  1. Fun fact, Wow dosnt have: Group loot Player housing Political system Voice acting Alternate achievement points 1-endgame story quests Yet it didn't fail despite other games having them. Not every game needs every feature to survive. "standard mmo features" are bs, as is your argument.
  2. Thanks for picking the one point of my post to respond to instead of paying attention to the whole thing. Talk about stupidly shallow response. The fact is, there is quite a bit of solo content in this game, but the game is made to be an MMO, it exists to put people together into grouping situations. This is a fact. If you want to play solo, play a single player game or play an online game like starcraft 2, where you chat with other players while doing solo content. This game isnt here to cater to solo gameplay. That it has some solo gameplay is a perk, but they will never and SHOULD never cater to soloers. This game already has a bad rap for being too much of a single player game. 95% of people are playing this game to play with other players.
  3. I find that most people who dont want damage meters dont want them simply because they dont feel like improving themselves. They want to play and be mediocre. Thats fine, I dont begrudge them, I dont mind grouping with them. They fear the small but vocal playerbase out there that will judge them for not min/maxing. I understand this fear, I understand not wanting to make this game into a job. Just because I have fun min/maxing dosnt mean everyone does. That said, I still want combat logs and damage parsing. To those who fear being judged by them, I advise finding better people to group with.
  4. While eventually more solo content will come out, its not going to be high priority. This is an MMO, not a single player game. It is more cost effective for them to make group content, as it a) adds in a time sink for finding the groups, b) makes content that 8 people will be doing at once, rather than solo people, and c) is the entire reason an MMO exists, to play with people in groups.
  5. Interesting thing tho. Wow had zero endgame content at release, at least for one whole faction. Onyxia was only accessable to Alliance at the beginning. Molten core didnt exist till 3 months post release. The next raid was BWL which wasnt until nearly a year after launch. SWTOR launched with 2 full raids both with 3 tiers of content (norm/hard/nightmare) and both with 8, 16, and 32 man versions. Within 3 months of launch they will have a third raid. The fact is, in a themepark mmo, people will always eat through content faster than devs can make it. This is a fact of life. This is what PvP is for. In a themepark, PvP has a long history of being the repeatable player made content. This is not second life, this is not eve, this is not minecraft. This is a themepark mmo, and like any themepark, there is a limited amount of stuff to do at any given time.
  6. This. Not only that, but then you would have complaints from new players stating there is TOO MUCH content and they cant figure it all out.
  7. All games that go FTP have resigned themselves to no longer having a successful game, and just want the game to continue in a highly diminished capacity. Point in case, LOTRO and WoW.
  8. I think that number is a bit off. But Id rather know who I want to group with, so I support damage meters.
  9. They also make good players have access to more info that can make them even better players. IMO, damage meters help you realize who you want to group with again next time. Scenario one: "ZOMG YOU GUYS SUCK LOOK AT MY DPS, GET BETTER NUBS" /ignore Scenario two: "Hey x player, I noticed that your dps is a bit low, do you need any help?" /friend Scenario three: "Hey x player, you are the same class as me, but are doing better dps with the same gear as myself, care to give me any tips on what I could do? What rotation are you using?" /getbetter
  10. I would like damage meters so I can see who is doing better than me, so I can learn from them what they are doing, thus becoming more informed myself.
  11. Some people (myself included) enjoy playing the game as a min/maxer. This (for me at least) is not about epeen or anything. I simply enjoy taking the time to do my roll to the best of my ability. No matter what role I play in a group, I like being effective, I enjoy taking NPCs down quickly, tanking effectively, and knowing what heal to use when. Combat logs/dps meters/threat meters etc. are all ways that I enjoy using to know what combos are more effective than others. I dont want these things in order to lord them over others, I want these things so I know when I am doing better. I want to know in a group if another assassin is out-dpsing me, so I can ask them what they are doing and see if I can incorporate that into my setup. I understand some people dont play this way, and I dont begrudge you your playstyle, play in a way that makes it fun for you. That said, please do not diminish my fun by denying these things to me. Edit for: And please for the love of god Bioware, let me know how much my jugg's force scream shield is shielding me for, and how much endgame set bonus buffs it by. I would like to know if this talent/set is even worth it for me. Is the shield 100? Is it 10k? I have no idea.
