  1. does the level equalization work on ilum like it does in WZ? info says ilum is 50 only.
  2. Is it perhaps that the WOW players expect to own an army of people one level below them? SWTOR does not do this and i personally think its great. It might mean that you have to show teamwork and personal skill to win no matter your glorious gear, level or class.
  3. putting a voice chat in the game would help a fair amount. It is simply bizare to consider a massive multiplayer game where you cant play and communicate at the same time. honestly. People always look at things from nerf land. Reactionary thinking. Its not that premades are a problem. Its that there is a problem with in game communication so PUGs are at a huge disadvantage to those that can communicate. One guy spouting a few orders in chat can make a big difference. Please start saying "come with me if you want to live" and put a marker on them. thats what the markers are for right?
  4. "People are blaming the level disparity as the problem, but I don't thats a correct diagnosis, a lvl 50 in greens can be beaten by a well played lvl 30 - i know, I was doing as I'm sure many of you were. " This is a bad thing where skill beats gear/level? I think thats effin great. In fact its a selling point. I dont have to level grind or raid questing to do PvP? My buddy was telling my how if he wasnt top level with top level gear it was pointless to do pvp in wow as they would get cut down easy by someone with gear one rating better.
  5. I call that aggressive laziness. Thanks for the info folks.
  6. Whats with this forum? I dont see a way to list my own posts nor flag other posts so i can look at them later. Is there a way to do this or is this forum a little rough around the edges.
  7. yup that is not classy. But its not a show stopper... They must have had some big bugs to fix before release to get this one one the "fix it later" list.
  8. Oooh! i have got to try the force sweep more then. I just see it as a CC breaker but you make it sound really good for stats.
  9. i have a jedi consular shadow as well and i have to say that it is far easier to play than a sentinel. besides the directional posistioning for the shadows big damage attack most of the attacks require just one button press to get maximum benefit. long range 1 button stun. No need to build up focus. I like the sentinel more for some reason but its a lot harder to play then my scoundrel or shadow.
  10. I was going watchman too. Primarily for the tweaks to force leap it offeres. 12 sec cool down with no min range increases its use a good deal. But i have yet to see the 1% heals make much of a difference. Maybe i just dont see it. It really is important to note in a class the difficulty in playin it. If all i did was use the powerups when i was ready to use them they would rarely be on. I have to hit them constantly to make sure they are enabled when they can be. Otherwise the sentinel is fairly satisfying but i cant imagine playing it without a complicated keymapping or gaming pad/mouse. Even in PvE.
  11. i have an nostromo n52e but the buttons do not quite line up with the quick bar. At the moment all i can handle on the nostromo are combat skills for the most part. Things i dont really need for combat i mouse click. What about macroing the buttons?
  12. An MMO that doesnt have built voice chat puts PUGs at a dissadvantage. To me it is bizarre to have multiplayer game where people can not communicate. This relates to the post in that most any guild group is going to have vent or TS.
  13. Oh right. Im not talking rotation i think. Im saying i want to attack you and to do that i have to hit at least 3 buttons to get to minimum masxiumum damage. each attack 3 buttons. Class ease of useability can make a class appear to be over powered you know what i mean?
  14. to be clear this means i am hitting 3 or 4 buttons for most every attack. Surely other classes are different
  15. Not complaining i actually enjoy the complexity of the Jedi Sentinel. Just trying to get an idea of which class his easier to manage. I am running a Level 20 Jedi Sentinel at the moment skilled in watchman. Sometimes i take my armor off and fight naked or with just pants and accessories. at sub 20 i surely would fight naked all the time. the gear doesnt do much at that level in equalized PvP. I am not boasting here just saying... I run between 60k and 100k+ damage with no PvP gear which appears to put me in the mid to high ranks. I get 75k+ damage medals often enough. I got one medal for 2k+ damage in a hit. I feel i kill folks often enough to satisfy my need for PvP. I find that the key presses make this class a little hard to play in PvP. Hard to play = hard to get max benfit from. start of combat at range. force leap activate zen activate rebuke slash or master strike. slash prefered mostly. For each melee strike. try to ripost. just push the button. THe animation is wierd so... i have faith. periodically try to enable ZEN or Rebuke. slash untill i run out of focus. This means i am mashing thos damn button like crazy and i to kep from having to try and figure out what i am doing i just do the button sequence and then hit the last button over and over untill it goes off. Sometime i will look at my focus to see what i need to do but generally i just cant do that while PvPing and i have to rely on see the attack happen or not. if not use a focus builder... then there are the other attacks: 3 ranged attacks all on cooldowns. 2 snares 1 low damage 1 on a cooldown. ( any time snare aint bad.) 1 primary stun that never seems to work... Blade rush i think. I think master strike has a stun but i never see it work either. I cant use force sweep as its AOE damage with a tiny CC. Great for breaking CC and making people immune to CC. I dont see any body else using it either. Master strike can do a great amount of damage but getting someone to stand still for 3 secs is not easy. So its complicated and button mash heavy and the animations are decieving but when squished together it works. I am not sure i can keep up with this though. i see that there are some other power ups and atacks coming down the chain and that means i wont be able to use all the power ups and attacks any longer. i just wont be able to manage it. Whats the EULA say concerning macros? What classes are easier to play?
