  1. Not to mention that this attacking sentence has absolutely nothing to do with the thread or topic.....strawman.
  2. And I did. I left for over a year. I returned once the story had advanced and sufficient changes were made to the gearing system to make it tolerable. I have not established a 'pattern' - I suggest you rein in the hyperbole. You are still only positing an opinion. Not fact, economic or otherwise. Unless you can provide the evidence (i.e. the actual, REAL numbers), you only have an anecdotal inference. Can you prove that the game would have shut down in 2012 without the merges then?
  3. So? Your experience does not invalidate or take precedence over mine. You may be ok with losing names, I am not. This is pure opinion. Your opinion, to be exact. Others may not agree (and don't, to judge by the others posters in this thread). I solo only. I do not play ANY group content. I certainly do NOT 'chat' to randos on fleet. I do not use the GTN nor am I in the slightest bit interested in playing 'space Barbie'. Server merges, as have been explained to you previously, are most certainly NOT a must to keep the game healthy - going down to a single NA server would mean the death knell of the game (for reasons that have been previously explained to you). Group content is not the be-all and end-all of playstyles. If people are not grouping on their original servers now, they won't group if the servers are merged. Assuming they stay with the game. I have around 75 characters across 4 servers. I doubt very much that I am one of a small set of players. I also do not appreciate being called 'lazy' or having the character limits issues 'mansplained' to me. I am very well aware of the server limits, thank you. Do not presume to tell me how to manage my account. It is arrogant. I'm happy for you. The interesting word in this section is "CHOSE". You chose. Yet you seem to be quite comfortable with the idea of taking that same choice away from other players. Let people choose what they want to do - if other players feel the same way as you and think that the server is dead, they can transfer off it.
  4. I can't and won't speak for anyone else but having been through several server merges (both with SWTOR and other games) and lost names, character slots etc, if another server merge were to happen, I would log out, unsub, uninstall the game and never come back.
  5. Girl needs to grow a backbone and stop being a doormat. He's just......ugh. No words. I do think you are onto something there, OB - Malgus seems to be dancing to another's beat as well.
  6. Must admit, I don't like either wimpy Sa'har or her gross brother, but I'm interested in seeing how it turns out. The tension is definitely building.
  7. For NZ, USD$15 is (at today's Forex) NZD$24.53, plus offshore credit charge for international charge to a credit card.
  8. Have never finished a season yet, and don't expect to finish the current one. None of them have engaged my interest enough to consciously work on them. Across the 4 servers that I play on, current levels are: Darth Malgus - level 38 Star Forge - level 32 Satele Shan - level 45 The Leviathan - level 22
  9. My legacies have exactly the same name across all four servers - keeps things easy if they ever do another server merge
  10. That's why I was gutted when they took away conquest - I didn't care about the rewards (they usually got deconstructed for bits anyway), but it was the actual progression of that conquest level bar that kept me logging back in each day. Having something to work towards is key for me (especially as a story only player, it was pretty much the only progression-based thing I had). It's why I left for over a year after 7.0 dropped. Achievements don't mean jack to me either, but I do enjoy the challenge of a new character on a new server. It's like starting the game again completely from new. It also gives me the chance to make different choices, to do things differently and see how things pan out. Also to try new classes, different combat styles (on one server, my troopers, gunslingers and agents are all snipers - my favourite tech class), genders (to see the difference in stories and options), and different light/dark side options. Not having access to everything on your existing legacy makes things.....interesting Don't really know about the free CCs - probably because I'm not achievement-driven (in game, that is), so I don't notice.
  11. Yes, that's exactly correct. Each server is standalone - you have do do it all again from scratch for each one. In some ways it's not bad - it can be quite refreshing to start out completely new. In other ways, it's a blasted pain in the rear. Having to get datacrons again, having to do 8 sets of class stories to unlock legacy buffs, even having to level your legacy from level 1....can't share armour, mods, resources, credits across servers.
  12. Correct. I play across DM, SF, SS and the Leviathan. Legacy is the same on all 4 servers. I am unable to send mail or anything to any of my other characters on other servers. The legacy cargo hold only works for all characters on that single server.
  13. Change is very scary for a lot of people. I totally understand that. But not changing is not an option either.
  14. I send Amity on crew skills. Anything to get him doing something worthwhile than just sitting around in obscure places in my ships!
  15. The world is changing, and changing rapidly. Technological innovation will mean that the way we used to do things will no longer be viable, and changes are coming faster than ever before. Can anyone remember telexes? They were the precursor to fax machines. Who uses fax machines now? We now have email. Bet you dollars to donuts that there will be something in the works that will take over from email and make it look as clunky and slow as telexes.....what that could be at this point, I haven't a clue - but I bet you it is coming. Look at how the world was in 1900 compared to how it is now - a mere 123 years later. Change happens. The greatest ability the human race has is its ability to adapt quickly to change. To pivot. It's Darwin's law of evolution in action - adapt or be left behind. Am I saying that AI is the next best thing to sliced bread? No. I completely understand the ethical and moral implications. How these will be addressed will be interesting to see, especially as the technology is so new right now. When cars were invented, there were strict rules around use and ownership. People were scared of the metal horses (all they knew to compare them with), so rules were put in place. It has been the same ever since. Actors are definitely high on the list of 'professions' that will be negatively affected by AI. It's then on the actors to pivot, and set up an agreement for licensing the use of their image and voice to provide an income. Likewise, it will be up to the rest of us to pivot with the use of the technology. The genie is out of the bottle - we now need to deal with it.
  16. As JakRoanin said, Tanno Vik's VA (David Anthony Pizzuto) passed away in 2012. Also - Xalek (Tony Armatrading - Joan Armatrading's brother, 2021); Overseer Tremel (Paul Darrow, 2019); Lt/Major Pierce (Adam Leadbetter, 2020) Maybe a couple of others as well? Edit: Also, don't forget that VAs often did 'additional voices' as well as their main characters.
  17. Or if people have since passed (as has indeed happened with SWTOR VAs). Continuity will remain with AI.
  18. I'd love the option to turn off the companion voice (not all sound, just the companion). Subtitles work fine - I neither need nor want to listen to Amity's squeaking, Vette/Ashara/Jaesa's whining, Skadge (just ugh), Corso's 'good ole boy' country hick, the ship's droid (both sides) and several others that irritate the bejasus out of me.
  19. Here in New Zealand (in a town called Alexandra, in the South Island) we actually do have an annual Easter Bunny hunt.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Otago_Great_Easter_Bunny_Hunt
  20. This happened to me last night - character in the Nikto sector of Nar Shaada (I think - somewhere on NS), wanted to pop back to a stronghold to get mail or something out of the legacy storage, got the unable to travel to SH message. Stumped up the creds to QT to the taxi pad - still couldn't travel to SH. Got a bit curious as to how far the block went so wandered about a bit - nowhere could I travel to a SH. Got grumpy and used my emergency fleet pass, which was not what I wanted to do as I then had to go the long way back to NS.
  21. I think the bar of expectation that we have for Bioware is now so low, it's subterranean.
