  1. I agree that the server populations aren't stable, but I would argue that the populations are moving away from the low pop servers towards the heavy pop servers. At least that seems to be the case with my server.
  2. Many people aren't saying that the sky is falling, only that their server is dead or dieing. What's happening is the heavy servers are growing and the low pop servers are being abandoned. People asking for server merges / transfers aren't necessarily saying the game is failing. I happen to really enjoy the game, but my server is a ghost town and so I am forced to either reroll all my characters, continue leveling by myself, or quit. This is why I am irritated that the community managers keep closing threads and pointing people to this one. There are two different topics here: 1) those who think the game is failing 2) those who know their server population is low and/or falling and want mergers/transfers You can argue for point 2 without necessarily believing point 1.
  3. This is ridiculous. Why would people pay a monthly subscription to play to level 50 with only their companions around? I can just play Mass Effect (or most any other RPG) and get the same experience without paying a monthly fee. And I seem to have annoyed you. Tough. The low population problem is not going away, it's only getting worse. You can stick your head in the sand if you want, but it's obvious you play on a populated server and are not concerned about the issue. Ironically at the beginning of your post you attempt to call me out by saying I'm selfishly looking out for my wants when it's apparent that you are the one only concerned about your own experience. Guess what, I've already rerolled to a heavy server... and I still think it's a problem that needs addressing. So how is that me only caring about my wants? If you think the game is great with only your companions around I recommend starting a character on my server (listed in my sig). You should have a blast.
  4. You are casting an awfully wide net saying that everyone who created characters on low population servers 'whined about the queue times and demanded more servers'. My post history is with my name if you want to click it to check to see if that is a true statement. No, most of us had nothing to do with it and just chose to roll on non-queue servers because that's what Bioware wanted us to do by artificially raising the queue on 'full' servers. Also remember that at launch even these low pop servers were listed as 'heavy'. How exactly were people supposed to know which servers would end up being the popular ones? Bioware created the issue, and should do something about it before it is too late for many subscribers who don't have the patience to reroll.
  5. I'm very happy for you that your server is that full and lively. However many are not. Many people log into their server during primetime to see 15-25 people in the fleet with no flashpoints being created and zero activity on the market. How can you call these people trolls for wanting server merges so that they can experience the game the same way you do?
  6. Please merge or enable transfers. My server (listed in my sig) is basically unplayable for anyone who wants to experience the 'massively multiplayer' side of the game.
  7. It won't help. People will just continue to pile on the already heavy populated servers. I should know, I recently rerolled because my server (listed in my sig) is a ghost town. More and more people from these low servers are either quitting or rerolling elsewhere, which just makes the situation worse. All of you people who think 'it's fine' because you play on a populated server have no idea how bad it is on some servers. On Mind Trick I regularly see over 200 people in the imperial fleet, on the Defenstrator I usually see about 20 during PRIME time.
  8. I saw my server at standard once with 25 in the fleet. Something is very unusual about those descriptions.
  9. I agree, but it would basically be a lame way of dodging the bad PR from server merges. They need to do something, it is spiraling out of control on some servers. I started rerolling on one of the bigger PvE servers and the low level zones are full of people rerolling from those deserted low population servers. I fear by the time they even realize what's happening it will be too late.
  10. OP my server is similar if not worse. 15-20 people in fleet at primetime. 0-5 people off peak. I had posted a number of posts about it, but it does not seem to be something Bioware is concerned about. In the end I began the process of rerolling all of my characters, but I am not happy about it. Bioware made a mistake when they opened up too many new servers at launch, throttled the old servers, and directed people towards the new ones. Many of those new (at launch) servers are dead, and the play experience is not nearly as good as it is on the populated servers.
  11. Bumping this post is highly misleading since those 'full' servers are really some of the only ones I'd recommend to new players.
  12. I also don't think the game is dieing, I just think they initially made too many servers and the population has shifted towards the high pop servers.
  13. OP your server sounds like a lot of fun and I hope it continues to grow.
  14. One of my 'high pop' server rerolls listed a half dozen random things on the market last night. They all sold! I can't remember the last time something I listed on the Defenestrator actually sold to anyone. The difference in gameplay experience is immense. The low pop servers need to be fixed!
  15. This is absurd. I suppose because you can't see a problem it must not exist.
  16. Please see argument #3. Yes I could (and have started), but that doesn't mean the problem went away, it just means I don't see it anymore.
  17. See now this is an excellent idea! Don't close the servers, repurpose them for Australian use and transfer the people who wish to elsewhere.
  18. It's not just those options. If they don't merge and/or close the 'ghost town' servers they risk new subscribers accidentally choosing them and then getting horribly disappointed at the 'multiplayer' aspect of the game. As an update from my original post, I'm sad to say that last week I started the process of rerolling all of my characters onto a heavily populated server. It's incredible the difference. At any one time there were often more people on DK than there were on my WHOLE old server. Still I miss my old characters with all of their accumulated wealth and crew skills, and the whole time feel as if I'm being punished for something that wasn't my fault. People who have played on one of these 'heavy' servers from day 1 have no idea just how bad it is on these low populated servers. It isn't sharding, it isn't the fact that there are too many planets, it's that there really are too few people. I go to the fleet on 'Mind Trick' and there are constant LFGs, LFMs, and people chatting and zooming around on speeders everywhere. I go on The Defenestrator and it is dead silent, typically with about 20 people in the fleet and nobody around. If you don't believe it I invite you to log in and see for yourself, my server name is in my signature. I love this game and will likely continue playing it, but I would much rather continue all of my many characters I have played since day 1 than have to redo everything I had earned since then on a new server.
  19. I'm very happy for those servers. The server I just started over on is doing great too. My old server had 22 people in the fleet... friday night at primetime.
  20. Not exactly 'forum logic' when people are posting screenshots and /who census numbers for their low pop servers. You want to see for yourself, my server is in my sig. And I don't really care what is happening in WOW.
  21. There are a lot of things I am patient about in regards to this game. In fact, I have very few complaints about it. Having nobody else to play with on my low population server is not one of them though. People seem to think that, in time, the population will go back up when in reality over the past few weeks people have been leaving these low pop servers in droves. I should know, I'm about to be one of them.
  22. Yes, there are two alternatives. Reroll or unsubscribe. I don't think BW or fans of the game really want people doing the latter.
  23. I'm in the process of doing that, but something should still be done about these servers. Even if I leave, the server is still there and still barren.
  24. That's what it says when there are only 10 results to show. Edit: No it is not in a different instance, that's everyone.
  25. In my experience the Sith droid is far less irritating. In fact, that was one of the things that made up my decision on which side to play. It doesn't help that they forgot the 'droid filter' for some of his lines (particularly when he leaves/returns on missions).
