  1. what i do is level an imp toon to lvl 15 & park him in Nar shaddah. On my repub side, I prk a lowbie alt at nar shadah as well. when i want to pass cash or items to either side, I mail it to the respective alt and he posts it up in the neutral market & my other alt buys it and mails it to whichever toon needs it. it's a lot less complicated than it sounds
  2. In fact I'm sure you have that option as darkside as well but the context for it becomes completely lost or you may not even have that option because the Sith Lord would be pretty pleased with your dark side options up to that point. As far as I remember, every situation we find ourselves in as a BH was in a situation of combat and warfare. The repub and Imps are fighting a war; it's just not open warfare and it's just not officially declared. Nearly every republic soldier I've encountered in game as an NPC will try to kill me on sight, whether I attack them or not. If we are to take that literally, then it's pretty clear the soldiers deployed in Star Wars are in a constant state of warfare. The very fact that the Trooper story line clearly shows the republic troopers in acts of warfare against imperial targets show we are in a state of warfare. I would even go so far as to say that the troopers, when you play them, you get the sense that they are one of the good guys, but they, more than the BH, cause moer havoc, destruction and death as well as imperil the peace treaty. Troopers are bad people as depicted in game. Even the common trooper will shoot imperials on sight. in our world, I would agree. In Star Wars, i disagree. Eidolon security isn't a "civillian" police force. The only thing that makes them "civillian" is that they aren't a government police force like Corsec. Eidolon is a personal mercenary police force and it's anythign but civillian. It's a private military hired out to whoever can pay. They also will shoot you on sight even if you're there just scavenging for craft materials and happen to be in their vicinity. I have found the story quite consistent in my alignment choice and rarely if ever felt that it was flip flopping.
  3. Also, I think many people think of light and dark as "good and Evil" when it is possibly more. When I played my BH as full lightside, it proves that it isn't just about good vs evil but in the BH case, it's also about a sense of honor, discipline and a type of warrior code. That is Why if you play darkside, Torian will hate your guts. He's Mandalorian and they aren't evil as a peoples even though they have a tradition of hiring themselves out as mercenaries. They have a warrior code of honor. Like if you kill a disarmed, injured opponent, you get dark points and Torian will get minus points. It's dishonorable. When I played my lightside BH, "lightside" for my character was very much a code of honor and it played out like that in the story. In fact, there are points in the story where choosing lightside actions gets you respect from other warrior species. Many of the BH's dark side decisions are nothing short of pure acts of cowardice or just sheer sith-like in its lack of any sense of warrior's honor code. Keep in mind that the story clearly points out that our character see's themself as a warrior first. Choosing the path of honor (light) isn't so strange here.
  4. The only reason to ever get (companion named) gear is for the look. They are fully able to use any armor for their class type. If the item is class restricted, companions can't use it even if they are the same class. For example: Boots that say "trooper only". Even if your companion is a trooper, he can't use it. Any class specific item, they cannot use. Luckily most items don't state any specific class. That is why a jedi can wear trooper armor or vice versa. also, your companions can't use items from lightside/darkside vendors as they don't gain light/dark.
  5. you know what is maddening is the way you're railroaded by BW into these situations even against yor chosen responses (or not given the option) while they completely exclude female to female romance. It reeks of a developer dictating what can or cannot constitute a proper romance. If they can force an unwanted romance on us because they assume that's what we want, then they should be able to easily allow a female/female or heck, even male/male relationship. My female toons are sick of getting hit on by the guys on my ship. Even on my bounty hunter, i get these creepy come-ons from out of nowhere from guys who have like 10 affection when my female companion is maxed out affection (with not even a flirt option). Check out this completely unwanted dialogue: Torian: You know... I've been watching you in action for a while now. And what a nice sight it is. what... the... f....
  6. You can get a black set (at least gloves & chest) from the Maelstrom FP. It's primarily black and I'm pretty sure there are other pieces somewhere that fit it. Also, you have to keep in mind, we're troopers. We only come in standard white or black and the game does well to represent that. Colours are used just as accents. Bounty Hunters have sets that are more fully coloured; Red, Green, Blue, Gold, Brass, Brown
  7. vanguard is actually a pretty well rounded class. you use pretty much every ability with a good mix of cooldowns. Damage is quite good even in full tanking spec. Commandos can be very heavy hitter dps and use fewer abilities than the vanguard simply because this advanced class has many of its best abiltiies tied into one or 2 abilities with a few chaining off procs of these main abilities; they also have basic heals even if you never spec in the heal tree. Commando are very straightforward to play. Basically, fights don't last long enough to use many abilities in he first place. They lack disrupts but they have a long CC that vanguards completely lack which makes some fights near impossible or horribly difficult for the vanguard regardless of which tree you take. A lack of disrupt on my commando is a major annoyance at worst but a lack a credible CC on my vanguard is just... harsh.
