  1. When Blizzard made the changes to WoW's talent system at the onset of MoP, I was re-specing frequently based on the encounter we were facing. I was healing, mainly changing one or twos points to add some utility or take on an extra task during the fight. I believe the system worked out in the end. SWTOR is barely one day into disciplines, so it is really early to judge how the new system will play out. During my first pass on the sage tree (very quick pass to boot), it felt like it reflected the very limited variations I had to play with in the points system -- just a different screen. We'll see. Quite frankly, more than the talent system, my issue is whether to remain on the Bastion. It is beginning to remind me of the dark days before server merges and f2p.
  2. My two cents here.. well, more like a quarter: My pack purchases are usually in spurts, although I'm finding my purchases occur less often now. First, because of the cost of swapping out mods, my toons tend to find a suit and stick with it. Secondly, I've felt a little burned by the quality of the items sometimes. When you've been wanting a set and little graphical glitches occur, it's very de-motivating. I don't trust the gear to look / perform as it does in previews anymore. Finally, it's rare that I can't find the equipment I want in the GTN anyway at a decent price. Mounts aren't a huge factor for me. I don't collect them. My toons usually get assigned a vehicle that goes along with whatever gear scheme I've chosen. I also ignore pets. I don't purchase packs in hopes of getting a specific item. The risk / reward is too much of an unknown for my tastes. I bought a bunch of the crystal packs mainly because it was fun. I like color crystals. And it was fun for me to buy a bunch and see what I got. The decision though was based on "I like crystals.. this is fun", not "how is this stuff going to sell". In terms of selling for credits, I've purchased packs and an occasional hyper crate to sell. Recently, I've done a character rename or two. I'd rather sell packs than gear. True, it is fun scoring and selling a super expensive item but I also end up with a ton of garbage that doesn't move. I'd rather just sell upfront and let someone do the gambling.
  3. I'm not alone in this: the number of times I've been forced to transfer via server migration and consolidations outnumbers the times I've transferred on my own. And for those of us with multiple 55s / crafting alts, moves must be planned.
  4. It's hard for me to imagine a scenario where the game survives the demise of the Harbinger beyond the consolidation each server type (PVE -- PVP -- RP) into a regional mega server.... 3 servers.. one for PVE, one for PVP, and one for RP.
  5. And everyone else... thank you for your feedback. It is much appreciated.
  6. Yes... I play primarily pub; I do have imp toons though. Similar experience on Xeno HM last week. Looking at fleet is a poor method to determine but imp fleet populations are often 2-3 times that of pub-side. A Who on operations on both sides will shows similar disparity.
  7. I have no experience with PVP on a PVE Server. I'd like to know about areas on PVE servers where you will get flagged for PVP. Just a couple places come to mind (I imagine): Outlaw's Den & the Gree Event / Southern Area. Not sure about the rest of Ilum. I can't remember about possible areas for Rakghoul Resurgence events.
  8. I'm currently of a resident of the Bastion... been on a PVP or RP-PVP since launch (RIP Ajunta Pall) ... and am seriously thinking of transferring one last time to the Harbinger. I'd like to get back into operations but there doesn't seem to be much of a base anymore. There are still lots of players doing many different things but operations doesn't appear to be one of them. Yes, the existing operations are a bit stale, and EA really needs to release something new in this area. I've also a few threads and conversations about PVPers transferring because of the competition. Regardless of PVP or PVE, the Harbinger certainly seems to have the biggest mass of players. So it all makes me wonder.. is The Harbinger the new Fatman?
  9. I work in Silicon Valley on the technical side of things. I understand the nature of these kind of systems and fixes aren't always obvious or easy. Nonetheless, we can sometimes perform minor miracles in a productive overnight of crunching on a solution to a problem. Our little part of the world (the valley as a whole) hasn't achieved what it has because it has been worried about the end of business on a Friday. EA solves a problem like this and patches it early Saturday morning? My response: HOT DAMN.
