  1. I had zero problems on coruscant. In fact it was far better than Dromund Kaas as i see it. The missions were more tightly packed into their areas where it was far easier to move from one end to another, completing all missions along the way and then handing them all back in, in one go. Clearly you're just not approaching it from the right attitude.
  2. As a previous poster said, if you spent a 'whole months' paycheque you are either a: 1-small child... in which case we don't have to care because you obviously have no experience with how the real world, computers, games, etc actually WORK or... 2-old child.... because no one in their right minds takes a whole month to earn £50.00 AND then complains about having to download a game BEFORE they play it. On a side note, if you had bought a hard-copy it would have been much faster, especially since activation codes are included IN the box. Further more, The information requested is standard to ALL MMO's. And if you think downloading ToR took a while you obviously NEVER played WoW. LotR-OL probably takes a little bit less to download but its far less information being downloaded as well. TLDR: Grow up and stop complaining.
  3. Sometimes my mouse dissapears. I just hit the 'windows' button on my keyboard then re-click anywhere on the ToR screen to re-show it. You could try that.
  4. I would also like to point out that if you're a DPSer, unless your doing 'hardmode' flashpoints it shouldn't really matter too much if your a LITTLE bit on the slow side. So you could always work to finding a nice good-natured guild who would be willing to show a bit more patience with your typing, reading dialogue, etc. I know i personally wouldn't have a problem with it unless you were a healer/tank, where speedy reactions ARE required.
  5. I leveled as immortal, lvl 41 at the moment and i refused to use any other companion APART from Vette until i got her to 10k affection which i did around level 36.... and i only had to channel every time when i was facing multiple strong mobs in every group. You remembering to use all your survival CD's, etc?
  6. Judging on feedback i've read thus far, the Assassin appears to be the most 'underpowered' of the three tanking AC's available. Simply put, the assassin CAN tank, but the Jugernaught AND Powertech seem to have the better variety of tools and capabilities available. The 2nd poster i believe also forgot to mention that aside from Force Choke you also get saber throw which is a BRILLIANT rage builder. One of my favourite combos if i am getting rage starved is to use Force Push to knock an enemy away, follow up with a saber throw (builds 3 rage) THEN Force Charge to build another 3 rage. It also deals reasonable damage while doing this! TBH i do LOVE my jugernaught. Its a bit nasty if you've got DPS hitting multiple targets as your AOE damage is RUBBISH!... but i've had little problems holding threat on e.g. 2 targets at once if they are both coming under a lot of damage... and can easily speed-build threat using backhand/force scream and revenge hits.... However, i would NOT underestimate the Powertech (bounty hunter). Their ability to generate 'mass' threat through their various AoE attacks is amazing! Especially at the lower levels they really do beat the Jugernaught in EVERy arena except for possibly survivability CD's... and even then its a close call.
  7. I know but my point is to highlight to people saying that the GCD allows equal speed between keybinders and clicking IS wrong, because to be able to select numerous targets (VERY important among healers/tanks without macro's and mouseovers) AND use abilities that are outside of the GCD, Or simply to use abilities when you have a very wide range of them (for example i've filled out both bottom action bars AND those on the right hand side) results in a keybinder being able to act faster than a clicker. Further more, the longer the fight, the easier it is on the keybinder because they don't have to focus as much on individual parts of the screen to 'guide' the mouse to the ability icons. This, again, results in less stress on both your brain AND your eyes... So actually keybinding its better for your health if you play quite a bit. But back to OT, if anyone looks down on you because your a 'clicker', put them on your ignore list, they aren't worth talking to ever again.
  8. No offense, but if you're finding questing hard then you're doing it wrong.... I found solo missioing no harder on my sage up until 35 than when i was on my Jugernaught (dps specced). Why? Well for a start i could solo most heroic-2 missions because i could CC 1 mob, often burst-kill down a 'strong' mob quite quickly on my own and still keep my companion alive against at LEAST 1/2 gold mobs until he killed them. It could of course merely be that the Trooper companions are just not as good as the Sage companions early on but, tbh i've rarely come across anyone in game that says they've found leveling as healers really rather difficult..... BE MORE AGGRESSIVE!!!!
