  1. Hate to jump in and cut you off but that's what the players are going to do to SWTOR. It's done, over, forget it. Every game in recent years has made this EXACT SAME mistake. They have pvp issues early in the game's life, they OVER-***********-REACT and subsequently kill the game. We all may stick around for another couple of months but this game will be on life-support by mid-summer. This update is all most players need to see from the developer to lose confidence. Look at Warhammer, Rift and AoC...and those games actually had reasonably active world pvp for awhile so stupid people like me kept playing because that's so rare to find. World pvp in this game is non-existent. All we have are warzones and those are ****ed up beyond all repair. So even hardcore masochists like me won't stay around just for warzones with no chance of world pvp. I'm not even campaigning for any changes. I'm just saying SWTOR is going to follow the trend that other recent games have followed because they've already made the same mistakes. Big release, more fun leveling than at endgame, repetitive battlegrounds, balance issues in pvp, HUGE CONTENT/BALANCE PATCH, server merges, server closures, free to play, etc. Once the exodus starts you can't reverse it...and it started today
  2. Would be nice if everyone just geared up their pets with expertise gear and headed off to a planet to kill other players. That's probably the only fun we're going to have pvping at this point anyway.
  3. You actually PvPed on the PTS and tested this ****ed up patch? You're part of the *********** problem *******...
  4. Not even sure SWTOR is gonna eclipse Rift for me (6 months). I really find myself missing the pvp rifts right about now and wandering around looking for fights. We really don't know what we've got til it's gone...except in SWTOR, we know exactly what we got here...****ED
  5. I had 513k damage taken last night in a Voidstar. Hurray for marking healers!
  6. It seems to me that the proposed system is the most difficult way of doing things. You buy a set of armor, strip it of mods and put it in the armor you prefer. At least I hope I didn't misunderstand that. Why not have the armor shells (no mods) as vanity items based on pvp rank or rating that are bought with credits and have players just buy the mods with our commendations. You know...like we did for every other level except 50? I don't understand why we leveled one way (buying mods from vendors with comms) only to be forced down a really convulated path at level 50 (buy the armor, strip it of mods). Does that seem backwards to anyone else?
  7. The problem with CC in this game is the same problem that Rift had. CC isn't tactical, it's too "available". In a team setting there is no real penalty for casting CC at the wrong time unless it pushes the resolve bar to full. CC should always be tactical, it should make or break a fight. Right now we're missing the "break" part because poor use of CC isn't punished in most cases (huttball being the only real instance where a mis-timed CC has consequences). As is stands now any drooling ****wit can CC a target as part of a standard rotation with no tactical considerations at all. I'd prefer a better system than that.
  8. As long as the gear grind is centered on the warzones there will never be any open pvp to speak of. SHUT DOWN THE WARZONES, DELETE THEM...NOW Make players drop commendations/give valor EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD and you'll have a very active open world pvp system. Not sure why games keep making the same stupid mistakes. Their main pvp feature (warzones) is directly responsible for making this game a poor choice for pvpers. Right now it's just a pie eating contest where the reward is more pie
  9. Are you new to math? Consumables are just numbers and whether the medpack is reusable or not isn't the issue since they are also available in convenient single use applications that even stack in your backpack for you (whether you have biochem or not! wow, who knew?!)...
  10. No, it's just simple math. They can design an encounter for any number of medpacks, even one every 10 seconds if they wanted to...again, it's just math. Also, bringing consumables SHOULD be a huge advantage, that's what they're for.
  11. I've never seen such a complete, coordinated campaign to drive players away from a game. Usually you'll lose a few people due to class nerfs or some sort of crafting change but this patch has something for everyone to hate. Where was this work ethic when the game was being created? If SWTOR had been designed with anywhere near the precision it's being dismantled we'd be in a much different place right now.
  12. Why would you bring a Sage for healing at that point?
  13. You can either have battlegrounds OR open world pvp, not both. Open pvp was dead the minute they added battegrounds to the game.
  14. Are you referring to Diablo (May 15) or Guildwars II (beta invites going out now!)?
  15. Definite buff to Ops healing, not sure what this guy is thinking...
  16. Of course it's a waste of time, that's the point. It's another treadmill for players to jump on so they don't cancel. The entirety of the endgame is one big timesink. If they don't give you a list of chores to do they think you'll quit so they absolutely mean to waste your time. There was a time when finishing a character in an MMO was a possibility. At which point you'd go off and enjoy the endgame (usually open pvp all night every night). Games today aren't like that. They lead us around by the nose until we can't stand it anymore and finally quit paying them to waste our time for us. I really do miss games and developers who were confident in the worlds they created and were happy to let us run around doing our on thing without falling behind the gear curve.
  17. You can't have a game with battlegrounds AND open pvp. If you want SWTOR to be a really fantastic, legendary pvp game shut down the battlegrounds. After you do that get everyone on basically the same gear scale and add realm ranks (character progression NOT gear progression) that are gained by pvp. Now, make everyone earn their realm ranks OUT IN THE WORLD. Done...awesome game that will be talked about for years to come.
  18. Not sure where all this marauder talk is coming from...the most challenging class to play in PvP is a healer with a mark above your head. No one can claim otherwise.
  19. Not sure about the scoundrel but after playing an Operative to 50 there's just something wrong with the class as a whole. I enjoy healing as an Operative but dps play is just too clunky. There's no real flow so the gameplay feels very disjointed. Sure you could see a few big numbers here and there (not as much anymore though) but overall the gameplay isn't very satisfying in a dps spec. Twitch players generally flock to rogue types but there is nothing to be gained playing an Operative as a twitch player. In fact, as a moderately fast reflex player, I find the class very frustrating because there's no cooldown symmetry. I can only assume there are plenty of players faster than me who also have found this to be true.
  20. The open world pvp idea dies the minute they introduce rated warzones unfortunately. Forget about open world pvp, it won't happen.
  21. The leveling is usually the most fun part of mmos, especially on pvp servers. AoC, Warhammer and Rift all had a good amount of pvp while leveling (didn't see a lot in SWTOR due to faction imbalance I guess). The most enjoyable memories of those games I listed are all before the level cap. Once you're in the post 50 grind the game turns to a chore and I already have enough chores to do.
  22. How about making a game that's fun to play after you finish leveling so there's no need for a constant grind to retain subscriptions?
