  1. I subbed for 3 months; and wish I had canceled before I started paying. On, I think BW will get it right and the game will be decent in 6 mos or so; but will it get before GW2 or some other major player takes the stage? Nope. Kudos to those have a great time. I tried and it's just not working out for me.
  2. 1. Faction Imbalance will never truly be fixed. There are some things they could do to offset the issue- larger WZ (AV type) that feel more like world PVP, multi-server queues, etc. Mergers won't even be on the table for 6-12 months for a plethora of reasons... or unless 90% quit...and that's not going to happen. 2. I'm not expert, but the gist that I have gotten from many sources is their game engine isn't the best to begin with. Making Imperial mirror abilities longer seems to be the easiest way, but even AE/BW know where the majority of their subs are right now- alienating Imperials isn't in the their best interests. So again, learn to deal with it or reroll. 3. AE/BW have not given up yet- in fact it will take 5-6 months before that decision is made. I base that on the length of subs that were likely purchased. Unfortunately- if you paid for 3-12 months- you are screwed. Your rage quit means nothing- they have your money. Until that subs disappears... AE won't know or care about the numbers. That's going to take time. No matter how frustrated you are... the game isn't even 3 months old yet. In short- the first sign of difficulty will be the next time they come out with a special perk and substantial savings on extended subs.
  3. It's getting old to open a thread and have something to contribute only to find that it's been closed. Not all of them are over 1000 posts either. If it's closed- why is it still accessible? If the Devs or Monitors felt strongly enough about the issue to terminate further discussion... then put it in the trash already?
  4. There's a huge difference between interacting with others to accomplish a common goal- and chatting up a storm to get an invite. Your goal seems to be making friendly with one and all; while the single-player is more interested in getting gear and moving on. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT... DON'T USE IT!? How difficult is that. Folks that don't like to PVP... don't join PVP servers... and hopefully soon we won't be forced to PVP unless they choose too. You don't like LFD tools... macros or addons... when they come... don't use them. Makes me wonder if you are more afraid of becoming negligible... than any real reason.
  5. I'm thankful that even when my sub expires- I'll still be able to read the forums. In short- no LFD tool... no subcription. Rift has a decent one- and I'm going to give them my money and play there. Candidly- everyone bashing it... I hope your majority is enough to keep the content flowing for you. I'm not saying in anyway that SWTOR is dying or will be dead. It won't... but the more money AE makes... the faster new content will be produced. The opposite is also true. Careful what you wish for. Cutting off a portion of the would-be subcribers to save your precious idea of community... will have reprecussions.
  6. I have managed a couple decent experiences- fact is I started "Wow Vanilla" and actually struggled for a while. I remember it took me 4 months to get to cap; and of all the games I've played since- that's probably the one facet I miss the most. This getting to cap in 7-10 days is ridiculous; yet now its almost standard for new MMO's. This one- there's plenty of content, but most will never see it because the xp curve is too steep. Also- the Star Wars genre actually hurt the gameplay imho, because too many of us who grew up on it... had too many preconcieved notions about what it should have been and judged the content, etc accordingly. For SWTOR- it would have been better to 'stick to the original script'...and introduced Empire PVP... the same way LOTRO introduced Monster PVP. For one thing- faction imbalance would never have been at issue. Where I"m coming from: Left Wow for LOTRO (good experience/lifetime), then Aion (SWTOR bad for different reasons), then back to LOTRO...then Perfect World (nothing perfect about it)... then to Rift (good experience)... then to SWTOR... and candidly- I'm going back to Rift. Their 1.7 patch was alot more exiciting than any SWTOR has put out...or will in the near future. Luck folks.
  7. Dying for me- is when you and a bunch of friends (almost an entire guild of folks... 27 in my case...) join the game; and only 5 of them decided to play past their free 30 days. Of those... I've given up- it's unlikely I will even level a single toon to 50 at this point... so now only 4 of 27 opted to stick it out. I'm sure not everyone has had such an upset... but how many do you have to lose before you think the game's in trouble? Oh- we all played for Republic.
  8. ... which AE/BW could have resolved by increasing the population caps and/or added additional resources to existing worlds instead of adding more servers. Same use of resources.
  9. "Goody 2 shoes" The 'evil' options are really just sarcasm; theren't that many actual kills- some back-stabbing. It's nothing to get excited about. I have a smuggler that I took dark side; and I have to send my companion away for every cut-scene or decision I make. Zero points is better than negative points on companion affection.