  12. This is an investor press release following their quarterly report. They are bound by US law to tell the complete truth in it.
  13. Many options: Belsalvis Bonus Series/Ilum storyline will both open up dailies you can start doing to get very good inplants and earpieces as well as mods Datacron matrix shards - a very easy way to get a kickass relic Regular FPs - Battle of Ilum and False Emporer are good level 50ish flashpoints Hardmode FPs - I'd recommend you start with BT for your first hardmode, its fairly easy and fun, usually only takes an hour max, and gives you some great loot. (Hardmode FP's have a daily and weekly you can pick up in the fleet supply area) PvP dailies - There is an Ilum daily/weekly you can pick up in the combat training area, as well as warzone daily/weeklys. The Ilum one requires you to either click boxes in the middle part of the pvp part of Ilum, or to kill players anywhere in the Ilum pvp section. These are just starter points that will help you prep in case you ever want to raid. You can also mess around and explore the different worlds for codex entries, roll a new toon, help out lower levels with stuff, craft, buy/sell on the GTN, etc etc etc. Whatever you want to do really.
  14. Except that Rift never sold more than maybe 500,000 copies of the game (1 mil trion accounts made for the game includes all the free beta versions) They never gave an actual count of copies sold, most likely because they never reached a significant milestone. SWTOR sold over 2 million copies within their first month, and 2 weeks after the first month was over, they have retained 1.7 million accounts. No game in the history of MMOs has seen such success, not even wow.
  15. I currently a level 50, a level 46, a level 30 and a level 16, and still only have legacy 13.... I have logged over 14 days of gametime across all my toons.... How in the world does someone get to legacy 50? Edit for: On my main 50 I have done enough dailies to get 2 inplants, thats 240 daily commendations, about 1.5 weeks worth of dailies, still only legacy 13.
  16. No non-sub game will ever beat an equal sub game. Fact is, games need money to keep things updated, they either do this via subs or micro-transactions. With micro-transactions, many people play for less money, because they are too cheap to support the game. Those people who do play the game and support it with micro-transactions very quickly realize they are spending quite a bit more money for a game experience than they would playing the sub game. Those people leave the game, the game starts getting worse and worse, and eventually ends up either dying or just becoming a very small niche game (LOTRO/DDO/Allods etc) Unless GW2 changes its payment options significantly from GW1, you will see GW2 go the same way of GW1, which is that after a year or so it will dwindle and become a small playerbase game. This will happen no matter how many features the game has. This is a fact of life, money makes games supportable over the long run. Edit for: There is no currently non-sub game that is wildly successful, despite years of them trying. This will continue to be the trend.
  17. OP, if you think Tera/GW2/Secret World/Archeage will live up to your standards, you are sorely mistaken on every account.
  18. But... but... but, the trolls say that all ops/hm/nightmare are easy to roll thru in blues/greens and that endgame content is an oxymoron.... Shouldnt I believe the forum trolls?
  19. Id like to marry it, but it is of the same sex as me, and Bioware wont let me do that yet =(. Seriously tho, love the game, keep up the good work Bioware!

  21. It means that of the 2 mil box copies sold, each player played an average of 5 million. Since .3 mil players are no longer subscribed, the current subscriber base is most likely much higher than that. Means some players have prob upwards of 12-15 days played time. Thankfully that makes me feel better about my current 10 days played time >.<
  22. Its true, they did a press release today, also 148 billion credits spent and over 20 billion npcs killed.
  23. of played time in the first month of SWTOR..... Do we play too much guys?
  24. Oh... did you fail the reading comprehension portion of your SATs?
  25. Im not really keeping this up to date now that there is a suggestion thread, if someone would like to take it over thats cool, or you can now make posts specifically for your individual suggestion using the box.
