  1. I was already really unsure if I wanted to support this game considering all problems that it has (spread out on multiple topics I've posted over these last 4-5 months stay). From bad PvP balancing to biased mechanics intended to force long-term subs, to lack of content on the recent years, decade old bugs that never got fixed. But none of that was enough to put me off of it, yes I do enjoy the game even with it's flaws, but many of those things scream bad costumer service, and disrespectful business model, what in fact has actually been the last nail was forums censoring. I just had a post deleted that made no sense, but carried heavy criticism towards Bioware, even though indirect. What was really against community guidelines was a single phrase, but instead of having it edited out or requested to be edited out, to make some shady PR move, they simply deleted it, I've seen many topics being delete in the forums by other players who were actually raising very valid concerns or complaints, yet at that time I didn't pay much mind (guilty as charged, as long as it wasn't me I was "phine" with it). Now it hit me, and I am not going to let it go. I already said this years ago I believe, but silencing preferred and f2p players was already a very despicable practice by their shady terms, I mean, it's absurd that f2p and preferred cannot have any support what-so-ever, but it makes worse when subs are also being censored for bringing up fair criticism. Well, tbh I didn't expect any different considering BW is part of EA, and knowing very well how EA operates, it was just a matter of time, in a way I've trapped myself into this situation by using the forums actively to express concerns and dislikes (no reason to praise a game when it's running smooth, forums are in a way just there for support and rant, maybe suggestions. which brings me to why I did post this here) So, my suggestion is simple: Stop censoring, allow f2p and preferred support, balance the PvP more decently, remove biased self-serving time-locks that are there only to force ppl into subbing for longer periods of time. Maybe if you change one or all of these, you still might have a chance of recovering large chunks of the player-base. It would also be nice to have better writers doing content forward, maybe have said content being released more often. That's it, farewell SWTOR community, I don't believe I'll be coming back.
  2. oooooh! Wasn't paying attention, farming those ridiculous tokens to get the SH, considering all things, this is next level carroting to force subs. So the issue seems "resolved" although in the worse possible manner. I'd have preferred if they added those items to CM so nutjobs started selling them on the GTN instead.
  3. although a great idea, I think they think that GF ops will start popping with this, not the case at all
  4. I'm very happy that ppl agree with me on this one
  5. aaaah, read the entire thread, look at the dates. and **** 12 year old lol
  6. =) Yeah, both games had incredibly good stuff, shame that they didn't merge the good of both into a new one. As for BBA, sure, the event sucks, but the rewards remain the best among all regular events. Others that have decent rewards are the yearly ones. Rakghoul is okay-ish, the event itself is much more entertaining (albeit too limited imo), while Gree simply sucks in every aspect of it. SWTOR events, if weighted as a whole are all bad, either the rewards straight-out suck, or the event mechanics suck. Haven't seen any that scores positive on both stances. My pet-peeve with the game remains the same though: Weekly Rep Limits. That thing is just ridiculous, makes it impossible to time-manage play-time to combine all dailies you may want to do, plus farming you need to do. At farming downtime I should be able to progress the dailies as fast as I want, do I have only the weekend free? Awesome, 12h straight into rep farming, otherwise it becomes inventory management nightmare (I have rep tokens sitting in alts that I never remember to pop...) I've, at this point, maxed out Rep with BBA, same for other planets, but am facing a nightmare with Oricon which due to having just 12k weekly rep cap, I'll be forced to grind it for 3 weeks to reach Legend, it's ridiculous, extremely off-putting, in fact so off-putting that I'll probably not grind it at all.... It even took my desire to play today, I mean, not just that obviously, but the combo of doing Onderon dailies (annoying traveling) + Mek-Sha (annoying sleep inducing quests). The rep cap just made the game feel like a chore, in fact this feeling comes up quite constantly and it's one of the reasons why I'm questioning if I should stick to the game or not. Idk if my idea is good, have severe doubts about it, but I believe that being able to play whatever I feel like playing and progressing with whatever I feel like progressing would do wonders instead of this. Some content is more enjoyable, but less rewarding, other content is boring AF but you need to do it to progress, so on so forth. It's a weird idea, but I think it would mostly work? Idk.
  7. I've decided to wait and see if he even knows what IGDA is (I believe he doesn't). Still some strong points in there.
  8. hmm very interesting (You actually made a lot of good points there, but my last reply was sarcastic) -> I used to be a member of IGDA, do you have your card still? Instead of diving into the industry as a pawn I've moved out to make films, so much better xD
  9. it's a bait & switch tactics to virtually "increase" pvp population. They keep doing this on a endless loop, RPM/OEM? Now we have access to it through sheer grinding, but Galactic Seasons kicked in at the same time. They'll keep doing this to show numbers for Suits, when in reality those numbers would really be shameful due to their incompetence on making the game better instead. They were supposed to instead focus into the game's core experience: Gameplay. Instead they keep baiting with Carrots, ruining the experience for the carrot hunters and the core players of each game-mode. There's just too much wrong with SWTOR right now, if I was in charge of listing them I'd be in trouble deciding where to begin with xD Still like the game though, as I always say, tastes do not reflect quality.
