  1. So those of you whining about it can just stop while you're ahead. I have the solution you are looking for. A solution you can start working on RIGHT NOW. Read on.

Whenever a game injects a PvP stat associated with varying levels or "tiers" of gear with greater amounts of said PvP stat you will never, I repeat, n-e-v-e-r... attain equilibrium. The only people this system appeals to are pretenders. Those people who don't want a balanced experience but instead a consistent advantage over anyone else they can get a leg up on. Think about it. That's all it really is.

You're not going after that gear for it's looks. Please, have you SEEN the equipment designs? It's like Harry Potter meets Mortal Kombat. When a new set is released the only thought going through the minds of those gunning for it at the get go is, "I *HAVE* to have this so I can pwn some noobs." or, to a lesser degree, "I *HAVE* to have this so I dont' get pwned like a noob".

It has nothing to do with the spirit of competition and everything to do with ease of play and a desire to have an advantage that hopefully others will not. There is, quite literally, no other excuse for such a system. BioWare and other MMO developers understand this desire and exploit it to perfection; keeping the hampster wheel ever turning.

So, to those of you feeling said frustration I offer you a very simple solution which will net you the results you desire when you desire them in a fraction of the time and infinitely less frustration.

Step 1: Roll Republic stealth class (this is key).

    Step 2: Get to 50.

Step 3: Buy your recruit gear.

Step 4: Head to Tattooine, Hoth or Voss. I find these are the best zones to have fun in. Belsavis is so so.

Step 5: Proceed to gank, terrorize and annoy every sub 50 you see.

Step 6: Buy GW2 or similar PvP oriented MMO and play that when you want an actual competitive PvP experience.

Since neither game requires a subscription you can satisfy both urges at a whim without any further monetary cost to yourself. You save yourself the headache of the never ending hampster wheel and sate your desire to "pwn noobs" as often as you want with the exact same ease as you would running a geared premade while pug-stomping. No hassle. No mess. Exact same outcome. Time saved? Immeasurable.

The key here really is rolling Republic. Because the opportunity to gank Imperials is endless thanks to population disparity. Depending on time zone there is no end of targets. Also, thanks to being a level capped stealth class, you have the luxury of avoiding those pesky reprisal attacks from PvP geared 50's. Pick your fights as often as you want when you want with the same gear advantage weight, you would be on the receiving end of, if you were to begin the hampster wheel that is TOR queued PvP.

TOR "PvP'ers" (note the quotation marks) retain their beloved wheel of pain, you get the same satisfaction they do with 1/10th the effort and the ability to queue for *real* PvP in a mechanically crisp responsive environment, unlike TOR, whenever you like and the forums stay clean for "important" posts (again, note the quotation marks).

With this system there really is only one downside. Having to level a new 50 through the god awful abomination that is the Republic story line. If you can stomach that atrocious level of human stupidity that BioWare calls "writing" then you're golden. I find dripping hot wax into your eyes while spamming spacebar and 1 consecutively and blasting dubstep in the background helps a little. In the end it will be worth it.

To the pretenders who rage about this post: I won't be reading any responses so have at it. I'll be too busy ganking me some noobs to care.

To the real PvP'ers disappointed with TOR: You're welcome. Hope to see you queued up elsewhere.

    /peace

  2. I fully support doing away with Expertise or normalizing it across the board.

When you remove gear from the equation all you have left is player skill, class balance and hardware. Every *TRUE* PvP'er should be excited about this upcoming change. To see so many people complaining is just a sign of how few real PvP'ers there are left in the community. You should embrace a leveled playing field. Not condemning it.

Now, if they could just fix the damn responsiveness of TOR we'd be in good shape. As it stands GW2 blows TOR PvP way the **** out of the water. I would like that gap to close and this is definitely a step in the right direction.

  3. I'm really not digging the whole "forced into PvP situations in order to experience PvE content".

To be specific, the HK-51 series. Here's an iconic KOTOR character that people have been begging for since development actually began for this game. You *KNOW* people are going to want this thing. And you decide to content block it with PvP situations. I mean, I would understand if it were a PvP oriented reward. I get that. I'm not complaining about something like that.

But this is a companion we're talking about here. There are those of us who have completely avoided PvP and then there are those of us, like myself, who simply aren't that good at it. I mean, I'm decent. I do ok. I'm no pro gamer though and I'm certainly not good enough to go head first against a group of Imperials who are literally blocking the path into the zone now for 2 nights in a row. Or the 3 guilds who have been cycling in and out camping the Jawa.

    This is getting ridiculous.

Again, I don't want to infringe on PvPers, their gear, their progression and certainly don't fault them for doing what they're doing. I mean, hey. It's all fair and I won't bag on them for doing what they do.

I am however disappointed in BioWare for putting this kind of content blockade into the game. At least for such an iconic figure like HK. Anyway. Glad to see some of the changes that have been made in my abscence. Just wanted to voice my concern about this little bit.

    Thanks for reading.

