understand what Legacy perk is compared to character perks. Very Very different things. BW said we were getting a legacy perk but what we got was a character perk. Not the same thing. And these changes should have been made weeks ago. *when I say "everything" I mean it. If a mission is completed it should award unassemebled components. That way no one is forced to play something they have no desire to do just to help get the gear they need.
  21. How far back do you want to go? In 1.2, hard mode Lost Island final boss dropped the Rakata chest piece (set bonus top tier). So there is a place a non-operation non-nightmare boss dropped top tier gear.
  22. Absolutely agree with this but to add one more change to it. The crate should drop the unassembled token instead so that duplicates can actually be made useful and there is no reason to have to remember to switch disciplines just to make sure you are getting the gear you need. That way when you get a second set of boots you can trade them in for a piece of gear that supports either your second discipline or for use on an alt.
  23. This is one of the reasons I have mentioned before that every activity one does should give out the unassembled components like PVP warzones is going to give so everyone can work toward specific gear and not rely on the RNG to give them the piece(s) they need. So each flashpoint boss, each uprising boss, each GSF match, PVP warzone, daily mission, operation boss, etc, needs to give these components out. Why should those that run flashpoints but not ops or pvp not have a way to go a specific piece of gear. Set bonuses and better gear is needed for some of the harder flashpoints. (master mode Bloodhunt, Battle of Rishi to name a few) Having operation bosses only have a chance to drop an gear token is not acceptable to many I game with as we all see the final boss being the only guaranteed token as something at is going to cause a lot of fighting over that one token. There is too much reliance on RNG for end gaming gearing! Too much grind involved just to get back to doing the activities we all were doing 2 months ago without difficultly. In my opinion and based on talking with friends and guild members since 5.0 dropped, some of the ideas that have been given that is needed to fix the mess is: Revert operation bosses to dropping unassembled tokens not just a chance to drop one Give out Unassembled Components for all activities (GSF, PVP) or bosses (Operations, flashpoints, uprising) Increase the drop rate of set bonus pieces in the command crates and reduce the dropping of green 228 gear. Get rid of reputation tokens for activities you can do in the game from the command crates (Voss, Oricon, Section X, Yavin, Rishi, KDY) etc... Players can do those activities to get reputation and most veteran players are legendary already
