  1. I was already sending the healing droid away to make it a bit challenging, and it wasn't that much. Most of the fights were already dead easy. Of all the changes in the last 5 years, the continual nerfing of content is one of the most annoyingly unnecessary.
  2. I can't help but picture a twig being washed away in a deluge of muddy water, heh.
  3. I'm not saying that they're complaints are completely invalid, I'm saying that the forum is overwhelmingly devoted to negativity that to the point that it's no fun to be here. I left about 3 years ago when the only topic was the game's predicted immediate demise, so I was wrong that nothing had changed. Now it's how much it sucks Honestly, I'd rather just go play the game.
  4. I stopped coming to the forum years ago, because while I enjoy the game immensely, I don't enjoy the forums. I see that nothing has changed here at all, so that was clearly a wise decision. Just popped in today to say how much I've enjoyed all the new story content and, particularly, how much I'm enjoying the new chapter. It's really fun! Thanks for all the hard work and great content. Due to the Canadian dollar sinking like a rock, it now costs me almost twice as much to sub as it did at launch, but I still consider it well worth it.
  5. Love the expansion so much. You really won me over to shared content by making it so great, immersive, in-depth and well acted. I'm not going to have any problem playing this repeatedly with different characters. Everything about it is really fun and I love the fact that I feel like I have a real reason to to the 'daily' content in character. So many kudos! Also, thank you for the big new area of our own on base. Not only will it come in very handy, but it really helps with immersion in the story. I get why the companions are so powerful and the average mobs not that challenging. You've made it so new players can do this too, which is great, and they're not going to be fully Ops min/maxed like I am. Solo'd the heroic fp last night and I really saw why they needed their strength for me, too, lol. About the only thing I would ask Is that we have a way to adjust their effectiveness not that we can't do it with gear, so we have a way to make average encounters more challenging if we wish, but honestly, that's a small thing in comparison to what a fantastic job you've done with this.
  6. I'm really laughing at myself right now. I never come to the forums anymore since they're such a whine-fest, but I thought this time folks would surely be happy and I wanted to tell the Bioware what a great job they did. I underestimated the ability of people to be peeved. Yeah, we could use a way to adjust companion effectiveness now that we can't do it with gear, but there's so much more that's fantastic about this expansion, I thought people would be happy about that. Silly me. I love this expansion, and I thought I would only be happy with more class content. Nope. Love the cutscenes. Love that the story is front and center. Love the way they made the daily-type content not only feel like part of the story, but make much of the previous game content relevant again. Love that they gave us a big new instanced area for rp. Love the way it feels like an rpg and a direct successor to Kotor 1 and 2. Love how much there is to do that feels related to the story and I have a good reason for doing. Love the new companions and new areas. I can't wait for the next chapter, but I have plenty to do until it comes out. In short, Thanks, Bioware. This is great! I sure hope you have some way to measure popularity of content besides this forum, because, holy hell, what gets said here is miles away from reactions in game.
  7. This is the kind of content that we were initially lead to believe was a continuing part of the game. It's not a change, it's a return to the original vision and I for one am thrilled. This is why I bought the game in the first place. Thank you Bioware. When people said this would never return, I just kept waiting and here it is. Huzza! I'm hoping that our old companions get some attention, too. Lord Scourge is tremendously interesting and I feel like we just scratched the surface with that character. Raiding isn't dead in this game, there's plenty of content. hardly anyone has downed nightmare on the new ops, and most guilds are stilll working on hardmode. Why would they release more when so few are able to do what they've released? It makes perfect sense to releaase story content first and additional ops later.
  8. It's a glitch and stopped happening to me when I got a faster computer with a better graphics card. How old is your system?
  9. Yes, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't be aware of the impact on what you're asking for on others. Also, decorating with care and conquest aren't mutually exclusive.
  10. So...you guys realize that if they double the hooks, conquest bonuses willl go down, right? Not saying that Tatooine couldn't use more hooks, especially in the upper desert area, which is almost empty, but that should be part of the conversation. I don't know where they'd put more hoos in Coruscant and Dromund Kaas. It already looks like a hoarder lives there if you use all of them. Personallly, I think you should be able to get your conquest bonus without using all of them so you could decorate for style rather than sheer number, but not lose that number so you have placement options.
  11. Length isn't the only factor. Don't get me wrong, it was just enough to whet my appitite for more, but regardless of that, I found that short mission more immersive and meaningful than anything I've done since the cllass stories ended. That's not a slam to the other content. I've enjoyed some of it greatly, but even a short class mission is fulfilling in a way that shared content just can't be.
  12. OP, you're basically saying that Luke was a fool because he didn't turn into a sith to ensure his own survival. With that as a guiding principle, all jedi are fools and you're looking at the choice from a sith perspective, not an unbiased one.