  9. Try interrupting one target while DPSIng another using a mouse to activate your current 'damage' ability, reselect to the new target, interrupt WITH a click, reselect your original target and then click the next follow up damage ability just through the mouse faster than a keybinder can... If all you're doing is standing in one spot JUST using GCD abilities on a single targer of course clicking/keybinds have no difference. However, its rare that you do that. You have abilities that don't work on the GCD AND you have to reselect targets while continuing an uninterrupted stream of damage IF you want to maximize your characters output/usefullnes. If you don't click you free up your mouse to be able to select targets at will, this reduces the workload on your brain in terms of having to co-ordinate your hand-eye co-ordination for mouse clicks and gives you more time to react to changes in situation which can have a noticable impact on your performance over prolongued periods such as in e.g. long PvP fights and/or pve boss battles.
  10. I have hotkeyed all my abilities with the exception of my CE flare gun and holodancer... Plus you've just pointed out you're NOT a 'clicker' because you don't click all your abilities. Hence clicking is, by your own admittance, not good enough for generating the best performance. TLDR: Summary, clickers are fine for learning the game. Got nothing against them because i USED to be one.... but keybinding IS easier once you learn how to do it and thats not something you can argue over UNLESS you've either got something like arthritus, etc i.e something that limits the ability of your hands to typoe multiple distinctive keys. Argument: Everyone keeps mentioning the whole 'GCD' thing... well EVERY class here has abilities that do not conform to the GCD. E.g. Revenge, interrupts, etc. You CANNOT click your normal rotation AND use these abilities. Therefore the statement 'i can click and do as well as any keybinder' is obviously a load of rubbish... because you cannot click 2 abilities at once. So you have 2 situations easy to describe where keybinders>>>clickers. 1-Normal DPS/tanking rotation. You're doing your rotation and either you get a 'procc' ability (like revenge) or an interrupt opportunity occurs. If you're a clicker you have to either continue your normal rotation OR use the procc ability which slows your normal rotation. POSSIBLY resulting in you missing the interrupt all together. As a keybinder there is never any such risk unless you fail to notice the opportunity, but THAT is a factor neutralized by the fact that the clicker has the same weakness. 2-Similar situation. You're fighting multiple enemies. The 'other' enemy is starting to use a channeled/casted ability. As a clicker you CANNOT continue your normal rotation, select the enemy, interrupt, re-acquire your original target and continue with your normal rotation uniterrupted. Its impossible because you use your mouse for all 3 of those things. A keybinder needs to only use his mouse to select targets, ergo he can do this. Simple fact.... a keybinder can reach a higher level of efficiency than a clicker, a clicker HAS to use keybinds to reach a similar level of efficiency and ergo ceases to become a clicker.
  11. Real question is... why would you worry about having to seperate for your 'class' missions? If there are 2 of you then you could burn through planets SUPER fast, gain more exp for it, and then easily solo your own class missions before meeting back up again to continue onwards. Plus as a pointer, you gain more exp, even for simple solo missions IF you're grouped (and you get social points), so theoretically its better to play in groups than solo even for normal leveling.
  12. dammit i was JUST about to say that...... BTW anyone know what the current 'cap' on legacy level is? level 6 at the moment and i am curious as to how high you cn get....
  13. meh i was lvl 34 on my sith warrior when i did it, and i didn't even do all of my last planet, but then again i AM awesome......
