  1. Just fight close to the nodes and you'll get attacker/defender ones most of the time. Sometimes for some reason you don't get a damn thing and you could kill 20 guys in front of the doors in Voidstar. But most of the time you will be rewarded with medals. These days it doesn't matter how useful you are to the team in a warzone, it's all about where you fight. I'm kinda sick of being beaten by people (occasionally) who do no healing, no protection, and bugger-all damage, yet get 17 medals for fighting and dying in front of a turret. It makes no sense and it's rubbish. The old system was way better. You had to be good to get medals.
  2. I have all my attacks on QS1 mapped 0 to =, all my CC/interrupts/defense/leaps are QS2 and bound to Shift+number, the rest i put in QS3 (mapped to Ctrl+number) or QS4 (alt+number). I have special stuff like medpacks bound to H, PvP medpacks Shift+H, Speeder is Ctrl+1, Class buffs are Ctrl+2, Guard is Shift+G, Channel Hatred is Ctrl+`, stuff like that. As far as attacking goes, i switch between clicking and button pushing. I don't like taking my eyes off the screen to make sure i'm hitting 9 instead of 0...could be Focussed Defense instead of Smash, which would make me quite dead....so i tend to click for attacks that are placed past 6 on the QS, as well as most of the stuff on QS2.

I've seen mates of mine with just about every single thing mapped to a button or a keystroke....it's insane. I don't know how you guys remember all the shortcuts. Maybe i'm just getting old....but i agree all the same. You really couldn't do well at TOR without mapping a whole heap of abilities to keys.

  3. You really only have one thing that is hitting hard; smash.

Not true, we have other attacks but Smash is our best one obviously. Scream does 2.5-3.5k damage, Ravage does about 3-3.5k, in fact i don't think we have a single attack that does less than 1.5k damage. Even the rage building attacks do a decent amount of damage. Smash is really just one of the many. Rage juggs can single an enemy out just as well as anyone.

There seems to be a common misconception that Vengeance spec makes all your non-Smash attacks much more powerful than Rage spec. It doesn't. Vengeance spec just focuses on Melee damage where Rage focuses on Force damage. Sure, Vengeance will have an edge with those physical attacks but any decent Rage jugg will have a Force Critical Chance and a Force Surge rating way in excess of any Vengeance jugg. And a lot of our attacks are Force-based and not melee, so put 2 and 2 together.

I'll say it again: Rage and Vengeance are no worse than each other. They are just different. This has been proven many dozens of times before by many dozens of people. And from what i can tell, they are always very arrogant Vengeance/Vigilance spec players. Get your facts straight, Vengeance speccers (not all of you, just the annoying minority). How many forum threads do you see out there labelled "Vengeance is bad, Rage is better" or something like that? Not a whole lot, because it isn't true and no Rage spec player would bother putting crap like that up here. We're too busy proving you all wrong

  4. The bonuses are nice, but they're not all that great. Augments are way better IMO but they're too damn expensive. I have a L50 Jugg that i haven't got augmented gear on, mostly because the BM Vindicator look is awesome looking on him, so i just stick with the set bonuses for that one. I have a female L36 Guardian as well though, and no way i'm using standard gear for her. It looks awful, so i'll take advantage of the augmented gear for that character and just hope it doesn't set me back too much cost-wise.
  5. Would you please fix the pvp badge system.

There unbanced scoring for certin classes and if i guard the the fort/area I loose out oin dsp, healing or taughing badges .

There is no point in winning if you are a tank you can get more badges than anyone on the war zone. just from tauting .

You need to guve like 20 bages to the winning side and get rid of taughting bages.

haeling badges are fine I don't know why tauting badges are in the game..

Because guarding is what Tanks do. Without those, they would get almost no medals at all.

And if someone is actually getting medals for preventing damage from using taunts alone, then they are very clever and should be rewarded for their efforts. And also, i think you'll find that tank classes can't heal, so they can't get any healing medals at all. Seems like a fair tradeoff for protection medals seeing as there is 4 for each, and heal classes can still get damage medals.

In fact, doing what you suggest and giving even more medals to the winning side would be disastrous. Here's why....

It's too difficult to get to Gold or Silver rating when your team loses. Even when you win, 15 medals is very difficult to get a lot of the time unless you happen to get a warzone where you can stand in front of a node the entire time. And if a pre-made ops group comes along, you can forget even getting to silver. When you lost a WZ prior to 1.2 it was fine, your place in the results was determined by your skill. Now the winning side gets all these free medals. Good, solid players completing objectives, doing damage and otherwise being a good team member are getting clobbered on the board by sub-par players who happen to be in a winning side.

I really can't wait for ranked warzones to separate the men from the boys, so to speak.

  6. Jugg is more versatile due to off-tanking as said above, but it depends on which one you're better at. If your Jugg is well kitted out and you have a fair bit of experience, you should be able to fill just about any non-healing role short of a full tank. In fact, i've even filled in as tank once or twice. I got belted, but it was doable. If you're better at Merc though, probably best you stick to that. Juggs can be a pretty complex beast, as you probably know by now.
  7. Surge will start to be not worth it after about 75%, or around 270 if you check the actual number. It's always best to go power first unless you're a Focus Guardian/Rage Jugg with the guaranteed Smash crits, as that is the biggest booster to your primary damage. As a commando, i'd say go Crit next and then Surge. Best to get the criticals happening before you worry about how much damage they do.

