Didn't note when, sorry. No problem ,I was just wondering Quote: Originally Posted by overunitee I read your signature and would like to ask .Do you not question the reason the game was expanded to lots of other countries so quickly after launch while knowing full well the game had lots of issues, knowing ilum got erased ,rank warzones not implemented, fps ,disconnects ,sound, class quests you can't finish, nodes you cant farm etc etc .? Not everybody had so many issues with playing. Most things important to me works most of the time. My main concern right now is that a larger population on my server would make teaming up and PVPing easier, and the world would be more "alive". It will be interesting to see the new server structure. Certainly, they wouldn't be able to sell to a million of you (or would they?), but we are all different. Anyway, to answer the question why they expanded: easy, to earn more I understand this ,but I cannot understand why a company with intelligent business minded people ,would expose the game to a larger market knowing that the game at the time had some major issues ,One at the time being ilum ,would you agree ? and secondly the performance issue that I suspect the majority of players see to this day on the main hub of fleet ,Obviously I cannot speak for everyone but can you honestly say you do not see a significant drop in performance travelling around fleet ,I had a 250 member guild with 450 characters and all that I asked even some with i7 cpu confirmed they suffered .Forget any other issue ,why would you not fix just this one point before expanding your exposure ? If indeed you had a long term goal , Quote: Originally Posted by overunitee Then shortly after lay off what is possibly 50% of the SWTOR staff including the main face of community representation Steven Reid ,there will never be published how many sub contracters got binned ,I didn't agree with mexican cutomer services but its likely they all went too . I've been looking around to estimate the layoff size, but I can't find any good data. Where did you get your figures? Most of the very loyal fansites that have been in close contact with employees of bioware have reported that from the direct staff employed of 450 that just short of 200 were let go that excludes the sub contractors as far as i understand ,I'am sure if you check out sites like http://www.gamebreaker.tv/video-game-shows/star-wars-the-old-republic-video/the-republic-swtor-show/swtor-doomed-to-fail/ There are 4 that are close enough Quote: Originally Posted by overunitee Can I suggest one senario . I don't believe so, as it does not seem to be how EA thinks about this business. They see the big earnings in the subs, and their efforts are directed at maintaining subs. At least, that is what I gathered by reading their financial reports. Why not address the performance on ilum and fleet first ?? Is it possible that it takes 3 months to implement a feature that was not quite ready .? My personal guess is that the design did not work. If the design does not work, things can take time to get right. Also, since the ranked warzones coming in 1.3 are for premade teams, a sufficient server population is needed to make the idea work well, and we all know that too has taken its time, becoming available along with 1.3. Why do you have to guess ? Since it was such a big attraction for players to resub why not with the retraction give the customers an explanation ? If there was a legitimate understandable reason I'am sure all those that resubbed would have been more likely to resub in the future when the issue had been resolved ,do you think them players will trust them now?? Don't call me fanboy just because I can read, think and write.
  2. You cannot get much poorer than me . Its hard to put things in context on a forum ,but my house is getting repossessed and I survive on benefits at the moment ,I'am upset you are right ,because I had to scrimp and save to even buy the box then worked very hard to get the game to run with reasonably well performance my cpu is a q6600 so you can tell its not the best but they told me it should have no issues .A good friend lent me £100 to buy a better gpu .and upgrade my Ram The reason I went to all this effort is because I thought that with a massive company behind it and the biggest mmo budget in history that any flaws would be addressed quickly and this game for a monthy fee could be a cheap form of entertainment until I can get back into work . You may have misunderstood my intention was not about players who could not afford the game ,it was more about the type of community it will attract ,up to now I always thought that since star wars has a mature following that the community would be a lot nicer than other mmo's I have played . I just feel like I have tried damn hard to help rid this game of issues and help it succeed and for them to not even fix fleet performance before they try to attract anyone to play ,Honestly tell me if you got a free trial and stuttered and scraped around fleet you would be willing t pay monthly for more or just focus on the lvl 15 pvp for free and have a bit of fun trying 1-15 on a few different characters ,what about crashes to infinite load screen ,do you not see that until the current content is flawless its foolhardy to show it to more people ,
  3. I think the fact that a Pve focused game were the devs said they had put their money and effort into the levelling and legacy aspect Has produced a game were their PVP is by far the greatest success of all ,lots of people me included hated pvp but love it to bits in this game . I suggest they build on what they have done right . I would gladly subscribe to new detailed maps with more in depth pvp mechanics ,less of the jump in and die style and more of the tactical strategy pvp were the focus and rewards are given for teamwork and not how much damage you inflicted or how many players you killed .
