What is this dilemma you speak of? Blanket statements tell us about as much as what they've told us about the legacy system.

There is reason behind the lack of information on what is to come in the Legacy system. One of the major factors is that they don't want to say something and later have to take it back... it makes people unhappy to expect something and it turns out it needs to be taken out last minute due to issues (match color to chest system for example) Plus Bioware can surprise us better instead of knowing everything there is to know and thus taking new system as some lackluster feature that people just glaze over and move on.

We forget one thing... Sidious is a Master of the Sith who studied all of Vitiate's knowledge and the dozens of other Sith after Vitiate. With all these vs threads we often need to remember that the later Jedi/Sith have compounded knowledge of those who came before, typically speaking.

Naturally no world can be as big as... well an entire world... That'd take far to much resources and developer time to build out every facet. Also it'd take load times EVEN longer. Walls are great in terms of development practices as they allow great use of occlusion mapping, which will reduce an area's draw calls.. So unless you want more performance drops issues and what have you, be thankful we have something to break up the environments a tad. As the engine progressions and SWTOR grows I'm certain we'll see more expansive landscapes.

Question.... are you asking for improved technology in this timeline? Really you should be asking "why are we having future stuff, we should be in the PAST!!! I never really understand this issue when it comes to people thinking TOR should be further along in the technological divide. There is 3,000 years between this timeline and movies.... there is a chance here the Republic and galaxy as a whole regresses in technology due to some terrible thing. There are years unaccounted for (or are accounted) A Republic Taris questline kinda shows how technology and civilizations can go in reverse due to war and devastation.