Keep expertise in mind for warzones too (not really necessary until L50, really) and never forget endurance.

  8. i think at the start of every WZ anyone going to heal could label themselves as a healer if its not clearly defined, it helps team play greatly in many of the WZ platforms.

That would be awesome. Quite often i end up guarding an operative or an sorcerer, and they turn out to be DPS so i just guard a Marauder or someone instead who's actually going at it. It's sad though that you can sometimes see a couple of blokes doing all the AoE heals before the WZ starts, and then the only one guarding them is yours truly. I'm not even Immortal spec...so sad. A little guarding goes a long way.

  9. All of the tanking-capable classes have 100% viable DPS specs, just as all healing-capable classes do.

Thus, all classes, when specced correctly, are capable of filling the DPS role.

    ^ True.

sure they do, but they are garbage in PVE. Do not expect a raid spot on any serious raid team.

^ I bet you're really bad at this game.

  10. If you're pure DPS then you absolutely want to go with the Power Generator and not the Shield. The Shield is going to do nothing for your damage output and your shield chance will be so low that it will barely protect you from any damage. If you're fully 31 points into the Rage skill tree then I'd say you're crazy for using the shield instead of the power generator.

I'm rage spec and i constantly use a shield. Works like a charm. I'm also using Soresu form though, i would never bother with it in Shii-Cho. 5% shield chance is pointless, better to go with a Focus. But in Soresu form it's a totally different beast and the shield comes in extremely handy. I couldn't tell you the amount of time i see "absorbed" come up on my screen. Shields can have some pretty nice stat bonuses too. Nothing like a Focus does, but considering you get shielding as well it's really quite good.

  11. The problem I have with rage is that in seemingly every warzone I manage to get 1, rarely 2 good multiple hit smashes off before the entire enemy team stunlocks me and proceeds to focus me to death in seconds.

That's half the fun. The enemy hates you, so when you beat them and score well they have to sit there and seethe about it. I also like the challenge though, knowing that as soon as i start Smashing i'm going to be a huge target, and then staying alive anyway, or keeping a healer alive as well. I think it's great.

  12. Have faith....there's a lot of good games out at the moment and this game is still only in its infancy.

Although i am disappointed with the drop in players, the Aussie servers are still populated enough to play the game decently. Thankfully.

Maybe it's time for a server cull. I'm in it for the long haul, though. Everyone else can keep their diablos and gears of war.

  13. First time i played as JK class i struggled from Alderaan all the way to the Belsavis. It's like the game went into hardmode as soon as i touched down at House Organa.

Second time it was beatable without having to spend hundreds of thousands of credits on gear repairs.

Third time? Absolute piece of cake. The same strong+2 mobs that were killing me before are being wiped out with me still on 90% health. The only changes i've made have been fine tuning my knowledge of the class and spec etc so i know what all of my abilities and skills do, and making sure myself and my companion are geared up well enough. (i used Kira every time, btw)

  14. Kira most of the way to 50 but now is just a bit lame since she tried to get into my pants

and what exactly is wrong with that? a cute redheaded jedi girl who does whatever you tell her to do and wants to get into your pants is the best thing ever

Just seems way more efficient for killing as I don't need Doc anymore

Agree totally, Doc is more than useless if you're doing any kind of damage at all. It's just not necessary.

The reason i don't use Rusk is i'm not a tank so i can't afford to be constantly taking all the hits.

  15. It'd be awesome if it was a bit like the double-bladed saber, but with a blade toggle. Choosing between a long saber, a normal saber and a double-bladed saber would be sweet. Unbelievably OP, but awfully cool.
  16. There is no after.

I take all the expertise i can get.

Just don´t like the fact that classes with two weapons can stack more expertise on top of their additional augment slot

    That is clearly an oversight.

Not really an oversight. Too much expertise means you aren't getting bonuses for other stats. If a Focus Guardian has 1400 expertise it probably means his/her surge rating and power are quite low. And that means very low damage output. No amount of expertise is going to make up for that. It's all about balance. If you overstack one stat, you're going to neglect something important.

  17. There is no new information in this thread, everything you wrote has been true of the Defense Guardian almost since the game was released.

Couldn't have said that better if you were Bioware.

The best part about this game though is that there are almost limitless possibilities for specs, stats and gear combinations. There isn't really such a thing as right or wrong, and it's always surprising to see what can work. And it never hurts to try something out.

  18. I dunno that it needs anything significant, it's pretty good the way it is. A couple of changes maybe....

-Focus spec definitely needs to be rearranged, it's ridiculous that we have to wait until L41 before we can use the spec and be properly effective with it

-There needs to be a 2nd lesser stun breaker introduced or a CD reduction on the existing one

-Saber Ward's CD needs to drop or we need some extra buff for damage reduction somehow

Other than that i think we do pretty well.

  19. If you're going for overall increase, go with Strength. If you just want your damage to be higher, go with Power. Power makes the most immediate difference. Expertise is a different matter. I've heard that anywhere around 1000 is fine, anything too much more than that is overkill unless you're only using that armor for PvP. Put it this way, mine was around 950 with BM gear (had to replace enhancements, lost some expertise) and i was doing just fine. Better than fine. But it's no different to power or surge etc, too much and it's less effective, and you're limiting how much you can build up other stats. And no, there's no cap as far i know. You wouldn't really want to have it high enough to find out anyway
