  1. Actually, those are scenarios that get explored by any good raid leader before you ever set foot into the instance. It isn't a composition issue. You brought 4 healers because you need them TO ACTUALLY HEAL. Your tanks are doing their job and adding as much dps as they can already. You have 10 DPS, but you're still wiping to the boss's enrage timer. Which of your DPS is underperforming, and why..? It's not a hard question, but you've yet to answer it.
  2. I'm actually not a min/maxxer like he claims... He's just using that as an excuse because he can't answer a simple question... He thinks that min/maxxing forces people into cookie-cutter specs, but, really, anyone who has been involved in min/maxing in the past knows full well that there is a lot of disagreement, especially at the top. And any player who grabs that FOTM cookie-cutter spec because someone on the internet told them it was good is just as bad of a player as someone who doesn't understand their class at all.
  3. You fail again to answer the very basic question... Your raid is wiping to the boss' enrage timer... Which of your dps is underperforming, and why..?
  4. I'm 41, so I'm guessing that he was raiding on ENIAC, and using punchcards to perform all of his awesome rotations...
  5. Don't even try it. All of your posts here make it clear that you don't have a clue. And this quote proves it beyond all doubt... The very fact that you would say something like that proves to every raider in this thread that you have no idea what you're talking about. You have 4 healers for a reason. Because that's how many you need to keep your raid alive. If you didn't need that many, you wouldn't take that many, in the first place. The tanks have other jobs, and any decent tank is always going to contribute as much as he can to dps, unless it's a stop-dps situation. The fact is, you have no way of knowing which one of your dps isn't performing up to par. It could be the guy with weak gear, but it definitely could also be a guy in good gear that is either slacking, or doesn't understand his own class very well... But you have yet to provide one single word as to how you would identify which people are underperforming, and instead you've offered up very laughable "solutions". 'nuff said.
  6. Try Jarg and Sorno on Nightmare 16-man when one of them gets to 35% and Jarg starts one-shotting random people... lol The 8-man nightmare version was pretty easy, though...
  7. Isn't it crystal clear, though..? He doesn't have an answer... Just the scars from some meanie booting him from a raid because he wasn't doing his part.
  8. So now you're making two seperate replies to one of my posts in attempt to deflect the fact that you STILL have been unable to answer that question..? Which healer was the low one, and how did you determine that..? Which dps players were underperforming, and why..? How did you determine that..? The very fact that you think asking a healer to dps more is a solution conclusively proves that you're clueless when it comes to raid composition and strategy. Sounds like you've been raiding with all the wrong people. It's likely because the other 15 people you COULD raid with (in a real guild) don't really think that wiping because of your "fun" build is really all that fun for them. That gets you stuck with people who don't know how to interpret data in context, and kick people for poor dps on the turn of a dime, rather than attempting to help them improve. Trying to bar people from using data, just because you play with people that don't use the data right, is total nonsense.
  9. Still waiting... You don't know which healer was the lowest, so how did you choose him..? Your DPS is slow, and you're wiping to the boss' enrage. Which DPS is slow... and why? Hardcore guilds use the data. They know how to interpret it in the context of the fight mechanics. Obviously you've never been in one. And... again... I'm glad you're not a real raid leader.
  10. People bowl and play pool professionally and use several tools and techniques to improve their skills. But in your world, none of them should be allowed to improve just so that you could be allowed to slop your way through every level of play.
  11. Still waiting for you to not fail that encounter... You now have 2 tanks 3 healers (because you made one dps now lol) and 11 dps. Still wiping. Wonder why..? Except now you dont have enough heals because you asked a random heal spec to add his meager dps to the fight... plus people are dying to lack of heals because you had no way of knowing which healer was lowest and probably chose poorly. So... Which of your dps is underperforming...? And why would you choose to switch a heal to dps when you have no idea who the lowest healer is..?
  12. Untrue. In fact, they reserve the hardest mode boss fights specifically for those that enjoy that type of challenge. Your world where every boss could be zerged by a random group in greens is boring and lame. They have those bosses for you in normal modes. Nightmare should be a LOT harder.
