  1. Be easier to just call it George. Nice rant BTW. I do find funny how you use so many things that are required to keep an MMO afloat as weapons against said MMO. Especially the word "monetized". Funny that, a business that wants to stay in business and earn a profit would actually charge you money for stuff. How dare they do such sensible thing.
  2. Life? I've never hear of that server. Is it an overseas one?
  3. And while those two things are opposed to each other within the argument neither address the most important part of the equation: What Bioware can actually give.
  4. Pretty sure you are wrong there but since you mentioned it I believe that the financial status of SWTOR is in the red and it is the sole root of recent events. If you think all of this isn't motivated by lack of money then you're insane.
  5. Chill out, I was just being silly. I am all for solo content but if future content is designed with meaningful multiplayer requirements or specific rewards for doing stuff in groups rather than solo (besides higher rated gear) then I'd be inclined to group more.
  6. Yes, god forbid they have any multiplayer in a massive multiplayer online game, huh?
  7. Well, it seems pretty clear that the current subscription base and the cartel market aren't enough to keep this game at a high level. PvP and GSF have been neglected for a long time, space missions have been completely abandoned (but no loss there), tons of bugs/glitches that do not directly affect gameplay (and some that do) remain unfixed, and the devs struggling to push out new content. It is my opinion that SWTOR as a business already has its head under water and the LvD event may very well be Bioware's last ditch effort in increasing the player base. If this event fails then this game will die. For SWTOR to get better, as opposed to just tow the line as it has been doing for the last year, the LvD event needs to be an incredible success to have any major impact. If it's only a mediocre success then SWTOR may stay afloat, but with the same issues it now has. Of course this is speculation as I don't know the financial state of the game, but Bioware has done little to hide the need for better income with their recent push of subscription based promotions.
  8. That is definitely a valid point. It would be a downright shame if future content required an LvD character to participate. Maybe an LvD specific heroic or two will be okay, but that's about it.
  9. Oooh look, another "I've been doing you a favor by playing your game so you owe me" post. If i had a dollar...
  10. MEMES only work if there's some level of truth to them...
  11. You are under the assumption that Bioware has the capability to do more right now. Open up your eyes. They've been cost cutting since before KotFE. The last several months have been nothing but an aggressive pursuit of bringing in new subscribers. Mum and dad had to spend all their money to keep the electricity going so you'll just have to play with all your old toys for now. Life is like that sometimes kiddo.
  12. You are literally asking them to give you something for doing absolutely nothing.
  13. Man, all this selfish whining. "a big middle finger" "a slap in the face" "loyalty means nothing" "all that work wasted" "I've been here since day one...I deserve more" "I've already done all that, just give me the rewards because I don't want to do it again". That last one is my favorite I think. I never got any reward for getting good grades in school, but many years later my parents decided my little brother needed an incentive to try harder so they gave him a generous amount for anything above a "C". I wonder just how pathetic it would seem if I decided to go up to my mom and ask her to give me the same rewards retroactively. Probably real pathetic seeing as I am in my 40s. Same principle applies here...you deserve no more and no less than what you already have from your time invested. None of you started this game going "I'm gonna be a subscriber for 5 years because I just know I'm going to get a big bonus for being such a loyal customer!" Get a grip. You've done what you've done and got what you deserve. No more and no less. You also have the exact same opportunity to earn the rewards as everyone else, nothing has been taken away from you. Some of y'all are acting like they're gonna wipe your characters out of existence. Others acting like there's never going to be any thing new in SWTOR ever again. Then there are those who want something for nothing. I've never seen such an incredible level of entitlement in my life.
  14. Well, I am not suggesting you be quiet about it, but I sure can't think of a way to make some noise that doesn't come off as constructive. People are pissed and I think they have some right to be but there has to be something beyond it or there will be no happy ending for anybody. You can ***** and moan all you want that you aren't getting your way and all it may leave you with is that taste in your mouth as the game closes it doors. This game (I believe) is on an event horizon and if this LvD event doesn't succeed then SWTOR is going to fall into the black hole (and possibly come out the other side as KOTOR III). Ultimately, if you are a vet and you want to save this game you have to want the LvD event to succeed and will do your best to help it do so. If Bioware is unable to compromise then it's up to the rest of us to do so if you truly want this game to get better.
  15. What has Bioware done over the course of the last several months that would lead anyone to believe that they are even close to having an ideal scenario? I'm sorry, I know it sucks for vets but it's time to start accepting what Bioware can do instead of telling them what they should do.
  16. Oh, so all the vets are making the game enough money so that they don't have to cater to new players? The vets are generating enough income for Bioware to not have to cut corners and trim down the quality of content and not completely ignore most other aspects of the game? Well, geeze, they must all be living in mansions now because the game sure isn't seeing all this grand financial success you seem to be giving it.
  17. You're right. It doesn't matter to them right now, and it shouldn't. It shouldn't matter you either because it isn't your loyalty or subscription that's at stake, it's the existence of the game that is. The vets got the game to this point but your loyalty and time served isn't carrying the game anymore. It's time for new blood to step in and carry the game. If they don't then you aren't going to have a game to play anyway.
  18. Whether you like the idea of this event or not EVERYBODY should hope that the event is a successful one. It's painfully clear that SWTOR is going broke and Bioware needs money and to get that money they need players and this event is specifically designed for that. If this event doesn't work I'd be willing to bet we're gonna have to move to another game by Christmas. Now, I feel what all the veterans are complaining about. It pretty much is a raw deal for them, shunning new and interesting content for them in favor of sweetening the pot on old content for new players. Unfortunately, for all you long term vets and die hard SWTOR fans you will have to learn one simple truth. Get ready, because it's an ugly truth, but a truth nonetheless. Your loyalty really doesn't mean squat. It isn't because your loyalty isn't appreciated. It's isn't because the developers don't care. It is ultimately because your loyalty isn't enough to keep this game afloat. You can preach and petition all you want with your "I've been here from the beginning" and "I've been subbed for 3 years straight" but you loyal, die hard fans aren't enough to help Bioware make bank. So there you have it.
  19. Makes me feel bad for the players that may miss out on the events due to work and such. I always used to miss events regularly because work always had me on the road at those times. At one point I missed the entire Valentine's and Halloween holiday events in WoW 2 years straight because of annual work road trips.
  20. I have a GTX 970 and I had a similar issue a long time ago, but really couldn't tell you what fixed it. I was on Win7 then but I am on WIn10 now.
  21. And how is everybody going through all the story content and other requirements for the LvD "event" going to prepare anyone for this "whole new tract"?
  22. First, the new comers will explore the old content once KotFE is over and they have a lull until next expansion if they aren't already doing so between the chapter release schedule. Second, the new comers are doing the KotFE content along side the vets plus they get the LvD incentive which isn't a turn off for them. The bottom line really is that vets aren't granted an equal incentive that fits their level of play. They should have an equal opportunity to earn the same or better rewards on a level that accounts for what they've already done while giving them something new to do. Telling vets that they have to go through something they've been through several times already to earn the same rewards as players who may be completely new to the experience isn't necessarily unfair, just shortsighted. Anyway, all of this is irrelevant to me as my sub ends on July 5th and I won't be renewing until KotFE is complete and I can come back and finish it all. I just understand the grief by the long term vets and think they deserve better.
