  1. I dont get it, why people demand the worst things Blizz brough to their game... and see them as a holy grale that safes games. Achivements made it impossible for new players to get into groups, or guilds - as people dont accept someone who has not an achivement. Dual spec did force players into a spec they dont like to play - for instance tanks that need to dps or healers that need to dps in raids. Crossserver warzones killed all the competition and foe´s that we had in vanilla wow and last but not least xrealm LFG brought elitism and young ones to the game, that demand work in a game and spam 24/7 their meters. I think SWTOR is a great game without all that garbage of wow, it is fun to play and finally not a second job.
  2. Why Im still playing. 1. No LFG It´s so much fun again to play a game with adults, who seldom ninja, almost never insult (didnt even saw 1 in the past 6 months) and who have fun playing a game that is about playing and not working. I do hope the LFG of wow will never ever get into the game, an improved LFG yes - but wow´s horrible crap (sorry for rage) hopefully never. My server is medium but I always get groups if I want to, be it for quest´s (I just lvl my new toon, still works like a charm) or for FP´s. 2. NO meters What applied to fact 1 does also apply to fact 2. The mistake of wow with addons that make people work 24/7 in a game has so far only been done slightly. I am unsure how meters will work in the future at Tor and how the community will spread them, aslong I can stay away of elitist´s that use them I dont care. At wow you got bombed by numbers after every trash, your gear rated by gearscore and even your specs examined. I dont want this again, after all its a game. 3. Classes & Story For me every char I play is different but still has learned something from its "sisters". I love how presence can be taken over, it does help a lot and you see the progress in your game. The legacy system is awesome and a big +, much much better than what wow does with heirlooms that did more harm than good. I do hope BW keeps the balance, so that new chars are still challanging and cant solo everything just because of a lvl 50 in the gang. 4. Crafting I think there is still a lot to do, as the endgame crafting is a bit limited - but I absolutely love how my companions do the work and I keep myself away from that time consuming stuff. If I imagine that I would need to craft an item for 1 hour... this would be crazy. 5. Companions I just love them, I have a great fun exploring their story, love equipping them or doing Fp´s with them. I wish they would get a bit more love, why not have 2 out at the same time? Also I miss them in pvp, especially world pvp! Personally SWTOR is giving me something back, that was lost at wow and that couldnt evolve at AOC or War due bad coding and massive lag and the move of going FTP later. I have finally fun again and can play and dont need to work. Elitist´s exist at the forum, but so far seldom in the game. This is just great for a person who is a casual and cant play 24/7. Keep it up BW and dont let the wow virus infect your game.
  3. Having 1 server but multiple zones is a pain in the *** for players. It suxx if half your guild is scattered in different zones and nobody can play with each other. I played 1 MMO with such a system and it was terrible.
  4. I agree about the elitism, especially casuals and new players suffer by this. Wow is full of such people and so far the forum here is full of them aswell, my server luckily isnt so far. But I also understand that in pvp not everyone should meet everyone. I currently have about 450 exp - I still die too quick without a healer and someone with 0 prolly dies in 2 hits. There is no competition right now at MMO´s, as everyone plays everyone. We used to play tournaments at wow years ago and it was awesome. Every team had its 2-3 healers, 1 tank, some ranged and some melee - it was awesome and at those tournaments players also have the same equip as stated in the rules. Something like that on official MMO servers would definately help pvp, atleast people should have a free pvp set when they start, which is slightly worse than the high end. But we also need a queue for healers, I end up having none in my teams, which is a big issue. Everyone wanne dps in pvp, I dont get it why. I always tank or healer - at Tor I went for tanking, but I will also lvl a new healer soon, its just frustrating :s
  5. The whole pvp at Tor but also at wow for instance is just frustrating at some point. There are no gear, skill checks - so that undergeared solo q´s without a healer meet high end geared premades with 2 or 3. Bw should add a queue system where you can queue as a tank, healer or dps. Then there should be a queue for 8mens and for solo players both with rewards equal to the performance at the WZ´s. Right now you can have luck and meet another pug that has as much healers and tanks like you or you are unlucky (in most cases) and face a full decked premade...
