  1. A bit of an amplification from the last post... At level 6, the only players you will come across are in your faction. If you want to fight them, you have to request a duel and they need to accept. When you get to the 4th planet, Nar Shadda, you will see players of the opposite faction.
  2. Lets show our friends at Bioware Austin how much we like their game. I'll go first.
  3. I like the variety of different mechanics, play styles and story lines. I can do, pretty much, whatever I feel like doing. If I feel particularly evil, break out the sorc. If I want to save the galaxy from evil, the guardian. If I want a spot on an ops team, I go with a sage healer (that's the only thing I can do with competence). If I feel competitive, any class PVP. If I feel like mindlessly killing things, any class space missions. That's the thing, why chose one when you can have it all? Good luck!
  4. Gear is a big part of the ops runs but I think what really helps is the group you get with. My guild took me on my first few ops runs and my chest piece was still my level 49 gear (recruit gear gave me a net loss on that piece). They calmly and patiently explained all mechanics of what was going on. I am now in an assortment of battle master, BH and one Columi piece. If your guild is mostly PVP, ask around and find an experienced group who will show you the ropes. Be sure to be using voice, its just so much easier that way. If you're on the Jedi Covenant, send me a PM and you can go on one of our runs.
  5. The good news is that you don't necessary have to spend any credits for stuff at level 50. Recruit gear is free (more on that below) and if you have some WZ commendations you earned on your way up, you can get a couple of battle master pieces as well. To get the free recruit gear, go to the PVP mission terminal on the fleet and pick up all the missions. One of them will say something like "we are issuing enhanced equipment for all font line personnel" or something like that. Once you pick up the mission, the terminal right next to it will become click able. Click it and it will offer you one of 2 boxes for each of your advanced classes or a token that you can take to your recruit gear vendor. If you have top of the line level 49 gear, the recruit gear will give you little to no bump except in the area of expertise. You can then run the level 50 war zones and work on getting battle master or war hero gear. You can also run HM flash points to get Tionese, Columi and BH gear. You can also run dailies and weeklies on Ilum, Belsavis and the black hole to earn commendations to by level 50 PVE gear. Good luck. Let us know what server you play on and maybe a helpful person can show you the ropes of level 50 stuff.
  6. Finding a full time questing buddy can be hard because you are looking for someone who has your level of interest in the game and your exact schedule. As the previous poster said, your best bet is to join a guild. For you, the bigger the better so there are more people to choose from. You will probably want a casual/social guild (the hardcores don't tolerate real life commitments all that well). Also, try to join a guild with voice chat. This will help you get to know your guild better and you can make some online friends that will be willing to help you. Good luck to you!
  7. Technically speaking, no, Mr Butkus always had 10 other Chicago players on the field with him. However, at least 4 of them were only doing 50% of their job. So yeah, they did say "Dick go out there and prevent the other team from scoring with this bunch pansies that are afraid to hit and only want a win if it is handed to them."
  8. I put all of my characters on the same server so I don't have this problem. Therefore I am better than all of you and call your server transfer idea a silly thing!
  9. Thanks for respectively disagreeing with me and lucidly explaining your position. I do realize there is a point where all hope of a win is lost and as "stand still to heal" class I am more than familiar with the frustration that comes with the "insta-gank" dog piles. However, one thing I have noticed is that when the hopeless point is reached in WZ, the team with the win in the bag will, likewise, ease up. I just wish there was a brave tank and/or DPS that would charge into the fray and let me lay down some heals for him/her. We might even get a couple of medals or kills out of it. Sure, we'll probably get our butts delivered to our houses COD but no one can say we didn't try.
  10. Exactly! Try something! Anything! If you're that far behind, what do you have to lose? You don't even have to pay a repair bill after a WZ.
