  1. /signed Why is this being overlooked-- seems like an easy fix.
  2. I am a solo queue pvp'r. I don't care about premades. I think that people who moralize about how it's unfair should really can it. If you are level 40 and you encounter someone who is level 12 in a WZ are you going to attempt to roflstomp them? Of course you are? Well think about that level 12 guy's fun factor. Pretty low huh? I mean come on--he likely doesn't stand a chance against you. Please-- PVP is supposed to be a competitive environment. That means willing people will group up and attempt to--- you guessed it, WIN. Now you are either unable or unwilling to group up. If you are unwilling then it's on you. Period. If you are unable, then perhaps these forums are a place to start to learn how.
  3. round and round we go /thread
  4. I am never grouped, and I completely agree with the OP. I don't love the analogy, because the complexity involved in preparing a football team, and communicating on the field of play is a lot more sophisticated than playing WZs with premades, but the point is understood.
  5. Greyfeld has very accurate debate logic, and it is hard to really challenge his position. I accept his point of view on not really owing the community anything, because impacting strangers' fun rather than his own is totally his perogative. Ironically, the pvp aspect of SWTOR exists because of the people who choose to play, and by being - seemingly - apathetic to how others feel, you are impacting the enjoyment of the very people who create the pvp community that you play with. I don't know if Bioware instituting a penalty from on high is the best solution. Rater, the community should police itself. Perhaps a stickied "wall of shame" where people can post names and screens of people who afk, or some way to make other players aware of the alleged behavior of certain players. Borrow fom the sports and fight game genres; institute a disconnect percentage and create a vote system, or maybe a queue filter system for matchmaking. For example: I enter queue and institute a filter that says you won't join a group where 2+ players dq% is higher tan X. Just stuff like that. There are creative solutions you can use to allow the pvp community to be heard. It would also provide legitimate metrics to track what people were filtering. Anyway--- just some brainstorms.
  6. This may seem counterintuitive, but if you have the ball and you sprint towards the enemy end zone-- and outrun your tanks, healers, and dps'ers, you are likely to die. If you get the ball, try to rally arou d your team. Additionally, your team should rally around you. Don't do all the wild west nonsense and waste your time dueling. Unless of course you don't care-- then duel away.
  7. I don't always agree with Lazorus, but logically speaking he is a superior communicator to his adversary. As for imbalance in the factions-- my personal experience in picking a faction had nothing to do with PVP. I picked because the idea of an agent in the Empire seemed awesome. Seemed like it would have been a compelling story. I don't really know how often people like me become pvp'ers, but I do more pvp now than missions. Even when I make alts it seems like I land in the Sith faction, and I am forced to ask why. Hmmm... I think because when I think of the "republic" I think of a bunch of Jedi and politicians running around talking about serenity and peace. Conversely when I think of the Sith and the Empire I imagine a much more vioent, treacherous, and conflict-ridden story. I think a third faction focusing on the fringe elements of Star Wars would have been perfect for me. The nitty-gritty of Hutts, smugglers, bounty hunters, and blasters-for-hire. I bet this would have made republic players non existent though. I would be a republic player if I felt like I was being oppressed by a tyrannical super power (ala original films), but I just don't get that from the republic storyline.
  8. The OP makes some good points, and his approach to debate is founded in good logic. Equality has nothing to do with competition, but creating a game in an attempt to attract people who are willing to part with their money will ultimately cause a company to embrace as much equality as possible. Being an underdog, in my opinion, is fun. Just as it is fun to sometimes be the “king of the hill”. I prefer a variety with variations that fall somewhere in between. Expressions of preferences are certainly tiresome. Having been “knocked back” numerous times during Huttball, I have come to find Huttball MUCH less enjoyable. It would be silly to rattle off why (I think) it’s “broken” or “op” or whatever else I want to label it as. I have to decide if I want to continue to play Huttball, knowing that this is something that will continue to happen until I alter my play style, or avoid the game all together. One question though— What is class balance? How is it quantified, and can it be logically explained?
  9. You guys rock-- thanks so much. The assassin is so cool, let's be honest, I mean who doesn't want a double-ended ls? BUT----- I get my stealth jollys from hidden strike as is. I think the Jugg will be a nice change of pace for me. I think I will do that. I really appreciate the perspective. Cheers! -D
  10. I'd like to hear some thoughts out there from the always helpful community. I currently am leveling a concealment Operative (main), and I am looking for an alt. I thought Sorc would be cool until I saw the overwhelming population of them on my server. So -- best tank class? I'd prefer a lightsaber class, as I it would be new for me. Thoughts?
  11. Excellent analysis, but largely more complicated (or perhaps long-winded) then was necessary. A simple equation of value is this: Currently my monthly fee is worth less than emotional state playing the game engenders. So I will continue to give Bioware my money until I feel otherwise. Assuming you have other interests in your life, which I personally do, I don't place the value of Star Wars up against things like going out for drinks, hitting up the occasional movie, going to the gym, and maybe picking up a toy for myself once in a while. Should I have to evaluate my finances, then of course I have to make decisions as to what stays and what goes. If that time comes I will simply apply my above formula with slight permutations based on what I am looking at.
  12. That's a great point. Now that you mention it I have been taking the commendations on the grays when I do them. Thanks for all the responses. -D