  10. I've had this weekend blocked on my calendar for a quite while and have been really looking forward to nerd'ing out for 3 days. Shutdown the world. Put on my SW blu-rays on the TV continuously. And grind, grind, grind. My goal was to get the last couple of toons past the point of where my legacy can get my final presence bonuses and more to the point for my main. I was specifically going to squat in Kuat for leveling. Double XP + Legacy Flashpoint XP + Boost + 10% guild. Yeah, I am disappointed and disheartened. Part of my plan this weekend: ignore gearing a companion while shooting through levels. I'm one of the players that likes to keep gear decent and current while leveling. This weekend would have been a huge credit saver to boot. Credits are easy to come but why blow a million credits throughout the leveling process when you don't have to. Yes, this bug in the scope of the game is just one little thing. And by itself, it is just a little thing. A lot of little things consistently and cumulatively makes me question whether EA really cares about SWTOR. And if EA doesn't care about it, I find myself asking what I should either. We're a few days from a new Diablo launch, and a 50% xp bump is in force until then. A Dark Souls 2 CE is sitting unopened in my kitchen waiting to be played. I have a huge MoP bucket list for achievements in WoW. And Starcraft... always lagging in what I want to do there. Your suggestion about how EA should respond is a good one.
  11. While I really appreciate the sentiment, it won't happen happen. EA would probably have to license the name from Blizzard's Diablo 3 forums.
  12. My plan is keep my subscription and keep playing. I'm still having fun.
  13. My experience so far as a healer in lower leveled / bolster instances of Kuat ... more mobs than usual are beating on me because tanks/dps are doing their own thing, pulling multiple packs without regard to who else is pulling their own pack, etc. It seems like a nice enough instance that gets a little frustrating when it feels like others are not having to pay attention to the degree that I must to keep folks from dying. Don't sign me up for T.H.A.T. but I'm reading the pamphlets again. ps: it would be nice to see more than reputations / tokens drop in the instances.
  14. I play on a Macbook Pro 2011 and an iMac (late 2013 .. just purchased). Personally, I wouldn't run games through an emulator like Parallels. Switching to Windows via Boot Camp is painless and quick. I put extra everything in the iMac and run the game on Ultra everything, generally 60-100 frames. ( Work justifies the extra expense. /winkwink ). The 2011 laptop, combination of lower/higher, and it's completely playable. I would encourage more memory than less but one that about any system. An interesting read: iA pro with serious workstation needs reviews Apple’s 2013 Mac Prop/url] from Ars Technica. Read the section on Price: ""I joked on Twitter that Apple's Mac Pro deal is this: "buy two discounted FirePro W9000 cards and get a workstation for free," and that's not an exaggeration. "" To be fair, I know the price argument goes toward lower and mid end and not workstations. But like I wrote: it's an interesting read. I am a technical professional in Silicon Valley many many years out of college. Extra money over the lifespan of the machine isn't a big deal. It isn't for a lot of people. I'd rather come home (well.. go to work too) in an OS X interface and shell than a Windows one. Sure, we can list grievances and counter examples but generally my macs just work. I don't have to screw with them. Windows has gotten better over the years, but Windows is still Windows.
  15. Watch the original black and white Mickey Mouse cartoons. Mickey can be a total rat bastard when he gets angry!
  16. Confirming as well. It's a little frustrating to get a what looks like a neat looking set of armor but then have it visually bug when a toon runs. Quite frankly, I won't use armor with bugs like that present. The Regal mini-skirt suffers from the last kind of clipping that the Last Handmaiden's exhibit. Tested on female toons with body types 1 and 2. I do not have type 3 or 4. I know a common answer to the question of these kinds of bugs: would you like us (ea) to fix old bugs or work on new things? Honestly, I would prefer ea fix these old bugs. It would give me confidence in making further cartel purchase.
