  1. Lol, telling me that it's obvious, wow, just wow. Ok - I have never played WoW. I played for years Shadowbane and then EvE. Those 2 games are what I base all of my great PvP experience on - and WoW is a shadow to both of them when it comes to PvP. WoW was great at diluting PvP so the masses could drink it. But I have never and never will play WoW. UO was a great game too - I was only able to play that game for a fraction of it's time. Still UO had good PvP and also punished "reds". My MMO experience started in 97, when most of the younger gamers were still a twinkle in their daddy's eye or in diapers. Anyone under the age of 21 hasn't been able to fully experience UO or DaoC in it's glory days. WoW was the first MMO for a lot of players, but it was never mine. But it was still the PvE crowd that couldn't handle PvP, and thus the game companies started to dilute their product. Fortunately we have had games like Darkfall and Mortal Online attempt to bring back good PvP. Their problem was not having a big enough budget. Now I come to the real problem - BioWare does have a big budget and they should be using it for better end game content - both PvP and PvE, while holding off on the voice overs.
  2. This isn't an MMO yet! Stories from devs don't matter in MMOs anyways. What does matter are the stories that players make; that can be found in games like Shadowbane or EvE. The players should be making their own stories like in a Pen and Paper game.
  3. When BioWare decided to enter the MMO market they by default decided to also go after the PvP. MMOs = PvP I'm glad that BioWare can bring a new dimension to MMO gaming; but they can't do it at the risk of good end game content. Right now they have to focus on the end game playability.
  4. It's not an issue of what has already happened. Everyone has the voice overs from 1-50. But the focus should now be on the end game level 50 content. If they sink too much money into doing voice overs then they don't have that same money to spend on end game content. Since the majority of the servers are PvP, the end game content for PvP has got to be rock solid in order for subs to continue. I will keep playing SWTOR, but there are other games on the horizon that will draw subs away. Without PvPers this game could be in jeopardy of giving end game content or voice overs. So I would rather then give us great end game content, and then go back and do voice overs. The amount of players that would leave over not having voice overs are probably smaller than the amount of players that will leave over having no good end game PvP. Less subs = less money for all areas of development; therefor we need good end game PvP so the voice overs can continue; they just can't continue right now.
  5. I appreciate your desire for a more linear play fashion, and that is a great thing. This is why we need PvE servers. But an MMO will have competition even on PvE servers. The issue at hand though is not one of should they have voice overs or not - the issue at hand is should they have spent money on the voice overs instead of creating better end game content. Since they have already spent the money on the story line voice overs from 1-50 I would like them to say NO to any more voice overs and spend that money on creating better end game content. IF (that's a big if) they could have their cake and eat it too, then I would say yes to voice overs for the game (they do add a bit of flavor) but they can't do it at the expense of the end game content.
  6. No not self entitled; but when players start leaving and they look to the community to ask what they can do - then my voice will still be here asking for guild vs guild PvP. I have no delusions of grandeur, just the understanding that the minority that speaks is normally the minority that changes the game. MMOs = PvP - it has been that way dating all the way back to UO. It was the PvErs that bastardized MMORPGs, not PvPers. So by all logic if SWTOR wants to be a true MMO then they must cater to the PvPers. Now all kidding/joking aside I realize there are many types of play styles that are in this game we know as SWTOR. I am not enough of a ***** to take away all other styles to suit my own. I do feel they could spend their money more wisely and not continue with the voice overs for end game content.
  7. I bought a game that I want to see changed to fit my style of PvP. This is the only available Star Wars game on the market, close to an MMO. I would rather them spend money on fixing the PvP so at least that play style will continue to get better. I'm not looking forward to GW2 because they are trying to do away with roles. No we need game companies to go back to foundations of PvP like UO, DaoC, SB and EvE. I used the space bar a lot in my leveling.
  8. I never played Warhammer. I come from games like EvE or Shadowbane. It costs money to do the voice overs, and at end game they are unneeded. I would rather see the money spent on fixing the poor state of PvP.
  9. Vent/TS3/Mumble are usually for guilds and usually someone within the guild pays for x amount of slots. EvE is unique in that they actually created an in game VOIP system. I'm not sure if Star Wars has what you are looking for. Try finding a guild or 2 to hang out with on Vent.
  10. Yes please, ditch the ongoing story all together along with the voice cinematics. Start making a good guild vs guild PvP planet. One planet that had guild vs guild PvP, similar to Shadowbane, would keep me subbing for years. I don't need the story, I don't need the voices; what I do need is good guild PvP, namely asset destruction and city management.
