  1. I realize that - but that's why PvE servers exist - for PvE exclusive content. If I had it my way, there would be no quests on PvP servers. I'm on the side of the OP - PvE players should not get automatically flagged for using AoEs on PvE servers.
  2. MMO has always been about PvP - from the first days of UO. To state otherwise is placing your head in the sand. I don't want to "PWN NOOBS" as you call it. I want good fights between guilds; I think I stated such when I mentioned good PvP as in Shadowbane city sieges and EvE system fights. By wanting to bring SWTOR into the realm of MMO they defaulted into bringing PvP into the game. If BioWare had wanted to create a single player online experience that is what they should have done, and not labeled it an MMO. MMO = PvP and it has for years. The PvE was added after PvP because more companies could make money with it, but the true intent of MMOs was a Player vs Player interaction; otherwise known as PvP.
  3. Great PvP is Shadowbane or EvE; not the FPS game & "terribad" game you mentioned. Star Wars is a great universe to have PvP. This story driven crap is for single player RPGs. If they want a true MMO then they need PvP and they should be giving us guild vs guild PvP.
  4. This game has storyline content and plenty of it. But that only accounts for maybe 5% of the game life. End game is where we need real content as in great guild vs guild PvP. Until they put in more of that type of content the 95% is still lacking. Games are all about the end game; and people that rushed just got a head start. I'm not here for the story content, I'm here for the 95% end game content. Oh wait they didn't put in 95% content for end game, they thought they could just use the 5% over and over again on alts. The best content is that which is player made and not dev scripted. Give guilds the tools to build mini cities and allow guilds to fight for those cities and you will see great content; of the political nature.
  5. I would say it is not a computer issue. I have a new computer and see almost no ability delay like others talk about, I have great FPS and almost no lag in warzones. Then on occasion I have the worst 3-5 second delays I've ever experienced. So same computer runs the game fine 19 out of 20 warzones and lags up on 1 out of 20 warzones. I don't think that is my computer as much as it is load on the servers during that particular warzone.
  6. The problem is that the current state of this type of PvP favors a certain faction. In a fair PvP world, the gear acquired for PvP could be made as well as earned. Crafters should be able to make similar gear that comes from bags. I didn't need a full set of "elite" gear in Shadowbane to be a factor in group PvP; I just needed basic 100% rolled gear. Sure the 110% gear was nice but not needed. Going with the SB theme, you are only allowing the Republics to get the 50% gear while spoon feeding the 110% gear to the Empire. I play on the Empire and I still feel the current system is grossly unfair. I realize that not all tactical engagements of the actual PvP combat will be fair; but the way to acquire the gear should be reasonably fair.
  7. First off - Ilum is not Open World PvP - it is a PvP ZONE. Open World PvP would be a planet that everyone goes to, lives on, where guilds build mini cities, and guilds fight each other over resources. That would be Open World PvP (well not really - it would be Open Planet PvP). True Open World PvP is PvP that can happen anywhere; meaning I could fly to Ord Mantell as an Imperial and kill a few republics. Open World PvP is open across the whole server, not limited to a zone. 2 Faction never works. Which is why we need guild vs guild PvP. Shadowbane, EvE - anyone? BioWare needs to copy those 2 games city/system conquest system. That would be epic Open World PvP.
  8. I know it doesn't help now, but KNOTOR.com does have the set bonuses listed. I'm sorry that you didn't know which set to choose, but the information is out there so you don't make the same mistake again, or so other people won't make it.
  9. On PvE players it shouldn't be an automatic thing. That's the whole thing about PvE servers, they should not have any PvP whatsoever; to include no access to warzones. PvP servers should have access to warzones AND should have guild mini cities that could be fought over; in other words real Open World PvP. The OP is correct, that they shouldn't have to worry about throwing around AoE's and hitting another player.
  10. It won't matter if 100 threads pop up proving that Ilum turrets don't give out Valor; the damage has already been done. For multiple reasons this patch has brought on Rage from the player base. It is now a perception vs reality fight, and perception is winning. BioWare will have to cower to the player base, and will forever lose their respect. The reality is one that the players make, not the one that BioWare wants people to see. The players have spoken and BioWare screwed up; it doesn't matter if they fix it at this point.
  11. Working games with true world PvP: UO DaoC Shadowbane EvE Darkfall Mortal Online WoW does not have open world PvP - not the good kind at least. The games that weren't successful due to financial success doesn't mean they weren't successes for the genre. Shadowbane was a great game and is the only game to date with the best siege/city management system. I left DF because of bugs and exploits/grind. The biggest complaint I had with DF and MO were they didn't give guilds the utilities that SB did in allowing them to build cities anywhere the guilds wanted. That was what made SB unique, the power was given to the players. EvE is still a success and has the same type of foundation that Shadowbane does; a PvP centric guild/corp based power struggle game. The suggestion/solution is to create a planet that has the SB/EvE style of gameplay. Allow guilds to build their own mini cities, and then let the guilds fight over resources. It's too long to type out now, but after copying so much from WoW (while financially successful is a poor implementation of PvP) start copying from PvP games that actually made things interesting for years.
  12. It's why PvP should be a group thing, and not a solo thing. I know you are healing a group, but hear me out. PvP should be about group objectives, like in Shadowbane or EvE. You have a group that fights to gain advantage of an asset, not just more gear. The damage dealt and healing numbers need to be looked at independent of Ilum. I agree that healing needs an increase, and a straight healer should be able to heal through 1 to 3 peoples damage. But in order for that to happen you have to reduce the amount of damage a pure healer can do, and the amount of CC they can do.
  13. The only way to fix Ilum properly is to shut it down and make a planet with Open World PvP rules, like Outlaw's Den, and give guilds the utilities to build their own cities and own tracked vehicles/AT-ATs. Ilum was a failure from concept. It is still a linear zone that does nothing to give freedom to the guilds that want to PvP. Shadowbane - take note of their city buildling/sieging EvE - take note of their system conquest SWTOR - use the above 2 games to build your PvP
  14. You could have more than 3 factions, as in guild vs guild. Then each guild is their own mini faction. Allow guilds to fight each other regardless of faction - as in a whole planet that had the rule set of Outlaw's Den. I agree though that 2 faction DOES NOT WORK. We really need some type of asset destruction and mini city building for guilds.
  15. It would have to a server wide rollback. Mean the servers get reverted to right before they went down for the patch. All work from anyone PvE or PvP would be wiped, the last few hours would have never happened. It's the right thing to do, and it really sucks.
  16. Cross server will not fix faction imbalances if all the servers are unbalanced the same way; with a slant towards the Empire. The only true way to balance things is to allow guilds to fight other guilds. But it would take a dynamic shift away from what BioWare is used to. Allow guilds to have any faction/class/advanced class in them. Then allow those guilds to fight other guilds on designated planets. The guilds themselves would create balance as they fight each or group with smaller guilds to fight one huge guild. BioWare needs to keep away from trying to tell a story in PvP. PvP needs to be guild vs guild and should have nothing to do with faction vs faction.
  17. I have no desire to play GW2, because they are trying to take away roles. I love classes, and I love seeing how a GROUP of players uses different classes to PvP against other players. I never like GW1 and I'm not even going to bother with GW2. I PvP more than I do anything else.
  18. Yeah that's my fear. I don't care if people have 60 valor, I just want my shot at it, as I'm currently not in game. To be fair to the overall playerbase, they need to do a server wide rollback, not just a valor one.
  19. Start by stopping faction vs faction fights. If you know a faction is unbalanced creating a system that caters to that imbalance is not a good idea. Then you take the extra step to allow guilds to fight one another instead of factions. Guilds will help police population imbalances. Look at games like EvE instead of WoW. EvE has 4 factions for PvE, but for PvP it is all about the corps/alliances. If you want to create epic PvP, then start by going down the EvE or Shadowbane route. My suggestion for the current state of Ilum is to close the zone as others have suggested. Don't allow this catastrophe to continue. I play an Imperial character and realize this is just too unfair. But as I've said before PvP players are like water and will choose the path of least resistance.

