  1. You win the dumb quote of the week award. If you want to join a guild that offers a variety of chances to do end-game content, you won't find that in a tiny guild. And you won't find any of the casual players from "mega-guilds" taking over planets. It'll be the progression raid teams (PLURAL) who take down nightmare content on a weekly basis.
  2. Nefra (the first boss) is an easy fight in story mode. The only mechanic that can really cause problems is the droid that comes out and self destructs. The only scenario I can think of that would have caused the group to focus so much on you would be if the droid agroed onto you and you used your pulse-detonator ability to kick him into the middle of the group causing massive damage.
  3. Make your way to the tunnels. Buy a relic from the vendor. It gives immunity on use, and has a 5 second CD. The most expensive one costs 20k and require lvl 45, but there's also one for lvl 25 and 35. Plus it gives better stats than other relics in the game, for the level, so there's that too. Requires Newcomer status with T.H.O.R.N. (Oh the horror! the outrage! Get over it)
  4. Why not take it in a new direction instead of mashups of existing classes. With a new level cap looming in a future update, possibly later this year, how about introducing a new playable race(s) along with a unique class or classes? Voss is ideally situated for just such a story arc. The Voss race use the force, but not like Jedi. And the Gormak use tech, but different from what we're used to seeing. Starting planet for Voss/Gormak would be Voss, obviously. Starting out at, say level 45. With the Empire and Republic competing for their support, you get to choose which faction to align with before you leave Voss. There should be a legacy level requirement to unlock them. What force abilities have we seen within the Voss story that should be included in a new class? What weapons/tech do the Gormak use? The Gormak often use beasts for fighting, should that be included somehow in a new Gormak class? What combat abilities are Voss mystics capable of? Once they choose a faction would they incorporate the ways of Sith/Jedi in addition to the basic abilities they learned on their home world?
  5. Saying it in chat and actually setting the phase correctly are two different things. Was it 8man or 16man? In 16 you've got so much DPS you can easily afford to let a newbish gunslinger take an AOE to the face and still power through while he enjoys the show.
  6. With those stats you should be fine. See what's running in the background. Is there something downloading updates or a virus scanner doing a scheduled scan? If you don't HAVE a virus scanner, it could be your NEED one.
  7. You can disable area loot, so you have to loot every individual mob.
  8. Some don't work in the character creation screen. It'll give you an error message saying it contains invalid characters. Trial and error. I'll be adding their names to my friend lists (same faction) to make it easier to pass legacy gear.
  9. it will be MORE annoying when you have to stop and change your settings every fight. And who mouse-clicks every attack?
  10. I farmed the Voss Heroics for rep in 156 gear. I don't know how low you can go, but at 55 they barely touch you.
  11. Also? You just repeated my suggestion in your own words...
  12. I was speaking to the OP, who makes no mention of Nar Shadaa.
  13. I'm assuming this is your first character? Anyway starting at level 30 tends to be more of an endurance test. You wind up chapter one of your class story after you end Alderaan and will face your toughest fight so far. It's best, if at all possible to be over-leveled and over geared before you leave Alderaan. It may sound like a silly question, but you'd be surprised the number of people equip the wrong stats. Are you wearing only Willpower gear? Is your companion wearing Strength gear? How are you managing Khem's attacks? Do you have his abilities turned on? Click the "~" key to expand his tool bar and make sure he's using his abilities. And make sure he is attacking the weakest mobs first. Kill them quickly so they stop dishing out damage and the silver/elite will be easier to finish. Use your lift to CC the stronger mobs. (be sure to disable Khem's AOEs so he doesn't break your CC prematurely) And lastly, run a few KDY's to boost your level. If you aren't sure your doing it right, ask group members for advice. Personally I'd rather group with a "newb" who asks for help than a scrub who causes wipes and won't listen. (Pro-tip) DO NOT use force wave to kick mobs in KDY. If they go over the edge they tend to either glitch and cause issues, or you could kick them off a ledge into other groups and agro the whole room.
