  1. Dump the Implants and Ear pieces and get you a set of the crafted 54's with Shield/Def/Absorb (ear piece has all three) They have less endurance than the BM or UW stuff but more defensive stats. Also I go all Absorb since that stat seems to have the Higher DR and you have to split the def point pool between def and absorb where as shield is on a different line. But as far as I can tell with gearing Def should be around 23-25% with stim for Arkanian and Underworld gear. Also look at this thread for a better view of stat splits http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=616779.
  2. Powertechs have always been the easiest to play tank. Sins the more complicated, though pre-2.0 less so than now. If you want a tank where you feel like you got more going on and your more active in the fight than just standing around holding threat I would go with the Assassin tank. If you are looking for an easier tank to start off with on a lower learning curve then go with the PT. Both are good tanks, both have their weaknesses and strengths, Neither is better than the other. I've raiding on both and I prefer my Sin over my PT.
  3. Do not stack endurance, get endurance heavy pieces with Shield/absorb/defense on them, but please do not go with endurance augments. They are not needed and it hurts you in the long run.
  4. Carnage didn't get nerfed, it's currently parsing higher than anni, it got more complicated in it's rotation is all.
  5. If you are a tank, no, accuracy doesn't do any thing special. As a DPS I think it depends. Most of a powertechs dam comes from elemental or tech abilities so accuracy isn't need for those. But for pyro Railshot is a big part of your DPS and relies on accuracy. Other than that I'm not sure.
  6. You want to be careful about building def past 20%, A big part of our threat is based on shield chance and if you dodge/parry your rocket punch won't refresh. As far as what to stack past the goals, keep stacking Shield/Absorb End is only good for extremely hard hitting mechanics which there is only one boss that hits hard enough to actually think about stacking End.
  7. You don't need accuracy at all as a PT tank, most of our threat comes from Tech or Elemental damage which can't be dodged, blocked, or parried. The only thing and I mean the only thing that gets a benefit from accuracy is rail shot and it's not even your top used ability and I have yet to see one get dodged or miss. I have poured over the PT tanking mechanics and accuracy is a wasted stat. End>Shield>absorb>def those are your top stats, aim is not worth mentioning because it comes on your armoring and mods regardless and doesn't contribute to defensive stats only threat. Also don't go over 15% def... it will hurt your threat in the long run. Sorry Olos, quoted the wrong person.
  8. I think you mean the Lekku, those aren't ears.
  9. The proc one scales with gear. So crit, power, surge all affect the proc dam, that is why it passes the flat power relic by. Also it's already been plugged into a DPS spread sheet and BiS relic is the internal proc one.
  10. Crit would be better at lower levels, I have no clue why but before level 30-35 very little gear comes with crit, it's mostly power. Crit in most cases is better unless you are getting near cap and since you are leveling you don't have to worry about that till 50.
  11. 4 buttons? I wish I only had 4 buttons to push for DPS. It's more like 6-7 and I have to watch buffs/debuffs to max DPS on top of still managing my heat/ammo. PT/VG dps isn't face roll, you want that go play rage/focus.
  12. There are a lot of "DPS" healers in the lower levels, which is why I refuse to tank lower level FPs. I also play a healer and get annoyed when DPS queues as a tank. It's a two way street with both roles doing it and making the other role struggle. As far as normal mobs beating on the healer, It's the tanks job to hold aggro on the more threatening mobs, silvers/golds/champs/boss the normals should be killed first by the dps which is why most tanks will maybe hit them with an aoe or default attack just to get initial aggro. But it's really the DPSs job to know the kill order and actually do it.
  13. I'm almost 100% sure they changed the way the armor debuffs stack. This affects MM snipers the most out of the 3 specs. So to say that Lethality was better pre 1.2 would require combat logs and nothing to have changed pre to post 1.2. Since this didn't happen it's not fact and just speculation. I will agree that lethality is the best spec, but if I remember correctly they said they forgot to factor in defenses to the Sniper dam equation which would assume that they will be adjusting MM and Eng DPS again. I hope they bring MM and Eng closer to Lethality since I loathe Lethality play style.
  14. Mercs and Juggs are the other 2 that I know of. We don't run with Sins very often and I never noticed them putting up a debuff for armor.
  15. Power does not suffer DR's Cunning does, well the crit part of it does, the power part I think is linear but if you go over to Sithwarrior.com they have a stat graph that shows the progression of each stat.
