  1. This game has always ran like crap on new comupters. The closer it is to top of the line the worst this game seems to run, or the more you have to tweek it. It's kinda sad really that we have to do this much work to play a game on a machine that should have little to no issues at all.
  2. There use to be one, SithWarrior.com, which named changed to MMO-Mechanics, But I don't think it's been updated much recently. a few threads here and there. also I'm looking forward to TESO pvp, I loved DAOC style pvp and from what I can tell this will be almost a carbon copy of it. Basically what Warhammer Online should have been.
  3. It is true, you are looking at a smaller insignificant number. I'm talking world, and with blizzards fail department unable to balance classes properly I highly doubt you will see a mixture of team makeup through the top 100 world wide beyond 2-3. As the old joke goes, WoW pvp is level each class to max level. Play what ever class got the least amount of nerfs or the most buffs, win!!! This is any pvp, world, Warzone, arenas. to say that this only applies to arenas just shows you really should get out and pvp more.
  4. It's a grenade, there is one that knocks you down and knocks you out of cover even with entrench/hunkerdown up.
  5. If the glaring problems where fixed that already exist in pvp, I'd say maybe. But I was there when Arenas where first introduced in WoW. I even did them for 2 seasons. And looking back on it, as the Op said probably the best time of the whole arena set up, I'd say no. The patches to balance Arenas broke PVE, Sometimes so bad that a boss you farmed for a few weeks became a pain which in turn created PVE nerfs which started the decline of challenge in that game. Also, with arenas it's less about skill than the strongest class combination. You can go look at the top Arena teams in WoW and almost all of them are the exact same class makeup. I don't know, with the way current pvp is and the total state of the game this is a huge gamble, and one that could kill the game as a whole, not just part of it. And I'd rather see them fixing bugs, performance issues, classes before introducing something that has a high probability of making matters worse.
  6. As far as I know it doesn't cleanse the last dots applied, but the first, so if I put IP on you, and you see instantly and cleanse it CD and CG follow really close to that which you now are on CD with purge followed by a EP by this time you MAY have your CD up, but it be really close and 9/10 times you won't get IP soon enough to nullify the extra dam cull gives from CD + CG.
  7. Actually no, if you run Hybrid you want to get the movement reduction on interrogation probe and use this dot first. The reason is most healers don't notice the second a dot is applied, second when/if you get all three dots on before they start purging you hide the two important dots behind 2 debuffs. This allows cull to not take a DPS hit, also if you take cluster grenades (I think that is what it's called) your burst in the 3 sec cull goes up higher than any other class in the game when you apply explosive probe before the cull. This has a long ramp time. but you can normally drop high priority targets in a matter of second or push them out of position where they can't support their team. And just to show what type of build I run here it is. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#400rZrI0bRRZGbbkrrokM.3
  8. DOts interrupt channeling? Other than the relics, they don't. Hell not even applying the dot breaks channel now. >.<
  9. And you just proved my argument, thank you. Go watch A New Hope again. Luke wanted to leave the farm to join the Academy, yet his uncle wouldn't let him because he didn't have enough droids. And I quote "wait till next year after the harvest. I'll have enough money to purchase more droids" hence droids where costly and Luke being a slave to his uncles needs was cheaper.
  10. So now you are arguing semantics, which was never the case. Yes sending a robot to mars is more efficient than a human... because we can't survive there with out a ton of equipment. That has little no no relevance to droid vs sentient as a whole. Yes in SOME roles a sentient is less efficient in some "super human" tasks over a droid. Also, a droid needs power, it needs oil/hydrolic fluid, and as we have seen in star wars movies they CAN"T work is all environments. They are just as restricted. Also, Computers and Cars are mass produced and if you wanted a brand new on it's going to cost you. if you want a used one I hope you have the skill/knowledge to maintain as well as the parts, other wise you are spending a ton of money. yes it's forbidden is some places because of moral standings of the law makers. Not because it's to costly. So yes if you want to by an illegal thing it's going to cost more in a place that it's outlawed, Think about that, legalize drugs and what an oz goes for now would be 50%-75% cheaper. So again irrelevant. Droids don't require only parts, they require lubrication, power, and parts. Have you ever actually worked on a machine before.... there is a lot more than a box involved. So they are limited, Sentients on the other hand will do what they need to on their own to survive, they don't need programing to do it,s instilled in them at birth. So again extra cost. here we go with the revolt crap again, yeah that has been addressed and I'll address it again, it's been solved, read Egyptian history and the Hebrews. They fed them "liquid bread" which was composed of grains and alcohol. It gave them every thing they needed to survive as well as made them more docile. So again irrelevant argument. No they where slaves. Not elaborate construction workers and they lived in a housing district made of mud and sticks. On a final note Most countries or civilizations that had and practiced slavery where made rich because of this practice. this would denote that owning and up-keeping slaves was cheap. The Roman empire is a prime example of the amount of wealth they gained through out their history because of slavery. Where as owning a car is never cheap. trust me I restore old classic cars. They WILL nickle-dime you to death and I would only assume that an old droid will do the same.
