  1. Does anyone know when the new planet will be out?
  2. I agree. These humans as a species are such spoiled squishy little talking monkeys.
  3. No offense to anyone. Personally I enjoy the chapters in this game better than any other MMORPG I have ever played over the last 15 years. The story is an accomplishment for MMO tech. If you don't agree I don't care...it is the internet. What I don't enjoy are the designers (not the programmers) copying World of Warcraft and playing it so safe with the game. BioWare is better than this. Free to play won't fix any of these issues that E@ and Luc@s @rts are concerned about in terms of profit. Or I could be wrong and it will. But I have to point out China. That is a major market they need to nail in the same way WoW has. Again this is just my internet opinion. Layoffs are never a good thing to go through. I wish everyone the best. I am sticking with SWTOR, Eve, LOTRO, and TSW. I could utterly care less about WoW and want to see it's influence deleted from the design layout.
  4. Has the game been released in China yet?
  5. I would rather they take their time to get it right. Stop whining.
  6. I think they are on the Horizon. BioWare listens but they are on a software development speed which takes time. It takes time and a planned effort. There is no instant button. There is a lot of underpaid people and long hours in the game industry in terms of software developers and DBA's.
  7. Thank you DBA's for spending the time to get this in place !
  8. I like the Voss story very much and there is a mystery within that story. As a fan I would prefer to see a new species that is not in the game or a concept for "new species based on classes. An example would be the Trandoshan who is the bounty hunter. The Bothan that is part of the Bothan Spynet. Then these species could be unlocked based on legacy for each side. I still want to be a droid and a jawa:)
  9. I do like how they are filling up the Fatman for those into PvP. I can see the long term planning for mega servers.
  10. For me personally, I think doing this in small proportions is the way to do it. Then BioWare can analyze the population data and make a sound decision for their infrastructure with additional transfers. And to be honest if you have been playing MMORPG's since the early days of MMORPG's you know the drill. Its the first phase in a long term plan that moves us into Mega Servers down the road. I think the concept of Mega Servers is actually a better solution.
  11. I will bet an entire capital ship that in 3 years we will have wookies or trandoshans to play as main characters. Something along those lines. The game is going to evolve immensely as long as Lucas Arts allows it to continue.
  12. Does anyone play the game with 3 monitors? Would an Nvidia EVGA 560ti handle that? Also, any suggestions for a good monitor would be awesome at 23" or 24".
  13. The tank taunt is awesome as we have a shortage of tanks on my server. The level of communication is already bumping up. This is a great direction.
  14. We are doing well on Syth Wyrm. We had a slow period but stuck to our guns. We have noticed we have started to pull together with other guilds to run 16 OPS. We can run 8 person OPS or flash points with no problem. But I also have it structured for my guild to be self starters and self leaders so that there is activity. I think the weekdays during the day are slow for our day time gamers. I also notice that we have a consistent group that runs in each time zone from the east to the west in the US. We have a lot of former SWG and WoW gamers mixed in with original EQ and UO. Its a good fit for everyone. We have zero tolerance for drama. With that in mind we have been growing. We went down to 45 and have come back up to 65. Personally, I think the game is very young. The content reminds me of how LOTRO started with the same kind of foundation and then grew to an amazing excess of content. It looks like the design has a larger spectrum of content that is coming to fill in the gaps. We see that. If BioWare can add new systems and keep the content coming I think the game will be in a healthy spot this fall. The first two years are the growing stage of any MMORPG. I do feel that some people feel a sense of entitlement for features who came from an MMO that has over five years of development time invested and 8 million subscribers in china and less than 2 million in North America. In due time SWTOR will have an amazing abundance of content. And we will be here. And as we can all see everything we are asking for is pretty much on it's way. I do think BioWare cares much like CCP does with Eve Online. So we are good and growing.
  15. We are now in June of 2012. What kind of community should we be building on these forums?
  16. @ OP Yes. No offense but do you guys read the dev tracker at all? Some of you may not know this but patch 1.3 is bringing character transfers to address the server ppoulation issues. Then after the dust settles from character transfers BioWare will regulate the server populations so they can merge servers.
  17. Remember a community on the forums can be the destroyer or a ground breaker for a game. This patch is addressing issue that the players have brought up such as server population.
  18. I don't see the point of having dates. If BioWare were to do this and didn't meet the delivery date people complain. If they release with bugs people will complain. If they do have dates and then have to postpone a date because bugs were found and they want to release a really stable patch, people will complain. It is a no win situation for online communities with these behavioral patterns when they can utterly destroy a game from the forums up. I am glad if something has to be postponed for developers aka game designers and aka programmers, want to post pone something to make it better or correct an issue. I
  19. I am really appreciative of these changes so the feedback can make it back to the managers and designers.
  20. @ The community Team In terms of navigation for the SWTOR web site, will all of your blogs be under community news? Or will there be a link that states "blogs"? How will you reach out to guilds? Will the web site be taking on a more social aspect for its subscribers such as what LOTRO has done with providing a form of wordpress for its community, or how Eve Online has an Eve gate?
  21. Mega Servers are a better solution to bring the population together. A character transfer service is not a bad idea. If we are going to move toward character transfers first, then server merges second, most likely it is to give people choices. Then BW will analyze the data and make a fair population decision. There is also the issue of Legacy names. So a database solution is needed. And to make it perfect it takes time, testing, and time. Another issue I want to bring up is that a lot of us don't really have a back ground in software development. Nor do we understand that development cycles take time. You can't rush content out, it has to be tested and perfected. With that in mind I would love to see BioWare and Lucas Arts take more of a CCP approach such as Eve Online does with an almost daily dev blog. http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp We also have to separate definitions between developer and manager. Programmer, artist, QA, vs Manager. We need to make intelligent communications instead of rants. Rants will be ignored. Game development is not instant. I know that is frustrating to hear. It is just the truth. I am not saying the game is perfect besides the PvE. I am saying BioWare knows, and the developers know. Now we need to see the solutions added and communicated. I believe this is where we get frustrated is that communications are always cryptic. LA's need to lighten up. BioWare needs more independence. Let's not make the same mistakes SWG did because of the license. All I see are community members who seriously want this game to be top dog. Lets unite under that banner. Now this post is not pertaining to anyone- I think mega servers should have the following: 1.) Population capped at 10k-20k 2.) Solution for Legacy Names. 3.) Almost daily developer blogs. 4.) Web or VTC meetings with the player population. -Monthly 5.) Dueling arenas like KOTOR in social areas.
  22. I support the idea as well. It encourages social interaction. One thing I liked about KOTOR was the Dueling Arena. That could fit into the coming ranking system. A lot of communities for other MMO's always ask for a dueling arena. The devs can do it, but will management let them?
