  1. I wouldn't like that at all. Ignoring what the loss of subscribers/purchases would do to the game and revenues, the engine is fine. This game looks better than any on the market that I've seen, with the possible exception of games like secret world which tell me that my computer is far too crappy to play them, lol. Haven't seen ones that just pain draw a line in the sand and don't even try to let people with low to mid range computers play, so I can't comment on them. What this game needs is a renewed dedication to what separates it from other mmos--high quality story content and class stories. The rest is just icing. and a new engine is entirely unnecessary--especially when WoW gets away with using a virtual antique.
  2. They may have wanted to scale i a way that didn't make ships feel empty. I'd be fine with a hanger that is large enough for a full sized player ship and a shuttle.
  3. I don't know this mount, but it sounds cool. You won't be able to change the speed because that's part of what it is--beat up and damaged. Think of it as trade off for coolness factor like the EC tanks Likewise, you prob can't get it any other way. It sounds like a rare dread seed drop.
  4. Can we agree that the lag of individuals is not something that the game designers are required to take into account? If it was, there's be no events in game and no 16 man ops. Maybe folks should actually try this content before getting bent out of shape about it. For those who can't find the commanders, there's a thread with all their locations thus far. I think it's on the PTS section.
  5. No, it's the first multiplayer game with single player quality story content.
  6. Lol, Vector and Lokin are the only agent companions who my agent isn't creeped out by. He's far more concerned by the bat-**** crazy than appearance.
  7. Honestly, it's probably not the game, it's probably your connection. I never used to crash, now I do and it started when my connection got borked in ways I won't bother to go into. If you do a traceroute, you'll probably find a place in the route where things go awry which is to blame.
  8. I like this idea. Anything that adds to immersion is a good thing and the announcer is excellent.
  9. I'm still a little confused about all that conquest will entail, but I'm actually really glad to here that there's an open world pvp component. It wouldn't feel like conquest to me without it. While I don't Pvp in regular pvp, I do enjoy open world pvp, even with the lag I get, lol. Does anyone know if it will give wz comms? Edit: read up and it looks like no, but that's ok. It's still fun. Open world pvp is fun on Oricon without rewards other than achievement.
  10. By the OP's argument, there was no point in the Roman Empire, because it eventually fell. We're talking 2 THOUSAND years here. We don't know what will happen in this time frame. We also don't know what will happen in the upcoming movies. The odds are pretty good that there will be resurgent sith or there won't be much of a story to tell. No side will ever have a complete victory or star wars is over. Regardless, not playing because the Empire loses at a distant point in the future is cutting off your nose to spite your face and prevents you from playing some fantastic stories.
  11. He had a few decent ideas, but some, like the idea of making a swtor 2 when this game still looks and feels this good, was just silly.
  12. Heck, even my Jedi knight knew that was a steaming pile, lol.
  13. We're talking about the original rakghoul event? Yeah, that stuff was one time only and to get it you had to do all the dailies every day for the entire event. Getting it meant something, unlike rep gear now. It would really devalue the achievement to briing it back and anger a lot of people. The reason they changed events to be announced in advance and repeat forever was that there was so much qq from the people who thing every player should be able to get everything in the game. Now they can. Sadly, it's not half as involving or meaningful. This is a case of be careful what you ask for. Personally, I think they should keep the rep aspect of events. in repeated parts like the tunnels, but have one time only aspects that you really have to work for like the first event for the people who want to put in the time for unique rewards. In accomodating people who want to pley events casually, they've taken away something pretty great from others.
  14. Yes, I understand why they did it this way. People wanted it back, there are a lot of new players who haven't done it before, and they're fat too busy with major expansion stuff to make a new event. I get that. I mention it not because I think they could have done it differently this time around (other than retexturing the caves for Tat--that was totally doable), but in hopes that they might consider this for next time around.
  15. It's also not forced participation if you buy the darned relic, lol. Pretty sure they added those just to be able to point at them when people complained about that.
  16. Agreed. Changing the texture color to reflect Tatooine wouldn't have been a big deal and would have done something to make it at least feel like Tatooine.
  17. I veered into talking about Makeb and Oricon there. Sorry it wasn't clear. I also was referring to events as a whole. If the Rakghoul event moved the story forward, even slightly with at least *one* different mission doing so, people would be more likely to continue to want to play. In contrast, the Bounty event has become something that you can shrug and say 'I don't feel like that, maybe next time. I fear this will happen to the rakghoul event now that it's a complete repeat. It's just sad to see something that started so perfectly become so watered down. That's not to say it isn't still fun, of course, especially for those who weren't here for Alderaan.
  18. Much as I love the Rakghoul event and understand that gear had to remain available under the current reputation system, anyone who was around for the first Rakghoul event knows how great that was. It had developing plot and unique gear that could only be obtained there. Alderran partially maintained that by furthering the rakghoul plot in a shallower way, but it still moved the plot forward. This complete recycling of Alderaan content stops that plot in it's tracks and makes the plague no different than the other events, which is an unfortunate thing in my view. I get that the staff is much smaller now. I get that story has taken a back seat to repeated content. I even get that they probably had no time to work on moving the rakghoul event forward with all the big new stuff they're adding. I still feel the need to say that I think this is a poor choice that removes the somewhat unique nature of the rakghoul events. While the game has gained much since launch, it's lost just as much, not just in terms of class stories, but in terms of replayability of events. It's lost the spontaneity it once approached events with and the 'can't miss this' nature of content and rewards. I really hope that one day they have enough staff to take a look at moving back to what events once were, at least in part as well as more meaningful story content with more replayability across classes.
  19. Not this again. 1. getting infected gives you both money and rep in a very easy way. 2, you can avoid it by using the vaccine. For those who don't want to do that, there are relics available in the staging area in the tunnels for cash not rep that make you immune to the plague for as long as it's equipped so you don't even have to buy vaccine. There, nothing to flail about. /endthread.
  20. Which was completely unnecessary. Lazy players are lazy.
  21. "It is very important that the staff not get weekends off because they OWE it to me to let me learn all the content before it's released! Owe, I tell you! That's because...uh..... well, I want it."
