  1. So I am curiuos what Hydraulic Override doesn't stop? Here is the description Grants 8 seconds of immunity from movement-impairing effects, knockdowns and physics and increases movement speed by 30%. Does stun count as any of that? What about things like force choke? I was playing around with Advanced Prototype and had quite a few times in PvP where I would hit HO and still would get stopped by something. When it happened it seemed like it was always immediate, like I would hit HO at the same time I would get CCd, HO would go on cooldown but I couldn't move. I did not play it enough to figure out exactly what was stopping/CCing me though.
  2. When I run as tank spec in PvP you would be amazed how many times one of two things happens. A) DPS yells at you to guard them even though there is no healer so basically you just die right off the bat if you do or B) another Tank instantly puts his guard on me for some reason.
  3. A better way of saying this would be: Everyone that cried NERF on classes like PT and Mara never actually played them and now that they rerolled they are seeing how much CC/Roots/Slows actually screwed classes like PT and Mara and how much advantage Jumps/Pulls/Immunity to CC/Cleanse/Speed Buffs/Stealth etc helped their previous class.
  4. I disagree Pyro is no easier than anything else. In fact I would say to be a great Pyro takes a bit more thought than some of the other classes, to be an avearage anything in this game is all about equal. To be great at Pyro you need to pay attention to a lot of things, timing and cooldowns. It is easy to be an average Pyro, but I think it is easy to be average at anything in this game. That is why you see a TON of Pryos getting 100-300k damage in WZ and you see one or two that get 500-800k on average.
  5. Congrats on describing a terrible Pyro, but having played both Mara and Pyro are about both equally easy to play. One you have less buttons you have to press (if your not taunting delete your character) then you watch for procs, the other you just press more buttons with no real dynamics to make it diffucult to play. Both are faceroll classes along with every other class in this game. This has to be the easiest MMO to play in history, I mean every single class is super freaking easy.
  6. Why can't I just buy my gear with real money? There are really two answers to this question. The business answer and the gaming answer. 1) Business answer - because if they allowed you to buy your gear for real money people would quit paying the subscription for a game that is not on an even playing field. This only works in F2P games and at this point the number crunchers at BW/EA have decided that they are making more off of subscriptions than they would allowing F2P but buying gear 2) Gaming answer - In real life money can give you an advantage at every single possible thing. People play games to get away from real life. If the people with all the advantages in real life can simply bring them in to a game then most of the people here would simply leave. Basically it is the equivilant of "I'm out of money in Monopoly so why can't I just buy some more money with real life moeney and keep playing?", because it takes away the entire point of the game. Isn't it fair that there is at least one thing left in life where more money doesn't give you an unfair adavantage?
  7. Sorry there are some things in life that money can't buy you. If you don't have the time to farm the gear end-game is not for you anyway.
  8. For sure DAOC was the best PvP I have run across in MMOs. There were some other games that tried to copy it but none as well. Taking a castle with two other factions attacking you and literally hundreds of people on the battlefield while you fly your guild banner at the castle and protect it from siege equipment and battering rams was just awesome.
  9. I would love more than anything to be able to actually Tank in PvP but after the 30th WZ in a row with either A) No healer or B) the one healer has a guild tank guarding them and will only heal their guild tank you get really frustrated trying.
  10. It is just to hard to get 8 people together often enough unless you are in a big dedicated PvP guild. If you do manage to get a team together or pug it you are going to be going up against big dedicated PvP guilds that have been playing ranked together and have good strategies. No one wants to play against the four teams that play ranked together non-stop with a bunch of pugs. I was really looking forward to ranked PvP but when it hit as 8 man only what it did was pull some people from my guild to go to more hardcore PvP guilds, got other people to feel like they won't ever do ranked and just quit doing PvP all together and a couple that just quit logging in anymore. Thanks to ranked we now have trouble doing our 8 man ops LOL.
  11. Who is masquerading as anything? I know how it works, I know how BW wants it to work and I'm saying there are better ways to do it. I have played a ton of PvP games and the number one thing I see making people quit PvP games is a PvP system without diminishing returns on things that make people feel like they are losing control of their characters to things like roots and CC. That is why most successful MMOs with PvP that didn't have a system to prevent CC/root abuse added them later, just like SWTOR will eventually either add some type of item, skill or change the mechanic to break CC and roots or add some type of diminishing return or immunity to them in this game. This is why the standard for most MMOs with PvP is you can't be chain rooted or CC'd by similar abilities without diminishing returns. This is why damage breaks CC and roots in most games. This is why most have significantly reduced duration of CC/roots in PvP. This is why most have an ability or item that gives a temporary immunity to them ... because this is a business and once people learn all the ways they can abuse the CC/Roots in this game people will quit playing it just like they did in every PvP game before this. Having people spend most of PvP frozen in place kills games, it has happened before and will happen again. IMO it is just a matter of time before BW realizes that they need to do the same thing. I think people will realize how game changing pulls/roots/stun/root can be for things like planting bombs in ranked WZ and it will be changed eventually. This is just a L2Think issue.
  12. I don't think as many people think it is broken as say "it's broken", "it's broken" has become internet forum slang for "doesn't work the way I want".