  4. My sub has been cancelled.

I'm sorry but SWTOR is just not the game it *could* have been. Perhaps in 5-6 months I'll revisit and see if any progress has been made to bring SWTOR up to par but, as the saying goes, it's my time and my money... I'll do with it what I so choose.

It's been stated that in 1.2 changes will be made to stats, diminishing returns and other mechanics. Because of that I'm sure most of what's in the Primer will be largely out dated. I have requested that the Primer be taken off of sticky. I encourage anyone out there that's willing to update and/or maintain it to migrate over what you will and request that it be stickied under your account. You can reference this post in your request to help expedite the transition.

I wish everyone nothing but the best and genuinely hope that SWTOR eventually shapes up to the MMO potential it has.

    Be good to one another.

  5. They changed it so that healing is supposed to count towards kills, right? Well, they do. At least on the score board. The problem is I've scored roughly 90 kills in the last two WZ's but only 3 of those "kills" counted toward the weekly.

Just wanted to point that out.

Anyway, ME3 just finished downloading. So I'ma get to playing that. You guys got plenty of time to get it fixed before I log back in again. Thanks!

  6. I just dinged 50 on my republic toon yesterday. I leveled almost entirely off of PvP and walked into the 50's bracket as a valor rank 50. I expected to get face planted a lot and for the most part I have been. But that's not what surprises me. What surprises me the most is how prevalent dropping out of WZ's is on the republic side of my server.

My main is an Imp on Anchorhead and while, yes, you do get a fair amount of deserters... republic... oh my ****-ing gawd... you get no less than 7 people who drop out of the mission before the WZ even starts and then have to deal with another 1/2 a dozen or so people dropping out in the first 2 minutes.

    It's absolutely insane.

I never understood where all this complaining came from regarding deserters until I hit the 50's bracket republic side on Anchorhead. Now I know. And I honestly don't understand why it's like this.

  7. I'm not saying Bacta Infusion is bad. I am, however, saying that's it's no where near good enough to be considered a 31 point talent. BioWare takes a strange perspective on Talent trees. Not all of them but most of them. Put all the really good talents towards the bottom and put all the "meh" talents at the top.
  8. I still say go Sage.

I, personally, would never roll a Sage. I'd sooner gouge my own eyes out with a spatula then play a dress toting Jedi. Or any Jedi for that matter. That aside though, Trooper is fun as hell and wouldn't trade it for anything; whether it's top dog or not.

  9. Nerfing Sage healers is not a solution.

    I think it is.

And don't hesitate, or be too proud, to ask for help from other MMO-making companies whenever you find it hard to know what would be the best course of action in correcting errors and balancing the game!

I almost **** myself from laughing so hard...

  10. The real question is why would you want to run around with a girly blaster when you can run around with a giant assault cannon?

I like using a Rifle for PvP because it helps disguise me.

People assume I'm a vanguard and I can't count how many times they've just ran right past me. The best camo you'll ever get. Of course, as others have said, you won't be able to use some attacks.

  11. or they could just put the damn roots onto the resolve bar...

Yeah, this too. Why is it KB's and pulls are subject to resolve but roots aren't? Snares... ok, I can see that. But roots? How the **** are roots not subject to resolve?

  12. I'd be happier if Resolve actually, you know, worked.

Everyone can have seven free stuns. No cost. Instant cast. 10 second cooldown. Knock yourselves out. Just get Resolve to ****-ing work damn it. I'm sick and tired of watching my Resolve bar dwindle away WHILE I'm stunned. That **** get's old real fast.

If I'm at Resolve cap, whatever ****-ing stun is holding me should immediately drop. I can't count how many times I've been at 3/4 resolve only to get stunned and gibbed from full to zero all the while watching my resolve bar drip, drip, drip away. That and rezzing and still being stunned in the spawn area.

Yeah, that never gets old...

  13. Currently a 31/8/0 Combat Medic. So this is pre-50 experience.

I average about 150k healing and about 100k+ damage in WZ's.

Again, average. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a lot more. If I focus healing I get about 200-250k healing a match and damage is negligible. This is all assuming I'm not getting focus fired like a mother ****-er. In which case I will push 150k but only if I'm seriously trying and a good chunk of that is being spent keeping my sorry azz up.

It all depends on the situation. If I'm solo or duo protecting a node in CW then I'm spending most of my time strafing keeping people from capping. I completely ignore healing because keeping that node from cap is more important than anything else. Same goes for the door in Voidstar. The moment I see someone trying to cap the door, that takes precedence over everything else. Or if we cap a door and the opponents are pushing in to disarm. Everything get's put on hold while I lay down as much AoE as I can until that door blows.

That stuff is priority #1 over all else. Most healers will keep on healing no matter what is going on. Trying to get those healing numbers up. To me, the objective is more important than any scoreboard. Oddly enough I get MVP votes out the yang when I put out damage and healing. People who dedicate heal will do more than I do but for some reason people still keep throwing MVP votes at me.
