  1. Exactly. People here are acting like everyone should be aware there even was a patch. It's a miracle I saw the announcement on the launcher yesterday, I knew from the site, but many don't even visit here. And it's not even remotely put up long before the patch, I'm still an advocate for a minimum of 24 hours, it's not even half that. During maintenance they take down the website and they should never ever expect people to visit any 3rd party site or service for their info. Lets say someone had to go away for the weekend, got home, started the launcher, looking to see what´s going on in the guild. Yeah it really is that person´s fault. The launcher should just get a notification from the patch server that the new one isn't ready and not update anything. That way crap like this doesn't happen. There is no excuse for what happened to these people, I can't see how anyone other than BW can be blamed. At least it didn't happen to me, but when I got home it was already in extended maintenance, and I never got the bitraider version.
  2. I really hope they spot this thread and think again then. They can't claim to listen that well otherwise. They might as well have made a single player game on the Kotor engine and sell one chapter at a time like other companies do.
  3. Wouldn't matter if the sell value was just set to zero, then it would go up for mods you put in, effectively just selling those without having to extract them. I think that's better than having the next set flagged unsellable instead. Just like you can sell a modable weapon with a cartel crystal in it, the crystal has no value. I don't see the value of giving value to the first copy and making the rest as it is now, I much rather have them all at zero value and no "cannot sell cartel junk", exception for the complimentary junk, they are rewards, no reason to not have them have some value cause you don't want or ever need those (like that space pass junk). Of course if the first copy does have value and the follow-up copies are at zero but sellable when modded I won't object. Don't see that as likely though and it would mean more coding and duplicating all the cartel stuff probably.
  4. And lets not forget, those free level 60s deserve a chance at some social points. Just another reason for them to give us the option to group.
  5. Yes and no. I would like to be able to sell them, but with collections it could be abused, unless they are sell-able with a value of 0, meaning you have to put mods in first. And some other items should never have been flagged cartel market. All the complimentary things, not just XP boosters, but for example that space mission pass... Really no idea why we're given those, I need to let my subscription end to do anything other than destroying them. It's an insult to give that as a reward. If only it was vendor trash-able it would have some use.
  6. Or any of the empire classes apart from some flavor text. Looking at it like that a random mission anywhere else in the game was closer to being class story. And seeing how things are looking, your class may just be flavor text with this next chapter. They try to tell us the past story will have effects, but I just feel it'll be some mention here or there or which character may bring the same news. We'll be lucky if we get a side mission that's class based, the world story is just going to be the same as SoR. I think they read "We want more class story" as "We want more phases marked as class story". I don't mind everyone gets the same basic story here with flavor text based on class if there really are choices that matter. Not that I expect choices to matter nearly as much as they imply they will. I just hope we can coop the story, that will definitely offset most disappointments. Not to mention I may be tempted to make the same choice on multiple characters, so if someone else goes another way it can be interesting to mix and match outcomes into an unexpected end result which may be unlikely to be a real single player end result unless the character really does everything on a whim playing more or less neutral... or rather schizophrenic where one personality tends to save people left and right and the other goes on killing sprees.
