  1. Unfortunately this feels like a case of breaking what wasn't that broken. Nothing is perfect but what we had before was fun. I was quite content with 10-49 PvP prior to this patch and have an alt of at least 18 or higher of every class so I could play whatever, whenever. These changes have been too much. Really bums me out. It's ok to admit bolster was a failure and revert. I just don't see that happening though.
  2. Excellent post. You clearly put a lot of thought and heart behind it. I largely agree with it too. It seems the problem is that they feel obligated to make something over the top and "EPIC" at 50, rather than just continuing with the tried and true Star Wars aesthetic that was portrayed in large 1-49.
  3. BioWare needs to handle this issue the same way Trion did with Rift when they shut down low pop servers that had no hope of survival. Offer free transfer to multiple medium pop servers. Cut out about 50 of the dead ones out there. Then reopen some of those servers as "new" ones if the game sees growth down the road. Less servers means more servers with higher populations...means, more to do, less reason to stop playing. Win/Win! Closing a bunch of servers does not need to be an admission of failure or defeat from BioWare. It will be talked about and viewed as such by some, but it's what needs to happen. They opened up a bazillion servers due to the mass of people playing on launch and clearly overextended. Time to pull back, consolidate and foster growth. It's simple laws of business and economics.
  4. Not sure why this has still yet to be resolved. Why Ctrl + A still toggles ambiance and can't be unbound for some perplexing reason. I play all MMO's with CTRL and SHIFT as modifier binds on my mouse at certain letters. Such as CTRL + F and CTRL + G or SHIFT + 1 and SHIFT + 2. It allows me to have an absurd number of binds so I can PvP or PvE without having to click abilities. In SWTOR, holding down CTRL while strafing with A and D will completely lock you up when changing direction. This does not happen in other MMO's. This is a flaw that needs fixing. It's a huge annoyance and doesn't seem like something that should be that hard to fix. Please fix this.
  5. I regret rolling all my alts on a medium/low pop server. I've got 2 50's there and 4 level 15's all for PvP. I want to reroll on Fatman, Harbringer or Swiftsure, but starting completely over and losing 4 million credits...ugh.
  6. They need to start by allowing people from the the 50+ dieing servers to transfer for free to medium pop servers. I highly doubt people from The Harbringer and The Fatman are going to want to leave one of the few places in game that have a thriving population due to people rerolling from servers with nothing to do. Obviously an option should be made for people on these servers to go to medium pop ones, but few will take it. So basically, the dieing servers need to be scrapped and shut down. Consolidate the population and then if the game performs well, with time, they will be able to reopen servers for growing numbers. As it stands now though, the majority of people in this game are stuck in servers that are on the precipice of death.
  7. How would the community feel about Valor Rank being tied into your Legacy? I for one have a level 14 alt minimum of 7 of the 8 possible classes because I like the ability to play whatever whenever in PvP. In the process of this I have three characters over valor rank 40 since I largely PvP to level as to skip Bonus content. (2 50's and a 44) I think it would be nice if our Valor Rank was tied into our Legacy so that all the PvP we do impacts our rank as a whole rather than individual characters. An argument that could be made is that a War Hero level 14 or something is pretty weird. Still, in a game that promotes alts as much as SW:ToR I think this would only continue to promote such activity. Does this make sense? Would you like to see this? Thanks!
  8. I play on a very low pop server in WoW...yet when I log on in the afternoon there are well over 100 level 85's in Stormwind. Lucky to see 20 on my server and it was a launch one that had to deal with wait times. It's pretty deflating. I'd be completely for leveling my alts on Swiftsure or The Fatman (the only two servers that seem to consistently be above a light load) but thanks to Legacy there's absolutely no benefit in doing so. ...I'm also not going to pay $200 in cash to transfer all of my characters to a server with a moderately healthy population a mere four months after launch and over $200 already spent on a 6 month sub and CE.
  9. Anonymity erases all guilt. Noble idea but an impossible reality. Still, it doesn't erase the fundamental problems 1.2 has created in regards to PvP.