  14. I use the G13 gamepad, and out of its 22 'main' buttons i've got 12 of them bound with 2 different modifiers FOR those 12 bound buttons all filled up and i'm still only lvl 41 with some more abilities to learn.... and i really never have this 'press the wrong button' problem. I've used the wrong ability before, but that was because i was trying to use the wrong ability, not the wrong button.... In the end, a clicker is FINE for PvE. You can PvE heal/dps/tank absolutely fine as a clicker because you do not need to worry about keyboard turning letting down your performance AND pve isn't as 'fast paced' as pvp. PvP on the other hand..... you really cannot on any level reach higher levels of performance and still be a clicker with keyboard turning. So it really is in your best interest if you want to experience the full game 'to the max' to at least learn your core keybinded abilities without having to click. Plus it DOES make the game easier on your mouse...
  15. Pff, all about the logitech G13 gamepad. Granted its only 22 customizable buttons but because its not in a keyboard format you don't have to waste space with keys you would use to talk with! Granted you'll need to keep your keyboard nearby but meh. Plus you can assign shift, ctrl and alt to 3 of those keys, allowing you to mod the other 19, and the analogue stick i assigned to WSQE for movement to 'save' on space.
  16. For max lvling speed you have to : 1-get a group of 3 other people, ensuring you can do the healer, tank, dps, dps rig for heroics and flashpoints, 2-clear a planet, you get more exp if you are in a group! This mechanic is designed to actually encourage people NOT to 'solo play'... solo.... 3-always ALWAYS ALWAYS log out in a cantina for rested exp bonus. 4-do each flashpoint at least once when you're the right level, PLUS your daily flashpoint, PvP and space missions (until space missions get green, then ignore). 5-???? 6-Profit....
  17. i'd say instead... why rush? The storylines are brilliant, even the companion side stories are engaging and interesting. So why bother skipping them?!
  18. Well, the thing with THAT is that... no one in WoW who has played it for longer than 6 months usually USES the original UI in its totality any more. Hell i completely removed it, downloaded varies addons that i liked the look of, and built my UI from scratch using features i liked from other packages i had seen. The result? a far superior, more informative and, for me, easier to use UI than the original. Point is, because it allows modding, WoW UI is THE LEAST 'klunky' UI in MMO's.....
  19. Using the G13 gamepad i currently use 20 keybinds REGUARLY, as in at least once per 1-3 minutes, half of them at least once per 30 seconds, all depending on CD@s of course, and an additional8 on top of that which are situational..... AND I NEED MORE! So yes, actually learning all your keybinds can be midly difficult. But the key is to try and: 1-map them out logically, 2-map them out EARLY so you don't have to re-learn layouts as you level and, 3-Try to use similar layouts for multiple chars if you do play different chars often.
  20. I also find it hard to believe unless.... did you go to Taris?? Because that REALLY is the only way i could see why you'd now be struggling. I finished my class Mission for Chapter 1 at lvl 34 (and i've SKIPPED certain heroics and fp's), i finished Taris at level 37 and entered Quesh (due to space missions) at level 38. I've NEVER struggled and i've always been at least 1-2 lvls higher than my missions since i arrived on Korruban at lvl 14. So, as with other people here, if you've done ALL major missions, plus your bonus missions, plus bonus mission series, all heroics at least once AND each flashpoint as you level up at least once then i am sorry but either you are a liar, or you've missed a whole planet, because they are the ONLY 2 explinations for only being level 32 at the end of chapter 1. I've seen people ACTUALLY doing all missions in each zone (got someone in a guild of my char doing that) and by the time he finishe alderaan (remember you should be around lvl 32 according to the game) he was 36, by the time he had finished Taris he was 40... He does daily PvP and space missions as well btw.