  7. --- To keep everything together I'll starte with copy-pasting what I wrote about this in a different thread. --- I just hope with the focus on story it'll be treated like planet stories rather than class stories. What I mean is how instances are handled. for the original content you had the class stories and the planet stories... and just other missions. Class stories were understandably for the single characters, it was about them and just them (separately for each of the same class). Planet stories were able to be shared, which gave the whole multiplayer storytelling options. Then there was Makeb, not sure if that was treated as a class story or planet story. It was the same for all the classes per faction, so it should have been planet stories in my opinion, I have my doubts. Not a Makeb fan really, so I'll leave it at that. Then the Rishi/Yavin story came, was planning to do that together with a friend, didn't happen cause of some reasons. Final instanced boss even on the weekly couldn't use a shared instance. So guessing it's all treated as class story even though it's the same for everyone. Then came Ziost, and I was helping a few friends when they did it for the first time, yup, all three of us had to go into our own versions of the instances. So I really hope it'll be "planet stories" so we can share the story. Doubt it though. If they even see this, I hope they can add an option to do it coop, making people have to accept that consequences may happen because of other people winning a roll when they toggle that option. - But that's what can make it fun ESPECIALLY when choices mean something, those that disagree would still just be able not to opt in for that. But I know people that would love this, me being one of them on at least some characters. --- [end copy-paste] --- So to add on that since then. It can all be flagged as class stories as they probably did, but I think the best solution would then be to add a toggle in the options to allow shared personal phases in coop mode. This would also affect outcomes of the 1-50 story choices when shared, so should definitely be a toggle people have to actively mark to avoid whining. --- I'll add an example group scenario here to clarify what it could look like --- Three players are just starting and group up, two of those have enabled sharing the phase in coop, the third one didn't. So they start to play and they get to a phased instance. The first player enters and opens it, then the second one enters and automatically joins in it. The third who didn't enable it enters and makes his own instance. This means the two will have the same story progress flags marked, the third has his own and his progress isn't affected by the choices of the others. Now they meet a forth person that joins their group, this person already did a few phases ahead of them. When the others enter a phase the fourth already did he has the option to join as spectator according to the "allow same class story phases" settings, which would still be it's own toggle in the options. --- [end example] --- So yeah, I hope the devs get to see this in time before there's no time to add it. Would be great to see us allowed to share the story to make it a real optional multiplayer experience. Otherwise I fear it may just become a chapter DLC single player game. Would even be nice if they added that as an option later, though still very much preferably with launch. A little response in this thread by them could show they are aware, and inspire people to add more detailed ideas.
  8. Thanks, I'll just use that thread to say my thing. The thread title doesn't really feel like it wants to invoke discussion to offer ideas for the devs on how to overcome difficulties though, or just how to do it in general. Just a question making it sound like there's only an answer wanted. But no good making a new thread for it because of just that.
  9. Maybe it'll require a new topic. I just feel they need to at least show they are aware so we know the developers won't realize too late we are hoping for that option. Wouldn't mean we would get it, cause they probably think it's too hard with the consequences for choices, but that's why I already suggested having people activate the option in their settings to avoid that kind of whining. May make a separate topic very late tonight or tomorrow, probably the latter, if no one else does it first. Do want to give a 3 or 4 player party example of how it would work. Would just be really nice if it was actually multiplayer story optional instead of forced single player.
  10. I know there's a few bonus objectives that change what happens if you do or don't do them. Might just be small things, but there's at least one where it avoids a fight if you do the bonus objective. Don't want to spoil which one(s), just try with and without bonus objectives if you run the same class more than once.

  12. Talking light ones that used to work, there was a patch ages ago that made those no longer hide hoods, unless eventually they listened and restored that. But yeah, if that works more again the free players have their workaround. Not sure when the last time was that I actively tried, in the old days light ones worked then they didn't. If they can again, that's great.
  13. At launch subs didn't have a unify color, we went with the game anyway. That point is meaningless, we didn't even have dye options. Without unify they just have to get multiple dyes to look nice. So they can spend credits to buy dyes or maybe those unlocks off GTN, or just go preferred (buy CCs & get the unlocks) or subscriber. You say free players buy off GTN, so let them, they just need to work harder and find someone offering to sell what they want more than other people. Hide head slot, did we have that at launch? Anyway, lets put that with the hood toggle. It used to be possible to get a not so invasive headpiece that would lower the hood. These days those head pieces can't be used for hiding the hood anymore, but they can still be used to see most of the head. Again, or they can do something about not having that option. Don't give free players too much or they'll just stay free. If anything subscribers should get more, get more people interested to become subscribers. That gets more money from the game meaning they'll be more likely to invest more. Don't have exact numbers, the theory works, there's just this massive greedy corporate entity you can't predict well as outsider.