  11. Not really, Lego purchased a 10 year rights to the Star Wars IP last year. So Disney has no say what Lego does except things that directly involve the original story.
  12. And to mass produce those droids would cost more than rounding up 100 organics to be sold into slavery. You are forgetting every thing that needs to go into making that droid and keeping it in good working order. best example is look at a computer or a car. Both of these are mass produced and both require massive amounts of materials, and both cost more to make than buying a loaf of bread and water. This is basic stuff. And the thought you can't keep organics in rough living conditions, I think you need to go look at history, it proves in every way you can and it's effective. Organic slaves will always be cheaper than Droids. ALWAYS. The up keep cost is way more than the every day cost of Organics. Take your handheld game, no where near the amount of sophistication of a droid, but still the same basic principal. it has maybe a battery life of a few hours of constant play, you then have to plug it in a charger or in the wall, which costs power, which costs money. A droid would multiply that cost by hundreds if not thousands of dollars. To prevent revolts, that's already been done with little to no cost already, look at the Egyptian slave set up, liquid bread. It had alcohol in it to passify the slaves as well as all the nutrients to keep them healthy. So that's already been solved. Also, this debate isn't about morality. It's about cost efficiency which we well know just looking at today's society has no bearing on morality what so ever.
  13. On my Sin tank fully stimed I have 35k health. I'm fully optimized as far as I can go in the 69gear (dungeon drops/Arkanian) My Mitigation stats are 23% Def/35.8% Shield (55.8 with Dark Ward up)/43.7% Absorb (51.7% with 8 stacks of Dark Bulwark). I don't see myself getting past 40k health in full 72's if I'm still optimizing my Mitigation stats.
  14. The reason why it's deemed a WoW clone and not a DAOC, EQ, UO, SWG (not even close any way), Or NWN AOL is because when those games where around getting a 300k-500k+ sub player base and holding at that level was considered successful. So trying to compare the success-fulness of anything prior to WoW is redundant, they are different MMO's from different time periods. I wouldn't compare a race car from the 30's 40's to one of today. It doesn't matter. the tech is different, the way of thinking is different and the same goes with all MMO's before WoW. Also, total gaming population back then in MMo's was a few million, spread across 5 games. If even that. All those games required team effort, and or time/skill invested to get rewarded. WoW was the first to make every thing casual friendly and accessible to the masses. Also MMO gaming was considered a nerd thing back then and only nerds played them. Now everyone plays them to some extent. And to be honest WoW stole every thing they have in game now from just about every other mmo previously and current. So to run around screaming WOW CLONE WOW CLONE is just plain stupid. WoW is the biggest idea rip off from everyone else than any other game on the market. So with that WoW is really a EQ, RIft, SWTOR, DAOC, UO, NWN AOL, WHO, ect., ect. clone. So in short, WoW was the first MMO to get more than a few 100k subs through marketing and accessibility over any other MMO on the market.
  15. 9 times out of 10 it's bad DPS which cause all the problems. I tank 90% of the time and when the DPS decide that they should ignore the normals and only beat on the strongs/elites/champs it becomes very hard on the healer and the tank. Because now I have to run around trying to pick up all teh normals which are spread out all over the place to save the healer while the DPS keep beating on the elite and they pull aggro which the elites don't exactly throw cupcakes at you any more. So this causes the healer to heal more which then makes the healer pull threat on the elites because the tank is busy trying to get the normals under control while the DPS are herpaderpin' in the corner going god this tank/healer sucks. In short, bad DPS cause to many headaches for both the tank and healer.
  16. You are forgetting that if you stack more health then you are essentially reducing mitigation stats which means you are taking more dam and need more heals to cover that dam. So you have to remember that more health doesn't equal more survivability in this game, UNLESS we see a boss fight that does 100% elemental/Internal and then and only then will your health pool be the deciding factor on how long you survive. And since from what KBN has been reporting the total amount of internal/elemental dam from HM S & V is less than 2% health doesn't matter as much as it would say it be 10%.
