  1. /shrug Must admit, I've never noticed any difference to the graphics after the 'update'. Everything just looks the same as it did before.
  2. Given the extremely high level of technological sophistication in the SW universe (starships, lightsabers, droids, plasma blaster bolts, ergonomic chairs etc), you'd think they would have at least invented a Roomba....
  3. Yes!! So much truth to that video!! BG3 has absolutely shone a light in the darkness of extremely mediocre, microtransaction-focused game development that is absolutely bedevilling the industry now. And why indeed should not players' expectations be raised?? Talk about lazy thinking and writing, coupled with maximising returns on minimal funds invested (which is what's driving the p*ss-poor product offering we are being fed and expected to pay top dollar for (and for which we should be SO grateful), while being ripped off) .
  4. Yes, it is - based on D&D 5ed. Took some getting used to, but you can swap perspectives to your companions and play as them, allowing you to be VERY strategic in fights, including ungrouping to give precise control over your party. If I know a fight is coming up, I can ungroup then move each member of the group into position to give me the best coverage (rather than having them follow my character around)....you do have to think quite a bit about how you play and composition of your party, which makes it challenging. The only thing I really don't like is the movement mechanics. Still getting used to that.
  5. Yes, and no - I was in beta, and there were major issues right at the start, some of which have never been fully resolved. The vanilla game, with all different storylines and companion choices etc, certainly had a similar feeling. But there was always a certain 'clunkiness' somehow - technology has moved ahead and BG3 looks and feels vastly different to how SWTOR did in the beginning. "...and if we meet again, well - we will have....met again..." cracks me up every time.
  6. I am! Due to being told to stay away from Fleet over the silly event period if I didn't want to participate, I took the advice and tried a new game - BG3. It's SO good, fantastic story, fantastic writing - I'd forgotten what a joy it is to have developers and writers who actually give a rat's behind (it shows in their product). I'm having so much fun, trying out different builds and different storylines with different companions, that I've cancelled my SWTOR sub.
  7. Ok, so you won't even consider any possibilities that don't fit a specific narrative. Can you truly speak for EVERY APAC player and determine that no, summer holidays has (have?) no impact on player population at all? You certainly don't speak for me. How utterly unreasonable is that position?
  8. Is it perhaps possible that a reason why group content has all but died could be due to the fact that it's currently summer holidays in the APAC region, and people may well be away or doing other things than being stuck inside playing a video game (things like socialising with friends and families, having BBQs, going to the beach, going to the holiday house and relaxing, going overseas for holidays, etc)? Anyone from the Northern Hemisphere will tell you how population always drops off June/July/August - their summer.
  9. There's also the Xoxaan's Armour set: https://swtorista.com/armor/xoxaan
  10. If a game were to be developed and released where the seasons match those for where I live, I'd probably play it in a heartbeat (so long as it wasn't mandatory PVP). Games do, however, seem to be solely Northern Hemisphere-centric. Right now, it's the middle of summer for me and other APAC players. Where I live, it doesn't snow at any time during the year - ever. I'm in my mid-50s and have never touched snow. Or better yet, a game where there are NO seasons that attempt to match or tie up with what's happening in the real world timeline. That would be a whole lot less jarring, for sure.
  11. All good, I was just thinking about what DWho said about huge player mounts, and it sort of morphed from there.
  12. We already have the ability to show/not show various nameplates as our personal preference on what we want to see on our own monitors, so it's not a huge leap to think that perhaps a similar "show player mounts" toggle could also be incorporated? Similarly, one that toggles whatever the wording for snowflakes or sparkle bombs or whatever else you don't necessarily want to see could also be done in a similar way. I'm no dev, so no idea if this is viable or not, but it seems a little odd considering we already have this for nameplates in our preferences.
  13. Well, this is pretty condescending: "...and stop expecting everything to be about you and your personal level of comfort (helps in life as well)." I'm certainly not trying to "shame" anyone with a reasonable request. If the visual effect is not evident to me, I don't care how many snowballs get hiffed at me. Fill your boots! I'm not asking for the snowballs to stop being thrown, just for something that removes the visual effect for me (as in, not visual to me on my screen - however it appears to others is nothing to do with me). I have no idea what happens in chat, as I have it turned off while on fleet. Frankly, if people are indeed saying that sort of thing, they are setting themselves up for more of the behaviour.
  14. Yes, that is correct. Right-clicking will indeed remove the effect, yet others have admitted in this thread that they do not respect the other player's choice not to have the effect on their character. The Rakghoul Plague is another annoying one, but you do have the option to disengage with it by buying and using a vaccine. Be nice to have the same option for the Life Day effect annoyance. In all the MMOs I've played, I've only very occasionally taken part in any of the seasonal events as I find them jarring. This is, of course, my own choice, and I've absolutely no problem with the events themselves.
