  1. I really hope they do mass server MERGES to some mega servers for each server/ type/timezone and then allow you 1 free server transfer that you have to petition for and submit a request for it. If they just had server transfers, everyone would transfer to Fatman/other highly populated ones and then we would have queues to sign on all over again. I really like the people on my server Master Zhar Lestin, (not the pvp cheaters, Rep and Imps, ive reported both) and even on a standard/light server found a good guild and talk with people in fleet. When there is only 40 of us lvl 50s on we recognize each other over time. Server merges would keep people together and if they dont have a good reason to transfer, it would keep that community mostly.
  2. Coming from someone who played Scrapper for 40-50... you can Shoot First->fechette round->back blast before that knockdown is over. But that is beside the point, the real problem is that people dont know when to use their CC breaker and probably don't know where the Resolve Gauge is. Every Class has a KO pattern that can be used on a player that uses their CC too early. Sorcs have one, Snipers have one. People just complain about Operatives/Scoundrels because they STAND on the side of a battle, get hit by a scapper opener, see their life bar drop to around half (all of my burst with Tendon Blast if needed) and then die because when you are at half life, YOU GET FOCUSED BY OTHER CLASSES. So many times this happens and I die right after I help kill a person cause at that moment I get focused down too.
  3. That disappoints me, I enjoy planning. But I will go with your advice and just have the Cybertech 49s for my pve gear and companion gear. Make an earpiece, then switch over to Armortech.
  4. Hi everyone, I am lvl 48 with close to 2000 comms and a lvl 400 cybertech. Soon I will be entering into the realm of lvl 50 PVP. I know I will not be very good for a while but I at least want the best way to gear up and help my team as much as possible. When I hit lvl 50 I will use my Comms on Battlemaster Gear and i can buy Recruit gear. As well I can make my lvl 49 mods and armorings for slots to be used in and out of pvp. What is the best combination of equipment and progress based on expterise in PVP and just raw stats. I have an ok amount of money 1 mil saved up with lots fo UT metals I could use or sell). My theory is: Use my Comms to get BM gear for non slottable equipment (Waist, offhand, Wrists, Implant) if I have enough (probably not with 2000 comms). Buy Recruit equipment until I have a large amount of Expertise and it is too much for diminishing returns. I have read pre 1.2 that this was 500 expertise. I have not done the math on how many pieces this is but I'll find out. Buy the non slottable equipment first (since I'm a Cybertech I'll make a lvl 49 earpiece). Equip Orange Gear (I dont have orange augmented gear...) on all other slots with lvl 49 mods or any others I can find. I will be making this stuff anyway for pve (i want to be good at both) so its not a hassle. Is this viable? Is Cybertech lvl 49 mods useless in pvp from Recruit equipment? Is Armormech a better Crew skill to have to hope for a slotted augment? Should I have posted this in the noob friend New Player Help Forum? Please, point me in the right direction and maybe others will follow. Then us fresh 50s on your team wont be as bad.
  5. As a Scoundrel, I have to open up on them, then it becomes a fight of whether or no I can get behind him enough times. Its a pretty good fight sometimes. They arent that bad, though I have to burn almost every defensive CD (not my vanish) to beat one in a reasonable time. PVP isnt a 1v1 game either. I just wish their heal debuff was dispellable. It will cost me a 4 sec cooldown and a global. Thats enough to hinder anyone that even notices it with the terrible buff sizing. Let's be honest, the influx of Sent/Mara with this debuff has lead to fewer people being healers.
  6. Right now with the LFG tool being next to useless (I always flag myself, but it rarely rarely helps), I suggest you join a casual guild. It will help a little in finding people your lvl that might like to group. Theres also channels that are created on servers, though thoses are even worse then the LFG tool.
  7. I believe this is happening across the board, not just with Marauders and Sorcs. I have started playing DPS after playing Healer before. Healers die rather quickly. Before as a healer I could use every defensive cooldown I had and my weak instant heal to just barely get it if a few dps were focusing me (using LOS to stop the damage). Now the healing cant keep me alive at all. As a dps I look for the healers, open up on them, then CC them when they try to cast something, interuppt the next heal that comes out and they should be dead by then.
  8. Merry Xmas! http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=147661 You will probably get faster answers to questions like this in the New Player Help Section. I have my movement keys as "esdf" and s is strafe left and f is strafe right.
