  1. So I guess we're just hosed on this one. I don't see any staff replies. Waited 5 years for a fix that never came, and the companions I grew up with act like they don't even know me. 4 support tickets and its like talking to a cynical AI. 2 bug reports that went into the ether.
  2. Well for some reason... I was just playing this game like 2 days ago, and it wants to redownload 40GB of data. ... There's been no patches/changes to my system/etc.. rip data cap for the month. .. oh cool had to shut the game off, started it back up, and its downloading 20gb again. nooyce. can confirm its really downloading, not verifying, at least a few gigs of this each time, can't exactly tell, super duper. didn't get to play all night because of this. rip data limit again.
  3. Tanno, that was the one I was trying to remember. Yeah I thought it was weird that he pops up pretty much immediately in KOT but wasn't recruitable no matter what you did, now I know why. That's extremely tragic. It makes me want to go through Tanno's original story again, I'm struggling to remember exactly how I felt about him, but I do recall at least one of my characters enjoying his company, and brief story arcs. Like, I don't get it. Like, SWTOR is a beloved franchise. And it has its faults, but still maintains a ton of promise. There's still tons of love they can pour into this franchise and its characters. Someone's just got to dig through the code and start fixing things. I'm surprised to hear that no two people's terminal experiences are the same. Yes, One of my Akaavi's thinks I'm still frozen, and my other Akaavi is a blank slate, only having joined the alliance. Which tells me that rekindling my relationship wasn't saved at all. Which is why I got the stock conversations, so that conversation was with the copy. Which makes it all the more odd that they couldn't have at least coded a path to restart relationships... You know, this explains why I had two of some of my companions in different parts of my XS now... Anyway, my Smuggler keeps getting flirt options with Lana, and even other NPC's that keep weaving in and out of the story. And idk how I feel about that. It's weird. I'd figure since he was married to Akaavi, he wouldn't have so many flirt options anymore. But it's like he had a fling with Lana that I don't remember...
  4. Eh nevermind, in 'whispers in the force' update my reunion to Akaavi, I get the stock dialog. What a giant middle finger. That's exactly what I didn't want. Guess that answers my question, 5 years and this didn't get fixed. Waited for nothing.
  5. Yeah unfortunately the way this copy problem seems to work, I have two of each companion, each with its own choice recaps now. I think the story itself is tracking my original companion, but ingame its tracking my copy. So my Akaavi technically exists as far as the story is concerned, but the one running around with me is one with all the default standard choices made. So I think if more Akaavi story pops up, she'll suddenly appear and remember everything, then go away and my copy will be back.
  6. I really don't see how this's unfixable, I know I'm dwelling on this way too much. But I poured a ton of time into this character, blegh. 1) So the terminal made a copy, got it. 2) Then 5.9 happens, and the real Akaavi comes back, and the relationship resumes. 3) Akaavi (and at some point persumably almost all of my crew) become 'unavailable'. Leaving me with the blank templated copies. So I'm walking around with the copies... when story happens, which companion am I advancing, the copy or the 'unavailable' one? This could literally all be fixed if we had a way of visually seeing exactly where we stood relationship-wise with every NPC. Because I had Lana flirt options yesterday which threw me for a loop... And she was acting kind of clingy. So I wonder if my smuggler had been hitting on her for a while. This seems really easily fixable. If they either had ways of tracking relationships, or had made every relationship option also a companion option at some point. And whatever happened to the relationship options on Makeb? I guess I should have been keeping a flowchart.
  7. OH yeah I forgot about that! The early early days. Yeah again in hindsite, living a few hours without your companions isn't a big deal. The problem was *at the time* that it wasn't a few hours without your companions. It stretched into like 6+ months before they even started bringing them back in a trickle. And there was no hope that it was going to happen at all.
