  1. I hate the " just because MdDonalds sells x burgers doesnt mean they are GOOD burgers" analogy so thanks for not going there lol. YES , if In and Out sells a billion burgers it DOES mean the burgers are good. All those people dont go there because the burgers are BAD. WoW IS good. Ask those 10 million people. Who dont have to compete for dev time and resources with a bunch of F2P stuff. And it IS relevant to this discussion. M
  2. They will start making content and items to cater to the group of people who are making them the most money. This will be the F2P crowd. This game will suffer for that just like LOTRO and all the other games that use this model do. Pretty simple really. I prefer the other model simply because the playing field is even. M
  3. 1.5 (message to short so added this)
  4. For the last couple of months mine wont light up. The numbers are so dark Ihave to do strange things to read them. Once in a blue moon they actually light up and I can see them without using some combination of magnifying glass/flashlight/maneuvering my phone around to get the right angle. So you arent alone with a buggy security key thingy. lol. M
  5. If this is the most self entitled thing youve ever seen on these forums you didnt read them much. M
  6. I have 3 level 50s on each side, a level 45 on sith and a level 40 on rep. So Ive covered the levelling experience pretty well from both angles. I havent noticed any big difference in either side as far as one being easier than the other. I do prefer sith side for no reason other than I just like the quests better. But yeah, pretty much the same difficulty. M
  7. I like a lot of my companions. One of the hardest decisions I made was in the Imperial Agent story arc when I have run into decisions like this many times and I absolutely LOVE it when it happens. Kudos to BW for making the companion system so fun. Ive never played a BW game before but my son says that this is one of the areas that they shine in, more than any one else. They kept their shine for SWTOR IMHO. M
  8. There is an option in your preferences ( I dont recall exactly where, someone help me out here lol) where you can turn on "allow other people into your class quests" (not those words exactly, sorry its early for me). When you toggle that on people can help you with your story quests, even people of the same class. This is helpful because it is pretty easy to find help when other people are on the same quest as you. Anyway, dont hesitate to ask in general chat, I have yet to not get help through the community on ANY thing. These guys are pretty helpful people over all. Also, if you dont have one yet, find a good guild. If you are on Shadowlands look me up later today (im on Merryenna on imp side, Merry'beth on rep side) and Ill go out with you for a couple of hours and try to get some of the stuff done that you need done. Good luck to you, M
  9. They are all spread out between a TON of games. Years ago there was a very small community of gamers which consisted of a small group of very hard core gamers that only had a small handful of games to choose from. Now, every one and their grandmothers are playing a game and there are a boat load of games for them to choose from. They are out there, they are just playing other stuff. M
  10. This. It is only a matter of time before this game is Pay to Win. They ALL do it. Why? Because they make more money off their F2P players than they do on their subbed players, so they start to cater to them more and more until eventually you are the underdog if you are subbed up and DONT buy stuff off the store. That is why I am no longer playing when this game goes F2P. This game is a great game and I dont want to witness the destruction that F2P is going to cause it. Dont get me wrong. I GET why they are doing it. They need to make money and F2P will most likely do that for them. It will just ruin the game. M
  11. You are the exception to the rule. Most people have several, at least more than one, level 50 char. Heck, I came over here with a group of about 20 people from WoW and they all left within a month or two and ALL of them had a few, some more than a few, capped chars. That was just within the first month or two. I have 5 almost 6 and the content IS too thin and extremely repetitive on alts.. Simple as that. M
  12. There is another thread that was posted right around the time that you posted yours that got more traffic. I think people (myself included) pretty much said what they had to say in that one. Just FYI M
  13. I have bought exactly zero. Pre release they said that the legacy perks would be available EITHER with Legacy OR with credits. When they released it the perks required BOTH. So in protest, I dont have any of them, not a one (other than the ones that auto unlock). I realize that my protest hurts only myself lol. This is my first experience with Bioware and most likely will be my last because of things like this (and others too) example of where Bioware blatantly misled me ( I dont want to speak for others so I didnt say "us"). So it makes me feel better about it to simply not participate in the Legacy perk system. So yeah, zero. Read this after posting. I agree with this whole heartedly. IF they were ore affordable I might be persuaded to get off my high horse and play along. I have 5 50s and I NEVER buy anything, not gear or stims or anything off the GTN, NOTHING, and I STILL would go completely broke if I started buying the perks. They arent worth the cost/time sink. That plus my whole protest thing lol. So yeah... Still zero. M
  14. I have never used it either. Any grouping I did do in this game I did before there was a group finder and before the 20 or so people that came over here with me left. I have also never done an OP, never done a level 50 FP, and I have only completed about half of the "leveling" FPs. I CHOOSE to play solo, and I like it. So there you go, another person who has never used the group finder. M
  15. Ill try to explain it, at least from my point of view. I dont want anything for free. I dont complain that I cant get the uber gear, or neat shinies that drop in the dungeons that I have CHOSEN not to do. What I do expect though is access to the things that make my SOLO play more enjoyable/fun/etc that are relevant to solo play. Companions are absolutely, without a doubt, no debate about it, SOLO play oriented. You cant even use them in a full group. You can and will use him questing/doing dailies/exploring/farming/and whatever other solo activities you partake in. It just seems like an oxymoronic thing to do to make an item that is so clearly geared toward solo play only attainable through group play. Again, as I said in my previous post, I am not whining. I am just stating why I disagree with BWs decision. It isnt game breaking for me, the game breaking thing is something entirely different and already broke my game (I am still here because it isnt released yet). I absolutely accept that it is my choice not to go after the companion. My problem, I wont slash my wrists over it. M