  14. Now you just start to get too defensive. My earlier post was on the unfriendly side of the topic. But you just have to be right with your naming, don't you? Assuming you did contact support (don't care if you did), if they say you can keep it so be it. I agree with people here saying that representative has no clue what they put in their rules. "When I contacted Support, they looked at the account and thought it was a really cool choice of name and character." - Makes me think you got a 12 year old representative even (or are making it up). "He also liked my Laya Orgono & my Oohbeewan'Kenknowbee." - Both also in violation, I clearly recall similar names as examples of not allowed names unless they were removed recently. "So I dunno, CS didnt suggest I remove it, and even chuckled at my "creative naming" guess I am fine." - They wouldn't suggest removal, but give you a rename. I believe if you send in a ticket asking for a rename because you didn't realize you'd be offending people on a RP server a good rep knows to give you a free one as they can see the name is questionable at least. Even a rep that sees nothing wrong with the name should be able to see a RP server having that effect on people faster than a regular one. Doesn't change the fact that you attempted to make your character as a copyrighted character. You admitted to that in your first post, now you're saying you didn't. Green skin, no shirt, purple pants, using anything with "Hulk" in the name, copyright. I'm not going into discussion of whether or not you know you were on a RP server, at least not yet. Thanks to you I'll report the next Hulk wannabe I see just out of principle, I hope people do that to yours too. If everyone does sooner or later you'll be made to change it or a new random name will be forced upon you.
  15. It's normal. It's also not as the title implies. The box you buy isn't on a timer, but when you open it you get items on the timer. You can but a hypercrate on the cartel market = timer you open it and get packs = timer You open them and get goodies = timer the goodies may ge gear box that gives gear = timer When a timer ends you can sell it, but to avoid opening and immediately selling what's inside the next step still has the timers. They are always new timers, not where you left with the old one.
  16. First of all I'm on an RP server, it's indeed a place where character naming is taken more seriously. I've met people with inappropriate names, I've often tried to explain to them why it was inappropriate, usually when they were also in violation of the EULA / TOS. A good amount of people said then that they were sorry and went to remake. Some people were being idiots, those I then reported when the names were in violation and moved on (in the end it's up to the moderators to deal with that). To be fair, when a name shouts that the player is really stupid and probably won't accept the help offered I'll usually act like I'm not there. At least with general chat, if it's in whisper and it's an actual request for help to improve the player's understanding I'd be more inclined to help, but seriously annoying. Usually newbies send whispers to high levels to help with a low level Heroic or FP. Still the community is newbie unfriendly often. In an FP I once spend 90% of the FP trying to help a tank understand the very basics of tanking. I mean, unknowing how to go into tanking mode and not taking a minute to follow instructions. Player acting like wanting to know, but then too impatient and running into boss after boss. Other group members told me they appreciated that I tried but that I was too patient with him, and we actually kicked that noob (I only use noob when it's about someone not wanting to learn). And in PVP it's even worse. If you try to inspire teamwork you get told off. Funny thing is, if you're grouped with the same people the match after and don't try to explain they really run around like headless chickens while when it is explained or called for help you might have barely won like the match before. And this starts in the lower bracket, in the middle or even end bracket most people still didn't learn anything. It comes from multiple parties. People need to be willing to learn, people need to be willing to teach, and people need to be willing to let others do those things. Right now I think neither group has too many members. And I don't know how to change that.
  17. "By having two factor authentication you make it much harder for them to improperly access your data." Yet we weren't allowed to have that with email addresses, BW forces me to reveal half my login data. The email address I only use for my SWTOR business was still a million times safer. Weren't even told why (lame reason that made no sense, if not the opposite). People suggested if they had to have it different from email, they should have added a field to the account a "login name" next to the "display name". Then we would now have a three factor authentication. Still wouldn't help anyone visiting a credit seller site and getting malware sneaking in, but neither does the current or previous version of BW's security for people that open themselves up like that. I've heard about people with the security keys getting their accounts stolen/borrowed by the credit ring. So for all we know we are on a one factor authentication, at least it's safe to assume people that visit those sites are.
  18. Adaptive is fine, but as you're a sorcerer it doesn't matter if it's adaptive or light armor. If for example you had been a juggernaut, adaptive would have been better than medium. Adaptive is always the same as the best you can use on that character. What you may want to go for is Legacy gear. That means you can move your sorcerer gear mods and all to a sage if you ever have one, back and forth all you want if you want to play both sides. Most Legacy gear is also adaptive, all except for the class based ones on the home worlds if I'm not mistaking. Especially with the new costume designer you can overrule the gear looks, except for weapons.
