  1. if you dont have pvp gear then any gear 190 and less (so long as any modifiable gear has all mod slots filled) will bolster to 1936 white gear from starter world works and the green 190 kofte gear sells on gtn cheap the 190 works well enough and you can kinda "poor mans" get some stats you kinda want but getting the max expertise is more important than stats pvp 204 is easy enough to get (maybe a weekend of pvp); 208 takes 20kish comms
  2. since you have come to the forums you are heading in the right direction i would venture to pvp forums and read up on the stickies- "how to be a contender"- esp w/ regards to bolster in biowares attempt to make pvp more accessible to players it has made it confusing and contradictory in short, bolster makes any gear (up to rating 190 pve gear) pvp compatible you can bolster pve gear up to 1936 expertise (max non pvp gear) once your pve gear gets over 190 your bolstered expertise begins to nosedive as far as toxicity, well, it is pvp, you are on the forums and probably have a thicker skin than you realize read up on the stickies and keep que'ing fwiw- the peeps raging at you were probably similarly raged at for the same reasons and are just acting out this bolster thing has been a thorn for new players for a couple of years now welcome back
  3. Luckily, i didnt need to go through the bit raider steps because i have already had to deal with that Best advice i got on these forums was to buy a hardcopy of the game from amazon and reinstall (i was lucky that i got a new pc and was able to just start from scratch) This command promt help just worked wonders- didnt speed up tons but it was continuous (though i had to pause/play maybe 2 or 3 times) thanks for fix and to all those who have the bit raider client either follow the instrucions or if you have minimal pc skills- just get the original cd of swtor
  4. about a year ago i was having issues with the bit raider client i checked threads and stopped messing around with things and just bought a hard copy of the game from amazon for $10 never had an issue since with 3.0 or 4.0 or the numerous patches associated with the expansions
  5. i havent played my op's much in 4.0 and yes, their damage/surge has been nerfed and in some ways this makes them even trollier as those knife and punching sounds and laughs just keep coming- instead of being knocked out by a heavyweight it's like a featherweight just constantly peppering; op's are still a nightmare 1v1 esp in fights on nodes when the main battle is away somewhere else- this is their forte other than the stealthers the madness sorc is totally self sufficient; good in 1v1 (except versus those op's who cleanse the dots); good node guards; basically- a jack of all trades whenever i log on my lowbies it is the snipers who run the show there tends to be at least a couple of them and most pug groups fail to focus them for whatever reason for node work- defending, assaulting, delaying- the op is one of the best; throw in the bonus of being one of the better huttball carriers just adds to the trollolrofl factor of this class imo

    Mercs new FOTM?

since ive been playing this game ('12 ish) it was always stated that mercs were trash so i stayed away from them - then one day i rolled a commando and started q'ing - goodness- the damage output was tremendous; couple this with the constant merc/mando degredation and many peeps didnt even appear to know what a mercmando even was then, as lancelot demonstrates, all the fun runs out when the other team actually decides to pay attention to you (or just that one good jugg or mara) so i guess the merc has a nice novelty factor for the unintiated and they do fine in regs as many know but of all the classes i think the merc is most dependent on a decent team to help them shine- esp at 65- in 10-40 mercs can stomp fo' sho essentially, not much has changed from before but new and old players are playing mercmando and many others are having to figure out what these fiendish glass cannons are all about
  7. Are you going to be exclusively solo q'ing- or will you have a group to q with? If you have a group then anything will work but if you are totally solo then some work better than others The op is taylor made for trolling; if you seek to annoy then go with this- hard to kill and pin down these bastards roll ang giggle their way to top spot on the annoyance ladder Sins/shadows are another lone-wolf class but not necessarily "trolly" The madness sorc is a solo q'rs dream class- "trolly" in the sense that you can face tank and can turn the tide in many pug groups; your dot spread with strong off healing make this class a sort of "field general" where you can definitely impact the game Also- in 10-64 - a sniper can have it's fair share of trolly by putting out insane damage and being tough to get to for most classes early on
  8. To be specific the "vendor" right next to the mission terminal just sells "pve" weapons you can buy with "pvp" comms The "pvp" vendors are the class specific ones in the area behind the terminal- check them out to see what you are working for when you get to 65- this is the real "pvp" gear You do not want to fart around with "pvp" expertise crystals until you get the "uncrystaled" level 65 main hand weapon and focus/shield pvp gear Save all your comms- the only things you want to buy with comms before 65 are wz medpacs and adrenals
  9. Fwiw it is not necessary to upgrade gear if you are just doing warzones The difference in stats between white gear one can get on korriban and "min/maxed" lowbie 190 gear is minimal at best The only "lowbie twink" gear would be if you have the old level 60 pvp gear with the set bonus and 2018 expertise No need to upgrade gear at all unless you find yourself on a planet doing quests and you sense yourself being gimped- for me this might happen around level 41 where i want to power level out of the "cannon fodder" level of the 41-64 bracket For all group finder stuff and pvp warzones level 10 gear and having every slot filled is all you need till 65

