  1. If you play with a macro enabled mouse you can run a sentinal with one button and do just fine. If you are playing with the default UI a commando is pretty forgiving. You can get by with a very limited number of abilities and not worry to much about procs. You are also ranged which makes AOE targeting you easier to see and get away from.
  2. I NO RITE!! I was reading a book the other day and I was like ***, in the movie these explosions are like giant fire balls and in the book they are like just words and stuff. Why can't books have fireballs like on TV? Most of the story lines are epic and expansive. What you need to do is turn on your imagination to fill in the areas that a computer game is not able to fill.
  3. I thought the ramp up of the "man behind the men" storyline worked well. I liked the "this is personal" first couple of act bosses, but I was happy to see it open up into a much larger galactic threat. Getting to the Voidwolf was clumsy, especially just prior to fighting him, but taking down Rogan wasn't going to make me the hero of the Republic.
  4. As long as there is only one instance running the republic is seriously outnumbered, they die a lot, and they gain little in return. Republic turnover is large and getting new people on board of a roaming op every half a minute is not going to happen, meaning more losses and being driven back to the wall until everyone is on board again. Try playing as a ten man op with people coming and going so fast inviting and kicking becomes a full time job. Get this op to the second objective with a full op of Imperials farming you and I'll be impressed.
  5. Your positions requirement is extremely large, you can stand forward of center and still get backblast off. Occasionally in a group of enemies you'll get knocked off, against one or two guys it is to easy to position yourself somewhere other than on the edge of a ramp.
  6. Who cares what Mako thinks about your choices, if it really starts to bother you switch companions. The bottom line is that she chooses to stick with you because your a bass-*** and the only person in the Imperium that has her back, whether she approves of your methods or not she knows your taking care of her. And the real bottom, bottom line is that affection isn't worth the time you spend on it. 0 or 2000, you're not going to notice the difference.
  7. Nearly every MMO with PvP goes live with the 'first strike' option; meaning if you're not flagged you get a free first shot that flags you. Its a great idea, but for some reason nearly every MMO forgets to make an exception for AOE damage. Like Wow, Rift, DAoC and just about every other MMO SWTOR will put in a fix for this. Why it isn't addressed in Beta is that it probably was, WoW fixed it early but it would turn back on every patch for a year.
  8. You're missing something. Try timing your fights with a DPS companion and then with Doc. You may be regening for 10 seconds between fights, but you are killing groups 30 seconds faster. Doc takes all the tension out of fights, but his DPS is absolute garbage. You're better off tearing through groups and healing between fights. Pull out Doc for the ellites and boss battles.
  9. I actually got laid a lot earlier on my Jedi, but once it starts rolling you'll be getting some on nearly every planet. The real key is to choose conversation options based on the person you are talking to, if you try to be straight LS or DS you will miss out on a lot of oportunities. Remember that you are a scoundrel and if you want to get into someones pants you don't do it by being a girlscout, unless they are into costumes.
  10. Forcing people to move out of the impact area can be just as useful as the damage.
  11. Ya, I totally agree, I don't see them adding something like this. Instead I think they would just re-enable color matching from the beta code. They already did the work, if you want to know why they removed it you can Google the topic and find several developer posts. Also doing a quick Google search would greatly reduce the misinformation in any of your future postings.
  12. Its really hard to say which way the ball will roll, but in general your ranged DPS will get the nod in most fights. Especially between the sorc and assasin, one able to DPS up close or from range, the other tied to the back of the mob and neutered everytime they have to move from AOE, move because the mob hops, or looses his rear position. After seven years WoW is only now addressing the melee/range dps discrepencey; SWTORs raid mechanics being very similar to WoWs and not even a mention of melee disadvantages from developers I expect ranged to have the advantage for some time.
  13. If you enjoy the class just ride it out. It is a very popular class at the moment, but as with all MMOs popularity only lasts until the next patch. We are only one month passed launch with our first patch down. The next few months will likely see a big drop in the population as people like you look at population statistics and get put off, people get tired of rolling against full groups of sorcs, and people migrate to other classes as they get buffed through future patches. Agent was the Imperial stepchild at launch and now every newb that gets ganked on Voss is crying for nerfs. Combine the perception of over poweredness with the extremely good agent storyline and I'm already seeing starting areas full of agents, many of them switching over from the previously FOTM sorc. If you really like the class don't worry about the population, it will swing back into line soon enough.
  14. You were 1-2 shotted by someone 10 levels under you? That is complete baloney. A scoundrel lucky enough to open from your rear with a crit followed by a second crit and also having enough surge to make those two shots hit hard enough to take half your health is... not going to happen. You are a soft class in dire need of armor upgrades. You have all the tools you need to survive long enough to stun, slow and retreat. After that you can widdle him down from range. A scoundrel does excellent DPS, but only if you allow it.
