  1. I'm a tank. 1) I do get votes on a daily basis for protection and defending/achieving objectives. It helps with you run with a familiar crew who knows your 'work' 2) In Alderaan if someone is guarding a point that gets no action most of the time I vote for them 3) If a healer was healing well but got only 3-4 medals because they were healing and not dpsing I typically vote for them because they helped us achieve a win at the expensive of getting medals for themselves. I think that's only fair. The whole point of MVP is commendations. DPS has no problem raking those in. Tanks generally do fine too cause you can get 4 commendations just from guarding someone well.
  2. 3 sides greatly aided the fun factor of DAoCs open world pvp
  3. Um, Not understanding ≠ bad grammar
  4. If you trait for free freezing force pvp becomes way easier cause woah everyone is slower and easier to hit. Even if its not free plopping it down against a wily enemy really makes things easier.
  5. Defense 31 has some better pvp utilities and I don't think what you give up in blade barrier vs unremitting/protection seriously gimps the tanking ability of a 31 def guardian. I think people can legitimately go either way, more commonly I have to defend the 18 24 spec against people who say hybrid spec is stupid because vigilance is called damage. <boggle>
  6. Watch out they will pull out from quote from beta of someone saying re: spec lines 'dps is dps is dps' even though it makes no sense that all dps specs should do the same dps given that their base class has different strengths/weaknesses.
  7. We SHOULD be stacking defense rating, this bug just needs to be fixed
  8. I've hopped around from focus to vigilance to defense. I end up with highest damage with defense stacked on a healer because we keep each other alive and beat the crap out of 5 people trying to take us down while the rest of the team snipes and captures/defends the points. Also I tend to have the fewest deaths with defense so I spend less WZ time running back from spawn. More time to do damage. It is a bit more complex but it's pretty satisfying to stun/push/mez/taunt 4 enemies trying to take down the healer and you get a lot of protection medals also. A lot less boring then a 4 skill sweep rotation but it does take a bit to get the hang of it.
  9. 33/8/0 here, I also levelled with 17/24/0 and that worked for tanking also. 33/8/0 is a bit more fun in PvP because of more stunning and immobilizing potential.
  10. I've used this build all the way to 50 and don't feel focus starved, I then switched to 31 def to compare and focus may come a little easier but if you pay attention to rotation and use Throw+leap, SS whenever its up+ double leap, you are not focus starved to any significant extent. Edit: So yeah, the focus problems gets a lot better at 50 because you can guardian leap+force leap 15 seconds into the fight for 3 more focus and a free blade storm. This is really only easy if you focus target your companion who is Doc or another ranged companion.
  11. It depends, if you go full vig then yes you will have a focus problem. If you go 24 vig 17 def and aim to tank with this and you don't have plasma brand then soresu with partial vigilance ( like the sticky spec in this forum) focus generation is fine given you have some of the focus saving talents in both trees.
  12. It would be cool to see some yellow text acknowledging this and saying a fix is in the works, pretty please?
  13. So I know this is an unpopular talent but I wanted to grab it for the 4% buff. I recently switched to defense spec and took the Inner Peace talent which supposedly raises elemental/internal dmg reduction by 4%. When you hover over your armor reduction my elemental/internal remained at 10% and was not given a bump by this talent. Is this a bug in reporting or in the talent not giving the bonuses it says it should>
  14. I use everything but slash, overhead slash has replaced it. Pommel strike, Enure, Riposte are all critical when the timing is appropriate for them. Opportune strike is usable right after you leap into something. It had a short window but is basically free damage. I tend to guardian leap+leap a lot so it adds up.
  15. Oh and I always set a focus target of a friendly ranged dps because I can guardian leap to them and then force leap back into the fray for a brief 40% dmg shield. It takes a bit to get the routine set up but it improves survivability quite a bit b/c of the dmg reduction and when you are leaping all over the place players break target.
  16. I'm at 50 and run Vigilance/Defense in PvP. I feel very hybrid in a good way and can protect a healer while running soresu or do pretty good dps with the OS/Plasma Brand. If I'm focusing on dmg I'm typically in top 3 but have a lot more survivability than dps classes. We also have a lot of great utility abilities once you get up there in lvls.
  17. I think a key point is if you run up and down the hallway you will always have Awe up when he spawns the adds. He is slow and just the curves of the hall mean he can't really be damaging you at all and you have time to recharge awe and medpacs. Try taking time in bringing him down so you don't have 3 sets of adds right away This adds about 5 minutes to the fight but seems to make it tons more doable.
  18. Republic here. On Ebon Hawk the matches I've been playing its been close to 50/50 for the past week. It is a lot worse when we have a lot of lvl 10-20 but its getting better. I've noticed that if ops is silent the entire time we tend to lose, if people are letting each other know where to go and whats up then things are a lot closer and we have a good shot at winning. I also notice significant #s of my fellow players getting upset and rude in ops chat when we are losing. Why? PvP newbs become PvP pros through experience which includes higher lvls using ops to communicate and being respectful. The 50s and higher valor folks could help by setting an example and encouraging team play.
  19. I'm at 50 using the 17 Defense 24 Vigilance tank spec and having a great time tanking everything.
  20. With the 1/2 Vigilance 1/2 Defense spec I use Riposte > Sundering Strike > Overhead Slash > Blade Storm(Dispatch) > Force Sweep > etc with master strike thrown in for that one time OS/SS/FS are all on CD. Once you get Overhead or Guardian slash I put slash somewhere off to the side and have been neglecting it
  21. I kill so many more people in PvP since dispatch. It tends to beat the reaction time of the enemy healers.
  22. Also killed him with force push down the stairs after 10 wipes. You could kite him around enough so that Awe is always back on timer when the adds spawn. I also was micromanaging T7 to do Awe+T7AoE to kill the adds pretty quick with minimal loss of life. You need to put T7 on passive also so he doesn't get killed by the emperor and just use him as a AoE bot. It's possible I could have gotten him all the way down with this method but I was impatient from dying 10 times so I just pushed him down the stairs twice. So for sents it sucks, but on the upside the video of the Sentinel killing him it seemed like your dps was sufficient to down him a lot quicker than I had been, so this micromanaging T7 + kiting might work for you.
  23. Obviously force leap doesn't work on the adds but also my cyclone slash seemed to not be working. Given that slash/cyclone slash are same damage type shouldn't cyclone work?