  8. no fooling necessary. I got my wife (then GF) into DAOC because that was the best way we could spend time together and with our friends. From that point on, I ALWAYS have to buy 2 game copies of everything even if she ends up not playing it. It helps to explain that you can spend quality time doing a shared activity together. set her computer up near yours so you can chat with her about things. It doesnt help if you and her sit in different rooms to play. Also, if you have mutual friends to play, it's additional peer pressure to join. Get her into crafting and exploration and more time consuming stuff. there are reports and anecdotal evidence that the things that guys find tiresome, woemn find to be engaging. For example, collecting items, crafting mats, fishing etc... if it's just about leveling up, they probably will quit after the first week.
  9. ah yes that looks ALOT better. pity about the radius nerf.
  10. Turn OFF her freezinf ability. It's a channel and she will spend the entire time channeling it rather than healing. Also, IF she uses it on a champion or mob that isn't freezable, she will sit there and attempt to do it for infinity completely forgetting to heal you. Just turn it off. It is rarely ever useful anyway. The curation of the CC is too short AND it takes her away from her duties the entire time.
  11. They must have patched it because when I did it last week, all companions are greyed out except skadge. When I zoned in with Mako, she dissappeared with only skadge as an option. Also, if I zone in without companion and try to summon pet, only skadge is available; so as of right now, we're stuck with skadge on this quest. OP, yes, it was a difficult encounter. i did it several times before accepting that Skadge was going to die rather quickly. WHen I completed it, I had burnt everything, all cooldowns, stims, medpack. I did it as a merc, so basically the brute force won it. Just keep hammering the main guy and let skadge get himself killed. He seems to randomly attack the adds and gets their aggro, which does help. If you can outDPS the encounter, you're golden, if not, you'll have to try some of the tactics detailed in other replies.
  12. I believe it's a lvl 11+ orange with all slots empty. OP could try asking an armormech to craft it for him if he can't find it in the market.

That is only because you view the ENTIRE bounty Hunting profession based on some high profile individuals and based on your own narrow interpretation of the people who do bounty hunt. The profession itself is quite large and I think the game does a VERY good job of showing how there are different personalities in play. Your view is tantamount to saying that all soldiers are looting, murdering, amoral, honorless killers. AND BIOWARE, I HOPE I DON'T GET AN INFRACTION FOR MAKING A COMPARISON ON FAIR GROUNDS AGAIN FOR THE SAKE OF DISCUSSION! If you follow Boba Fetts exploits, you see that while he may be amoral and mercenary, he's also got honor. If you look at the Mandalorians as a whole, while they like to sell their services into warfare and shady services, they do so as professional soldiers. Their core is that of the traditional warrior. Honor first. Also, about mako. Keep in mind she is essentially the typical IT guy in the operation. She is backend and does NOT hold a field position. You only allow her to because she wants to know what it's like. That is wy you have the option to bring someone else along who has more the mindset of a field operative. In fact, would you trust your information and communications expert to a brutish thug who has no moral compass whatsoever? Would you trust Gault or skadge to give you the intel you need that isn't going to get you killed? Torian is a professional grunt (he only likes options that deal with honor and fighting) and Blizz is just along for the ride and personality wise, more closely aligned with Mako. It's not surprising that Blizz also is a technical expert. He's technically not a field person. If you use Blizz, he's very similar to Mako in personality. So yes, your crew is pretty well balanced and noone is really out of place there. People like Mako didn't have a choice of what she wanted to be in life. She's got a moral compass but her profession is shady. Perfectly believable; and frankly If the fit hits the shan, if we're truthful, only Mako, Torian and Blizz are going to come back for you. Fill your crew with all scoundrels and eventually you're going to be the target. If I was a Merc IRL, I'd fill my crew with experts who aren't ALL bloodthirsty amoral scum. Certainly, my technical and comms guy isn't going to be an amoral ****. Simply because you can't trust that he isn't out to screw you with that info.