  13. Fail. Who is your weakest healer and how do you determine that..? If you go by gear alone, that is even more fail, because I've seen plenty of undergeared players out-perform geared ones. You're failing the encounter because your DPS is too slow. You can't identify who is underperforming, and your solution is to ask a healer to do the DPS' job? I'm glad you're not really a raid leader... lol
  14. Okay... You're the raid leader. So answer me this question. You have 2 tanks, 4 healers and 10 dps. The boss you're on keeps wiping the raid because it hits the enrage timer. Your dps is too slow. Which of the 10 dps is underperforming, and why..? Go.
  15. Yes it is. Ignorance is never good. You want to go to extremes. Either no combat log at all, or they are the be-all end-all. But the truth is that any player who focuses on his own dps to the point where he ignores fight mechanics is just as bad a player as the one who is afraid to be exposed for their poor play. And any raid leader who can not recognize those two players is bad, too. Currently, we can easily see who is ignoring fight mechanics, but there is no way at all to tell who is dps'ing poorly. You have 2 tanks, 4 healers and 10 dps. If a boss enrages because your dps is too low, how do you correct that? You have no way of knowing who is underperforming, or why. Which of the 10 is it..? Why are they low..? Ignorance is NOT bliss. More information is ALWAYS a good thing.
  16. I use it all of the time too, but in order to do so, I need to leave the game running and in windowed mode, as full screen does not seem to work. I even get fairly good framerates. Not playable really, but enough to craft or whatnot. What I have found is that you can launch the game on your main pc and even if the servers aren't up, you can leave it on the server select screen with no problem until they come back online. Then you can just server select from the remote. I've actually never had the game force me back to the launcher. It logs me out of my toon to character select, and then out of the server on timeout... But never forces a complete application close.
  17. Yep... The old "ignorance is bliss" argument. Sorry, but that's crap. More information in the hands of players and guild leaders is a GOOD thing. Almost all of the bosses in this game have an enrage timer, and thus a dps requirement. If you can't, or won't, meet that requirement, then you're wasting the time of 15 other people and you should EXPECT to get "kicked to the curb".
  18. Not sure what would be causing this. I have a very similar system... Same GPUs, Core i7, Raid 0 SSD and whatnot... I had a serious problem early on with shadows... But they seem to have fixed that. You might try turning them off to see what happens, though...
  19. Well... It actually does effect NA/EU players that are on the servers that transfers are being allow from. There are several people that play in Australian-based guilds because of their off-peak playtimes/schedules. I know I used to. It would suck to see my entire guild transfer away to a different server and not be able to go with them just because I registered in a different country. It's a legitimate complaint.
  20. This is where your post fails. Name for me one game... Any single MMO outside of FFXI... That FORCES you to group up with people... WoW sure doesn't. AoC..? Nope. EQ or EQ2..? Nope... You can level solo in those games easily. LoTRO..? Love that game but you dont have to group for anything if you dont want to... Hrmm.. Rift..? Nope. Where is the game your're putting up that can't be done solo? Star Wars has a ton of group content if you want to do it, just like every other game on the market... FFXI is the only game I can think of where you're actually forced to find people to play with if you want to even level your toon. Solo play in WoW is a joke. It's easy as hell. This game isn't single player... Get back to me when you've downed Nightmare Soa by yourself.
  21. Because it's an idiotic point. WoW has had teams of people writing code on it for over a decade now. Swtor has had people coding on it for roughly two years or so. You can decide you want a bazillion features and content in a game, but the more you want in it, the more time it takes to code. They aren't wishing it into the game out of thin air. At the same point in their development cycles, ToR is easily ahead of WoW. By far.
  22. I agree with a lot of the things that the OP would like to see in the game, and disagree completely with some, but... The fact of the matter is that game development takes time. Blizzard has had teams of people coding on WoW for 7+ years now and several years prior to release. Even if Bioware has decided that they want to implement all of these features (and they've already discussed several of them), it would still take a while to add them. I'm not entirely sure that Bioware is fully convinced that some of the things in the OP's post would be a net positive to the game, though. I love this game, with all of it's flaws and things that I would like to see added. The thing that does keep me playing is the fact that Bioware is constantly adding patches to clear up issues (that I agree some should never have been in release) and add content and upgrades. They're not exactly slacking. Each weekly patch has added a pretty significant amount of coding to the game. For some, that might not be enough... And all I can suggest is to maybe step back for a while and resub later when their favorite desired features get added. Personally, I'm patient enough to wait, and with all of the alt replayability, I'm going to be busy for a while, anyway.
