  1. I'll share my two cents as a composer/producer with a lifetime devotion to music and arts. It's hard creating something and getting it shred apart in front you. Its hard to create something that "you" believe will be big and only to realize that people do not want something new, they want the same old thing until some sort of mega cultural switch occurs. It's hard to keep fans happy because the moment you change something, a very large bunch can't cope with it. You create a legacy, you're stuck with it. Not everyone is Harrison Ford with enough luck to quickly become something different than Han Solo. I'm about to completely tone down the intensity of one of my bands. That's right, from Death Metal to simply hard and groovy rock. For the last 3 months, members of that band have been scared of how our little crowd will react and to be honest, they are right to be scared. 45K fans on reverbnation is NOT a lot. When we first announced that our little underground band was going in a different direction, we lost about 500 likes and got a bunch of angry mails. When I write for my personal project supported by my close friends and partners in the business. I get to fully explore my imagination, my current emotions and state of mind. Over the years, we've learned to just trust each other and hope that it will produce something great. In fact, on many occasion it did but I'll admit we had a few miss. When I have to write music for someone or for my more commercial project. The first thing that occurs is "complete re-edit of the original idea". Sometime, it's a good thing but sometimes it's a bad thing. You get into a war of who's right and start politely fighting over ideas. Eventually, you make compromises so that things can keep rolling out. It doesn't stop here, it's part of the entire creation process from who's playing the solo to how the artwork should look in the end. Sure, I could let it go and just let some random well paid artist to create that cover but trust me, he will probably be way off my original idea. It might be better and I might have been wrong but the point is, I had to let go of something I loved. Do this enough time in a lifetime and you'll soon start hating the entire process. Now take a good man like Lucas and extrapolate what I said by a billion times. Mostly because I'm not the next big thing and I didn't make a legacy like Star Wars. For the last 30 years or so, part of his life has been a blessing and the other part has been drowned in critiques, fan rages, death treats, people trying to steal his money, bad press, laughs and such. No matter what he did, the legacy of his first movie over shadowed everything else. I loved the last Indiana Jones and for the record, I thought the fridge scene was simply brilliant, simple and fun. Why did people went nuts over that? Because we're slaves to fans and they only want one thing, the same old cheese that you once gave them. That's one example out of millions (in Lucas case) So now, he's retiring, giving the ropes to anyone suicidal enough to take over the franchise and he will be doing little movies for art centers. You know what, he's going to be a happy man and in my book, he deserves that. I will be more than happy to see his work outside of Star Wars on a smaller budget. It will have something to say and in return, I hope it inspire me. For the record, I worked on two star wars games over the past 10 years and I have to say... it aint fun at all. No matter how hard everyone in the team tried, it was one of the most intense and worse moments in my life. Even within the dev teams, people were acting as spoiled fan boys...
  2. My good friend Derek! It's been too long! I will gladly drop by and hang out with you guys soon(ish) I'll drop by soon
  3. You shouldn't have to worry about overheating if you're only healing. My buddy Operative and I did hammer us with our companions and it wasn't problem. (hard, tedious and long though) Control your heals and also, if you're playing as a healer, you should have Biochems and area heals ready for emergency... with all this combined, even at boss fights, you shouldn't have to constantly spam heals.
  4. Luke becomes the most powerful Jedi to ever exist. I think it's pretty cool that he doesn't even need to make a force choke gesture... just brush his hand and voila, job done. That's what I call ****** In a sense, it shows how much powerful the guy has become... dark too
  5. The expansion of the Star Wars universe was fantastic in the prequels. The lore itself was simply brilliant and I must add that games like Dark Forces, Jedi KNight, Kotor and SWTOR have been doing a superbe job on expanding and growing this wonderful modern sci-fi fantasy world. So what actually sucked in prequel? Aside from Obiwan and a few highlights, the acting was generally terrible. What made the original star wars so great was that each characters were very iconic. You wanted to be Han Solo or Luke, you wanted to be Leia and part of the Rebel alliance. In the Prequels, I doubt you see yourself as Anakin or worse, Amidala. Why would you want to be in the Jedi Council or a clone for that matter... it was cold and not as personal as the original. So aside from the amazing lore and visual presentation, you had nothing to keep you locked in the movie. Anakin in Clone Wars (CGI show) is much more interesting and fun to follow. You actually feel for the guy and get attached.
