  1. you are wrong here. due to the warzone level 49 buff it does not matter much on lower levels what equip you have. the stats on lower level items are too low to make a significant difference. additionally you getquite good equip from quests and planet commedations. there is no need to buy anything before level 40. it is a waste of money!
  2. reroll. it is a shame that you have no clue about your own class! we have the second best defensive abilities of all classes, and we DO HAVE snare(s)!!! look at your talent trees. actually we are the only class that can really kite! edit: my build http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801rRG0doroMZrsrbobZo.1 there is a little talent called Neural Overload. This is one of our two snare talents. The other one is in tha shared tree
  3. vanguard is the class with for warzones most and best utilities. it is also the or one of the 3 strongest 1on1 classes. yes there are a few underpowered classes (one of them is actually considered overpowered by the crowd of < level 50 people) but vanguard is 100% not even under average. you said you tried iron fist (like) builds? if so you shouldn't worri about any knockbacks etc. no one can escape you or get distance to you! i currently switched to vanguard as my main. the reason was not him being so strong (i actually discovered this afterwards) but for his different playstyle. vanguard is never ever underpowered! though i fear the nerf in 1.2 to the assault build is a bit to strong (especially not allowing ion cell to be used anymore and the internal cd is too high).
  4. arguing with a comparison to operatives is a big fail! they are two different classes. they differ in many ways. thus there is no logic in your arguments!
  5. beside the many mistakes in your post i would like to point out this one: most armor does not always also mean most survivability or even most mitigation! it contributes to but that's all.
  6. @Mythicrose: forgive me. sounds as if i have misunderstood the intension of your post. i'm not a native english speaker.
  7. 100% correct. and instead of trying to figure out better tactics or even asking for them they are at first asking for nerfs, fixes for things that do not need any fixes want the rules changed so that they can do what they always did but hopefully this time with more success. i mean an ape is intelligent enough to position himself along the catwalk or against a pillar to prevent being knocked back down. but 90% of the players seem not.
  8. i don't know how in the recent past it happend that it seems the common attitude is not anymore: i lose, i have these issues.... lets see how to solve this, what i can do better. but instead i see: first attempt i got wrecked. k, i try it THE SAME WAY again... oh surpirse, got wrecked again.... ok, there must be wrong. FIX IT!!!! it even does not matter anymore that there are others that do not have these problems proving that actually it is a learn to play issue. nooooooooo, they are cheating or are having luck or what ever.
  9. no he didn't said what you seem to have understood. but your mistake points out why you are 80% of the time standing still. you know L2P does not only mean that you know how to use your class abilities to fight somebody in 1on1 it also means to learn how make yourself usefull in a group play and how to use tactics and the environment to your advantage or to avoid trouble. wanna know how often i get knockdown from the upper catwalks or into the fire in huttball? maybe once in 10 games. but they try it at least 10 times every game. i must be cheating....
  10. hmm, sounds like your ideal of huttball is a bunch of dds and healer without any utilites just beating the crap out until maybe one manages to get to the other side... like tug of war. really sad how short sighted people are attempting to kill everything that actually adds fun and dynamics to a game.
  11. and killing the supporters or the sages/sorcs pulling him or stunning the people that chase your ball carrier so he can get over the fire pit or... but i guess this is not enough. right? funny as i already found your 2 "exceptions" being enough, even without my additions. i would love to see the many useless scoundrells out there doing the two things you mentioned in a huttball isntead zerging aruond so stupid. this would greatly help us in the random warzones. but things change when i sign up with my guildies, which include some scoundrels. strange, they have alot of fun and are as usefull as everyone else.
  12. no, we can't. its fine. i do not spend 80% of the time standing still. you must be doing something wrong. i know what but you don't care i'll bet.
  13. no, kiting means staying out of range while moving AND WHILE DOING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE!
  14. no it does not affect them equally! the reason is that range classes in swtor cannot kite. it absolutely does not help you as a ranged class not being rooted while a melee is chasing you. it does not matter if both are not rooted or if only you as ranged class is rooted. actually there is also no need to set roots on resolve bar. if we want to make a small compare to wow (which actually seems the reason why this topic has brought up anyway) then you'll see that in wow with a system like resolve it could have been much more abused. actually cc of any kind were much more and much more dramatic in their effects than they are here. with a slow in wow you could kite a melee all around and do serious damage. dots actually did alot of damage and ranged classes could really do high damage casts on the run. in swtor the only class capable of some kiting is the trooper with a few builds. but compared to wow melees have much more often/frequent ways to close the gap. actually in swtor cc and counter cc have been distributed over all classes quite much with deviation depending on their mitigation and damage they have/can do. they only thing that i would agree to change would be to add to our 2min cc breaker a 1 or at most 1.5s (maybe 2s but not more) immunity to all cc inclusive roots and slows. this would help against the rooted and stunned to death situation within a zerg that seems to annoy so many pug players. yes, i say explicitly pug players because i can't remember when it was the last time i saw anybody on my server i usually play with complaining about this. since the start and the L2P phase we all went through this wasn't an issue for me anymore (of course not even mith my melee classes i play). root on resolve bar make the already weak range classes dead meat!
  15. sounds like a good pvp attitude. rarely seen these days.... sadly!
  16. killing them. this would be a free win for the other team.
  17. well, i think they had skunks in their head when they created the sets with stats most do not need at all. oh and if they didn't intended to stack/accumulate the stats you want to then they wouldn't have made them moddable.
  18. i agree. have played both too.
  19. can the community be fixed? i guess no. p.s. you are not playing alone vs 8 opponents. you also have jump pull grap in yur team, you can also pass. L2P and L2Play in Team! got how boring would be huttbal without these skills.
  20. true! that's EA, no support and they don't care about customers.
  21. i disagree. though, i agree on omitting "shield". shielding does not help anything in pvp. but various talents in the tank tree + ion cell greatly improve your survivability over a pure dd specc without ion cell. and if done right you do not lose so much damage to not being worth in a 8vs8 warzone. playing the pure dd specs i found myself performing fine and having much fun as long as i was only into 1on1 or 2on2. as soon as it got a bit more crowded (which for me happens 90% of the time) i die in 2s (3 or 4s if i have a personal healer), while as hybrid i often survive the whole battle. but maybe its me that i am getting mostly focused. edit: of course i am not suing tank equip with defense and such crap!
  22. no it is not. if you are going so deep into assault then you should also take ionic acc. otherwise you tactics tree is far better.
  23. resolve is fine. edit: oh and there is not too much cc around. no, i am not kidding!
  24. actually this is totally wrong for a vanguard/powertech. the iron fist or iron fist like builds at least double the survivability, actually even more in a crowded battle. playing one of the pure damage builds makes you so squishy. you won't observe it in a 1on1 or 2on2 scenario so much but in group battles you die 3 or 4 times faster, and are getting impossible to be healed. interesting is that with some changes to the classic iron fist build you also can have a not much reduced damage, and considering upcoming changes in 1.2 even less.