  10. so deep, I think you are competing with Plato already on philosophical deepness
  11. Resurrecting the thread to say something: Have you people ever thought about how dumb it is to have time-exclusive rewards? I mean, the game carries assets (which translates into total pack size on your disk), each and every item, basically, occupies space on your hard-drive, now, why should I be forced to load stuff I don't have in the game? I'd rather be unable to see other people's "eXcLuSiVe" items and have more disk space than getting over 1gb of worthless clutter that you rarely or ever gonna see in-game, just so someone can show off how they subscribed during a certain time-frame, as if that would change anything other than annoy me on the fact that there's some bug occupying space on my hard disk for no reason other than to pat some twisted sense of ego from ppl who "wanna show off pixels". In fact, if that was a trend, let's say, 1 new silly item like that added every maintenance to "subs only", today (2021) the % of the game's size basically comprised of useless exclusive clutter would be ridiculously high, to a point that having SWTOR in your disk would be occupying the same space as another entire game for no logical reason. Given that, wouldn't it be less mentally impaired to give access to all said assets in one way or another to all players? I mean, caring for pixel exclusivity already highlights serious psychological issues, having that for stuff you didn't even have had to work for in-game is next level negative IQ stuff. So let's reinforce the OP point: Just end the exclusivity for "subscribing during X period" stuff, add them to the CM, let people customize their way to personal phabulousness bliss... I mean, why not? (I mean, exclusivity advocates are not even human beings in my perspective)
  12. Congratulations, you got your silly troll trophy of the day Srsly, why barge into the guys thread to say nothing useful, just bait in a infantile way?
  13. I'm not an ace on PvP, in fact I am quite average with some shining performances here and there. The only advice I can give is a three step one: Forget about getting good fast (doesn't mean that you won't, just means that you don't care if you do and when) - start playing PvE without rotation but on priority GCD instead, after you are used to that, start PvEing without healing companions -> survive. That basically trains you for the much harsher environment of PvP, to realize your Priority rotation DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT RELY ON GUIDES. Read the skills instead, open your Spec window and read all the utilities, see what skill does what, you must understand everything, even passives. After that you can start deciding on utility by 2 factors: How you play + perform (which shows what are your weaknesses, either as a player or as a spec/class) -> given that you can decide to switch utilities to better compensate your flaws. Second factor would be by observation/situation, which basically translates into understanding team compositions and what better suits that match. The latter is only useful for Arenas, because for Warzones you'll be better off focusing on buffing your strengths to reach the objectives better (defend, cap, carry ball, movement, speed, being CC immune, CC harder, etc.)
  14. First of all: Secondly: If you do a Team DM on maps that are not Team DM you'l always get top dmg, in objective warzones that means you are hindering your team and playing the gank gang, it doesn't mean u are good, just that you are 100% of the time mashing buttons on other players. At least as a healer if you do that you are "accidentally" helping, so keep it up, as healer, don't DPS ever again! When I read your reply I actually laughed hard here xD Thirdly: This happens a lot: Although Exly sounded more like TTing than raising a concern by the way he said it, it's like he created that excuse in his head. When in reality if you are good you can compete against those premades, BUT, you'll still be in severe disadvantage and the odds very much against you. BONUS: This kind of reply is what happens when parents fail to educate their children and pay for their game's subscription:
  15. that's a literal pre-teen argument level you are doing there mate. Anyway, I didn't really pay much attention to desync on OPs (guess grown used to it, or it's a lot better now, idk). But the speed nerf is getting on my nerves. It made carrying the ball to passing positions virtually impossible with certain classes, I kid you not.
  16. Even if I decide to unsub, I still have around 14 days left before the recurring kicks, I'll try to learn marauder better and see what the fuzz is about. I mean, I didn't like it much, but I guess it's better than being a punching-bag with Jugg, or being forced to tank (S-level hard) when I barely have patience to learn new specs.