  15. Ah, the condescension is strong with this one! Snowball throwing isn't normal person-to-person interaction in a MMO (and I've played enough of them to know - this game certainly isn't my first). It is only for a specific, time-limited event - but that doesn't mean that those of us who dislike the effect it has on the person who has no choice in being a participant (the target) should be the ones to hide away when we just want to play our game, however we wish to (and how those of us with subs pay for). Equally, those who throw the snowballs should also stop expecting everything to be about them and their personal wishes/comfort, and show some respect to people who immediately click the effect off, indicating that the effect is unwelcome. As I, and many others in this thread have said, I have no wish to have the event or the snowballs removed - if people find it fun, good for them, and may they enjoy every one! All I would like is an opt-out option for the visual effect. It would not impact others' gameplay or experience, so I fail to understand why there is this vitriol towards those for whom this effect is annoying. It's also weird having snowballs in the middle of summer...../shrug
  16. You do realise that there are other things you do on fleet than just the GTN, right? Things that you are UNABLE to do in a SH - like Hyde and Zeek vendors etc. So that makes participation in this tiresome event involuntary - I have no option but to go to fleet, unless you can please advise where I can find these vendors elsewhere so I can go there?
  17. Same here. I'd be ok with a 'vaccine' - so they can throw them at me, get the achievement or goal or whatever they get for it, but the effects don't stick to me, just slide off or something. I hate having to confine myself to my SH because I detest this time of year and these blasted snowballs, and only go to do what I need to do on fleet at the time of lowest population - getting in, doing what I need to do, and getting out again as soon as possible. And while they're at it, make the 'vaccine' also work for NPC snowball throwers, who are equally annoying.
  18. I've been playing BG3 for the past week or so - OMG the writing and story is next-level FANTASTIC!! And nearly the entire game is fully-voiced (other than the Player Character) - it's amazing! Not to mention the graphics (although not a big fan of blood etc, must admit....).
  19. Nommaz doesn't have comprehension issues, he/she/they have a different lens they are seeing things through. As do you. As do I. Making it personal never works, and only serves to put up barriers.
  20. They weren't pushing an agenda - just stating how it is at the moment. Equally, others could say that there are a couple of posters in this thread that are pushing a transfer agenda......the issue is polarising. Neither side is wrong - just a different perspective. Because transfers have not been enabled, SV is *at the moment* acting as a fresh start server. This is not due to any player's action - this is BS's. Whether this remains this way or not, is entirely up to BS. Nothing will happen now as it's the holiday period, so the earliest they would make a decision to open up transfers or not would likely be mid-January (assuming they follow a similar holiday pattern as we here in the Southern Hemisphere do).
  21. Unbelievable. Can't believe this arguing over pixels and Monopoly money/gear/non-real stuff. Has anyone actually thanked BW/BS/whoever for opening a server in the APAC region? After it had been requested for years. Which they didn't have to do, by any stretch of the imagination. If non-APAC people want to play on it with pings like APAC players have had to cope with for 8 (if I remember correctly - feel free to correct if wrong) years, they are more than welcome. I get that BS is using the server as an experiment, to see how a fresh economy behaves. Opening up transfers immediately would crash that experiment, and it doesn't seem like they want to do that yet (based on Keith's post). Ultimately It is entirely their decision, as they are the owners of the servers. Personally, I like the idea of a cloned server in the APAC region - one that is solely a fresh start and leaving SV as a 'normal' server, with transfers enabled. If the economy then tanks on SV as a result, there's BS's answer for their experiment.
  22. Along with the companion alerts for 4X and Pierce for those of us who detest PvP and refuse that playstyle, the companion alert for Bowdaar (Eternal Champion fights) (while they can be abandoned, the alert comes back into your list - give us the option to can it all completely), and the Ilum mission quest that you cannot abandon at all (the vanilla game ends at Corellia for me as I can't stand Ilum and avoid it as much as possible).
  23. Good heavens - you learn something new every day....I did not know that!
  24. More than a few days. I was able to post for weeks when I dropped my sub and became preferred. I never stopped being able to post, right up to when I subbed again (around 3 months later).
  25. I *think* the OP is saying that now trade mail doesn't auto-delete, they have a far higher risk of accidentally deleting one of their saved game mails.... Of course, if they actually paid a bit of attention to the mail (you have to open it to delete it), this problem likely wouldn't occur.