  6. I dont think you can blame BW for your own mistakes. Joining an empty server at release with no queues was good then, but its bad today. This is something you all knew when you had choosen that server, so you have no right to complain. I had 30 min queues sometimes an hour and now its medium and absolutely fine.
  7. I would prefer such a companion system always over a LFG system. The comapnions atleast talk and do what they should do, in a LFG you get people that never say a word and then steal your loot at the end And I actually think that the average skill in the wow LFG of players is below the AI of our companions.
  8. Solo queue is needed in any MMO. Wow did the mistake and kicked it out at TBC and it cost them a lot of subs by pvp players that were playing competetive at vanilla. Premade should face premade and pug should face pug. Its the only way of having a competetive game for all.
  9. But exactly this I dont see like you. A guild can be something like a job, if someone wants to raid high end he has to fill out a paper to get in. But a simple Pug, players you never see again in your life should not dictate what players can access. I find it sad that in a game people have so high standarts - I dont know the group of the OP but I am sure they would had been fine. Sorry to say, but that elitist attitude killed wow for me. A guild is the place where people can demand mega imba dps, mega imba achivements after all people join those because of high goals etc. .... but as soon they go to a pug those rules cant apply there. A pug is a group with random players, players that have never been there, players that are not overgeared. I find it very rude and unsocial to insult or kick those just because they want to play what they actually could. The guy we are talking about did have gear that is equivalent to the 4men gear someone could have if he goes the typical gearing up path. Its just that he has expertise instead of "is it accuracy?" He is also just a dps, not even a tank - he has nothing else to do than dps I dont know but for me dungeons are for gearing up and not for entering fully geared. Wow killed that totally with the stupid badge system so that everyone expect to have full geared members with him - thats not how MMO´s did work, there the way to gear was a lot better and that elitist behaivour did hardly exist. People dont join naked or with lvl 40 items - they just join with what gear they could aquire before entering the Raid or hc 4men - no need to demand overgeared players - thats what people can demand in guild, but not in pugs after my opinion.
  10. If those you met in the first few weeks left, then look for new players. Its really not hard, my server is mid and always are enough people around. Join the LFG channel and lvl an alt if nobody is around and then just join a group. Cant be so hard, but ofc. people need to be active and cant idle in a town and wait for a queue to pop - you guys need to relearn your social skills - it will help you.
  11. The thing is, how to gear if you cant go? How to get experience if you cant go? That "only with high end gear, only with experience" stuff that exist´s at wow inside the LFG is garbage - people demand and expect too much. Once the LFG is ingame it will become a nightmare for players like the OP here too. People should learn that gear that drops in a dungeon cant be a requirement just like experience cant. People go there to get these things!
  12. AOC had it, it was not really good and one of the only things that I didnt like over there. It suxx if you want to play with friends but they cant come to you, because the zone is full. Or if the only zone with resources is camped by a guild and you cant get in etc. Or imagine, you want to raid a world boss and you have 20 players and none of the zones has 20 spots... this suxx. You can cancel your raid then.
  13. I totally dislike instanced zones, you will never have your friends with you and you need to change the zone all the time. AOC had this, it was really annoying - horrible feature if you ask me. 1 Zone was completely dry of resources and the others were full of it - now tell me, how do you know which one it is if there are like 20 open? You dont! Open the LFG chat and you see who needs a group works very well - you can even log to an alt, something you cant in a lfg tool.
  14. Because it killed the game for casuals, I tried to explain this so often now The tool does put everyone in the same pool, this cant work. To make a group is something everyone does for him / herself. Just like you choose your friends in RL, the only thing in life you cant change is your family. Its plain wrong that a tool does force people into groups and if they dont like the group they are punished by a 30 min penalty. All that hate, elitism that has come to wow is because of the LFG tool... wow has become a job, its just sad as it was a perfect game at vanilla and also a very good one at TBC. But since WOTLK and the LFG its unplayable for people that have a life, unless they play in a guild with friends. The tool is just not working and that wow has lost so many subs since WOTLK is definately also because of the LFG tool that destroys the MMO feeling for so many players. I do hope BW will find a way to not copy the bad tool of Blizz, but to bring up a new and advanced tool.