  17. So, subjects cannot evolve nor be slightly switched for that small head of yours it seems. "Tactics", wow... I've always perceived the pressure put over obisidian to make their versions or spin-offs odd, but their games always resulted in being better and with more depth than the originals, oddly enough they never got hired to do more games by those big devs, I assume it's jealousy, I could be wrong, obviously. Than again seeing how you were unable to interpret what I was saying in the first place (and failing to control my urge to try and paint it for dummies), I should just ignore your reply, for you are probably unable to understand anything I'm saying, otherwise your reply would've been very different than what it was. I digress, have a good one, not going to feed your lunacy. We complain when we care, when we don't care we say nothing, we simply carry on. The problem here is your own ignorance towards why people do things. Apathy translates into not caring, basically, it's a important notion to understand, for it may help you even in your personal relationships, if the person complains about you means they care, if they don't means they don't give a rat's *** about you (that in your face, to you). The only other way for someone to complain about something when they dislike the thing is if the thing is getting in their way intrusively, like annoying people getting into your forum thread like flies over food on the table. Comes with the territory I guess, after all I was the one who decided to expose my thoughts into a public social network space, innit? PS: The 3rd option of complaint is the behind the back one, which translates into the person complaining having serious self-esteem issues, so they try to undermine others they may find are perceived as better in their social circles, they do that due to the illusion that if they manage to take away the other person's shine, they'll shine brighter themselves. Not true at all, and if they do that kind of gossip to more mature people, they actually paint themselves as rubbish to them.
  18. EU has had tons of discussions, some literature pushed too far on the fanfic power trip, and most of the more deep immersed people would have a hard time accepting a lot of it as canon. Ancient tech? Fine, as long as it is different, not Mass Effect find tech that pushes you ages forward. In fact, the like ability of a tech being found three thousand years before the films and not even parts of it surviving already screams inconsistency. SWTOR lore is garbage, and the reason is because it was made as commercial as possible, if they followed a more top notch writing and world building, the game's profits would get hit hard. Events in the game did spoil a lot of the EU, and tbh, the entirety of KotFE is ridiculous for the SW universe as a whole, even the KOTOR inherited "immortal emperor" is a stretch too far. The hints on less absurd lore-craft revolving SW is that many Sith and some Jedi did waste a lot of time pursuing immortality, the closest Sith got was extending their lives absurdly, but with tons of collateral effects, and Jedi only really got to learn how to become Force Ghosts during the films' era through Qui-Gon who learned with priests. Anything Jedi learned was recorded in their libraries, if any was able to or met with any Jedi ghosts there would be documentation, and they would know it during the Films' Era, specially Yoda even if it was supposed to be kept as a top secret, he'd know, instead he learns it from Qui-Gon, so there's that. Tech, some force techniques, fighting styles, all of those things supposedly had a evolutionary path. Three thousand years changes every level of society plus technology by ridiculous gaps, so if we would follow Biowares tech logic, by the films' era, they would have more advanced tech than the "ancient civ" from ME. So yeah, it's ludicrous, you can try to defend it, but that would mean extreme bad writing, like toddler level. To top it off, and being completely honest, Story classes are incredible only when compared to other MMOs story strength, if you go into literature, the entirety of SWTOR is very infantile filled with clichés and bad tropes, not quality reading at all if it was ever made as books. There's no way of defending SWTOR, and it's a good thing that it was never made canon. Revan, on the other hand, I could handle being canon, as long as they fix everything else surrounding his story, including tech and force knowledge. To get my point all you need is a little logical thinking and at least some basic understanding of anthropology, don't try to defend it just because you've grown attached to the game, the writing is rubbish, even KOTOR writing was which's why KOTOR 2 was so "successful". If the Jedi and Sith were stagnated for so long, that means the entire galaxy was stagnated, evolution can only happen that slow (span of thousands of years) if their "worlds" are small, little contact with external ideas and philosophies, not to mention technologies. They also would need to have way more difficulties traveling, which would allow for such isolation to happen. In other words, you are unable to stagnate if you are in constant contact with conflicting ideas and examples, so to be stagnated you must also be still, traveling less and having access to very little information. Obsidian fixed the writing and made it better, only for SWTOR completely ignore it when it came out. This envious and jealous reaction from developers happened more than once, Obsidian did make Fallout 3d series better with NV, Bethesda shoved it into the depths of "oblivion" (pun) and made subpar stories for FO4 on-wards, not to mention the tone down in their game's depth. Bioware did more or less the same pertaining KOTOR 2, only problem with Ob is that they always needed long periods of development time, which basically made all their games very bugged.
  19. they should make rules for queueing, that's about it, now, tbh, any coordinated team will be just as effective and annoying in regs, in my little experience the problem are premades, not classes or specs in this case.