  17. Currently, the first Defense Enhancement available is Defense Enhancement 11 usable for lvl 27s. Online research is showing me that Defense Enhancements at 6 usable by level 17s. Does anyone know how to obtain this one or even the ones in between 6 and 11? I'd like to roll a guardian or juggernaut who will level largely through flash points. I'm looking to gear the toon out and not be that squishy tank guy everyone hates to heal. I have max level synthweaving on another toon but haven't re'ed lower level pieces into defense-stat gear. Kind of hoping that isn't my only option. The GTN on my server (Bastion) doesn't have what I need available. One defense enhancement 7 (can't re) that comes from a droid core. I bought one for 25K in hopes to RE but it says research not available even after equipping in a orange piece. FYI. I already have 4 55s. This toon won't be rushing to get anywhere; it will be for the fun of doing / playing. So the whole skip-level-fast doesn't really apply.
  18. Question was asked and answered at the SF Cantina Stop last month. PVP was done first because it was easier to implement than PVE and there is a demand for it . PVE could come later if Galactic Star Fighter is a success.
  19. As subs, we're getting early access but we're not exactly paying a new 'expansion'. I do say expansion loosely because I view this as a really new game system versus standard expansion (new tier / raid / flashpoint / etc). Personally, I'd love an option just pay them $XX.XX and not have to do nickels and dimes in the cartel shop.
  20. At the SF Cantina Tour, this question was asked. From what I loosely remember, I think the developers mentioned there were technical issues with legacy wide on GSF.
  21. I should have figured it for a set belonging to the class with which I'm least familiar. TY!
  22. http://www.swtor.com/info/news/blog/20130611 Above link is from the Archon's pack, I'm looking specifically at the picture of the Model B28 Extinction-Class Bomber. What is the black armor that the sith / imp is wearing called? Is it still available? Thanks in advance.
  23. I did the read the link. I'm not surprised that a new game system breaks an entirely unrelated feature in the game. It has happened before and will happen again. What I'm not doing is getting excited about it because I stood 15 feet from the man in charge of the game at the Cantina Tour stop and listened to him say what I originally posted.
  24. At the San Francisco Cantina Tour, we did have some developer-community dialogue. The community did ask about the future of space on rails. The answer was that it was not being removed but don't expect more from it. Galactic Star Fighter is the future. The PVP vs PVE question was also asked. EA is starting with PVP. If the expansion takes off, PVE content is possible down the road. To me, that means don't expect PVE anytime soon. Now whether the new expansion will bring some bugs into the game.. well, we all play the same game here and know what to expect.
  25. EA provided an open bar and kitchen. Kudos for this. Free pet in game. Signed poster. I think the beta NDA is in effect until morning so I'm leaving my notes related to Galactic Star Fighter out. I will say this: it's going to rock and I'm really looking forward to it. From Jeff Hickman's introduction: 10 million + account created. 1 million + playing monthly. My burning question: I am sick of boot camping my mac for TOR. I asked one of the developers about an OS X client, whether it was a limitation of the Hero Engine or a business decision. He told me it could be made to work (not that it was easy but it could be done ) but EA didn't really see a business case for it. My wallet disagrees but I like I got a no-bs answer. Fair enough. Some notes From The Q&A * Hood toggles .. on to do list but don't expect soon * Dual-spec / gear swap remains on to do list but don't expect soon * Why PVP spaceflight over PVE spaceflight ... player demand ... easier to release with less AI, scripting .. if successful, could lead to more content * Audience asked about changes to the leader board... response: "It's a day old!" ... funny moment. * Audience made request for legacy list, legacy bank... there are technical problems re: performance and storage Nothing earth shattering was revealed during the Q & A ... i personally didn't expect anything to be. The night was really about galactic star fighter, and folks were pretty straight with their answers imo. I'm a HUGE critic of EA ( because of so many mistakes and mis-steps in games over recent years ) but it was pretty clear to me that the guys on stage care about the game. That's really encouraging, at least for TOR. I've gone to Blizzcon for the last four years. Server communities have been really damaged with LFDs/LFRs in Azeroth, and it's really easy to forget how big Warcraft really is outside your guild community -- as well as the fact that there are people behind blue posts. SWTOR communities are better imo but it's still really easy to forget that there people behind the yellow posts and behind the toons in game. These kind of events help keep that all in perspective. There were lots of excited players (fair to say most subscribers .. most folks raised their hands when the spot poll was taken) there tonight, including one guy in a scout trooper costume. Whoever has a picture of that .. please post it!