  15. Heals are great, and zero downtime is awesome... until you do the math. Even though you have zero downtime the fights are long, at first its not to bad, but when your 45 and he only has two attacks the 10 seconds it takes to regen between fights starts to seem like a damn good deal when fights take 30 seconds less. I run with DPS for regular and strong mobs as well as equal level ellites. I occasionally pull out a tank for difficult ellites, although it can be hard to keep gear up two companions, so more often than not I just muscle through with my DPS companion. I don't recommend a healer companion for anyone, his heals rarely outweigh the loss of DPS, especially as an OP that can vanish if the fight goes bad or adds join in.
  16. I really enjoy stealth, but I don't enjoy being saddled to someones backside. Unlike the inquisitor and shadow and OP/scoundrel isn't tied to someones backside in order to do decent damage. Although our back-blast and opener are rear positional our DPS is not crippled when you fight head on. Also unlike the inquisitor we can fall back to range and still do moderate DPS. This is also an MMO, someone is always going to be on the bottom. If you enjoy the playstyle you can't let being bottom of the heap bother you as this time next patch the starter areas will be flooded with OP and every Republic Trooper will be on the forums cursing Bioware for making them the worst class ever while OPs run over full battalions of them.
  17. Can a droid heal you with Jedi power? And you haven't seen faces melt until you see Guss use that lightsaber.
  18. Hey! The grass is greener on the other side. Dude, go ahead and spend your time making FANTASTIC mods! And you know what? You can replace every one of them with commendations at the end of a planet, or just buy new ones from the mod guy at the begining of a planet. Then, wonder of wonders, you can hit 50 where your PvP gear doesn't even use mods, and your PvE gear already had better mods. You can't win dude. Crafting is meant to be something to do while you level, it isn't meant to gear you, to gear your companions, or to make you money. Its just for fun.
  19. 12% cast reduction is not good? How much additional critical healing chance are you getting for the same stat value? You understand that people are trampled to DEATH at Wallmart for a 10%!?! Its a lot.
  20. Ya, this game is currently more like BC WoW where tanks where not guaranteed to have threat just through a regular rotation, you have to use taunt and DPS has the understand that you are limited in your TPS. DPS also has to remember that many of them have 'high threat' abilities that they need to use sparingly, and some have -threat abilities that they need to be using. If a scoundrel is taking threat for example you had better see him throw up his arms and credits fall out (his detaunt). Also keep in mind that guard is not intended for that healer that is standing 30m back, he isn't going to get threat anyway; it is for the melee DPS that is right next to you pulling threat and getting hit by PBAOE.
  21. Of course every single healer feels this way. That is exactly the reason there are dozens of posts already and the devs have mentioned it in their dev chats. You don't need to post and bump the same old story over and over again. The game needed to be released, not everything could be fit into the release window. Spend less time bumping your tired thread and more time reading the dev posts.
  22. There is a very cool lightning effect along the blade that the dark side sages do. Making it a permanent effect for other classes could be very cool. Really though, I don't think the look needs to be changed and you are focusing to heavily one a single part of your over all look.
  23. Hi, I play a healer/DPS because I don't want any responsibility. I would like to just blindly follow and click on things with a bullseye on their heads. I really like this game because it doesn't have recount or healing meters so I can always blame the tank when things go wrong. It is not the role of a tank to do all the work in an instance. It is the role of the tank to pull a mob out of CC and hit him, thats it. The reason you find so many fail tanks is because you expect them to run everything and be responsible for everything. Marking, CC, and pulling are not restricted to tanks. As a healer or DPS you need to man up, mark targets, and drop CC without being directed by the tank.
  24. If you have been tanking since vanilla then you might have come across something called CC. Through much of vanilla and BC tanks where not intended to tank more than one mob at a time. Tanking two was the mark of a strong tank and three was amazing. Use CC, you shouldn't be tanking more than two ellites at a time. In a pack of two ellites and two strongs, CC an ellite, tank the other and let the DPS take down the strong. Tanking in this game is super easy because you're only tanking one or two mobs. What is making is so hard for you is trying to tank a whole group using no tools; don't. Recap: CC ellite(s) pull and tank ellite DPS take down the strongs first and you don't need to tank them everyone switches to your ellite everyone switches to the next ellite done
  25. You can run NASA with that a computer that expensive. I assume your buying it complete and not building it, regardless there are sub $300 US computers that will run this game on high. Use Google and do a search for sub $300 gaming computers.