  20. Which makes no sense. Considering they are DoT classes, it would be okay if they had less CC immunity than a burst one, because u could open by stacking DoTs and even while stunned u'd be ravaging the opponets HP, no need for input is the whole idea behind DoTs. I think that my argument is that, DoTs should kill without hitting much, while Rage should be more durable because without direct player input there's absolutely zero dmg... That was something I thought about tbh, switching to Veng, exploiting it's DoTs while running out LOS, could work, not entirely sure for I haven't tried it yet. Or spec Annihi Mara and abuse Force Camouflage doing timed hit-n-run. Have no idea if it works on the current meta, but in theory it could. Either way, that means abandoning the spec I'm currently into, which to me is disappointing, in fact might be enough for me to call it quits on the game again. So yeah, I think that either they boost Rage dmg, which will break the game, or make them harder to be tunneled, there's no way around it. As for Fury, it seems to be doing well, but it's exceptionally hard to play (I've tried), my problem with Fury is resource management.
  21. I did notice, doesn't surprise me. I've always said that BW is incompetent when it comes to PvP, that's just another piece on the stack of examples. Still playable, but way more annoying in certain classes.
  22. I agree with you, but I'm still having a hard time deciding if I should leave or not. I have a feeling that if I unsub this time around, I'm probably never coming back.
  23. I think you are onto something there... Could work. that would make Veng pointless wouldn't it? What Hao Zhao said actually makes a lot of sense, in Rage Jugg I feel that role whne PvEing, I can off-tank, and if I'm playing right I can surpass dmg from most DPS specs, to a point where I keep stealing boss aggro constantly. In PvP, your suggestion would either make Rage burst dmg absurd (if they buff it properly, instead of doing 50k crits I'd be doing 70k+ crits), that means that without DCD or healing I'd be killing sorcs with 3 abilities (no skill in that at all, just brainless button mashing). If they instead add defensives, either by increasing escape-ability or by buffing DCDs, or even by adding an extra DCD, Jugg would fill it's role. You call it broken because you are probably stagnated into the current META, comfortable with it, but in a way that's how it was supposed to go, though if BW gives Rage attention, they'd need to fix all specs so to speak, like putting Madness back into the game along Carnage (of the ones I know of), I bet there are more for others classes that are completely out of the game, but those two are the ones I've experienced first hand. Maybe Zhao's suggestion is the only way, and as always it would create general outrage. I don't see Rage as "easy" spec, I'd argue Conc Ops are much easier (I know for i have one, but i strongly hate playing it), Sorcs are easier too (also have one). Rage is easier than Immortal? Absolutely, but than again it's not the easiest class to perform well.... In regs I manage to get toe to toe total dmg with Fury maras when all other Rage juggs I've seen playing can't do squat. My impression is that if, and only IF, I play Group Ranked, I'd probably do very well, maybe even be considered good, because all matches that I got the full trio (tank+healer+2dps) I've done a good job. That was me certainly. Same toon name as my forum tag (with some weirdness due to "name being already used). Any help is appreciated, although I'm very close to giving up on ranked altogether. I don't want to play a class that I don't feel it's playstyle pleases me, tried that (as I've said, with Conc OP, and Lightning Sorc, also tried Merc and Assassin), neither of those classes talk to me well, can I learn them? Absolutely! Problem lies with their playstyles, which I strongly dislike.
  24. Yeah, work with what u get in a way. Thing is the game is offering very little rewarding experiences in general, everything's about time-gating, and even worse, content-gating (OEM RPM are two great examples). What I said about the rep caps is what annoys me the most on PvE because it would be a nice change to manage to farm for Decorations and build RP leaning SHs, maybe use those for real RPing at some point. I've managed to make 400mil in 2 weeks by doing smart farming, and I'm feeling off on spending it because of the sheer amount of work to get there, the fact that part of it is pure luck, and that it's really hard to see your creds wasted on gear you're not even sure you're ever going to use (talking abount purple augs, Force Bound set, basically the expensive utility gear). I can't get into ranked, not sure I want to (the only thing I want is that black silver crystal which's quite "cheap"), then there are the Mater OPS, of which I can't seem to find ppl to play with, likely if I do I'll be in for toxic behavior, and very scarce and few OPS, maybe 1 every 2 weeks at most? That if I manage to sneak myself into a single grp by spamming fleet general. So i'm really unsure about this game, I keep asking myself: "What does this have to offer me?" When I came back I was hyped about the continuing story moving away from the whole fiasco of KotFE, experienced KotET, annoyed me, Iokath annoyed me, and everything after stopped making sense, was too short and underwhelming. In a way I thought that maybe they'd tried to fix the game's strong point, but even Onslaught is just weird, so much so that I haven't come around to get to Mek-sha in 3 months, I much prefer to stick to my imagination and create my own head-canon than to see that just to get disappointed... Waiting for events, over-farming rep tokens to cash in weekly, farming for creds to pay for overpriced carrots from CM on GTN, I feel like an idiot tbh