  21. Nope, not kidding. Just imagine if EVERY TIME you wanted to buy something you had to 'confirm' whether you wanted it or not? It would, eventually, over an extended period just end up adding frustration to a basic process. Its a very easy mistake to make ONCE. After that its very simple, you learn that right click or ctrl right click buys items... where as ctrl left previews them. So what if you loose a few K's worth of creds? you should have realized very early on that right click buys items so, the only way you make that mistake is through lack of attention. The goal of every competent game should be to challenge its players, NOT to make it super easy and idiot proof... because if you make it idiot proof you assume your players are idiots, and if your players are idiots then anyone who ISN@T an idiot won't want to play the game any more because its too simple. I fell foul of this problem once, learned from it, and moved on. No big deal. By the way to the jawa complaining about the preview function not working... it does work, you just don't use it properly.
  22. hmm, it must only occur then if you out-level it by a significant margin, and i mean VERY significant. I've been at least 2 levels above the suggested level for EVERY mission i've done now since i left Korriban as a Sith Warrior, now level 38 and JUST finishing Taris (level 36 is the max end of that spectrum apparently). I also must admit i've never had a problem with any mission, ever, except for heroic ones of course. The mission 'assault on fort alde' i think on alderaan was a REAL ***** because not only were the groups themselves reasonably tough, but the respawn rate was NUTS and it was responsible at least twice for total wipes.....
  23. Since you want jedi that leaves either only Jedi Knight or Jedi Consular. Out of the 2 of those classes i wouldn't HONESTLY say that the Jedi Consular is the more forgiving of the 2, and out of the 2 AC's i would actually say the SHADOW not sage AC is the bettter option. Why? Here are the followng reasons: 1-Jedi Consular's first 'companion' is a nice tough tank that can take all the damage for you, leaving you safe and sound. It also makes a very good distraction while you run away if necessary. 2-Jedi Consular's gain an ability 'force speed' that allows you to temprarily 'sprint', again, another REALLY good escape mechanic for getting away from a fight and it helps you move around a bit faster! 3-Their force mechanic is very easy to understand and 'master' even on a basic level, they get some good AoE damage abilities for killing groups of weaker enemies and good single target abilities as well. 4-consular-shadows get STEALTH. This can save you a LOT of time when you don't want to fight enemies going from one place to another. 5-Because they can theoretically tank you gain access to abilities that radically improve your survivability, EVEN IF you decide to focus on the more damage-dealing aspect of the class. By comparison: 1-Jedi Knights gain a similar companion in terms of role, but i would say the Consulars' initial comp. is a better tank out of the 2 and ergo the better one to go for. 2-Having leveled a Sith Warrior Jugernaught (mirror of Jedi Knight Guardian) i can say its a bit of a button-fest. At the moment i have 23 buttons that i REGULARLY use mapped out to keybinds as well as a few that i click simply because i am running low on buttons, it is my belief that the Consular class does not suffer this quite as badly due to the way its abilities are clearer seperated. 3-Though the Sentinel DOES have amazing DPS potential, it pays for this with some serious survivability issues earlier in game. if you have a reasonable amount of MMO experience you can overcome this by getting used to the SEntinel DPS styles early on and overcome this, but it is not necessarily advisable for a 'newb'. For gear, do not worry about it. You are introduced to modding, orange, gear, stats required BY the game itself in steady stages. FOr crafting, Personally i went max crafting/credit gaining by getting slicing, scavenging and then Diplomacy for the companion gifts and LS points gain boosting. However, if you're going Jedi you basically would want to get 1 of 2 crafting related professions. Either Artifice or Synthweaving. Artifice makes mods, crystals, etc for your lightsaber, allowing you to power it up, and the lightsabers of your companions if they use them. Synthweaving on the other hand focuses on making armour for yourself and your companions. Remember that it focuses on jedi-styled armour. So you won't be able to make armour useful for e.g. troopers! When you look at each profession trainer you get a codex entry that tells you all about it and what would best go with it while in game. So go and explore!!!!
  24. I have the original ToR guide.... why? because i like the art work, i like having the 'complete set' of things AND its just fun to read!
  25. Pff, as a Sith Warrior i wish i had a single ability to spam :-( 7 abilities in my standard rotation alone.... not including the 10 situational ones i use at least once per minute.