  15. Got nothing to do with lazy, to maintain a working premade you need a lot time. You need to have players constantly available if someone drops out, you must setup the groups so that you have healers, tanks and CC - this is nothing you do in 5 minutes but in hours. I dont understand why so many premade players refuse playing vs. other premades - I dont know for me it was the best opportunity to see my own skill and the skill of other teams when we met them back at wow. At pug games we had no motivation to even play and tend to not join these games at all. I can only assume what I said earlier, the players that form premades to smash pugs are horrible and cowardly.
  16. The MMO term died with the LFG at wow. I had a full friendlist at vanilla and tbc, I did not even add 1 player since the LFG was there. All that happens with an LFG is that people sit in the capital cities waiting for a dungeon to pop. Hardly anyone does still go out into the world... I did always wonder why Blizz put so much time and effort into redesigning the old world if all that people do is just ignore that content and queue 24/7 in that tool. The world has become dry and empty, I dont see how this can be an MMO. For me wow is a Singleplayer today, nothing more. I doubt something is successfull if players are forced to using it. Fact is, if you dont use it you miss out badges and small gimmicks. You also have a workaround regarding the instance lock, as you can queue forever there while without it you cant do the dungeon more than once a day. The deserter does also prevent you from leaving a group that you dont like. All these things show how badly designed the tool is and that it is everything but successfull. The biggest mistake besides Arena that Blizz did to wow, it killed the game... there is a reason why subs went down at EU und US by a few million. @ topic I will try the tool but if its like at wow, where people ninja gear, where you get into dungeons that are almost finished, where elitist´s rule almost every group etc. I leave. As a casual you just dont have fun then if people demand raid gear in every group, if people fail to understand that the gear that drops in that dungeon or raid is not the requirement but what people actually try to get in that dungeon.. I was just tired of that elitist behaivour where people expect & demand all the time, thats not playing a game for me - its a job and a job I have in RL so why have a second one in a game? There is no point, so all that "work" bla bla is silly. As a Casual the tool was never a real improvement for me, as a tank you end up with such stupid people that, players that steal tank gear, that have a constant gogogogogog attitude or that just die always in fire, blaming the healer.
  17. People should stop saying that pugs are bad players, they are not - just like premade players are not always good. A premade does have key advantages that are just there even if you would have 8 horrible players in that group. They do know each other, have a voice chat tool and can communicate on the fly. All these things a pug has not. The premade will always be faster at a node, a premade will always focus an enemy better and will have a much better map control. The skill of the actual players is not involved there at all. As soon both groups have the same tools ( premade vs. premade) the skill is what decides the match. The thing is, that situation does not happen at Tor yet - because pugs are what these premades meet in most cases. So to say that these people are good players, is wrong as they did not prove anything yet - except that they can use a voice chat What this game or any MMO need´s is a queue system which does seperate those groups from pugs. If pug vs. pugs and premade vs. premade fight´s then you will see who has skill and who not. The best way of seeing this is actually having a ladder, like League of Legends has - even tho the 2men queue is too strong there, as a dominating lane can decide a game. Personally I do hope that the solo and premade q does come soon, if BW does make the mistake like Blizz did with no seperate queue´s - then people will quit for sure.
  18. I think they do explain it well in the video. - Quest, FP, Story mode OP you can queue for - tank, heal, dps select I just hope there is a way of selecting "casual" at the queue, so that people who are elitist and demand high dps, perfect specs etc. dont pick this and select "pro", so that casuals can actually use the tool - not like at wow where using it is a pain.
  19. Premade does not mean good and pug does not mean bad. To assume something like this is really silly... I did competetive pvp at tournaments in wow with my guild, Warsong and Arena tournaments and i can definately say I know what I am doing in pvp. A serious player in a premade will always want a competetive fight, thats why a premade is formed in first place. A soccer team is also not created to play vs. 1 hobby player from the street but to play vs. other soccer clubs in a league. So far there are no rankings, tournaments at Tor - god knows if there ever will be, but the fact remains that a premade should only face a premade and a pug always a pug. In a premade you can communicate by voice chat, you have your fixed tactics - a pug does not have these and does lose because of it. In a pug you would need to explain tactics for several minutes first, you dont have that time. You also need to write down every command in chat, again you dont have the time for this. And since premades always win vs pugs, they aswell have a big gear advantage. Every player that does not want a split queue, is a coward and a bad player who is afraid of competition.
