  1. Hmmm damage output is far from poor. Only class that regularly gets close is BH. We have some nice interrupts (Kick/Stasis/Push/Leap) and 2 jumping moves, as well as a CC slow and Force Push, so we can pretty effectively stop most 1 to 1 incoming attacks. Then we have Enure for temporary 30% heal, Combat Focus can be specced to heal 10%, Saber Ward provides some solid defense, and Guardians can use Soresu form for 60% armor increase and 3% more damage reduction. No problems with survivability there.

But then, sometimes you can play a warzone and get killed every time you look at an enemy player. That's just PvP for you. But Guardians/Juggernauts are far from having bad survivability or damage output. In the end, any class can be made very effective in any part of the game if it's specced and played well. Guardians are no exception.

  2. So far as I can tell from playing Combat spec Sentinel and so far as Rage spec mara (please correct me if i'm wrong) but the specs seem to basically go a bit like this:

    Rage: AoE

    Carnage: 1 on 1

    Annihilation: DoT/Self-heals

I can personally vouch for Rage and Carnage. Great fun watching a republic player's health go steadily down down down while you run rings around em in Carnage spec.

  3. Nah Vette isn't limited by dark/light side choice. But i imagine it would be easier to be dark side with Jaesa, Vette has this thing where she doesn't like slaughter. Kind of a problem when you're a Sith. No such issue with Jaesa, she's insane. Insane rules
  4. Look out for Hizoka in warzones....i hope the character shares the forum name

Oh and for the record, i hit L19 with a Rage spec Marauder last night, and i'm already hitting 200k damage & 15 medals. At 200k damage, how many medals could be for damage or kills? So i must have been getting attacker and defender medals....which means i must have been helping quite a bit.....it's a terrible spec, really.....you have to be bad to play as rage spec....

  5. WOW! what an argument from that guy ^^ !!

YOU obviously never realised that not ALL attacking is done 1 vs 1. I never go into a warzone expecting to duel with anyone. that's what VENGEANCE spec is for. and anyway, i do just fine dueling people. but i don't CARE because i use rage spec for control and cleanup in a group situation. for support. hence, Smash is an AoE attack. numbers aren't the point, it's the effect it makes. i couldn't care less if i come first or last in a warzone, or how much damage i do, as long as i helped my team to do as well as possible

You will never be able play the same way as a Rage spec jugg simply because they're 2 different specs for 2 different things. saying crap like "Rage does a good crit every 12 seconds NOTHING else in its tool box hits hard enough for anyone to care about" is just horse. both specs have almost the same attacks. ever heard of ravage? ever heard of Ravager skill? it's in the RAGE TREE. oh and what about vicious slash? RAGE TREE AGAIN. there's more. what about obliterate? but there's even more.....you don't have a clue what you're talking about, mate

  6. Jaesa all the way. Vette's a nice girl....nice girls are boring :p

Nice girls are for Jedi. Hornie nutjobs are for Sith :D (yes it's misspelt.....didn't realise being horned was offensive enough to censor)

  7. True about light side Jaesa....not romancable. Only dark Jaesa appreciates the finer things in life.

Not true about Vette/Jaesa though. I had my (dark) Jaesa's affection at full 10k and married etc, then decided to get my Vette's affection all the way up. It gave me 1 flirt option, then 2 conversations later Vette questions you about the love triangle, and Jaesa comes along to intimidate Vette into backing off. So you do get a choice. Why you'd need one is beyond me, Jaesa rocks :) imo

  8. Waiting a move or two doesn't work either :( not all the time. You can still get knocked back no matter where you put smash in your rotation, unfortunately. Not a game-breaker, but it's pretty average.

And to the guy who said only bad players spec rage....i don't know what's more stupid: the fact that you actually believe what you just said, or the fact that you said it at all

  9. Yeah no way Rage is going to get to 1 million damage in a wz.....Jugg or Marauder. Most i've ever gotten was 420k as a Jugg in full BM gear. Albeit doing quite a bit of protection as well...but still....50-60k protection doesn't equate to another 580k damage. Thanks for the nerf though bioware...lol
  10. I'm curious about this as well. I've levelled a Sentinel as Combat spec, a Guardian as Vigilance then Defense and then Focus spec, and a Warrior as Rage spec. I like rage/focus the most, with vengeance/vigilance being a close 2nd. I started levelling a Marauder as rage spec now too, but it's still a bit early to tell at L17 if it's any good or not.

It'll be interesting to see if the Marauder buffs etc outweigh the huge armour rating of my Rage Jugg in Soresu form. So far though, marauder definitely has the edge at lower levels.

I can see the survivability being an issue, but then marauders have a few ways around that. Guess i'll have to wait until about L35 before i can really tell the difference. No Force Push is going to hurt me though....nothing like pushing someone off the bridges in Voidstar :p

  11. Focus is still awesome. Sundering throw is gone, Force Sweep bonus is only 20% now, and Stasis is back to 1 minute CD (from 45 seconds) but it's still an easy 300k damage in most warzones.
  12. VoidJustice is right, get Recruit gear if you want to do any good in PvP at all. If you don't have/get recruit gear, make sure your stats are as high as humanly possible, all your gear is Orange Custom quality and your mods are at least 75% Purple Advanced 22 level. Or you're going to get butchered constantly.

