  1. "Read my lips: No New Taxes" "I am not a criminal!" "Life is like a box of chocolates" "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?" "I did not have sex with that woman." How am I doing so far?
  2. Well, for all the poor coding and scripting this game has there's a slight chance you might get them anyway just because of bug. Hey, it could happen! It probably won't, but it could!
  3. It's been tedious for vets for awhile now hasn't it? So with or without this event the tedium continues, yes? If they give vets all the rewards retroactively that still doesn't cure their tedium, does it? As for overwhelming new players? Yeah, some aspects certainly, but it's not impossible. I know I'll never get top tiers. I've played this game on and off for 4 or 5 years now and I've never done a single operation and avoid PvP at all cost.
  4. <takes a drink> Yep, it's been a standard for years and it works, so why should this be any different. Most of this boils down to "OMG they're doing something for new players and not for me, waah! Me, me, me, me ME! Why isn't there anything here for me?" Kinda sorry about the last sentence there, but this drinking game has got me drunker than I have ever been...
  5. For it not being the discussion here you sure put a lot of words into it... As for the "we as a community" posts the "we" part will be treated with irrelevance by staff anyway. Just because someone in a post says "we" I'm pretty sure that the staff members won't include me in the "we" if I have haven't specifically put my own opinion out there. So it's kind of pointless to argue either way.
  6. A very narrow minded view if all you are doing is using the state of this game as the sole method to measure their gaming experiences.
  7. I'm not trying to guilt anyone into anything. I'm not even suggesting that veterans participate in the event in the least. In fact, I think veteran participation in this event is irrelevant to its success so long as veteran subs stay somewhat level. A massive of exit of veteran subs may have an effect, but not lack of veteran participants who choose to maintain their subscriptions. In fact, if you have a standing subscription for the next 4 months or so then it doesn't matter what you do, your money has already been tallied. And yes, if this is indeed an "all or nothing" scenario for the game then it most likely has come about because of mismanagement or mix/maxing the profit margins or some other shortsighted display of ineptitude. However, if you want to keep playing this game in the future what can you do other than hope this even does what it's setting out to do?
  8. I honestly think that it's by design that the majority of the light/dark balance will be decided by the people going for the top tier rewards.
  9. Then why are you here arguing about it one way or the other? For me, personally, whether this event is good or bad I see it as a last ditch effort to keep this game alive by the devs. Everything else is irrelevant in my eyes. Though as some have suggested elsewhere the game could already be doomed and this event is just a set up to send it into the abyss in a blaze of glory.
  10. This event is simple to defend; SWTOR needs it to work. If you want SWTOR to get better, this event needs to work. If it fails, SWTOR will most likely have its plug pulled. If it is successful on a mediocre level, SWTOR may go on, but it probably won't improve. If you want SWTOR to get better then this event needs to be a smashing success. Yeah, it's a bitter pill to swallow but Light vs Dark may just be what makes or breaks this game. So love it or hate it you better at least hope it succeeds.
  11. Being a hypocrite doesn't automatically make you wrong. There is no freedom of speech of any kind on a private board such as this save for what the owners of the board grant you. None of us have any rights to any of this, it is a privilege given to us (and that can be taken from us) at the sole discretion of the owner for any reason whatsoever so there is no hypocrisy here. As for censoring? I merely demanded he keep his word and go silently protest as he said he would by ignoring everything that has to do with this event. I assumed he also meant all discussion of it on the forums.
  12. You obviously don't have a clue what freedom of speech means then dude.
  13. Well, this game has been notorious for failing to acknowledge achievements in the past, no reason to expect otherwise now. It will be interesting to see if, at the end of the event, there are people who haven't been awarded a certain accomplishment or two they did and therefore don't initially get their proper rewards. I mean, I'm STILL waiting for my Legendary Player acknowledgement even after two patches that "fixed" it.
  14. Same tired argument. Give me stuff for doing nothing. Just because they're going to give a bunch of rewards to people who do the requirements now does not mean you are entitled to those same rewards because you did the stuff back then. They put the rewards out there and told you how to get them. You want 'em, go get 'em. Otherwise take your "time and effort" elsewhere.
  15. Oooh, I'm curious now too. I haven't seen that before but it sure is purty...
  16. Players are saying they have/will unsubscribe. That doesn't mean they actually have or will and that doesn't mean their unsub has an impact. If I have 4 months left on my subscription unsubbing now really has no effect so it's not really a "I stuck it to the man" moment. Besides, I bet most of them are back for new KotFE content as it drops. Pretty sure they weighed in on the ups and downs. My bet is they've already tallied the number of new subs versus subs lost and it's an acceptable ratio. Of course projections and actuals rarely meet dead on, but if LvD really does generate a bunch of new subs like it's supposed to then people who leave now will come back. So your guild would rather go back to playing the same content there over and over than playing the same content here over and over. There's such an overwhelming amount of logic in that the logic center in my brain just exploded...
  17. R2-D2 has more important things than LvD on his mind
  18. Yeah, but it was just a comic..it could be taken as just a joke...
  19. Don't ever get into Diablo III then. Is that a real thing? Is there really gonna be HK-55 Underoos?