  10. Actually my first 50 was Republic and I PvP on both sides. I have level 14's of every class but Smuggler. I win just as much on Republic as Imperial. That could be an amalgamation of my server though. I'm sure there are servers where it's brutal to be a Republic PvP'er. It just happens man. BioWare can't make people chose otherwise. Look at World of Warcraft. When the game started, everyone was Alliance. I do mean everyone. Horde players were frustrated. These days everyone is Horde. Complete reversal. There are massive servers such as Illidan where the population is upwards of 80% Horde. I have a Sorcerer because I want to shoot lightning instead of pebbles and a BH merc because I want all the neat gadgets instead of a giant gun. Also a sniper because I want to use a sniper rifle over some pistols. A lot of the imperial classes are just more appealing to the masses. I rolled a Sith Warrior after getting my JK to 50 because of the appeal of the Jaesa storyline. The only story in the game where you can actually influence the alignment of a companion. Simply put. The Imperials have cooler mirrors of the Republic classes and the Horde (bad guy) dominated mentality that has gripped WoW simply translated over to SW:ToR. Again, BioWare can't do much to stop that unless they give going Republic an advantage...and that opens up a dangerous can of worms.
  11. The problem is that WoW had these things well before SW:ToR released. There's not much excuse to miss features from a game that launched in 2004 especially when the current version of WoW is direct competition due to how much influence this game takes from it. You do NOT want to release a game like WoW was at launch these days. That's suicide. SW:ToR simply released a year too early. They had a Christmas deadline for 2011 and had to hit it. It reminds me of with KotoR 2 was released early to once again hit a Christmas deadline. One more year for polish and additions such cross server stuff, interface fixes, etc, would have made...say, a Christmas 2012 launch an exceptional one. I have little doubt the devs wish they had extra time, but it's not their call. The higher-ups said we want sub money now and now they're dealing with the repercussions. It's been a very rough start for this game. I hope it can pull through though. BW needs to stop shooting themselves in the feet though or before you know it they will be merging servers to help with population issues. That's never a good sign.
  12. As someone else said. Respec is quite common. Also, PvP never provided that much money. It was enough to help out with what was needed. PvE'ers made far more, as well they should and continue to.
  13. This had to happen. Dumb or not it helps with queues. I'd rather fight my own faction than no one at all or waiting an extra thirty minutes to do so.
  14. Credits can be used to put PvP mods in different looking gear? Just playing the other side here, but PvP'ers most certainly use credits.
  15. I knew something was up when I saw so much quitting going on. I had a Huttball game where the other team scored twice. Our team was down to two people after that, myself included. Killing exp gain just to give it back as a legacy reward in 1.3 is laughable. I really wonder what's going on over at BW right now. They just keep making moves that enrage enough of the community to continue the hemorrhage of sub losses that has forced them to hand out a free month of playtime a mere four months after release. I can't quit. I paid for 6 months and a CE...that doesn't mean I won't stop playing though with GW2 and D3 around the corner along with Mist. So many continuous blunders. It's actually quite saddening. I honestly feel bad for the hardworking folks in Austin. Hand work or not, bad decisions diminish much of it.
  16. Yeah, I don't really get the point of this at all. It serves no purpose at all. Also, many characters get married to companions, but they can't be a spouse, etc. I just don't get it at all. It's nothing more than something to stare at for no other reason than to stare. This would have made sense if the family tree could work with other players. Then you have something interesting.
  17. Yeah, I'm doing the quests to get her and the fact she can't go dark side makes no sense to me. She's prime material for falling but apparently she has the will to never turn? That makes no sense to me. I get that maybe they want Jaesa to be the lone example in the game, but it's just silly to be some all powerful Sith that's incapable of molding an impressionable Padawan into a follower of the dark side. If anything she has more flaws that Jaesa had and she fell pretty quick.
  18. Shouldn't just be hair. Needs to be complexion and cosmetics as well. Basically, practical stuff. Obviously no face model, skin or sex changing, etc though.
  19. When will the dev team open up keybinding? Especially for the CTRL key. As it currently stands we can't change CTRL + A from toggling ambiance and it makes any CTRL modifier binds bordering on unplayable in a movement intense environment via WASD since doing so stops you in your tracks.
  20. He's just a troll. Every single top WoW raider in the world uses an add-on. Same goes with the PvPers.
  21. Kind of upsetting with a 7 year old MMO has better armor textures than this one. Especially since the SS"s and videos advertised high-rez textures in ToR. False advertising is never a cool practice to get into.
  22. I'd find it hard to believe that they haven't thought about this. Question is, when or if i will happen. I personally hope it does. They need to open one giant casino for this though for people to congregate at, as well as have a little room in all cantinas for people questing to have the option. Should definitely involve money (not outrageous sums though to prevent laundering). Something like 100 - 200 - 500 credit tables. Would be a hell of a lot of fun.
  23. This needs to be fixed. It's driving me insane. I hit ctrl + my 3rd mouse button while trying to strafe left or right (with A and D) and it just makes me stand still due to it being bound to things that are impossible to unbind. It's ludicrous.