  6. I'll try to make sense of this. EVE is indeed one gigantic server divided in several nodes. There is no instancing in EVE. If you're in a "Instanced zone" and someone like me, flying a cover ops ship decide to scan you out, I'll find you and I'll warp to you. EVE simply picks a spot in space, generates the event and launches the player into it... Wormholes are the same thing, a random spot in space that allows one to go in and out... or in forever lol. (I've seen someone coming out a wormhole screaming "I"M FREE!!!!! I was stuck in that system for 2 weeks"...) EVE is a tactical game, most battles are based on preparation and well crafted plans. Lag will destroy the visual experience but the end result is; battles of unimaginable scale. You'll never get that from a game like Star Wars, WOW, Guild Wars, AEON, RIFT.... It's not the same thing. It's also why EVE is a niche market game. Only a small portion of the world has the patience to play a game like that. Yes, it's a great thing to be part of a sniper fleet with over 180 people flying their Sniperthron and Dreadnaught but don't expect that experience here in SWTOR. If you wish to talk about scale... One single zone in EVE is probably the size of every SWTOR zones combined and even so, I doubt it's even enough to compare the scale. However, in EVE, there's alot nothing in space and you can be flying for days in one direction and never encounter anything. I don't think you would like that here. If you fly a ship at 6000 meters per seconds, it takes about 45 to 60 minutes to hit a sector edge... and probably a good 2 hours to realize that you're actually looping back and forth lol. If you surf these forums, you'll notice people talking about range being about 30m and melee between 0-10m... In EVE we say 0-25 Kilometers = close range and snipers are usually from 180 Kilometers to 250KM. Yes, at 250KM, I am shooting a little red dot... to sum it up... EVE is a big game of Risk with pretty graphics. From the ground up, it's a completely different game on a completely different scale.
  7. EVE has over 10K zones, instances or space.. whatever you wish to call it. SWTOR has about a few hundreds at most. Not sure where you want to fit 1.5 million Star Wars heroes in those zones but it would be extremely painful - If the zones were maybe 50 times bigger, maybe you could squeeze in everyone on the same server but that almost means the game would only come out in 2019 AS someone mentioned earlier, EVE suffers from huge amount of lag and big fleet battles with 700+ people is worse than surfing the web back in 1994.
  8. Flare gun is great and actually useful in a way... Training droid is silly... why would I hotkey that training droid just so that it can fly around someone that I'm shooting at. Ok maybe if you're like 20 guys against one and you all get your training droid hover next to your target, you'll have a few moments laugh but as advertised, it's meh. Holodancer is neat but could be made to last a lot longer. Still, nothing really negative about it.
  9. I have a soft spot and if Meeko is around (which she's often not when we're not in a fighting situation) I will try to please her. Keeping her happy is part of his fluffy side... I'll kill and will take the job of the highest bidder but sometimes, someone can convince me to just be a plain ol'nice guy. Bounty Hunter is really interesting for this single aspect of the game... you're sailing in the grey areas between light and darkside. If you've followed the Clone Wars series, you'll notice how Boba Fett is not really evil at first...
  10. Back in SWG, I was among the rare Carbineers. I use to say the SAME speech as you guys. I was also young and probably stupid. I kept saying... Guys, Carbineers are for pro! I mean sure a Rifleman can kill 20 mobs in 5 volleys while I need to be buffed and use all my skills shots to get a kill on 2 or 3. (using top of line guns btw) I was actually praised as one of the best Carbineers on the server, taking down Jedis and all.. You know what? It was stupid and a waste of time. If you enjoy Marauder, great but don't go around thinking that you need X amount of player skills to be better. It's an MMO, not an FPS or League of Legends for a better comparison. I would say, it's 10% players skills, 30% gear and 60% game mechanics. If Bioware didn't balance marauders properly then that's what you get. Your extra 10% elite player skill might keep on top of the lot but the reality is, you're struggling to accomplish something that others call casual. If that makes you proud, be my guest. From the description of Marauders, you shouldn't be a tank but your damage should be among the greatest in the game. fyi: I love marauder just because their cool looking and all... can't say I like their actual role and I do much prefer my BH.
  11. I'll do it for a bunch of my guys... Revolution Industries crew is here on Corellian Run as Empire. Zag Zig Emenikan Teh-Blue Snoik Ama Deadbug (maybe) For those that didn't know us, our city was still standing 4 years later after we left. (ghost town) - We were a very big Rebel guild back in pre-cu.