  13. Nobody needs the 30th explanation of how BW made this work. What we are saying is there are BETTER ways for this to work, including the ways that pretty much every other MMO has done it. Pretty much no other MMO allows non-stop, non-diminishing roots on players with no base item or skill to become immune to them. Yes for the 1000th time we get this is not how BW did it we are saying they should change it to the way that the more successful PvP games have done it because it works better and keeps people playing longer. Congrats on your ability to repeat what has been said 100 times though.
  14. So basically every other MMO with PvP got it wrong and ruined their games and SWTOR is the only one with perfect PvP?
  15. No one is asking for immunity for life here, how would a couple of seconds of not being able to be controlled going to ruin the game? Every other major MMO managed to put it in without ruining PvP. No one is saying you can't use your roots to kite people, it just doesn't make sense for 8 people to all be able to use their roots on the same person and have no diminishing returns on them or immunity to it ever.
  16. Here is what I would do. Are you going to gear up as a tank or dps? Either way if it was me I would buy two of the WH relics first, I believe they are going to be the best relics for PvE also and you don't need a trade in for them.
  17. Every game with PvP that I have played has some sort of limited immunity to CC, as well as some type of diminishing returns for CC and usually reduced CC in PvP. I could write out the long list of all the MMOs I have played and beta tested over the last decade but it would make no difference. I love playing SWTOR but I would have a really hard time making the argument that SWTOR's PvP is better than many other MMOs.
  18. Upgrade your stuff, kill the fighters with your blasters, use your missiles on the frigates starting with the forward blasters, finish mission easily and collect xp.
  19. And if this was 1v1 I would agree with you but when you play against 8 classes with that ability and you have one break on a timer that doesn't even help it is absurd.
  20. Either this, give them their own resolve bar, or give everyone at least one break with an immunity to both for a short time after. I really don't think they meant for roots to be what keeps you in place until your resolve bar is low enough to stun you again.
  21. I have been switching specs/gear/roles and trying DPS, DPS Tank (tank spec but dps gear) and Defensive Tank and here is what I have found so far. Aside from ranked, which will come down to specific team makeups, you are going to end up in one of three situations. 1) You don't have any or noticeable heals and being in Tank spec/Gear will make you live a bit longer but not long enough for it to be worthwhile and you will have a hard time killing many people. DPS Tank will kill a few more people but really you will still be weak DPS. DPS you still probably won't win but without healers you are going to make the most difference in pure DPS spec and gear. 2) You have good competent healers that understand how guard works. Tank Spec/Gear you are going to live a long time and in a good fight you won't die once in the fight and the healer you are protecting won't either. You will do OK dps but nothing special. The healers will have no problem keeping you up. DPS Tank you will still stay up just as long and probably won't die but will add a bit more DPS and can kill some people as well. With enough healers you don't need the extra tank gear the healers can still keep you up, you protection will still be huge and your DPS numbers will be not bad. DPS you may or may not be of much value to your team depending on the composition and the specific WZ. 3) You have a WZ with just one or two healers. This is where it seems Tank Spec/Gear makes the most difference. This is where the healers need every heal they can get and the less they spend on you the more chance they can keep someone else alive. The extra hitpoints are going to help and every bit of damage you end up mitigating is a bit of damage an already strapped healer doesn't have to heal. DPS Tank you can still make a big difference here but you are not going to be as effective as a full Tank and if the other team realizes you are guarding one of the only healers it won't be hard for them to focus you down. DPS you may or may not be of much value to your team depending on the composition and specific WZ. TL;DR in non-rated WZ 1) No healers DPS spec and gear is best 2) Lots of healers DPS geared Tank spec is the best, they don't need the mitigation to heal you through and you will make them unkillable and still do a good amount of damage 3) One or Two healers Tank Geared is going to be best because the healers need every heal they can get and any damage you absorb will help
  22. Those 37 abilities don't even include all the ones that lower your movement speed that are usually attached to highly spammed skills. For example PT Shield Tech has Neural Overload which spreads a 50% speed reduction AE every time you do a rail shot. Or PT Pyro has Sweltering Heat which gives you 50% run speed when Combustible Gas Cylinder procs which is usually every six seconds. ... the slows, roots, mez, stuns just never end.
  23. I just think everyone should have at least one break that makes them immune to being stopped again for at least a least a second, not an autowin button. Im not against cc just everyone has so much with so few ways around it.
  24. From my experience it would take a very long time and would be kind of rough. You would get the advantage of having tons and tons of comms to buy medpacks with though. You have to remember that your valor will be capped at your level so you will only be getting credits, xp and comms the majority of the time. Even in the 40's it seems like the XP you get from PvP is one of the slowest ways to level up. I'm sure it can be done though.
  25. Nothing in this game when it comes to pugs is fair in anyway, lets just get that out of the way right off the bat. WZ in this game are always going to suck if you are the only healer, you need someone to help with healing you. Target of target would work fine when you want everyone on the same guy, when there are a lot of healers it is not nearly as useful. Yes with 4+ healers you absolutely mark them all with different symbols and call out who goes where. I'm sorry but if you are calling out who to go after and you have to look at name plates to figure it out that is going to be a very poor way of doing it. Healers are also not the only thing you mark there are times I have my healer mark the person giving them the biggest issues.