  14. You didn't give me any information I could use to actually get there. Basically you told me to Google it. Not knowing what I'm looking for makes Google useless. This is the info I needed to point me in the right direction. Thank you.
  15. no mention of Nar Shadaa. Everything on that planet is the right level for you.
  16. Not sure if you're F2P, subbed or "prefered" so I don't know if you have 3 skills available or just one. For new players I always suggest holding off on crafting until you have at least one toon at lvl 50+. The reason being that money can be tight and you need those credits for training. Leveling crafting costs credits you could be using on other skills. I suggest taking gathering skills and a mission skill. Diplomacy is a good option if you want to gain enough dark/light points to equip early relics. Scavenging and Bioanalysis mats are always in demand and will put money in your pockets. Archeology has struggled since cartel market crystals came out, but you can still make money with it, there's just less demand for leveling crystals, therefore lower demand for mats. Some will try to tell new players they can make tons of money crafting, which is sort of true, but if you knew enough about the markets on your server, you wouldn't be here asking advice. Gathering mats from nodes and missions is a tried and true method for gaining wealth with a minimal amount of market knowledge. I've used it on multiple games over the years and it always works.
  17. Could someone explain how to get non-standard text names?
  18. Leveled my gunslinger back before Treek came around using my ship droid. He does no damage to speak of, but he pulls lots of agro and heals himself. I rarely had to stop between fights to self heal. Other companions require stopping between almost ever fight. Even Treek, if in tank stance, forces you to pause frequently, and in healing stance draws little agro.
  19. That could be tricky to actually do. What if you alternate Imp/Pub? I would submit the suggestion of making obtaining Treek as a companion a priority upon reaching 50 with your first toon. Spend the CC to unlock her in Collections, and use the free pilot legacy gear to pre-mod several sets of aim gear just for her. That way, your companion will always have a fresh set of gear every several levels, and you can focus your planetary commendations on your own stats. The original idea came from a member of my guild.
  20. By "do them" do you mean "assume whoever you're grouped with will be so over-geared that they carry you"? The recommended gear rating is STILL 126. Blue lvl 49 gear is 116. So I'll grant you there's a good chance you can pull it off. But it will be far harder is you have a new player. And there is a good chance if you succeed, your healer was WAY over-geared.
  21. There was also buzz back around the time of server mergers and before the debut of the cartel market of BW shedding game designers. Some viewed it (yet another) death nell for the game. In fact, the heavy lifting was done. What do you do with that many people? Do you keep they working at the same pace? Do they continue cranking out 15 - 20 new planets per year? And you don't really need as many designers once you've got the building blocks in place. You build the scenery, sprinkle generously with mobs, add the bosses, do the cut-scenes and voice acting. BAM! New FP/OP. But you really have to pace the new content or risk overwhelming people. Each new OP introduces a new tier of gear. How may times do you think people will do the latest operation knowing any new equipment will be obsolete in a couple weeks? That's the reason behind lock-outs. So you don't farm an operation to exhaustion in the first week then QQ for more. Nobody said ALL. But you know good and well that's exactly how some play it. There are currently 6 - 8 progression raiding groups in my guild. They are still recruiting though. It's an adult guild, and adults have to put family and work ahead of play, and sometimes that means leaving the game. Other times it just means they can only log in for 2 or 3 hours, one night a week.
  22. Well the 1% have had adequate time to conquer the latest NiM ops and quickly get bored. There are a few like that in my own guild. The ones you rarely see log in except on raid night.
  23. Why do you assume the game is dying just because a couple guilds on your server imploded? This article puts SWTOR solidly in the top 5 MMO's on the market today. Guilds implode. It happens. There's no telling what sort of drama transpired to make it happen, but it certainly doesn't mean the game is dead. People have been making that flawed assumption since the very beginning. I should know, I've been subscribed and active since launch Dec '11.