  8. Yeah I definitely agree the KOTFE/KOTET choices are more inline with how a proper choice system works. There were several companions in the 2009 release I wanted to just 86 immediately, and in talking to support realized that you actually can't. They remedied that in KOTFE/KOTET by letting you kill off many of those characters, or at least telling them off properly. Although I feel like if you're playing a dark side character you should have been able to maybe have options to kill off MORE of them, and light side, maybe kill off less of them, but working your way to the darkside further and further until you go full psycho on characters who really their only fault was being a blundering idiot, and not outright evil. But then there's other characters that you couldn't save or recruit earlier I feel like you should have been able to, but you could definitely tell they were trying. which all the more reason why this glitch is bumming me out. then of course there was some romance options that never became companions that I feel like should have. Jaxo was one for trooper, and I remember the smuggler had a smuggler gal also, she comes back in Rishi for a cameo and there's one last little moment you can have with her but having tons more optional companions would have been so dope. but yeah then there would have been probably another 10-20% companions for them to manage but it would have made the store feel a lot more genuine and scripted than it did. more optional companions earlier on would have turned this very closely to a top-tier narrative journey. and I can only guess that was their original intent but they ran out of time/scope.
  9. I guess shame on me for wanting my companions back out of sequence. hindsite's 2020, but at the time there was no roadmap saying if/when our companions were coming back. I think it made sense to use the terminal, given the circumstances and having almost no companions at the time. However there should have been full disclosure that there was a copy being made, and there was no testing done to ensure they revert/clear out properly. I have a sincerely hard time believing they can't wipe out my copies and assign my originals back. 5.9 I was clearly talking to my original Akaavi when I rekindled my romance. I don't understand your 'story choice has consequences' thing, I'm guessing you're talking about something else. Most of KOTFE/KOTET is scripted, not choices. I didn't choose to lose all of my companions for a giant chunk of story. That was scripted.
  10. 4th ticket. apparently I'm stuck with the terminal copies, and they're unable to restore the original copies. Which is why the terminal copies have absolutely no history with me. This's beyond infuriating.. I can literally see the second ones under 'unavailable' they're definitely there, they aren't gone. And 5.9 I was having the conversation with the original Akaavi... Am I really hosed on this, has nobody been able to get their account fixed? I feel like an absolute idiot for using the terminal now. They should have been clear those companions were copies, not the originals. This's a day 1 character, and I feel like the last 3-4 times I've turned my account back on, which playing just feels like a waste now when the story progression with like 5-6 of my companions is literally broken.
  11. I'm positive that's what did it, the console recovery. I don't have a relationship status with the copies except that they joined my alliance. The originals it does say that here whereabouts are unknown while I was in carbonite, which is what they all say. then as soon as I'm out of the story, it's reverting back to the terminal copies. It's also really curious that with several of them, I have two different relationship levels, so they're absolutely completely unique companions, despite having the same names. This's got to 100% be a known defect just like they originally told me in 5.9. I can't believe 3 tickets now and it's like talking to a troll AI. They must not be able to tell the difference between the copies and originals and assign me the originals and delete the copies, or something. Which I assume was the original intent.
  12. Okay I can definitively say my character's companions are glitched out. I started Onslaught and I had 2 Akaavi's, 2 C2N2'S, two HK51's, 2 Corso's, and 2 Risha's. And each group had different journal entries and different rep levels. I took a video of it this time. I really wish I could get tech support to help me with this instead of what I'm getting which sounds like weird AI responses.