  9. As I hit lvl 40 I have begun to PVP much more to give more variety to leveling and learn more of my class and what other classes can do. As a Scoundrel I have tried healing and dps (both fun) and while I am not a veteran player, I think these should be the changes to PVP rewards: I do like requiring 1 medal to at least get any Money/Comms/Valor 1) Create 2 "types" of medals that reward the player with Commendations differently. -Skill Medal- These medals will deal with your individual character's dps/healing/tanking. They will be the same as before but these medals will have a diminishing returns aspect where after 3, you will begin to get fewer Comms for them until 6 which would not give any. This will lessen farming in matches like Huttball but still give something to every class as some are less "Objective" based characters then others *cough* Scoundrels *cough* -Objective Medal- These medals will be rewarded for defending/scoring/planting. These medals will be separate from the Skill medals and will have to do with things that win you games. Killing the ball carrier in Huttball. Defending/fighting next to a turret on Alde. Stopping a takeover in Coast. Fighting near the doors in Voidstar. These medals will not have diminishing returns, promoting more objective based playing. Winners should get added Comms for winning, but not be strictly hindering some great losers from getting more Comms then bad winners. 2) Increase Money given to players in PVP. It seems very low right now, especially compared to PVE where I can gather/kill mobs/get quest rewards. Gathering itself with the GTN is a big way I get money, and it helps me refine my crew skills. There are so many benefits to PVE already, it doesn't need to be the only way to make money. 3) Take Valor AWAY from deserters. No Comms, no money, negative Valor. Not a lot, but enough to deter someone from wanting to leave at the first sign of losing. While this is harsh to people who may have to leave for whatever reason, you shouldn't be PVPing if you have to constantly leave cause your kid is trying to hurt the cat. Teach the kid not to do it, then come back and PVP more. Valor isnt hard to get, but some negative amounts will add up for repeat offenders. It makes sense doesn't it? You have less "Valor" then before because you "deserted" your comades. 4) Give more Dailies for PVP! You need more things then just *Win* for people and to give them awards. Have daily medal amounts, Kill counts, things like that. 6-3 a team in Huttball.... Just more goals for people to want to keep playing in blowouts or lost causes. I wish they gave us better stat information too. I want to know my K/D ratio. My Win/Loss count and my averages so I can brag about them to the people I really care about, the people on the internet.
  10. Love it, though I think this is way too much Ragkhoul stuff. We need more variety in the new stuff. Mando stuff, Kilik stuff, Pirates stuff. Just other stuff. Can we have the Wookie planet already? Jawa Revolts! Wampa Invasions!
  11. In my experience with 1.2, scoundrel burst heal only comes when you have properly placed 4-6 SMP on people and you get 3 upperhands when you have 3 upper hands you have so much versatility. Scrapper... Ive started playing it after 1.2 and it does still seem pretty powerful. I dont know if people use vital shot to do more damage with flying fists and when the enemy is running away Sabo Charge into thermal for some last ditch damage. Ive killed a few people by adding that in and they thought they had escaped. Its not a bad class, just you need to be constantly moving and LOSing people. to get off constant backblasts I just move through enemies...
  12. I rolled on a Standard Server in my timezone (Master Zhar Lestin) and every once in a while I think about this. It can be hard to get groups for normal mode FPs. It can be hard to find things on the GTR. It can be hard to do any heroics on planets. But I found a nice guild (largest Rep guild on the server) and everyone has been very nice and easy to get along with. I wont say there arent bad players on the server, but I think that the community is overall experienced with MMO playing and anyone who is not (like this Married couple I helped though Esseles) was responsive to advice. Heavy/Very Heavy servers can be swamped with more terrible and annoying players. If you are bad on a Standard server, you remember who was bad/annoying. If I could, I would want 1.5 more people on my server, but I think standard servers have a good mix of population and community.
  13. This will always be a big server problem. I have honestly never had or seen this problem. At most I have ever seen someone leave a WZ in the middle of the match and I couldnt tell if it was because were losing or the person had better things to do (that happens). Maybe because I am on one of the decent standard servers that PVP Queue solo or by myself can take 5-10 mins that people don't choose to leave and instead want to get higher medal counts or scores for more comms. I remember a couple huttball games that the game was out of hand and everyone just spent time killing each other. That's fun too... Of course I don't Queue constantly and I am usually doing quests or datacrons, so PVP is a pleasant surprise. I am not that great a pvper myself, still a noob, but usually people that complain about their teams losing are the main reason that team is losing.
  14. HOLY COW BATMAN Seriously people, You complain that you don't get information from Devs. They give you a little information. You complain that you got too little information from the Devs. They give you a bit more information and an small explanation. You complain because this information doesn't fit your idea of what is right or wrong. The devs let you test on a PTS server and make statisical arguments with a new combat log. You complain because they won't copy over one of your 5 lvl 50 characters... I'm glad the forum population is 5% of the game population, cause I really don't want to deal with 95% of the people here ever. If there is another game out there that responds to player forums anywhere near the amount that this one does besides a Indy game, let me know. Let me know how long its been in Skyrim since you have had a bug as well. Half of the questions were not that informatory, but someone asked the question, why don't you go aggressively post about how stupid that person is? It's like getting angry at a Teacher that answers a stupid question from a Student... The other half was s small amount of good information, such as the reason for the healing nerfs. Just enough information where people won't complain "omg wall of text" or read the first sentence, think its too long, and post anyway. Edit: Btw thank you Devs. I do not agree with everything you have said but weekly Q&A sessions do help illuminate some topics. I care about the server merges as well, but that was answered a while ago. No ETA, jsut "in the future". I would guess 1.3.