  14. well apart from the fact that madalorians are exceptional fighters as a race and their equipment is generally jedi proof. Also, they have tools and tricks in their combat that isn't "standard" techniques. Jedi are great against the common rank and file soldier/mercenary but there is evidence that they can be beaten non force users. Jango and Boba also eschewed direct confrontation. Their techniques tended toward guile and deption; maneuverability over direct fire. Tactically they were very crafty fighters and their gear was set up specifically to fight in this manner. See Jet Packs and stand-off weapons. If you look at the fight bewteen Jango and Obi-Wan, Jango preferred to keep moving and keep distance to his advantage. Obi Wan was probably the better fighter due to force, but Jango not only held his own but he also dished out about as much as he took. Anyway, to the OP, Boba Fett would win. By this point, Boba has more life experience than Jango. Jango died relatively early in life, so I'd say Boba takes it if everything else being equal. Jedi and Sith aren't invincible. They can be killed just as easily by stray blaster fire.
  15. I brute forced the both of them. I was full shield spec vanguard and level 49 when I did it. It took a long time to kill the first one but as long as Elara is healing you and you are cycling through your medpack, cooldowns, interrupts, you should be able to wear one down eventually. The second guy becomes much easier. Also, don't go full range and don't go into melee range. There is a medium distance where you can quickly tap forward and pop off your melee abilities then back off and continue with sustained dps on the mob. You can avoid gettin knocked around like a chump and it ensures you can sustain the dps to wear down the mobs. The other guys have good suggestions but it is possibel to brute force your way through the encounter.
  16. While I see what you are getting at, i find your interpretation to be rather "generic" of what bounty hunters could be or are. Bounty Hunters are a profession in itself and people like the Madalorians tend to reinforce this concept; though there are lots of bounty hunters who don't see it as a profession. Mako, she is the brains and backend of your operation. All she wanted was field action but we shouldn't dismiss her personality. There are professions that require killing and destruction that also have morals and codes of ethics/honor. is it naive? Maybe but people aren't one dimensional and you'll see that even soldiers who have caused a lot of destruction have strict codes of conduct as well as moral platform. IMO Mako probably is the most well rounded of all the personalities on your ship and is closer to how real people would see things. In SWTOR, bounty hunters also act as mercenaries and guns for hire and because of that, the presence of a soldier (Torian), isn't out of the question. We also work for criminals, so Gault is an apt crew member. Blizz is just someone along for the ride. He doesn't have any real aspirations of his own; his biggest motive being to see the galaxy. You provide that. If you look at each personality of your crew member, you see that they represent the profession quite fittingly. They each represent an aspect of it. I played a full light side professional Merc and because of that, Skadge fits my crew the least. He's a thug and while he may be representative of the bounty hunter population outside of the mandalorians, he's the least fit to be crew simply because he's the least professional and has no real motive to be there. Even Blizz has more compelling reason to be on your ship than Skadge. I actually don't find skadge all that abrasive. The trooper version of him is a lot more abrasive simply because he's completely insubordinate.
  17. I trie the healing tree for leveling as well as hybriding it. It can be done but it's not effective. For leveling, Go full arsenal. Eventually your rotation will be: Unload Tracer missile Tracer missile Tracer missile Railshot unload ---if you go 31 points arsenal, you get the final missile ability. You can throw that in as well because tracer missile buffs this damage quite a lot. You can usually kill silver mobs with that one rotation and maybe 1 - 2 more tracer missiles depending on crits. It kills really fast. At lower levels, heat will be a big problem so you need to throw in your regular attack every 1-2 abilities used. There's no real need for a rotation at the lower levels and Tracer missile is low enough in the tree that you can just spam that and unload. It's not a particularly engaging playstyle but the damage output is quite remarkable. Death from Above to open fights vs multiple normal/weak mobs.
  18. It's a fun game as far as mmorpg go but their emphasis and resource spend on story mechanic left out basics like a functional auction house and other simple mmorpg basics. The loot system is great (outside of the "pure RNG system). I particularly like the bosses spawned all over the maps that actually drop loot. It's farming friendly, solo friendly but they missed out on building a system that allows players to see and interact with each other. The conversation system is not a solution; a gimmick that only benefits in social points... that does nothing really. Buildinig an artificial system was a wasted resource when the ability to naturally allow it was always there. Crafting system is really nice and useful to some extent. Combat is generally good with some funky mis-timings on animations and mobs can use some fine tuning. Otherwise, I consider it a good game but just an average/below average MMORPG.