  4. Personally I feel very bad , I Paid for the game in January and have played the live pay to play beta since then,I have moved servers and started from scratch 3 times ,I have bought new hardware to make it play better ,I have reported issues and must have sent in over 40 copies of Dxdiags, msinfo, crashlogs ,spent countless hours/days, weeks.trying to get to the root cause of my performance issues ,even researching how my internet works to try to trouble shoot the disconnection issues ,with no real help from the customer services . Today my computer which has had its details sent to bioware to confirm it should have no issue playing the game does evertime I enter fleet drop from 70fps down to 10/20fps with the character limit renderer set to low .One person from a guild i was part of said he had a i7 processor running at 5mhz and still had significant frame rate drops on fleet . I truly cannot understand why they would invite free to play players to try the game before at least fixing the performance of the main hub at fleet . To me free to play means very young children with no money of thier own ,anyone capable of using a keyboard and mouse entering and the community becoming the playground mentality of WOW thats for those that have learned to read and type ,the rest just play as if the in game avatars are computer generated Now all the people that didnt want to play the game can get it for free and play the warzones for free which is really the only element of the game which would warrant a monthly subscription. you cannot get a group for any group content in the game apart from warzones ,so a pimped out lvl15 in PVP would be a perfect solution if you want to fight your friends for free . it will be like lvl 19,twink in wow with xp turned off only free .

Is it possible that it takes 3 months to implement a feature that was not quite ready .? I personally do not believe its anything t do with the creative team but I do feel strongly that the bankers behind the scenes played a major role . Could this treatment of EA customers be anything to do with the award for worst company of 2011 or why the shares dropped from 60p to 16p . I will let you think about this for yourself . If you feel like proving any of the above to be incorrect then use google and post your finding .
  6. I like the feel of trying to connect to the community , But a lot of effort could be saved by actually doing this rather than talking about it . One in game customer service LIVE response to a player having difficulties ,would actually make me feel interacted with and possibly helped . This one act would replace thousands of CS getting to know you threads and actually trying to help paying players and keeping them updated till the issue is resolved, not closing unresolved issues . You would eliminate the rude responses because now customers feel your putting on a show because of the amount of players unsubbing but the reality is if I submit an in game ticket in spite of this get to know you thread ,your actions do not reflex you post as the response would still be " sorry to hear you have issues we have taken note /passed on /escalated ,we will not keep your ticket open or give you any update ,can we help with any other issues -/ticket closed Please invite a friend ,this is how you do it .......................... ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS No one wants to be friends with someone they feel blows them off at every opportunity. Given the extreme incompetence of the customer service experience, I was surprised players were sorry to see anyone especially a top customer service person get fired . Every one responsible for current customer services has contributed to this games unsubscriber numbers and a clean sweep would help . Who ever was responsible for sub contracting to Mexicans with limited understanding of the language should have been fired for even suggesting such a stupid idea .
  7. I can't see any reason why they would not let you go to high population server with your other characters ,after all you have 8 slots to fill and you can only play one at a time ,so what could the possible reason be ? Especially since I presume players already rolled at least one on the server already . If you are already active on that server you are not going to add any load at all to it even if you fill up the 8 slots.
  8. This is great just what I was looking for . Could I ask how you get 15k defender points ,it just seems at 500 even if I stood there the whole game I would not get 15k ,or would I ? Is there a way to boost defender points ? Attacker points ,are they linked to damage ? I have spent whole games attacking at an enemy controlled point and while I was getting killed a lot I did about 60,000 damage but got no medals at all . Is there a range from the control point were you get the attack or defend points ? Is it possible I was fighting to far away to get either defender or attacker points ? I always give 100% of my ability to play as a team but If I help by freezing /stunning or Knockbacking from say ball carrier to help them get the ball to the goal ,I feel like My rewards can be very few or no medals but if i focus on killing randoms I get 6 medals for the damage and how many people I kill normally
  9. Brilliant replies thankyou for the help . Please post the long link I like to research all the possibilities and strategies just like boss killing in pve .