  16. That is super nice of you and your guild. It doesnt help me personally mainly because I am not on that server but also because, after a lot of thought, I have CHOSEN to not attempt to get this companion. Please dont get me wrong, I am not complaining that I have CHOSEN not to group (it is disruptive to the people in my group when I have to go afk to tend to my husband, which I have to do OFTEN) to get this companion. I am simply stating the facts as I see them. Sadly I dont care enough anymore TO complain but if I did my complaint would be that something as integral to SOLO play as a companion should be attainable by SOLO players. /shrug I accept my choice and will be fine without the new shiny. Again, if more guilds like yours would step up and help their communities/servers out this would be a much more pleasant game. Thank you for being one of the good ones. M
  17. For many reasons I am a solo player. My health, my husbands terminal cirrhosis (he is on Hospice now), the fact that I ran a rather large guild for almost 20 years encompassing several games and came to SWTOR to "get away from it all", the fact that finding groups for things is an exercise in futility in this game (understanding that if you go for the comp in the first rush you will be able to find groups easily, just wait a while when every one has one and THEN try to get a group for it), and many more reasons, I CHOOSE to solo this game. Id be really upset about not being able to solo for the comp if I wasnt already planning on unsubbing over the free to play issue. LOL. M
  18. I dont even do end game content, Ive never done a single OP or even an end game dungeon of any kind. And I ALways have fun when I play. I have a ton of alts and I loved leveling each and every one of them. I still have some datacrons to get, and some pets to get, and some places to explore...omg. Dont get me wrong. I am fully aware of the lack of content in this game. Its just that I dont zerg every thing to death to the point where Im bored now. Ive still got stuff to do. M
  19. Its not just the dungeons (FPs Ops etc) that matter. What if you dont raid? If you NEVER do a dungeon in either game WoW will keep you busier longer at cap level.....bottom line. This game falls flat on its face for people who DONT raid/dungeon as soon as we hit 50. M
  20. Let me define what I meant by "beat the heck out of". Im not going to even TRY to guess how many people would sub to WoW if it released today with all the game options that are available. You are right, probably less than what it was back then. That is not what I meant though. Sub numbers dont always tell the truth about how good or bad a game is. What I meant by it was that the game itself would be a better game. It WAS a better game. At release WoW had more content, more things to do and was more fun to play than this one is today. The reason it was successful is that people didnt get SO bored in the first month or two that they left in droves. In fact the subs increased all the way until Cata. Because it is a fun game that keeps peoples attention for more than a nanosecond. A lot of people. Dont get me wrong, I think THIS game is fun. I am still playing it and enjoying it. But the 20 or so people who came over here with me from WoW disagreed. They played one or two chars through, some even did some OPs and got pretty serious about it, and were gone within 2 months. I am the only one left out of ALL of them . They went back to the game they had been playing for 8 years. They didnt quit SWTOR and stop gaming, or go to Warhammer or LOTRO or...... They went back to the game theyd been playing for almost a decade. Why? Because they STILL felt like there was something to DO over there. And apparently there was because they are all still over there playing it. Apparently over a million other people agree with them at least in that this game got boring enough to quit playing it. M
  21. I actually do too. II am currently working on my Smuggler who is almost 50 and looking forward to moving on to my Sith Warrior next. I have 4 (5 if you count the smuggler) capped chars and I still play the game every chance I get. Its fun and engaging..for now. I dont raid or even do FPs all that often, I just trip around on my chars levelling them and checking out the awesome class and companion story lines. I hope to get them all done before I get bored, so far so good. M
  22. And this game released TODAY in WORSE condition than WoW did 8 yrs ago. People have to stop comparing the release success/failure of a game that released almost a decade ago to a game that released within the last year. The bar has been raised. We now expect our games to offer things that we didnt even know were going to exist when WoW came out. (LFG for example. This game should have shipped with an LFG system in place. When WoW released there WAS no game with an LFG system in place so we didnt expect WoW to have one either). Truth be told, if WoW released today exactly as it was when it DID release it would still beat the heck out of SWTOR. Sorry but it would. M
  23. I think that people said "the game isnt worth the montyly sub" and BW read that as "Id play it if it were free". Id bet my farm that the people who left did so due to LACK OF CONTENT and wont be back until they have something more to do. The people that F2P will attract will be the HUGE crowd of "free gamers" who go from free game to free game and pretty much ruin any sense of community or loyalty in each game. NOT the people who have played out the content in THIS game and left due to the lack of something NEW to do. That is just my guess though.... M
  24. Welcome to SWTOR. My biggest piece of advice for you is have fun, enjoy the game, and ignore the naysayers. This is a super fun game (especially the first time through) so take your time and enjoy the journey. Again, welcome. M
  25. The voice overs are the same thing as reading a quest in other games at the end of the day. Yeah its neato the first time but it gets pretty annoying on alts and people space bar through them just like they skip reading the quest in other games. The difference between having to read a quest and having it read TO you really didnt make enough of a difference to make or break this game. If the VOs were not in sWTOR but it was a better, more comprehensive and content heavy game at release people would not have left in droves even if they had to read the quests. The VOs sure didnt keep them here. Furthermore, the whole WoW comparison thing. Yea they had years under their belt BUT some of the features that WoW has introduced have become industry standards, things we expect from ALL games now. When WoW came out it brought gaming to a new level with what it had THEN and KEPT raising the bar over the course of its lifetime. SWTOR released as a dated game. Simple as that. The WoW comparison is a bad one, and SWTOR loses the fight. M