    Ilum, seriously.

This is why BioWare has instanced the crap out of everything - they haven't created a solid network code to deal with 100+ people in the same area. It's obvious on the fleet when 20-30 in the same area lag it out. Epic fights need way more than 100+ in an area. But the biggest problem is again that they have chosen to go faction vs faction instead of guild vs guild. If they are to have any type of balance they need to allow guilds to fight each other over resources. I would love for guilds to be able to build AT-ATs or the walkers/ tracked vehicles as seen in Ilum. Those vehicles should be used in PvP to actually take and destroy assets like you have in 1v1 personal PvP. So a single building has several hundred thousand or a million HP, and the vehicles do 50k damage a pop. It seems daunting for a person to take a building, but a group with vehicles could take it. This game needs guild vs guild PvP so balance is built by the players. If you have one guild getting too big, then a few smaller guilds can join up and take them out. BioWare needs to give us, the players, the tools to create balance. BioWare needs to design a cool system that we use, but not one that they force on us.

    Ilum, seriously.

There is no incentive to PvP, because there was no investment. In other words there is no reward for PvPing on Ilum as there is no risk for PvPing. Shadowbane & EvE have great Risk vs Reward, where you risk your assets (cities/space) but gain rewards for defending those assets. Namely you get to keep your city/space and use them for mining resources. The last system was better than this - because the current state gives a huge advantage to too many players. At least the last system was fair to each faction. Again the fix to this is scrap Ilum and create an Open World PvP planet where guilds fight each other. Keep the faction story line out of PvP.
  22. I am sorry that this is the state of the PvP. This was never open world PvP though. This is always what happens when you have 2 factions. What we need is guild vs guild. Then you have the equivalent of many factions that all hate one another and fight each other. BioWare again doesn't understand that PvPers are like water - they will take the path of least resistance.

    50 Sorc Biggest hit

Almost any class once they hit 50 will have 15k HP. In order to do any type of raiding you have to have a minimum of 14k preferable of 15k. I have a squishy character that is reaching near 17k, and a few tanks in my guild have over 20k HP. 2.5k HP is nothing when a single untalented heal from an Operative will do that and 4k on a crit.
  24. You can close your companions hotbar by clicking the "-" sign on the bottom of the left hand side. It then becomes a usable hotbar - you do have to assign values to those slots; I use alt-1 through alt-"=". I have noticed that my "~" key which I use for my talk to push key toggles the companion hotbar. I don't know why that key would toggle anything, it never has in any other MMO. The bottom hotbar can be exanded into 1 more bottom hotbar so there are a total of 2 hotbars showing at the bottom of the screen. You also have to go in and set how you want to toggle skills back and forth on that hotbar. Those hotbars I have been talking about are called quickslots on the preferences tab.

    AFKers/Scripters

This is the reason we need friendly fire. If AoEs were friendly fire, then it would give another level of tactics to the game. If DD skills were friendly fire as well, then we could take care of the AFKers by killing them ourselves. On PvP servers, BioWare has warned us, that if it can be taken care of by using PvP then they will not consider it harassment or exploiting. So please BioWare give us Outlaw's Den PvP utility of friendly fire in warzones as well.
