  1. The layoffs come just months after a previous round of layoffs at BioWare Austin, which BioWare’s Greg Zeschuk referred to as “restructuring” at the time. We reached out to BioWare and received the following statement: "As we announced in May and detailed at E3, the BioWare Austin team is refining Star Wars: The Old Republic to continue to grow the game and the service. As with the launch of any MMO, the size and skillset of the teams needed to maintain the game is different than the ones that built it. Starting in May, there have been staff reductions in the BioWare Austin studio and Rich Vogel left BioWare in June. Some people have been platooned to other projects at BioWare Austin and EA Sports/Austin. Others have been released – qualifying personnel receive severance and outplacement assistance. BioWare Austin is currently staffed to ensure the continued delivery of new, high quality game content for The Old Republic, and at a more frequent cadence. In the weeks ahead, we will announce plans for growing SWTOR with new content, new players and new ways to play." BioWare most recently updated Star Wars: The Old Republic to version 1.3. The developer hasn’t announced a replacement for Vogel as executive producer. IGN wishes the best of luck to anyone affected by today’s news.
  2. Server population issues are a huge problem with this game. Contracting the servers to a smaller number presents alot of challenges to Bioware... a. Manditory or optional. It has to be done, but what about our friends? b. Free transfer or do we pay. (It will be cold day in hell before I spend more money to help correct a vendors mistake.) c. Guilds. Its difficult to do an optional transfer and keep guilds intact. Not impossible but difficult. d. Alot of other things I have not even thought of... I am hoping for the best with 1.3 I really like this game. I do not wanna go back to wow or hit D3. I really hope they solve the server issues with some intelligence. Worst case senario, No guild transfers, you pay to get there and have to rebuild. Best case senario, Free transfers, guilds stay intact on the destination server. But if I am asked for another $25 or some such to help them fix the server population issue. I am done. I am not married to this game just yet. It is still disposable. Good luck Bioware Its an awkward problem... dont screw it up.
  3. Nuff said, sick of server resets twice a week. and now random disconnects (new feature they added 2 days ago) Heading out. See ya Bioware, good luck (ish) Don't really care.