  16. Diversion is useless in Ops, Rapid Fire is useful if you know how to use it properly. Edit: BTW the Rakata Medic Bracers are better than the Enforcer bracers. IIRC the Medic bracers have 90 cun, 32 power. Also cunning and power don't convert the same. So adding them together like they are equal is not a good idea. Cunning to dam is .20 per point Power to dam is .23 per point So as you can see, when you are near your surge and crit goals/caps power is better than cunning
  17. On your hit chance is that 102% acc. on your paper doll or 102% on specials. The reason I ask is 100% acc. on your paper doll is refering to normal attacks mainly (IE rifle shot). You don't need that to go over 100% if you look at your specials it should say 110%, or in your case if it's just 1-2% from not even scrolling over accuracy 112%. This will free up some stats to stack power as well. For the most part as a DPS your MH weapon is your life line, what I mean by this is no matter how much or little your stats are you weapon is the biggest upgrade you can get. I try and get surge to 75% crit around 36-38% and over 1800+ cunning (at least thats where I'm at now currently). that with running 1/5 rakata, 2/5 field tech Champ gear (33% dam increase to Orbital strike is better than both the 2pc and 4 pc on our pve set) and Rakta MH/OH as well as the Rakata belt and bracers. As someone mentioned above, some times it's better to go with enforcer or medic items over our tech (some medic items have better stats than enforcer). The main thing is to know what you need and balance to that.
  18. If you are going to pvp at all and pve I would suggest you get the boots and gloves of the pvp set for pve. The reason is it's 2 pc is a bigger DPS increase than the PVE 2 and 4 pc. So you should look like this 2pc Champion Field Tech, 3 piece Columi Field Tech. If you can get your hands on some Columi crafted Ear pieces, Implants, and relics all of them are BiS if they have the augment slot... and iirc none of them are BoP on craft.
  19. Crit does have a diminishing returns, all stats except power have diminishing returns. What makes it look like crit doesn't is most of your crit comes from cunning and not crit rating. Crit rating caps at 30% (hard caps) crit from cunning or primary stat caps at 30% surge is not worth stacking past 75% (imho) the DR gets to heavy for to little gain. Power never ever suffers from DR's. THis is why at a certain point power becomes the best stat. From what I've seen it's around 40% crit and 75% surge. Accuracy is borked. I can sit at 95% accuracy or 99.9% and see no misses to any specials. the only thing that will see a miss is rifle shot which is such a small amount of dam it's not even worth mentioning.
  20. This may be true, but I have seen this solely depends on ops make up. Yeah Solo by your self no one around I would agree that Leth> MM, but now add mercs, juggs and other armor reducing classes and MM starts to pull ahead.
  21. Hey Tib, Thanks for all the hard work you've done so far. I'm having an issue with your Sniper spreadsheet and Relics/Adrenals. It's not allowing me to change them in any way, which I need to since I use only one activation relic and the adrenal I use is much better than the default one listed. Every time I try and change these it just tells me I can't change protected cells even though they are yellow. Also your rotation DPS calculator, is there any way I can get a better idea on how hot set this up right? Every time I start to mess with it my DPS "according to it" seems to go down, like it's not calculating CD's right or something. Edit: nvm Figured out the DPS rotation part.
  22. Laze>Shatter>cover>Snipe>FT>SoS>Ambush>FT>Snipe>RS>FT ect ect Everyone has a opening rotation, all you need to know through an entire boss fight is this, Keep SS up, Keep FT on CD. Snipe/Ambush every 3-4 sec. Every thing else is just filler. Use EP (Explosive Probe) and Orbital Strike on bosses as well.
  23. yep, my favorite combo that allows my resolver bar to mean nothing and keep me from being able to do any thing about it. SW/JK Force Charge> beats on your for 2 sec>force push> Force Charge>beats on you for a few seconds> Force Choke or stasis> by this time you are dead or almost dead. If you are lucky you have a CD up that can mitigate some dam or even get you out of the root to drop in cover and get entrenched off. But since the anti CC ability is so long chances are you have it on CD from 4 fights ago.
  24. People complained about this RNG loot system in Warhammer. They bring in Mythic..... and they do it again.... is anyone home upstairs?
  25. Crit is dependent upon which stat it's taking from the most. What I mean by this is cunning hard cap is 30% crit, Crit rating hard cap is 30% crit, aim hard cap is 30% crit. So essentially (though I would not advise this at all) you could stack 90% crit without talents or your buff. Now if you did this you would only have 90% crit to rifle attacks and 60% crit to every thing else since Aim does nothing for tech attacks. So unless you are a MM sniper Aim is essentially useless and only marginally useful as a MM. But regardless 60% is cap (no aim) before buffs and talents. Surge is only really worth it if you have high amounts of crit reason being is if you don't crit surge doesn't do any thing. Also it raises the fastest, but also suffers from DR's on a much steeper curve.
