  1. Just one line below the link I wrote "Ok, now jokes aside..." and that was just right after introduction...but still for some people its to far. Don't let the anger consume you, I'm on your side .
  2. This fps thing is another glaring issue in their advertising. If they were competent, they've run stress tests and knew exactly how many toons they can support without performance problems. With that in mind, they were not just hyping (you can hype subjective feelings adding expressions like "exciting", "mindblowing", etc.), but simply lying when talking about hundreds in Ilum. Also don't expect any new zones soon (well nothing more complicated than things like outlaw den). Should BW decide to go that direction, optimistically there probably won't be anything earlier than on summer...realistically I'd bet autumn.
  3. I wouldn't go that far. The overall combat mechanics is fine, classes are quite well balanced (its not ideal, but BW will work out this one) and warzones are fun. Gabe and his team are a good craftsmen of pvp fastfood. But they seem to be just craftsmen, replicating ideas from the provided blueprints. Without clear recipe for success, with more variables at hand, in unpredictable environment they've failed miserably. They were unable to think two steps ahead and verify their ideas.
  4. Community fault is a lazy excuse. Players act very rationally - they're trying to maximize their gains. Check out "game theory" - that's a study of the economic interactions between different subjects and mmo players are great example for it. Good dev is the one that anticipates and takes advantage of such behavior to influence players action into desired direction. Should developers start blaming community that's not playing as it's expected, that would be the sign that they've failed. Also, there are plenty of mechanic examples available out there - you couldn't zerg in Arathi Basin, you can't zerg in Alderaan, etc. It's all matter of choosing proper mechanics, but I'm not going to rewrite all those solutions in this topic. It all has been said.
  5. You obviously haven't your reading comprehension fully operational at this time .
  6. I wholeheartedly agree. I like WZ but won't stand it all the time. That's why I've canceled subscription, but will probably resub somewhere after 1.2 patch to play it for a moment. As for the statics, they do it because it's easier. You don't need as much work, you don't need to be as creative when developing static world. What's more important, WoW has static world and is still having a lot of subs. As soon as successful next generation MMO hits the market, all those existing archaic designs will go down. But that's the business risk of avoiding innovation.
  7. Date is visible in the link and while listening you can actually notice they're talking about things to come. But you're right here, it would be better to state it directly to avoid confusion. As for other things, timers wouldn't change it. 20 would still be facerolled and farmed by those 100 with or without timers. Not to mention it wouldn't stop trading, just made it longer.
  8. Let's not deceive ourselves, pve is and will be more important than pvp in this game. For me unfortunately, for vast majority probably not so much. Still I can't understand why story telling couldn't compose with pvping...but that's another cup of tea, not for this topic.
  9. Well that's not exactly...the title and first few sentences are controversial but that's just intended hyperbole. I'm pretty sure devs are aware that they've made a mistake...but i'm not so sure if they know how to fix it. That's one thing. The other is that Ilum was meant to be a simplified, "rough" pvp lake. No fancy strategies, no tactics, just straightforward bashing to get some bonus for the main part of pvp content - Warzones.
  10. By no means I'm complaining about faction imbalances. That faction imbalance is just a testimony on devs inability to develop, provided by Gabe Amatangelo himself. I'm merely commenting things he mentioned in his video. What's more, I'm not complaining about Ilum at all. I did in the past, but I don't see any point now. My message is that, it'll be a really nice game if you're only into WZ thing (and some random ganking), but If you're expecting any significant, meaningful world pvp don't hold your hopes.
  11. It's such a shame there are no "sarcasm" brackets in this text editor to mark parts of the post for people like you. It's obvious everyone sees it's not working as intended. Point is that: 1. They don't took Ilum very seriously (which is not really an accusation, just the remark for all those that believe Ilum can be a true world pvp). 2. They really believed such setup would work, when it was obvious it wouldn't.
  12. I stopped playing on "Cod: Modern Warfare" part, but a "grind" that was there was very reasonable. New ranks, new perks, new toys - sure thing. Thing was that (especially on hardcore mode) you could easily kill others with just a starter setup. Getting new things was just additional fun, not a necessity. You think it would be equally funny if each rank was giving additional 5% life and damage? I don't think so. Carrot on the stick is nice, progression is nice. But it needs to be implemented intelligently. I think it's all slowly changing, and the mainstream will gradually move away from the mindless grind. True solution of success is to add progression in a way it's not tedious but funny and that all its levels are enjoyable.
  13. I guess it's not a failure in their own eyes. It's just an addon to a real pvp and what's more, judging from that link, Mr. Amatangelo probably still can't believe that large group of players are mad at such great design (after all it can hold 5vs1 battles, can't it?)
  14. I don't agree or disagree with your idea. I just have my own comment on the tread infesting drones. Those that don't even try to think but rather mindlessly repeat "it has always been like that..." are just like monkeys from this experiment: http://www.atheistconnect.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/210862_187577147988833_100002096479920_406166_1006804077_o1.jpg Time will change, new generation of MMOs will come eventually but they'll be still holding to that line against everyone that will ask questions and try to improve things.
  15. I'm glad we agree. That's exactly what I've mentioned. Now, is there anything you'd like to add apart from repeating my words ?