  13. I enjoyed the class missions a great deal and support any class content I can get. Sure, it could have been longer and Rishi was a little bizarre, but I loved the Yavin 4 storyline. I think this is a viable model for how we might start getting class content again, although it needs some tweaks. No one wants new chapters more than me, but if we aren't at least a little realistic and support content that moves in the right direction, we're not going to get any new class content at all, most likely
  14. If WoW can run for decades with infinitely worse graphics--and personally, I really like the look of swtor--I see no reason for this to be a concern at all. People have been saying the sky was falling since launch and wolf has been called way too many times for it to be believable
  15. If I was a force user, I'd probably be living outside the republic and the empire and doing my best to avoid both sith and jedi--assuming I knew something about both. If I wasn't a force user, I'd probably be doing the same thing, lol
  16. Ok, admittedlly, I only read the first page and a few posts after, but I'm not seeing the problem. No one but the emperor and possibly the hand knows what's really going on. Everyone else is making assumptions and sometimes changing those assumptions as time goes on, but trying to sound like they actually know something so as not to appears weak. The Hand may know, or they may just think they know. They may think they're telling the truth or they may be trying to manipulate the wrath. We don't know. What we do know is that they're fanatically loyal to the emeror and would destroy anyone or anything if the emperor told them to, including themselves, and expect the wrath to do exactly the same. I think it would be a mistake to imagine that anyone but the emperor knows what's really going on.
  17. Well...evendarkside, if he's practical rather than a total sociopath, that will still be true on occasion if it nets a greater reward.
  18. Thank you for them. Yes, they were shorter than I would have preferred, but they renewed my interest in playing on all my characters rather than on just one or two that I use for ops. While I really enjoy doing operations and flashpoints with my guild, my main interest in the game--what drew me to the game--was the class stories. Without that, I'm just coasting. I understand that this was testing the water to see if class stories could be integrated with shared content and how that would be recieved, and I hope the verdict was positive. I can't state strongly enough how much more interested I am in content that relates to my story and reflects my choices than I am in any other content. I also understand that such content represents a sizable financial burden on the game. My hope is that going forward, more ways are found to bring our class stories into play and that the class element can be expanded. While I would prefer entire new chapters, if the class content was expanded to be longer than what we saw here, say along the lines of the main expansion story arc, I could let the idea of new class chapters go and feel like my character was continuing to be developed. This was too short for me to be able to see it as a substitute, but it was really fun and well written. Kudos to Alexander Freed. Another option would be to have shorter class missions like this one being released as regular updates, say, when new hypercrates were released or when events came back and obtainable fron the ship terminal. I missed my characters so much, lol. It was great to see them again. In shared content, it doesn't feel llike it's them in the same way.
  19. That's not really true. In coversations with Jaesa, you're quite clear about the need to hide what you're up to with a strong implication that if your goals were discovered, it would be disasterous. Your conversation with the entity shows that on some level, it's an internal concern, acknowledged or not. When you're called on your choices in conversation, you always find excuses, you don't go 'hey, it was the right thing to do because i'm lightside.' Powerful or not, if the council turned on you as a group, they'd hand you your ***.
  20. I disagree on the warrior story. Many of the LS choices are the most effective option if you're playing a pragmatic character with a sense of honor. The only time you have to pick some choices that are slightly awkward is if you're going for 100% lightside. You can get lightside 3 or 4 without any difficulties in justifying your actions. If your character is 'rawr, no mercy', then yeah, it might not work, but a character who sees the empire on a no win path which must change? Easy, peasy.
  21. My take in it is that to revive interest, they'd need to reduce the amount of crafting materials necessary and increase the number of things that could be done in smaller groups than ops sized groups. Ie, have some commanders that could be done with smaller groups and possibly more of them. Reduce the number of things that need to be done through groupfinder. Let fps be repeated, adding number of kills to what must be done rather that eligible for the daily so people have to do the whole thing. In other words, give people a way to compete then only a few in the guild want to do it without busting their wallets or forcing them to pug with large groups when they'd rather do things in a group with the guildies who are interested. I know what they were trying to do and it WAS great to have the whole guild working together, but it buts too much pressure on those who don't want to do it or who are exhausted from pulling their guild through it with almost solitary effort and wealth. It's unfortunate, but that's what's happeneing. Increase the gsf rewards, because it really is fun and most people don't get to that point. They need a better reason to get through the learning part.
  22. Agreed. Day/night cycles can be utterly immersion breaking. They are not without their own problems. To work, they need to be on a a semi-realistic timer which pisses people off when they spend a whole evening gaming at night--assuming that night is dark enough to be believable. When it isn't, that's immersion breaking, too. I understand completely why they went the way they did. Of course, I wouldn't mind day/night being added to the strongholds. It wouldn't matter if it was night the whole time you were there and I'd really like to see my torches lighting a dark night. The question is, could the servers handle the extra load of all those lighting calculations? There's a good chance the answer is no.
  23. Legacy is my next stop. One thing for sure, if Alexander Freed writes it, I say 'here's my money.'
  24. People fail to look at the intent behind the stories, so they want them all to play the same. IMO, that would be less interesting. The consular is a story about diplomacy and politics. I enjoyed it a lot. It's only real downfall it that you can't play it darkside believably. In the knight story, while some dark choices are just petulant, there are many others with are completely logical, even 'better' choices if one keeps one's goal in mind. In the consular, that is rarely the case. it's simply impossiblle to believe that your behavior would be tolerated in the context of the story. I agree with some of the critique about motivation. They really needed to establish more of a bond with your teacher and/or give the character some personal reasons to be willling to make a sacrifice, ones that would be compelling to a darkside character as well. I disagree about the inquisitor story. it's one of straight up personal survival and it does that in a very interesting and compelling way.