  10. Hate to burst your bubble- but that's already true. Or worse- you've got folks like me (and I'm not an isolated incidence) who are paid up through March... making my server seem like it has more people; but in reality I rarely play anymore. I pop in here every other day checking the Dev tracker, the PTR forums, and this one... hoping in vain that something good will be annouced that will rekindle my interest. The poster says there are 153 online... I wonder how many Subs (people with toons on that servcer) are there actually? I wager it's a lot more than 153! Until we are all 'officially' gone... I don't see any merger happening.
  11. 1. I have a .000001% chance to influence possible change that might make the game better and I have a chance to disagree with some of the truly bad suggestions. 2. I have more interaction with others on the forums than I do in game at the moment. Unpopulated worlds and all that. 3. No server transfer available, no UI custumization, or XP stop- give me something to work with. 4. I'm paid up through the end of March. 5. I can't get a refund That's it in a nutshell
  12. Makes sense- their stock took a big hit last year... and even though its creeping up since release- it's not shooting through the roof- and if the game was a huge success and holding most of its subs... it would be.
  13. The problem is faction imbalance- not low population per ce. You have 5:1 Imperial to Republic... for argument sake... well merging those a couple servers isn't going to change that fact and while Republic might have healthy population... Imperial side will be a nightmare and queues will start up again. It'll take a significant exodus of players... over a 45-90 day period of time before any kind of merger would be considered. Also- consider this: I bought a 90 day sub. I'm 2 weeks into it and decide I made a bad decision and opt to go elsewhere. So far as AE/BW is concerned... they have my money... I'm still an active sub until at least 30 days go by... maybe even my whole term. So officially I'm not gone until the end of March? My decision not to play... contributes to the appearance of a low population... but the hard numbers don't change for quite a while yet. Until they do... (not me specifically) but I don't see AE/BW making a policy change.
  14. As a consequence- it feels more like a BETA than a finished product. We can all see and feel it. I think they'll sort it out; but I don't think they'll do it in time. They are losing more (subs) than they should. This weekend I went back to Rift, since 1.7 is out and I still have time left on my sub... I didn't even think about swtor. I have time left here too; but I doubt I'll play much more. If/when I get sick of Rift and assuming there isn't something else out.. GW2... I might come back.
  15. No- content is there. EASILY already in place. I've posted this a dozen places already... I did most of the quests on Taris- no flashpoint, no heroics, no space combat, no pvp... and I'm almost level 24. Taris is supposedly just level 16-20. Seen posts that all the planets are like that, but the linear quest lines keep you from skipping too far ahead... Content is there. Devs screwed up the XP curve...
  16. Sure- when it's finally out of BETA... might be worth a second look
  17. If that were true- their LFG tool would be more than it is. I have easily proven that grouping is not remotely needed or required to finish the story and get to cap... at which point end-game is under-developed. And you think it's not a single player game? How do you figure? I solo heroics on my commando all the time.
  18. It's all a pipe dream now. Folks have decided- all Devs can do is fix the bugs and mirror class issues and hope in time the factions balance out. IF they had had any hope or intention of applying a fix for the balance- they would never had instituted same faction WZ. The PVP pressure was really their only leverage... and they gave it up.
  19. Get rid of commendations and commendation vendors. Problem solved.
  20. Actually- they are welcome to tell me they are done in combat- SO LONG AS THEY JOIN THE FIGHT! Otherwise- I agree totally with poster.
  21. Don't set your sights so low- Let the starship size be representative of Guild numbers/accomplishment... If you have 200-500 members... a frigate would be a little crowded.
  22. I'd rather see dual-spec before LFG. Have you considered that nobody cares to level as a tank? I have a tank advanced spec... but I don't have a single point in the Defense tree right now nor do I have any intention of spending coin to respec repetitively for instances and leveling. (I hear it gets quite expensive as you level.) If you are having that much trouble- join a guild that's leveling in your range.
  23. Nobody invests the time to make something for a game that has a 50/50 chance to fall on its face. Give it 6 mos or so...
  24. Easy way to find out- see if you can equip a red/blue crystal in their lightsaber (opposite whatever you are)... see if its accepted. Assuming you bothered to give your companions moddable weapons. (I did where I could)