  10. I'am hoping that I can find some older dudes on this server But maybe they don't come to the forum much
  11. Hello everyone, I wonder if experienced PVP players can help me out ,I never liked pvp in other games but love it in this game ,which really surprised me . I cannot seem to find an explanaition of how exactly you earn the medals . I have seen comments that if you can't get 4 medals you are a noob . I have done matches were I have played really hard against an organised team and got none or say 3 medals . If I could get some help understanding what exactly gets you the medals in the different Warzones at least I could focus more . At the moment focusing on winning can net you zero points were as camping a capped node can earn you gear quicker . Here is the list I would like to update with any advice from the skilled PVPers to hopefully help us new to pvp and encourage more to attempt it . Dauntless I - 10 Minute Victory Dauntless II - 9 Minute Victory Dauntless III - 8 Minute Victory Dauntless IV - 7 Minute Victory Dauntless V - 6 Minute Victory Dauntless VI - 5 Minute Victory Demolisher - 2.5k Damage Single hit Annihilator - 5K damage from a single attack Combatant - 75k Damage Dealt Destroyer - 300k Damage Dealt Commando - 10 Kills Soldier - 25 Kills Quick Draw - 1 Killing Blow Assassin - 1 Solo Kill Healer - 75k Healed Savior - 300k Healed Medic - 2.5k Single Heal Trauma Surgeon - 5k Single Heal Ok the above I understand . But what exactly do you do in each Warzone to get the ones below Shield - 5k Defense Protector - 50k Defense Guardian - 2k Defense in 1 Life Paladin - 10k Defense in 1 Life Offense Basic - 1k Attacker Points Offense Bronze - 3k Attacker Points Offense Silver - 5k Attacker Points Offense Gold - 7.5k Attacker Points Offense Platinum - 10k Attacker Points Offense Diamond - 15k Attacker Points Defense Basic - 1k Defender Points Defense Bronze - 3k Defender Points Defense Silver - 5k Defender Points Defense Gold - 7.5k Defender Points Defense Platinum - 10k Defender Points Defense Diamond - 15k Defender Points Any tactics or videos with commentary on how you achieve these medals in the various warzones would be great . All the videos I watched show the objectives but none explaining how the rewards are earned . Up to now the only reason I went from earning 2 or 3 medals to earning 6 to 10 is by getting better gear as I don't think I play much different .
  12. Thank you for the suggestion ,but first I rolled on EU server thats dead. levelled 4 chars to mid levels ,joined a thread on these forums and ended up starting a guild with others from the thread but on US server because most of the respondents were American I got one level 50 on there and some lower levels characters that guild grew to 200+ members and 450+ characters in game . I had technical difficulties and time issues so had to pass leader and roll EU ,since my old server is dead I had to find a populated one ,I chose Red Eclipse and am lvl 43 now ,I have not had much reponse from any older gamers Please if anyone knows of an older gamer guild please help me out .
  13. I agree and if you have lvl 50's on a low pop server like me then roll a different class and when server transfers come you can bring your other 50's across ,anything that you have unlocked will be added to your legacy when you transfer ,thats what the developers have said .
  14. I rerolled to Red Eclipse and fleet republic has 200+ on it ,I left a guild and lvl 50 on US east coast server and want to join or start a guild suitable for a 46 year old family man who loves the game . My current thread is in my signature .
  15. If anyone knows of a suitable guild for me I appreciate a link ,seems there has been a few views but no replies .Possibly most people have found a home ,I started from scratch to start the other guild ,and the other european sever were my fist toons were is low population ,so this seems to be English,PVE,and high population ,I just need to find players in my age range now ,on The Red Eclipse server .or willing to roll there my toon Overunitiy is 32 republic and have unlocked legacy on three servers now lol. I hope this is the third time lucky lol.
  16. Hope you don't mind me posting here Jae ,I 'am trying to see if I can find players like us on the server The Red eclipse . My connection issue is ok over there but looking to find a comunity like yours in my timezone . http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=446881
  17. I did start a guild in febuary for 40ish age group ,I started it on sith wyrnn east coast server it grew massive and has over 200 members ,but with connection issues I had to pass leader over ,I tried to recruit europeans since I'am from britain but bioware put my post as the US server specific thread ,I would have continued in that guild but bioware put the blocks on ,so I mooved to the red eclipse and want to try to find mature players to guld up with ,even starting a guild .I do have a thread but it has not had much feedback yet . http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=446881 If anyone knows an older guild on that server please let me know
  18. I rerolled a character on the highest population EU English speaking PVE server he is lvl 30 at the moment I hope my Shadow lvl 50 can be transfered soon ,It's worth the reroll to level a different class ,my intention is to have the Shadow join my commando on the same server ,if we get 4 players to help sign the charter and pick a name ,it would be nice to know that players are more around my age . Its a pity really that I couldn't get europeans into the other guild because all the members were very nice and helpful ,So I'am really hoping to get this one going with the same friendly membership ,I was actually very surprised how many Older gamers there were ,It blew my mind that from Febuary to May 200 people joined us ,but most played when I was asleep lol .
