  1. Bioanalysis, Scavaging, and Slicing aren't a bad combination. Bio and Scav each allow you to loot strong or better mobs a second time, although the value of those rewards is a bit less, I had to create new alts just to handle the volume of auctions. I eventually dropped Scav in favor of treasure hunting to gather companion gifts, since it's very difficult to raise affection beyond 6k with rank 1 and 2 vendor gifts. Also, if you study the markets and learn what the best price is for a few items, you will be able to buy up default-priced items and resell them.
  2. Don't forget Bowdarr the 6' sword wielding Yorkie. Yea, I said it! Fur-bag is the best companion I've found so far. A tad more squishy than I'd like despite my best efforts to keep him geared to level. Still he's no Snowflake. That was an awesome pet! Only two white lions existed in WoW back then. One was lvl 60, and the other was spawned by a horde only quest in the Barrens. I admit I was rather pleased with myself rolling with that cat @ lvl 30 on a pvp server.
  3. You never see it because they're never logged on. At least not on my server. My old guild had the most 50's on the server, but none ever logged in. I went more than a month without seeing a single 50. The new guild I'm in seemed promising at first, but they've all started alts on a more populated server in case transfers don't happen soon. Adding new servers overseas probably doesn't help. There are no doubt people who went to those, and abandoned characters on US/EU servers, making the exodus that much more noticeable. I've been known to help people, but it's hard even for an over-leveled healer to find a group on an underpopulated server. Wish I knew then what I know now.
  4. There's a lot of complaining, not a lot of suggestions. What are we? Three month out from release and people are bored? Really? Eight possible character story lines, sixteen advanced classes. How many of the "Nothing to do" crowd have bothered leveling their alts? With a lvl 50 able to farm credits fairly easily, there's no excuse for those alts not to be well geared, either. Yea, the world quests are always the same, but there's no reason you can't make different choices along the way. Some will have lasting effects, others will just give you an ending you weren't expecting.
  5. As fast as people roll through levels, why stress this much about it? I could understand if we were talking about an alt you're keeping at a certain level to farm pvp points like they used to do in WoW. But I don't think SWTOR is structured to allow "twinks". ( I think thats what they called them) If we are talking about an alt, i've considered mailing com. mods. to my alts as they aren't bop like the gear, and by the time i have the coms to buy anything, i've out leveled it, or found better, or just plain forgot it was there. That is one thing I miss about wow, there was a solid base of 3rd party web sites I could go to to find the gear I want, and actually learn WHERE to get it.
  6. I've picked up a few high-end schematics for cybertech from slicing. Make friends with a slicer in your guild and he'll be inclined to hook you up before tossing it on GTN.
  7. It shouldn't be too hard to get him a replacement. Best of luck, and may the Force be with you.
  8. Telos Restoration Project has a fairly strong Republic base.
  9. And you're posting this in "new player help"? Really? Did it ever occur to you to actually THINK about your own play style in the past and examine each class to see which one you think fits you best? You roll a toon in a class you apparently aren't very good at, and it's OBVIOUSLY the game's fault? So you've got some experience with other MMO's. Whoopity Doo! What ever you do, please please please don't roll a new toon and play for another TWENTY DAYS. Go ahead and quit less than a month post-launch. We'll try to get by without you. PS, yea I know the game has some issues. They're working on it. Your beloved WoW has been out, what? A decade or so? Still having issues. So if you go back to being a Troll, that's fine by me. I'll still be saving the universe while you're back ganking elves.
  10. Really? My first toon is a Smuggler-scoundrel and seems to NEED a level of two advantage to keep rolling. My gear is mostly Purple or Orange, even on my companion. My trooper, by contrast, has mostly green/blue gear, and rolls in with guns blazing. It might be that the scoundrel is healer spec'd and lacks the DPS potential and is very dependant on the energy bar to keep my tank companion alive long enough to wear the mobs down.
  11. The one thing I've found that might be preventing them from doing it is people selling ports to hard to get to data-crons for huge profits. (Not everyone is talented enough to make some of the jumps required. When you're older, you'll understand. )
  12. It's usually longer than 10. Most of the time I see people spamming LFG for a good 30 even before they form a group.
  13. Dump the crafting and take up another gather skill. Since you seem to be more about grinding than questing, a trio of gather skills will bring in stacks of materials you can sell at auction. Until you get up to purple, epic gear, crafting is a pure money pit. You spend all your mats leveling before you can ever get to craft something that could potentially turn a profit. Every zone i go into is slam full of resource nodes that recycle quickly. At your level, go to alderaan. there's an area full of level 28-30 elites wondering around a ton of resources right outside the spaceport. That's my advice. Crafters need mats, and high level toons have the credits to power-level their crafting skills. Questing is great, but gathering has been my bread and butter through several MMO's. Plus, it's free! Stuff is just lying around! Why not pick it up and sell it?
  14. Granted, I'm only at Tatooine, but all the instances I've seen are a fair hike from the nearest speeder point, so you have to FIGHT your way there while everyone twiddles their thumbs waiting. There's no reason they couldn't make a beacon available for a shuttle to bring in a party member at the same vendor who sells fleet passes. That would be an additional incentive to get the security code thing-a-mah-jig. That way once you've spent half an hour spamming general chat for a healer, you can just pop a homing beacon and a shuttle picks em up and drops them off. No kidding, last heroic I did, we waited a good 15 minutes for the last member to arrive, and that was AFTER I ran there. Plus, if you don't have all the speeder points unlocked, YOUR"RE WALKING! So nobodies asking for special favors, just make grouping (which is supposed to be a GOOD thing right?) a bit easier to do.
  15. I don't think you can cancel class quests. Otherwise, I don't know why it wouldn't let you. On the other hand, turning some in will clear the list.
  16. follow your class quests. Depending on how you play, you should get it on Coruscant, at level 15. It took me a bit longer. I think it's the same for everyone. About level 15 depending. Kind of like speeders are at lvl 25 *IF* you have the cash. And you should, but it depends on how you play the game.
  17. Was wondering if anyone knows how fast "Rest XP" builds, and if there is a cap? Sorry if this is a repeat thread.
  18. Ditto! It seems like by the time I have enough accumulated to buy anything, the gear is nearly obsolete.
  19. Maybe I'm bonkers but I think they should moderate the numbers to have more balanced play. Especially on PvP servers. It's no fun to roll a republic toon if every snot nosed kid on the planet dreams of being a sith gank machine.
  20. FTW. A IT professional might be able to decipher the 3 pages of techno-babble, but comparing your hardware list with the system requirements is way faster.
  21. Does anyone know of a walk-through for dumbies? I've tried arranging my key bindings but it's become a mess. I'm affraid to group now for fear i'll get the whole party wiped because i'm spamming the wrong damn key. It would be awesome if I could set F1 - F12 as heal keys to target specific party members.