  13. edit 3. started onslaught and I have dupes of multiple companions under 'unavailable companions'. clearly my account is glitched out. would really appreciate some help. took video evidence. Edit 2, TLDR: I'm three tickets in and can't get a straight answer, so I'll try to word this a different way. Does anyone know if after 5.9, when you decide to rekindle your relationship with Akaavi, is it supposed to save in the companion journal? Mine only says that she rejoined the alliance... Edit. I must be explaining this wrong, or something. TLDR after 5.9 I opted to rekindle the relationship, and it appeared to not save any additional history. I opened a ticket at the time and they responded it was a known issue. I check in every year or two, and I keep getting canned responses. So either I'm not understanding, or there's miscommunication somewhere. She has no history other than 'joining my alliance' so, what am I missing here. Is there some other way to check on their histories? My Corso and Risha both also appear to have no history other than 'joining the alliance'. This seems like a defect... or am I missing something? -- The last 5 years have been somewhat upside down for me. But I keep trying to come back to see if I can ever continue my Smuggler properly. So I'm back again, and I opened a ticket for my Akaavi , because she acts like we've never met before joining the alliance (basically I selected all the options to keep the relationship going, etc. but none of it 'saved') So it's like forgetting that we had spent like four years together when we were finally reunited in 5.9. I put in a ticket for this right away, the day of the patch, basically, and I got a quick response that it was a 'known issue' and that it'd be remedied, etc. And well, that's basically when I stopped playing. Well I check in every year or two, and every time I open a ticket to no avail, and keep resubbing hoping it's fixed. And here I am again, so I figured I'd ask. I opened a ticket, however they responded that my Lana was fine, said they couldn't help me, closed the ticket. But really curious about Akaavi. So I opened a new ticket, asking politely to please check again. I mean I have her maxed out at 50, kind of hard to believe that she popped up out of nowhere even tho my Smug was created back on day 1 of go-live. Has anyone else had the same problem, were they able to fix it? My tickets have been wiped so there's no evidence that I've brought this up in the past. I stopped my character's progression back 4 years ago until this could be fixed... I'd like to keep going. 😕 but with that huge chunk of progression gone, this still doesn't feel like my character, if that makes sense. Thanks.
  14. I could write a book about how I would switch the ship types into four classes, and just let us customize them however we want based on what's available for that ship-type. I could also go into how the hitboxes need to be different for each size of ship, and how there should be a co-op PVE version... But the reality is, that I really just wanted to post to Bret Hoffman how freaking thankful I am that GSF got made in the first place. With not too much of a stretch, you can make some amazing ships and have extremely dynamic battles. Yes, it takes the community to not lopside it really bad, or to bully people, but the reality is that GSF is very very good. It was an extremely bold and brave idea to make some kind of PVP that didn't rely on ingame level, and it pulled that off amazingly. It was skill-based, which a lot of people appreciated. I know with just a few small tweaks, GSF can continue being amazing. Thanks again so much Bret Hoffman. I really mean it. GSF is something to be extremely proud of. Thanks for hanging in there with us, for us.
  15. I see the absolute biggest issue to balance being when someone gets their feelings hurt by a gunship, and gets on a gunship themselves. This causes a cascade-effect of it being a giant gunship v gunship battle instead of GSF. This isn't the end of the world to me, because I have a great gunship, but I know it irks A LOT OF PEOPLE! Causes lots and lots of people to ragequit. I would limit the amount of gunships to two per side, and would probably limit bombers similarly. Funny thing is that bombers actually have multiple counters, people just refuse to use them. Also a second, lesser issue, is that people just sack their ships after they're out of missiles. Nobody with bombers ever does missile reload drone because it's easier to sack a ship and restart. I would rework the missile reloading system. Third thing, less of an issue. The bombers are so slow, it'd be awesome if there was a way to have someone tow the bomber around. I'm not trying to invent new ships here, although a tow ship or whatever would be awesome, or to be able to sacrifice a move to have disposable boosters once per round like the movies have detachable hyperdrives on them or whatever. I know bombers speed/mobility is supposed to be a balance, but on Denon it takes like two full sets of engine energy to get anywhere. If you're getting auto-nuked as soon as you get close, but need a bomber in the area, it really sucks. Yes you can have people open warpgates nearby but then you're talking about someone else having to sack a point for that, similarly to the missile recharge drone. Some of the synergies work in the game, like the communication network thing, but I think the little warpgate and missile recharge drones are cool in design, but in game, rarely are effective. That's mostly because people have to sack a very important point to choose them. Neither are particularly that much of a gamechanger. Hope this makes sense.