Don't waste time buying L23 Advanced Hilts or anything like that, they aren't much better than L22 stuff and they cost 8 daily commendations each piece. Go straight for Recruit gear and save up your warzone commendations for BattleMaster gear.

You'll also want to make sure you do some research into the stats that the BattleMaster gear gives you, and make sure you get the right set. If you do go the BattleMaster route (and you should), try to keep all your main 5 armour pieces (head, chest, gloves, pants, boots) the same. So if you're a DPS Guardian, try to get the Vindicator set. This is because the War Hero PvP gear set requires you to own all the equivalent BattleMaster pieces.

Do this with your gear and you will dominate PvP in no time. And remember....Expertise is your best friend in PvP.

  13. It depends entirely on your playstyle. Vigilance is slightly better off and Focus is roughly about the same after 1.2, so it's really not too much different to before from what i can tell. There still seems to be more Focus Guardians than Vigilance around.....but it could just be my server :wea_03:
  14. -Use Kira if you're not having trouble with staying alive, use Doc if you are.

-Use interrupts against strongs and elites and manage the threat between you and your companion so you don't both get butchered. Stress the interrupts....so many guardians/sentinels can't beat certain bosses because they aren't using the interrupts

-Stats are dependent on which spec you are. If you're running Vigilance, probably best to stack (in order) power/crit/surge (i'm playing a Rage spec Jugg at the moment so correct me if i'm wrong on the Vigilance one). For Focus it should be power/surge/crit and Defense should stack defense/shield/absorb ratings, and mix it in with whatever else you want if you decide to make tank spec slightly more DPS heavy

-Guardians can be pretty lame before the end of Alderaan (about L32), most of our decent skills arrive after that, but persevere! After L32 Guardians are unbelievable

-Best crew skills to have are Artifice, Biochem, Cybertech or Synthweaving. Biochem and Artifice are the only ones (as far as i know of) that have any real content for L50s, and Biochem still far outweighs everything for endgame content at the moment. I personally went artifice and it was great for levelling. I always had hilts for me and my companions

-Remember that Soresu form is your friend. It's up to you whether or not you use it while levelling all the time, but if you're having trouble surviving against some boss, Soresu can save the day sometimes. i stay in it constantly these days for the extra beef. It also means you can use Guard in warzones, which gives you up to 4 more medals

-If you're into endgame stuff at all, make sure you do lots of warzones. the more commendations you have at L50, the sooner you can get into some battlemaster gear

-don't bother with spending credits on abilities you won't use....they can be hugely expensive when levelling. better to spend it on armour

-user your planet commendations on the vendors in each major city to buy armouring, mods and enhancements for orange quality gear. some of the best levelling gear is orange with your own mods put in. be careful with stats, guardian stats can make an enormous difference

-visit the GTN regularly. it is god

any other questions, just ask! hope this helps :)

  15. Zephyrian Slash is a waste of points....Slash doesn't crit enough to make the points worthwhile. Inner Focus would be heaps better, as it gives your Combat Focus another use - gives you an extra chance for a huge Force Sweep when Stasis and Exhaustion are both on CD. Stagger is also pretty useless, i've found. It barely works in PvP (in fact i've never actually seen it work in PvP, so maybe it actually doesn't). Solidified Force (free Freezing Force/Hilt Strike) or Defiance (4 rage generation when stunned) would all be more useful, i reckon. Perseverance (6% strength gain) is also way better than 6% Melee Damage increase from Single Saber Mastery. Improved Sundering Strike should also have 2 points in it too. Combined with the 20% armour reduction from Shii-Cho Mastery it provides quite a bit of extra damage. Small stuff when you think about it, all the best parts are already in there.
  16. I thought it was mediocre up until about L40, then it suddenly became great. I'd give it a 7/10. But that's only because i've played Sith Warrior (8/10) and Inquisitor (8.5/10). All are great though, some of the best story in any game, not just MMOs or Star Wars.

Looking forward to playing Jedi Consular story too though. Gotta play all the stories :)

  17. I can vouch for that. I run a Rage spec Jugg in soresu form with modded BM gear, and i actually tank quite well in warzones, considering all my gear is set up for maximum damage. Lots of protection points awarded, and surprisingly not really any squishier than i normally am without guarding. Obviously i notice it when i jump into a group of 4 or so with AoE taunt on and they start bursting, but that's to be expected to a certain degree. As a sort of hybrid or part time tank, using that kind of setup works quite well. And the damage is huuuuuuuuge. Team up with a healer and you've got an almost unstoppable team
  18. Polebreaker's right. Save up for War Hero gear, don't waste any more on improving BM gear. War Hero stuff doesn't need improvement so go for that! It's expensive so you'll be a while getting the funds for it anyway, better to start now.
  19. Kira for sure. As a tank you should have no issue with threat if Kira's your companion. You could use Doc, but your fights will last 15 minutes each and you will lose no health in any of them. If you're trying to solo heroics or finish quests 2-4 levels above you then use Doc. If you're just doing things normally or if you're in a hurry then i'd use Kira. Between her and Jaesa Willsaam for SW you really can't do better for DPS companions
