  1. I believe there is precedent with LOTRO. They began catering to solo and pretty much dropped raid development. I could be mistaken, but I believe this is the case.
  2. Yeah no reason to sub again till next summer, get all the chapters at once.
  3. Please no...keep tor separate from the JJ-Disney silliness.
  4. So you're volunteering to help run them through it? I mean...that's the solution. If you're really serious about preserving the community and keeping the game social. Or you could, identify these people as a group you don't belong to, point at them, exclude them, and predictably behave like most group content defenders on this forum. In case you missed it, I am not so subtly pointing out that the issue you are posting about is a situation where if you're not part of the solution...you're part of the problem. The choice is yours. FYI if you need help with this, send me a PM.
  5. Well it can't be an MMO, that doesn't exist. I think you mean MMORPG or sub RPG. It's an MMORPG. Still has Ops, PVP, GSF, Conquest, World Events, FPs, Rep Grinds, Seeker Droid loot hunts, Player Housing, etc....
  6. The perpetual MMO player-gating dillemna.
  7. Mine has too much...want mine? It grosses me out.
  8. I am more of a kitten man myself.
  9. Don't forget some self righteous try hard yelling at you for the bad they are standing in. Sign me up! That mode of play isn't tired at all! As Gus Tuno would say....WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
  10. please pass the dutchie on the left hand side
  11. *raises hand* I know! I know! Because, for the longest time Western RPG's were opting to run or continue their IP's as MMORPGs. This left RPG solo players in a lurch as their solo Western RPG options slimmed. This situation basically foisted Solo RPG players and MMO players that could care less about the RPG side together. Of course, there are some that enjoy both aspects, yay us. Luckily that trend is changing with a slew of good Western RPG's releasing out there as solo experiences as the MMORPG genre begins to sag and the MOBA rises.
  12. Yikes.....that's some sad business right there.
  13. You're confusing tabletop and LARP-ing with video games. Most RPG gamers don't RP. A lot do, most don't. Diablo is a Action RPG....let me know how much RP you find in that game.
  14. RP has zero to do with the RPG genre. 2 totally separate concepts. You can make learning on the Internets.
  15. I am all good with ops telling a tale. As long as it's not part of the core story. Nothing worse than the intersection of real life and player-gating preventing me from seeing the conclusion of the story I paid to see. I was VERY pleased to see the story conclude solo. I am just one dude...but I hope to see that continue...only the metrics contain the truth.... I disagree with what you are saying though. MMO does imply grouping. RPG implies story, character progression, loot acquisition, and exploration. SWTOR is not an MMO. MMO's do not exist. SWTOR is an MMORPG. Now...the MMO or group aspect can be: GSF, PVP, OPs, FPs, World Events, etc... It doesn't matter as long as it's repeatable and enjoyable with the community. I think the rub here is...What MMO activity would be most appealing to the majority of SWTOR players that BW-Austin can sustain? I think they think they have the answer and that they are approaching it within the constraints they are beholden to. I don't think we'll have a full picture of what that is until early 2016 though.
  16. Incorrect. This game was marketed as an mmoRPG. This content cycle is just focusing on the RPG side of the equation. As far as the comment about the majority, I'll take my bets with the reaction by BW_Austin to their internal metrics as opposed to random internet guy xyz.
  17. ^This...Raiders always preach it's about the challenge and the carrot. Both are still there, I doubt most people currently playing cleared these Ops when they were relevant. Well they are changing the MMO content, and adding a little, such as Flash points. But mostly they are adding RPG content. The other half of the acronym.
  18. Once the community consists of a phasing pile of people each taking turn player-gating the rest of the community from chasing the latest tier carrot and not caring about anything else, community and anything having to do with gameplay withers away. See I can do it too! Except....neither will ever happen. Because both play modes will be supported, you're still getting your tier, you just have to wait a touch longer for a new map to chase it on. While you wait...you get more maps that are relevant challenge-wise if not dated map or instance-wise. Usually folks have to wait longer for story...the one time it changes the squeaky vocal minority squeals again. I for one am certainly glad that the folks developing this content pay attention to the metrics, and let them inform their decisions as opposed to knee-jerking to the "I quit! My way!" tantrum stompers of the interwebs.
  19. I do like personal loot systems. I know die hard raiders aren't into them because their is less control on gearing the raid as a whole for progression reasons. Personal with pugs tho....Drama mitigator...love it.
  20. I for one am happy to see the market begin to diversify. We are starting to see the neglected 'RPG' element of the MMORPG gain some traction in the genre. There are plenty of of MMORPGs (MMO's do not exist) that focus almost solely on MMO elements. I think this is a brave direction for Bioware Austin. Rekindling the relevance of old OPs is smart. Wow is doing the same thing with their aging dungeons. In any event, I hope everyone finds something they will enjoy with the coming content.
  21. Finally someone else sees it. Never understood the Boba Hype.