  15. I have been trying to create Community as much as possible. To do that I: Say something in General Chat that hopefully spurs conversation: "Did anyone watch the new Community/Modern Family/ Hunger Games movie?" Usually that doesnt work, but every once in a while. When I sign on, I ALWAYS ALWAYS set an LFG Comment. I use it all the time, though sadly too few people do, including the ones that are looking for groups. Weekdays its hard to get a group, even when I try to bug ingame friends or guild members. Try to be helpful in Chat. I told everyone I could that the 40 minute balloon was coming on Tatooine for the Datacron because everyone can use it. No one came... Joined a Guild with some nice players, and try to get groups going around the same level. People miss chat conversations because they are busy with questing or whatnot. I played 2 other MMOs before, and I have always had friends that started up with me and I quested with. This is the first MMO that I am going solo and I have tried to do as many Heroics and FPs as possible. I am on a Standard Server PVE and the Community has been... ok. There are times that it is terrible and too quiet on Tatooine. Server Merges might help this the most though.
  16. Thanks a lot for the response, I'll go give the Fleet Vendors my money. Or make someone on the GTN happy.
  17. The other day I finally got 6 Matrix Shards and thought "hurray time to get 2 Matrix Cubes and be overpowered" on my lowly character. I quickly found out that I can only make one of them at a time and the other shards are going to me a waste. Oh well, though I wish I knew this sooner. But now I am looking into trying to get other relics for me and my Companions. I have a few questions: How are people getting Relics? Are they only item drops? Can you buy them? Many relics have Alignment requirements, does that mean that I can't use them on my companions? Thanks in advance! I am an avid reader of guides and looking up info, but I can't seem to find any on Relics.
  18. Revan's ideals about positive emotions somewhat carried onto the New Jedi Order that Luke Skywalker founds after he kills Palatine. I like this point of view myself, nuturing is good, out of control is bad. Though still being in control of those emotions so is still important so you don't end up like little old Anakin and be manipulated into killing millions of "good" people to fail at saving your wife.
  19. I suggest everyone on low pop servers reroll onto a High standard/Heavy server. You can start a new Alt there and have fun that way. When server transfers do come around, move your previous character to the same one as your new one. They can manually transfer characters to the PTS now, but it must take a lot of time (or a lot of intern time... copy paste wait 4 hours to finish...) as they are only doing it for specific guild testing. I am on a low standard server that has a nice community, and its not TOO hard to find people to do FPs during the weekend.
  20. I used it one time on a Heroic where my tanking companion was out and I was carrying the group as a healer. An Elite Add came out of nowhere and it was truly a "Heroic Moment". I also use it on some of the last class mission bosses... just to feel epic.
  21. This ia very good writeup in this very forum area: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=147661 I have been a keybinder my whole life and it was always harder when you have to change your buttons around when you get new skills. Make sure to take some time and pick what makes sense to you. You don't NEED a fancy mouse, I don't use more then a cheap one.
  22. To "Renew Subscription", the button should be: "Please take me back! I was wrong, I will never leave again!... You didn't delete all my stuff did you? Ok good."
  23. I'm on Master Zhar Lestin, a PVE server that when I first joined was "Standard". I havent checked in a while but it does have a Standard-Light server status. Primetime Weekend- Republic 85 people in the fleet 20 people on planets (Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine) Just a merge with a light server would give us the perfect amount of people where we wouldnt be fighting over quests but could still find people to do FPs and Heroics while lvling. I refuse to reroll my main because I really do not want to redo datacrons or any of the longer bonus quests.
  24. I know how you feel about your hand getting lost on the "big button". What I actually did a long time ago was change my "movement keys" (normally wasd) to "esdf" because I can always feel the indented part of my "f" key and know where my fingers are. Also touching Shift with my pinky helps too. Play however you want, I use a 2 button mouse with a scroll wheel, haha.
  25. Nice writeup, though I have one suggestion. If you have certain unique skills that you use rarely, put them on a "shift+letter that it begins with" keybind. Example: I use Shift+T as my Tranquilizer Dart that I have to use while Stealthed and not in Combat. The skills you dont use often should be on easy to remember keys, and the shift+ whatever can give you more options.