  11. OP is demonstrating the need for an ability which allows peeps to insta kill own faction players This ability can be on a 96 hr cd but make it happen yesterday
  12. One thing this permasemimediocre baddie recognizes is on weekends the extremes become more noticeable Way more newbie and noobies in regs- all brackets During the week I can enjoy lowbies- even try to help out but when weekend comes all bets are off- I only solo q- have no friends in game but love wz's and will continue to q but my blood pressure raises considerably sat and sun The problem I'm noticing more and more is the cynicism- what is point of capping and guarding a node when no help ever comes to reinforce it?- for example- so, objective play becomes tedious, unfulfilling, and a waste so why not just treat wz as a derpytrainimg dummy. Unfortunately, many new players just "learn" to facetank mid, south, etc regardless of situation; I also believe many new pvprs have no idea what interacting with nodes even is- "WAT NODZ precious??" I admit I get p.o'd all the time- I'll q on my heals and intentionally run to cap our natural node (because no one else will) and spend the whole time dancing and spamming my heals on myself as rest of team continues to die respawn and charge mid- not to mention spamming heals before wz on "tanks," asking for guard, etcetcetc At the end of the day I don't begrudge premades- it's just on weekends where getting a random team who can play takes much longer on weekend than during the week

    Republic or Empire

Since one can roll both factions on a server (never liked this btw) get one of each Great players on both sides and plenty of derp to go around Personally, I just care about pops- some servers take up to 30 min for a wz pop others can be less than a couple mins so whichever is popping faster is what I go with
  14. It really seems as though people are surprised other players inhabit their gaming safe zones- who would have thought that grouping (even if only for 30 seconds) could benefit all parties in an mmo One thing to try is to change instances Or you can wish, like I do, that players will receive a "insta kill" friendly player ability- maybe on a one week cd- to vent frustration
  15. Doesn't matter For one- so much of the game is bolstered so level one white gear is fine for wz's and fp's Level appropriate cheapo greenies are more than adequate to fill any gaps for any "on planet" activities you may do I'm of the mind that as long as your slots are all filled you'll be fine- if you start getting into level 40's and higher and are "struggling" with planet mobs then maybe get some gear up to date Since I only pvp many of my sub 65 toons are in their starter greys and whites with left side ear, implants, and relics those ones you get from the starter warzones quest
  16. GTN game is one of the main reasons I play the game Crafting in 4.0 is not appealing to me but I had tons of junk in cargo holds to sell on gtn For some deranged reason I find this entertaining GTN has been borked since my, apparently ill advised, return to game I really just want those in charge of the game to fess up- admit the game runs on a skeleton crew and there will be very little done to fix the assorted bugs ever
  17. I am returning to 4.0 after a break (began end of summer) I would consider myself a "somewhat knowledgable casual" Prior to 4.0 I had maybe 200-250 million across my legacy doing little more than "mmo economy basics"- namely saving every credit and not spending anything not necessary and much of what psandak had listed in his sigs With my time in 4.0 I'm glad I have those reserves- crew skills are on low maintenance atm- I am mainly selling out cargo holds when I log on veterans I'm not running very many crew skill missions at all and many brand new toons don't bother getting crew skills My new toons have no reason- they get paid playing the game and just from vendoring and gtn'ing my loot they are fine All I log on for this game anymore is to pvp reg warzones and the game, in its current form, allows me to do that I'm glad the crafters are doing what they do too- on harbinger the prices for max level kits and augments is competitively priced so I can get my toons in 99.9% of the gear needed to do the game at a good cost

    A PvP a Day...

To play a good sin I have always tried to think like a sin Trying to match the output of truly good sin/shadow is a fools errand- instead- try to see one thing that you can incorporate- for example- how the good sins utilize spike and aggressive vs defensive use of combat stealth (which I still derp on my hatred sin if I don't pay attention to who's still dotted) Another thing with the sin is "paying your dues" with regards to your sin"iness"- have you spent a week just solo node guarding? Learning how to 1v1 that one dude, controlling a 1v2 at the node, etc- and no group q'ing- learn your sin away from all your friends- it is a solitary role
  19. I would settle for an instanced pvp similar to an old school alterac valley with as many players the game can handle And a purely mishmash of rep/sith vs same in wz's (cross faction) Fwiw- i just play to do regs in all brackets and can live fine with that but I'd love me some big pvp

    Guardian DPS pvp

If you are a good player you can make guardian work well in most scenarios of the game If you are the kind of pvp'r who plays regs in all brackets, only solo q's, and accepts the highs and lows of it all ( that's what I am at least) guardians are solid(being able to skank tank in regs is strong for any dps that can) plus the chaos you can cause is considerable- however- Regs, as they are, will frustrate you on a guardian with lack of heals whenever you que your jugg/guard and that abuse from range which is prevalent For those rare times when the stars align- a competent team with a few more leapers and heals your guardian will feel invincible- more, IMO, than any other class "feel wise"
  21. You need to put in the expertise crystals in weapons and offhands
  22. Switch pvp tiers more than faction Things are bad on 60's go to 59's or 29's I have a few in each tier that I rotate all the time Been on harbinger long enough to know that goods and bads are everywhere and there are options

    Lowbie bolster

As long as every slot is filled So you need to work in lowbies to get your implants earpiece and relics (I get the lowbie matrix cube because I get it sooner than a light/dark side) The quality of the gear is much less important I have toons in the 55+ level range still wearing stuff I had in the 29's I only "upgraded" when I would pve quest to bust out some levels Lots of it is greens; and many greens look cool too In fact- my "sith training blade"- that level 5 white item that a sorc can comes across on korriban bolsters better than an at level weapon Especially at lowbie getting higher expertise is most important to success Stats much less so
  24. I rarely kill an op 1v1 but on the rare occasion I do I am putting force slow on them constantly But most of the time it's a fools errand since they can mitigate the dots so well-
  25. I don't hate pvp- I hate many of the things players do I hate cap and bailers I hate dps who have 0 protection I can't stand when players behave as though a death in a wz might lead to a "irl" death- otherwise why...? Can't stand defensive medal farmers on sole node when the game is less than 1:30 in I hate the 5v1 at mid and the dupes still can't cap it/defend it