  11. Why can't George Zoeller be the PvP lead designer - I know it's a totally different system, but at least he understands that PvP can be fast paced. That's better than thinking that Ilum is ok right now.
  12. Yeah it was BW's bad design. The problem as I see it, is that it takes too long to get the 30 kills to complete the Ilum daily. Capturing 5 control points was a much simpler system. They should have just added the ability to kill the opposing faction and have it count towards the needed 5 captured control points. We needed another way to get to the 5, not a whole revamped system. Because it takes so long to get the daily 30 (and because the valor is better in Ilum) Ilum is taking away players from the warzones. Kind of Ironic really when you think about players saying how the warzones or arenas would take away from world PvP. The problem is this world zone is not fun. Ilum is just a grind now, now fun. Bring back the fun of Shadowbane and stop looking to WoW for ideas.
  13. Yeah I can understand why my operative expends energy to use his knife attacks, but why do I expend energy when firing my rifle?
  14. I stated I know too many people would not like it. I personally would love it, but it would be bad for the overall design of the current player base.
  15. Most times my flight took me into or out of 0.0 or losec space - no I was at the helm at all times. If I had a freighter I was always at the controls. My point still stands, that it took time to move across systems in EvE. So even in SWTOR put up multiple jump points/nav points around each planet that then lead to the station and from station to planet, that would still be more fun than an instant "zoom" to the planet. Traveling to different planets should take time, and should be an investment. The whole linear feel of SWTOR is wrong for an MMO; but I like a sandbox and not amusement parks.
  16. I would love this just for basic travel between planets. Make an interplanetary journey take about 30 minutes; but then too many people would cry it takes too long to get somewhere. I loved that about EvE, flying across space actually felt like you were flying across space. In the spaceship missions I don't know if we will get off the training wheels any time soon.
  17. Yeah I don't like BoP or BoE; if it can be used, it should be able to used by anyone. It creates problems I'm sure, but not enough to warrant just abolishing the whole system; well maybe except for armoring/mods/enhancements etc. maybe those should stay BoE.
  18. Each planet in SWTOR should really be the same size as a single server in WoW. Hopefully the new planets will be that way, and then they need to add guild vs guild PvP on those planets. But yeah they have a lot of terrain real estate it's just spread out across many planets. I think that the universe would feel more expansive if you didn't just "zoom" to a new planet. I would love to see it take 30 minutes to travel from one planet to the next along a major hyperspace route. But that would require actual space for the ships to fly in. It would be a great dimension to the game, which could lead to epic space battles, and maybe that is in queue for the future. The main thing that makes the worlds feel small to me is the lack of freedom in being able to go anywhere I choose to go. I hate linear games, where I'm lead down a story (and yes I would use space bar to level as quickly as possible). Tatooine feels large, because of the desert, but then they have exhaustion zones in the middle of weird places.
  19. I want to see you walk from your house to your car in 1 click. Honestly it creates a lot of immersion for me, and I'm fine with that, in fact I like it and would appreciate it if it stays. It makes me choose where I want to go, because I know it takes time, and since my time is valuable I am placing value on where I go by clicking through all those doors. I like having things in a game feel valuable. So no I think the system is perfect.

    3 Faction System

    You don't even need 3 factions if you allow for straight up guild vs guild. Making things guild vs guild solves all the faction problems for PvP. You don't have faction imbalances with guilds and you don't have a gear grind necessary with guilds. Just give guilds a few planets to play on and allow the rule set on those planets to be like Outlaw's Den. Allow guilds to build their own cities like in Shadowbane. Allow guilds to fight over resources on the planet...........Just make a better game for guild PvP.
  21. WoW is not classic. UO, EQ, DaoC, Asheron's Call, Shadowbane - those are classic. Age of Conan, Vanguard, WoW, Rift - those are not classic. So stop building a game to compete with WoW, just build a cool Star Wars PvP game that people would play.
  22. They did this in Shadowbane years ago. You had an individual bank - that you could access at different NPCs, and you had an account bank. The Account bank could only be accessed in Sea Dogs Rest. This would be great, and would reduce the amount of mail going back and forth between alts. Of course what do you do with cross-faction alts?
  23. Granted it may not be something we would see for 6 months. But at this point what do they have to lose? They are already making huge mistakes with the PvP community, and that bad press is causing problems. I'm keeping my sub, because I would love to see something like this implemented, and I hope that BioWare will look into a new type of PvP other than WoW. @BioWare - WoW was successful because it didn't have the competition, and it was the first MMO that many younger gamers played. WoW has never been the best game for PvP though - the niche games that die out quicker than WoW has have always been better for PvP. Shadowbane, DaoC, UO, EvE all have better PvP than WoW.