  16. You make it sound like instead of being punished for losing i should get rewarded for completing objectives.
  17. It was awesome but i tell you in EvE that same feeling happened in almost every single combat. from solo to group to being freaking ganked. Err except for the stupidity of the base fights where people would dock when things got rough. Stupid. First time i targgeted a hulk mining in low sec i lbood pressure must have got pretty high pressing the ok button on are you sure you want to do this. In eve the loot was part of the game i could survive by killing you and taking your crap. The problem i had with eve is getting into a fair fight. Rarely fair and almost always lopsided one way or the other. I love pvp but i hate being the bad guy. Thats just my blood. Carebear or not i dont care. I wanted to kill you but my morality kept me in check. So i did my best to kill pirates and that game in eve is not easy. It really just doesnt exist. Eve like most games gives the advantage to the bad guy.
  18. killing folks is fun but thats not enough. being charged by a suicide gank squad so that they could get RP for killing the caster in the party was not fun. Looting their corpse and stuff is OK if its done as part of the system. EvE does that well. There are life lessons to be learned from that game. But in EvE its all replaceable and if its not then it goes on a shelf to look at and show your friends or used with extreme caution. But thats not really it. These are RPG's. If i just want to kill folks... Counter strike. I want a reason to fight. a player generated reason to fight supported by the game system and IMHO this is why DAOC was a "good" PvP system and some of the others as well. Can I command 150 people and take a relic. That is not something just anyone can do. On top of that defeat 200 people trying to stop you. Can i effectively run with 8 folks to help with the same. That part of the game was thrilling. It was empowering. That is where the fun is. The stories that come from that. The loot factor and all that is just mechanics to support the above. Otherwise CounterStrike with the frozen throne mod is some of the best PvP ever done.
  19. have you guys read this or experienced this part of game? What we need here are three planets and a third main faction and we got DAOSW http://www.swtor.com/blog/new-year%E2%80%99s-pvp-update Open World PvP on Ilum: The planet of Ilum currently allows for open world PvP even on a PvE server, but the mechanics and incentives of the planet are not in as intended yet. We’re working on longer term goals for the planet and for other PvP areas, but expect to see some interim adjustments in January - such as more respawn points to focus conflicts, restricting Companion Characters from the area, and revisions to rewards. Ilum will also become a major source of Valor. Valor buffs will increase and decrease based on the objectives your faction owns. These buffs increase the amount of Valor you receive per player kill. However they do not give anything in and of themselves, so players will still need to defeat other players for significant Valor rewards. Additionally, daily and weekly missions will require player kills to complete. Player kills for quests and Valor credit will have diminishing returns per player killed. So, the more players that are fighting other players, the better it is for everyone.
  20. I dont know about he carebear part but i agree with the protection and resources. DAOC was fun when protecting a relic or trying to get it back even though it had negligable effect. The idea was fun. Eve has corpse looting... Literally. And that is fun.
  21. True and not true. Defending that base is cool. its great. hours of nothing happening and then defense. Nothing happening. hours. seriously. Yeah the fights were exilerating but the way the scenarios work was not maintainable. Eve was the same way. hunting around for a fight i can win for an hour or more and then its over in a few minutes of really intense combat. But these fights can be instanced removing the hours of tedium and boredom. Granted tedium and boredom has nostalgia to it as well and in some cases can be part of the fun but i feel certain it is not required. If its not instanced is simply is not possible to control the balance. Imagine... Something along the lines of PvP scenarios generated by PvE missions with the outcome effecting the PvE storyline. Pvp scenarios chosen by guild officers or people with a particular rank in PvE. Thats where the logical next step is. IMHO. Personallly i think DOAC was basically a much more complicated counterstike if counterstike had terrible controls, many more people, and terrible team balance. But... maybe that just doesnt work for whatever reason.
  22. The folks that did early DAOC PvP worked really hard to do it. When i think on it now it blows my mind. It was so much work. What daoc had going for it was a concept of a persistent PvP world seperate from the PvE world but slightly effecting the PvE world. but its painfully obvious that they really did not have a clue how PvP would actually work from release and that affected the whole thing. Class and game balance. Pretending that they did understand PvP is not productive. But they did try new stuff and it was fun figuring it out especially for the hard core. instanced PvP is the way to go. Planning what scenarios will be available from outside of PvP will make things a lot of fun if they have PvE effects. Its the logical step. EvE is essentially doing this with dust.
  23. Good thread. I like it so far. Eager to try more. Im an old school DAOC player but i simply do not have the time to play all day like i did back then. I see that this has the possibility to have much more rewarding "RvR" than daoc while incorporating casual PvP. To me thats exciting. I mean hell i was crafting WHILE PvP'ing. How great is that!
  24. hey guys can you give win7 cpu score to compare high and low FPS in warzone? start menu->right click computer->properties->rating->processor-> score. i was running a P4D with a GTX 560 (dont ask why please) and was getting about 5 FPS in warzone. That proc score in windows is about 4.5
