  1. To answer your thread title. I expected the game to be polished. I mean, I thought rift was unpolished at launch but this game takes it to absurd levels.
  2. eh, 3 is ok, the other 2 just look anorexic
  3. You do realize by virtue of creating this thread, you are also one of "the complainers"
  4. That's because it's trivial to show the adverse effect on people without mods, and impossible to show any adverse effect on you (since there isn't one)
  5. The only slippery slope here is the slippery slope fallacy that you using here...
  6. Actually, a conclusion with fallacious support isn't necessarily false, it's just bad logic; it's possible for the conclusion to be true even though the logic is wholly fallacious.
  7. Sure, but it's asinine for you to insist that your way is the correct one. There's nothing misleading about it. It's just simply fact: If you don't use them, they have 0 effect on you.
  8. hey, maybe we should use the design from before there were computers. Back then, games used to be designed so that you had to meet in person to play with people. Maybe we should go with that, since older = better, eh? or, perhaps we could keep up with current and good mmo design where garbage like that sort of artificial limit is a thing of the past.
  9. It's good that you have fun with that. If you enjoy hitting yourself in the head with a hammer, or eating lead paint chips... well, you just keep on doing what you enjoy. but that's irrelevant on whether someone else enjoys it or not. Nice strawman. No one is asking for that.
  10. What exactly is an exploit when a level 16 loots the chest that isn't an exploit when a level 50 loots the chest? If there is a difference, why is level relevant? I'd say, regardless of level: the person walks up to a chest, opens it, and gains the items, exactly as the game designers intended... no exploit is involved.
  11. Irrelevant. TOR competes with the wow of today, not the wow of 7 years ago. Again, irrelevant, even if it's true. Yes, it is. Absolutely. No, if the game doesn't live up to people's expectations, it's a problem with the game. You happen to have different expectations are are delusional enough to think that only your expectations are the reasonable/realistic ones, but that doesn't really mean anything. The statement "what it is" is only meaningful in the context of the expectations built up by other games. No, that's not true. If you support it and don't talk about it's faults, then it won't get better. There's actually a much better chance of it getting better if you don't support it, and do talk about it's faults.
  12. No, I've mostly won and still think they kind of suck.
  13. meh, lack of gladiators and pit fighters on nar shaddaa is about the same.
  14. Protip: you did reply. Yes you can. TOR doesn't exist in a vacuum; it exists alongside a game that has been live for 7 years, and another game that has been live for more than 12 years, and many others. It can be compared to all of them, as they exist today.
  15. No, if a high enough % of the people in the game, even newbies, are just clicking through the voice acting, then for new expansions they may significantly reduce the amount of actual new voice acting, use more alien speech (which is reusable without new voice acting), recycle existing non-alien voice acting, and use more data terminal type quests (where you get the quest in wholly text form). Really, it could significantly impact how much new voice acting appears in expansions.
  16. Can? Sure. Often does? Then you have a bad design.
  17. I would expect them to do so. It's in their interest to know for sure how much value added that feature is, and whether it's worth spending that kind of money on in the future.
  18. are you going to use purple mods? I'd expect them to be about the same in that case.
  19. Actually, it was a complaint about wow at launch too. It's something that blizzard had to focus on fixing, because several of the games it was competing with had valid end games. Likewise, it's something that TOR is going to have to focus on fixing. lfr really has nothing to do with hardcore raiders... it's for the casual raiders.
  20. This would be less of an issue of so many of the planets didn't feel so tiny. a. Dungeon finders, even xserver ones, do not destroy mmo communities or destroy character progression. The notion that server communities can actually self police is delusional at best. b. Same goes for warzones. c. You can certainly play sw:TOR as a mindless anonymous pvp grind. There's nothing people can do to stop you from doing so. a. To fly around on a jet pack. I see npc's do it. I saw the bounty hunter in the trailers do it. I want to do it in game. b. Actually fly my ship around the planet. I have a ship, it should be better than any flying mount in any other game. Other than making an ad hominem attack, you don't actually address this concern. I have more than one friend who are playing it because they think it's a good single player game. I'm not really sure why you think it's so great for a role player. You don't actually get to role play in this game any more than any other game. It's a lot closer to Roll Playing. Take it from a current software developer, past game QA tester.... seriously, this thing is terrible; calling it stable and bug free is a travesty. The only launch that I've personally seen that is worse than this was the GoD expansion for Everquest. You can tell that the attitude for the last few months has been "we'll fix it in a patch" ... it makes the whole game seem rather unpolished.
  21. actually, the teachers that I know are mostly back at work already.
  22. some quests can't be dropped. It's not hard to get more than that even without grey quests.
  23. hardcore vs casual != skilled vs unskilled Games are becoming less hardcore, but that doesn't mean that they're getting easier. A game where the strat is Clear trash, Send in the tanks, healers and melee dps. Once enough melee dps have died, send in the caster dps. is hardcore, but hardly can be said to require skill.
  24. Personally I hope that dual spec is first, but that's another thread.