  17. I'm sorry Zahirs, I've read just about eery post you made in the argument that droids are cheaper than humanoid slave labor and I start running present day numbers in my head and I just don't see it. So to help explain the numbers that I'm seeing I'm going to use a car versus a human in day to day cost. To get a human slave it will cost one of two things, time or fuel. What I mean buy that is either you will use present slaves to make a child that you can buy or take or you will use slavers to go and get the slave. Either which way the cost would be time and fuel. Depending on how far they have to go the fuel can be very very little or very costly. Then add in up keep of the human. you can feed humans a paste that is comprised of proteins and grains to sustain them. very low coast, maybe even cheaper than a loaf of bread. So on average if you take what a loaf of bread costs you are looking at spending roughly 10 credits a month on food. Now we take living costs.... who says they need to live in a house? take 4 walls put some hay on the ground and a bucket in the corner. total cost maybe 100 credits in building materials. Give them rags or hand me downs for clothes which would cost you nothing and a a fresh water supply, which a well can be dug with the slave you just bought. So total cost at this point is any where from 200 credits to a couple thousand depending on how much fuel was used to get said slave. Now we look at a car. Now I know it won't be a very accurate set up, but it will get the rough Idea across. First we have to mine enough ore to even start. You will need a combination of copper, steel, and some other composite materials. as well as lubricants, hydrolic fluids, and plastics. Even on a mass production scale these alone before production would cost more in refinement than a human slave would. Now we get to manufacturing costs. which this can be lowered since we a re talking about a world where full automation is conceivable. But you would still have to pay for the energy and the over head cost of of purchasing the fully automated system. Now granted this is all going to be split up across all the droids that are manufactured and we are only talking about 1 droid. But lets say on average 1 droid cost you 3-4000 credits. So just from this point the droid has cost you more than a humanoid would cost. Now lets look at up keep of both. A human would not require memory wipes to keep them from revolting so the cost would be 0 for a human and what every you'd have to pay a tech to do this once a month (or so). Then if you look at maintenance a droid would need fluids changed, a energy recharge station, which would cost more than food and water combined as well as the cost of a tech to perform these, even if you use a repair droid in place of a tech you'd still have the cost of purchasing yet another droid just to keep the one running. So in short. there is no possible way that a droid would be more cost effective than a humanoid as a slave. There are just way to many costly corners you could cut with a humanoid than you can with a droid.
  18. Normally it's easier to run with a ranged heavy group for raids. But a well balanced group will get farther in some cases depending how they have set up the different bosses. Most MMO boss fights tend to be harder on melee classes over ranged. But as others have stated play what you enjoy most, both are fun classes to play and have different utilities that are equally useful.
  19. I applaud you on the effort you put into this, but at this stage in the game we need more ranged options than melee. We have only 3 ranged DPS options and 5 melee, adding another will only bloat an already bloated spot for group make up. I love monk style play styles in other games so I would play this, but still would like to see another ranged class before adding another melee. Also I skimmed across the original posts was there a set up for possible melee healer? Kinda like the Disciple in Vanguard. Loved that class as a healer was really fun.
  20. The only right opinion in this matter is yours. I hate cake, you love cake so asking me if the cake is good is kinda redundant. The same goes for armor skins/colors.
  21. I ran a parser on a HM EC run I did for fun with my guild. I was spiking up to 2600 dps during my burst phases and sustaining 14-1600 dps depending on fight. I know this isn't against max level targets, but the other DPS that where in group with me where mains and had a mix of purple 66-69 stated gear with augments. I had no augments and was in all 66 blues and was able to keep up. Needless to say I was shocked when I saw the numbers. I was expecting a dps increase from pre-2.0, but not this big of an increase. This has made me very happy since I didn't like Pyro at all, and I have hung up my tanking armor and this has become my new Melee raiding toon.
  22. I have it bound to my Alt+1 key, also I use it before every burst phase *basically when I hit my boundless ages relic* and I weave it into my normal rotation. Hit an ability hit alt+1, waiting 1.5 sec any way might as well hit an extra key.
  23. Right now there is no significant difference in dps between the two. It's been gone through over and over by some of the top theory crafters we have in this game. The difference is less than 1%...atm if even that. Pre 2.0 Power would out weigh str on classes WITHOUT the increase main stat talent (IE Maras/Sents and Sins/Shadows) and in those cases when they hit around 25% crit unbuffed power outweighed str. On classes with the main stat talent the difference was a .01 dam increase between power and main stat.