  20. I left wow when I turned into a casual, because I didnt feel the casual game that you speak about. Casual does not mean dumb btw. Casual is more a factor that indicates that someone cant play every day, wont read every guide and also wont always have the best items in a game. I sometimes have gaps of a few weeks where I cant play at all, with that I was lost at wow. If you dont play a while, the demands even for old content double or triple. I went into heroic 5 mens after a break on my second char, those dungeons we did clear 1 week after release easily with greens and blues. Guess what happened, people raged at the gear, raged at no achivements...simply put they did not accept it! They did also not accept the round about 12k dps of a friend, who did as well clear every hc with me. No what they did demand were 20k dps, the ability to outheal noobish dps that stands in fire... Yes wow is a easy game, you dont need much for it - but the lack of skill that you need, does the community of elitist´s add and thats hardcore and nothing less. Casuals have absolutely no time, especially if you use the LFG tool. People hear "new", see "not full epics", no achivements and they rage at you - no casual does want that torture and because of that so many casuals left wow. A new player who joins wow is put infront of lions, that dont give him any chance to learn or discover. Even at simple lvl dungeons you are treaten like **** at wow... SWTOR is definately better there, but who knows what the LFG tool and dps meters will turn it into.
  21. Wow lost atleast the same amount if not more at US and EU - guess what, they have a LFG
  22. I disagree that Wz´s are content. Wow has like 10? but they all suck (sorry my manners) except Warsong and Arathi Basin. Seriously we had only Warsong at vanilla (+ one constant running AV 24/7) and we loved it. You dont need a big amount of WZ´s for good pvp, just like you dont need many maps at a shooter. What you need is a working system, that does balance the pvp so that equal teams meet each other and that everyone in that system has something to achieve. At vanilla this worked well, there was only premade pvp but one that also solo players could q up for. Ofc a guild team was in favor, but a solo q could get to 10 , 11 and get a free mount and a pvp set. You really dont need many maps, 1 is sufficent if its well balanced. What this game needs pvp wise is a working system, solo q meets solo q and premade q meets premade. Then for both system a ladder with rewards that are worth going for.
  23. Well I was lvl 49 at the end of Jan, then took a break as I had no time and came back at 1.2 and did make the last lvl Guess this explains why I never saw that quest or any recruit gear besides at the vendors.
  24. I did every quest except 3 heroics at 50, nowhere did ever drop anything pvp related. I got purple items, blue´s, green´s, shematics but never pvp gear. Are you sure about that? Was that in the game at jan - feb? If it was added in 1.2 then ofc. I did miss it, I wasnt 40 at this time.
  25. I agree and disagree. When we did the farming at wow for frost gear, poison gear, shadow gear... that we did need for raiding, then we knew that we had to do this and we knew how. We went off with groups and did farm 2 hours in the evening so the guild could raid. Casuals gave less, hardcores more. At tor this aint that easy I think. First of all do many people not know how and where - personally I did lvl my char and thought that the valor is something you buy gear with. I did also not know of expertise before, I thought defence is fine for tanks in pvp, as its on the gear and did work well until 50. You know, players can only work for something if they do know that it exist´s and how to. Today I read that pvp items drop, I couldnt try it yet but seriously how should people know this? The forum is full of crap by players that want a second wow, that you hardly get these informations. I also dont have a guild or people in my F-list - so the informations are a bit dry regarding this. I definately think that players that dont play all day / very often, that do only have 1 char, no guild etc. just dont know how to get all those credit´s or items. People expect a bit too much, just because they do know it better. I could explain you every encounter at vanilla and tbc as well, still I do know that hardly anyone would be able to understand it, as they did not raid there. People have a different knowledge about games and its content