  19. the most convenient and easy option is a Vanguard Trooper. Despite it being a medium range tank, it plays more like a traditional tank than the rest. That is, you can stand there and do what we term as Tank and Spank. Picking up adds is also much, much easier due to many ranged options as well as plenty of easy access range AOE abilities. The other tanks kind of have to run around... a lot. And particularly in swtor, melee tanking will mean you get knocked down and knocked back A LOT. It can be frustrating even for more experienced tanks and you end up requirinig a more spastic and hectic tanking style over the Trooper. If you're new to tanking, the Trooper is easier to learn the basics on. Thereafter, once you've gotten to know the basics of tanking, you can try out the other tanks. They are all just as capable, the rest are just more fiddly. It can be distracting even for the more experienced.
  20. If you are mercenary, at higher levels, you end up using Unload just as often as tracer missile spam because high crit will finish cooldown on Unload and increase its damage. In general, with enough crit (30%+) you'll be using 1 unload for every 3 tracer missile. I usually start fights with Unload blasting them with pistol fire then missile x 3, unload, rail shot, repeat in that order. So all in all, tracer missiles should acount for about 60-ish percent of your attacks. The rest are combo of Unload, basic pistol attack and rail shot/various other missile types.
  21. You are under level to do this next step of the quest. You need to complete other quests first. In general, if you are 2 levels below the mob, you know you've missed out on a lot of quest (or havent done them yet). Check your quest log. It lists the level of he quest and do those that are closest or below your level first in sequence. Usually the quest will be grouped into areas. You shouldn't be moving on till each area is complete - otherwise you end up against mobs that are 4-5 levels higher.
  22. I don't get a choice who to attack. They spawn pretty spaced out and it's your first action that will determine whether you survive the initial spike. Please don't expect people to know exactly which mob to kill first when they are both dangerous and spawn right on top of you with the scond being very spaced out. The first second of spawn your life drops to 20% do you honestly expect every class to run into range to kill the mob that drops it? I can guarantee some classes will never make it to the mob before they die. You are expected to kill both because the mechanic in having to die to complete the encounter is clearly broken game mechanic. Game design 101. Logic 101. Common sense 101. That should be quite obvious. ANY quest, unless the story demands it (for instance, to enter the spirit world or prove your commitment etc...), should never be designed in such a way where a player has to game and bypass the system to complete the quest. It's a badly tuned quest. It's as simple as that. It's tuned for classes that have some form of cedible CC.
  23. Paticularly the stage kill quests made me wonder as I was leveling my Bounty Hunter. On my trooper, there was just a ton of staged area quests. I have to admit it got a little annoying and felt longer than it should have whereas on my bounty hunter, it was mostly just basic kill task in an area. Staged area quests are actually pretty rare on Emp side but you get many more very quick kill quests that nett similar rewards and XP as the Repub versions. The Emp side definitely felt a whole lot less grindy just because they didn't gate everything in stages. Also, I found Emp side had generally better quest flow throughout the area. It's all easy enough to do but Repub definitely felt a whole lot "all over the place".
  24. Political Views I get. Moral views, there are inconsistencies in what constitutes light and dark, moral and immoral.
  25. MMO's need a story (multiple stories) and they need to be told well. Otherwise all you have is combat grinding. It's quite pointless; as pointless as an RPG that has no story and only combat (it becomes an action game only). The whole point of an MMORPG is that it is an RPG, which means it needs story telling. However, I agree that the resource given to the cut scenes and dialogues should have been better spent on building out the basic system. There's no reason at all to take us out of a perpetual world constantly and into cutscene after cutscene. Or, just as bad, loading screen after loading screen. There are signs all over the place that bioware, when they started this project, doesn't understand the essence of what an MMORPG is. They get the RPG but not the MMO and more importantly, the synthesis of MMO-RPG. Personally I enjoy the stories but I skip everything. I read the text. It's great the first run through, but tedious (more tedious than mob grinding) with the constant cuts and load. There's no reason they couldn't have been a bit more balanced about it; rather than constant cut/dialogue scenes, they could have just voice the NPC and given us transcription ala traditional RPG quests. They also didn't need ALL that verbose dialogue. Frankly, they could cut 20% of each dialogue and still retain the essence of the conversation. It's overly much and it's apparent that too much of the resources went to just this ONE system.