  11. Surprised we haven't seen Laurence Taylor brought up yet. I'm a Derrick Thomas fan myself.
  12. Translation: Your comparison of a professional athlete to SWTOR PVP is illogical therefore I am justified in giving up and assuring my team's loss when it might be too hard to win. Butkus put his health and well being on the line. Even if he hadn't, he still would have been paid. What does it cost you to try to win a WZ even if a win seems impossible? Nothing.
  13. All I am saying is that it costs a player absolutely nothing to play a WZ. So why quit when the other team is better than yours? Afraid of a challenge? The quitters are probably the same people who gripe that leveling 1-50 is too easy. One thing I can say for sure is; if a team gives up because it looks like it is too hard to win, that will always lose. Do you only want a WZ victory if it is handed to you on a silver platter?
  14. I assume his parents wanted him to learn how to fight. I'm gonna name my kid Gaylord Rasputin and show up to school in my bathrobe. He'll win 96 UFC titles in a row and I will be set for life!
  15. Tell me about it. I have a level 50 sage and a 48 Sorc. I can only cast my heals when I have line of site of the target and I have to stand still, a death sentence in WZ's. The other night I was in NC and 6 of my team mates were "guarding" the western cannon. We were losing 36% to 100%. A Sentential was charging into to the south, where I believe all 8 imps were. I followed him in and threw down as many heals on him as I could. They quickly dispatched us both, although, I think the managed to get a couple of kills. Then we would start all over and just charge in. We must of done that 10 times before the WZ was over.
  16. He would have gotten paid regardless of the quality of his play. Just like you will get XP, credits and maybe some medals weather you quit or not. If you are going to quit because the rest of your team quits then you lose the high ground to gripe and become just as much of a drag on the team as they are. 3 things I can't stand; warm beer, wet toilet paper and a quitter. What amazes me is you seem to be justifying quitting on a WZ because you aren't getting paid.
  17. We've all been there. We Q up for a WZ and find ourselves on team that is actively trying to lose the WZ in record time. If fact, we find that language is too simplistic of a devices to accurately describe this team's special level of suck. This is no excuse for a PVP player worth his salt to just give up and start behaving like the team he finds himself on. Let me tell you about another guy who was on a terrible team; he was an American football player. He played for 9 seasons and his team never once made the playoffs. This man never lowered his standards to match the unfortunate company he kept. One year, his team won only a single game and this man was named defensive player of the year. One NFL films commentator described him as "Moby Dick in a gold fish bowl". In 2010, the NFL released a list of its 100 greatest players of all time and he was selected number 9. His name is Dick Butkus, the single most feared line backer to ever get on a football field. So if you like PVP and really care about winning, just decide that you are going to be Dick Butkus in every WZ. Fight to the very last second no matter how impossible the odds. Don't lower your standards to the team you find yourself on.
  18. I guess I am in the minority when I say I love the game no matter the population. When I feel like solo play, I turn off chat. When I feel like grouping up, I seek out a group. When I feel real competitive, I Q up for a WZ. When I want to mindlessly kill things, I go on a space mission. Most importantly, when I don't feel like playing, I don't play. Its my money and my free time. There have been a lot of changes since launch some I like others I didn't. I've learned to adapt to all of them. Yes, I am willing to get along with anyone so long as they are willing to get along with me.
  19. Is that per vote or only for the person who gets the most MVP votes in the WZ or their team?
  20. Click this link: http://www.swtor.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=309 Select your server. There will be many recruitment threads. If you're on the Jedi Covenant, send me a PM and I will get you into a great guild!

  22. Its true, man! Join light/dark holiday and get free toast!
  23. My sorc and sage both have an ability to pull a party member out harms way and land them right next to me. This comes in real handy for the fleet datacron run and when I am grouped with someone who wants to show off their rocket boots.
  24. Would you care to elaborate on why this might not be a good idea?
  25. Yeah, you're gonna need to go ahead and throttle back saying nice things about SWTOR. This forum is for egotistical narcissistic yahoos bloated with self importance who aren't getting what they think is owed to them.