  19. With the free gear from many mission I'd say do Ziost first. You will get some 190 pieces. They may be blue, but that doesn't make them a bad start. Since you took a 3 year break you probably won't have better than that. Only the elitists think you need to be geared in purple. But it's the rating & stats that count. 190 blue is only a few points behind 192 purple. Of course then you can do ops or whatever you like and improve that gear. Just for tanking it may be good not to rush into relying on the 190 blue. There's less room to wiggle in stats and the blue gear is far from optimal with stat distribution. So you can also decide to get those 190 gears and pimp with some other mods to your liking. Of course if you have armorings with decent rating and set bonus, you may want to keep using those. With a long break though, probably not the case.
  20. I think the bug was hat they removed them from fleet, not the planets. It's true for all the planetary vendors. It doesn't mean I agree with the decision. Those mods were the best thing about Makeb after doing the story once on each faction at least. I can understand the decision for making it 1 vendor every 4 levels, makes it easier to find mods you need. BUT even there they messed up, half the mods are identical in stats to others with a different name. The 140 mods were nice, I would have preferred keeping those even if you had to go to Makeb to get them. I don't know anyone that gets the level 53 mods. Only way to gear fresh level 50s to keep going now is to get the campaign gear, expensive when you hit 50 but I know I'll move some mods to legacy sets (don't have the comms on fresh 50s anyway, makeb mods were affordable to prepare people). Or just wait to hit 53 and get free gear from the Revan Prelude. Either way, if intentional they could have added it to the patch notes.
  21. Still have my doubts. No, not saying he's lying, but he may have been lied to, or it may have been for a single server, I don't know. No evidence any were removed (Ignore lists still just as full). More spamming and more ways, now drowning in whispers too for the first time. THEY ARE DOING BETTER! Yesterday I got one with an offer for x amount, that amount today from the same site has gone up by 50% over night. DOESN'T MEAN I'M GONNA BUY, they can drop the price to 1% while offering to deliver 1000 times as much, I don't need their crap. On the other hand I'm tempted to whisper them bad wishes back, which if they weren't just bots they'd report me for and get me into trouble... So assuming any were cleaned up, not working as you need to constantly fight them. But I doubt BW/EA is reading these comments.
  22. Like last time he mentioned something that was a not the case... No, no one said he was lying, but someone passing the information to him may have been, or there may have been a bug/mistake in place. Either way, I have seen nothing to indicate any spammer was ever truly banned. My ignore lists are still filling up and if the offenders are dealt with, the characters do in fact still exist. More spammers still keep coming, meaning buyers aren't punished enough as they are what are the main cause they come. Maybe in time we'll see a difference, but at this point I'm still with LoverNoFighter, sounds like little (if anything) more than words.
  23. Just had another one when I logged on, the message changed a bit. Reported as harassment as I do lately because it got more that and spam reports did seem ignored anyway. Didn't check attachment, don't usually with those scum. Looked by the name like a hacked account. But upon reporting the mails get deleted and you don't get to add them to ignore lists. But if you indeed punished them, I bet a lot of ignore lists will turn up emptier now? - No, still there, which means I have no idea if they're were any punished, sadly.
  24. Only ran into this thread by chance. So treating it like everyone should know feels wrong. If you're going to punish violators, why not make it an official announcement? A lot of people never visit the forums or only if they need something, some not even then. I believe I almost got into the area through the spirit of exploration, but seeing this thread was the ultimate deciding factor to stop exploring at that point. I wonder if just getting inside through exploration (just to look) would have punished me. Of course I see 2 areas that could be meant, entering one of those looks impossible through normal exploration techniques and would probably require a bug to exploit, so I would almost say it should be common sense not to enter that one. But also neither for any rewards. So much for them wanting us to go off the beaten path. --- Don't get me wrong, I'm all for punishing exploiters, but there are people out there that will not exploit but may get punished. It all depends where they mean. --- And I just saw a place I feel urged to try to climb to, but this scares me off in case that's part of the exploit. Guess I'll wait with that till next week when it's drowning in lag even more.
  25. (( With how public listing works personnel may be desired, mostly for rep side, feel free to leave a message here or whisper / mail Seela'nima (empire) or Leshana (republic) if interested. Public listing may be both factions, but only works for one faction at a time sadly )) (( I will have to see if I can assign a specific rep day, but I have more characters and RP than just this ))