  19. Hello to any more mature gamers , I love the game and want to see if there are any players that play european time zone that would like to form a guild on a high population server . Edit :- I'am now lvl 50 on Red Eclipse and since it's a fantastic server with 200 on fleet there is lots of warzone pops and loads looking for Flashpoints ,but I would still like to form or join a mature group of players for the social aspect while also kicking *** . I myself am 46 have 3 children and a wife, I stopped playing mmo's for a while until I tried this game and love it . I want to do all group content in a fun environment with players who don't feel the need to seek therapy if they don't get a piece of equipment ,who are willing to use voice chat as a main form of socialising ,I hate typing when trying to discuss anything . If we can get enough interest to form a guild of players age 40ish and above we can get started . Just want to get some like minded people together to pvp and if possible 8 man boss killing
  20. a q6600 works at 50% load across 4 cores and is an older chip if he has a 775 socket mobo . sometimes you will see the gpu is doing nothing ,thats because the cpu is not fast enough to give it stuff to render ,with not enough ram the game will address the hard drive again if you dont see a complete lock up it will be unplayable during this period ,also the game will take maybe 10 minutes to close if the ram is squeezed to tight . With 64 bit os 8 gb is a minimum from my testing . To squeeze graphics ,run in windowed mode and check the native resolution of his monitor and kick it down a few notches until its playable my native is 1900 by 1200 and I find running it with far less in game resolution increases performance running in windowed vastly increased the texture quality ,so on a below minimum spec it would at least make it playable.
  21. Today , 04:14 AM | #1 EDIT REPORT POST QUOTE I would absolutely love that the levelling process for each class involve the whole game such as during your class story you were send on progressively difficult space missions ,you were asked to craft certain items to help fight the enemy and you were actually sent into player versus player to actually confront the opposite faction with a event or object ives needed to be accomplish that fed into your story . Having a meeting with your growing family of companions at the holo terminal and having to complete specific flashpoints using your companions with all this feeding into the legacy and story. This could be used to train players in all the aspects of the game and provide a challenge that you need to overcome as you level ,adding a feeling of accomplishment to the levelling process. I don't want to have to get to endgame to feel like I'am playing a challenging and fun game ,i want to experience these feeling whenever I log in ,and I feel the above points could help in that respect . Also to address the lack of flashpoint groups I feel that a comprehensive lfg tool linked to the specific mission be implemented with a timer you can activate were say after 2 minutes one of your companions can be used ,4 minutes 2 companions until such time that even if you can't get real players to group with then the level difficulty of the flashpoint be tuned to the amount of companions you need to use . Or your companions are boosted based on how many you have to use through lack of real players wanted to complete the said mission during your window of playtime. Getting groups for level 1-49 content will always be difficult unless there can be a pvp type queueing system or something like the above implemented . Even relax the reliance on tank healer dps composition for the 1-49 pve content. the flashpoints themselves can then be used to enhance and add to the story ,since there will be a way for every single player to complete them . Queue for a group mission or flashpoint knowing that once the timer is up you will actually be able to complete the challenge even if it ends up just you and your companions ,at least you can experience all the content that has had so much work put in to create . There is currently a large chunk of this effort from the developers going to waste ,I hope my ideas help . I would love to see these creative people rewarded by knowing all their hard work is being experienced by as many players as possible ,these type of creative people thrive on players enjoyment of the content they put their soul into . http://olderrepublic.enjin.com/

  23. Save yourself some heartache , Do not throw good money after bad ,The main components you would be best focus on is an i5 2500k suitable mobo capable of handling 8gb+ ram,gpu at least equal to gtx460 the best cooling system you can afford with as many fans as you can fit ,win 7 64bit .ssd drive to fit the game and win7 on . You would be far better to save towards this than spend your hard earned money trying to do it bit by bit . this game can tax high end systems my friend ,I would hate to see anyone spend money to be continually frustrated with performance issues.
