  1. ok, here is what this noob has noticed playing lowbie warzones i've been consciously trying to use it (guard and taunt) more, making it a part of my "rotation/priority") and having much success usually, when the game starts i'll be in the rear; when the action gets thick somewhere ill guard the dude getting focused run into the fray and fire off the aoe taunt - then ill enrage and start to go after enemies with the lowest bars - finally trying to execute the "kill or be killed" gameplay- before using taunt and guard i would pretty much start every wz (other than capping in novare or civil war) rushing the first red target i could hit with my charge and fail from there- totally downhill from the beginning personally, i find taunt and guard gimmicky but it keeps your teammates alive and makes the enemy go "***" for a moment or two (at least now i understand why some enemies, all of a sudden, dont seem to take damage) - and you get lots of medals for it it is definitely going to require new keybinds and target of target stuff but one needs to do what is required
  2. noob that i am, i am just starting to get familiar with taunt and guard as a level 34 veng jugg sure, i use it in pve to get mobs to attack me and i throw guard on the healer then quickly forget about it my question is: how do you veteran juggies use your taunts and guards in the warzone environment and how do you juggle this with the other abilities and whatnots? any help is much appreciated
  3. thanks again--- i just got off the game after spending many hours pruning and rearranging the interface-- much better now and my jugg is much appreciative
  4. nice vid! one question- how do you get all your action bars in the middle? and, as a result, turn the vertical ones horizontal? as a budding vengeance newb i'm running out of space rapidly and need to organize binds and whatnots
  5. i agree with this for making credits on a new toon , the leveling of slicing is more profitable than it is at 400 slicing the lockboxes almost always make more money than the cost of the mission and the lowbie crits nearly always sell quite well on the gtn; the missions are quick and one can spam them (at 400 they take an hour and unless you are farming for yourself it is quite meh) i am trying to level treasure hunting and underworld trading at the same time and from 1-400 there is much more upside in slicing (for pure credits) ; i guess with treasure hunting i can give my companions gifts but i cant stand my companions other than khem - as for making credits i am not noticing the spikes i had from slicing; i havent really started underground trading yet so i cant say
  6. not having an automatic attached "vendor" price to any item in inventory for an easy quick reference (ffs i'm using paper and pencil and calculators to list my crap on gtn only to have mailbox filled with "item listing expired" everyday) having a "per item" pricing option for listing my goods (again need the calculator for this) having a "shift-click" to quickly search for an item the notion of the 80/20 rule (80% of profit from 20% of listed items) is more like 98%-2% and having a tool which attaches the vendor price of items you are dealing with in the gtn would save a lot of time and make the process much more efficient

    Neutral

this is one of the potential game breakers or game savers for me this game was touted as the game where the experience evolves based on the choices you make a somewhat nostalgic/anecdotal lookback on kotor 1 and 2 had me remembering that missions could be very subtlety woven where there were consequences within a chain for making "darkside," "lightside," and "neutral" choices throughout a questline - swtor is more like dao where the sense of deep choice is really an illusion - truly thinking things out to fit your character many times results in net neutral - a gimped net neutral at that i was hoping the different choices would take a quest into totally different realms - not the next room over or kill all the victims quickly (lightside) or let them agonize (darkside) the current result is to either herpderp sociopath dark or wussy goodie goodie light if the developers can make this work properly then swtor has a bright future
  8. having all players force-sensitive is the only to explain how we can all kill each other otherwise, they would have to rewrite the entire canon to put snipers and troopers at the top of the food chain
  9. i could totally see a parody of episode 4 from the perspective of a newbie sith warrior playing "vader" during a class mission the dialogue wheel and the indecision/vacillation of the player deciding the fate of leia's ship captain force choke - 100 darkside see his side of the story - 100 lightside reason with him for the location of the plans - nothing we can then see the subsequent spacebarring and "esq" when a scene doesnt happen as it was thought etc etc
  10. well, if bioware opened up the possibilities of the cantina (curiously, a place of social interaction) then social points could be had cantina "caraoke" pazaak tourneys etc etc until then, the easiest way is to spam black talon runs with a high level group this will get you to level 2 soon enough
  11. i am a level 36 sith sorc specced in the corruption tree (with the five points in lightening for the extra force) i have only done two flashpoints (cademinu) and both times have felt very helter skelter ------- i have healed in mmo's before so i'm not a total noob but i an totally unfamiliar with the new flashpoints so i figure i just go with the flow and deal.... the problem both times is every other member of the group runs in a different direction and aggros a different set of mobs - i am essentially healing 3 "tanks" simultaneously; both supposed/marked tanks have never pulled aggro for me and most group members seem oblivious how they are staying alive - when i eventually draw the ire of all involved said mobs i end up spending the rest of the pull healing myself hardcore while trying to dish out an occasional shield and resurgence i almost feel we would do better if i let khem tank (at least khem keeps aggro on himself and off me) and i heal him the whole time and let the dps do what they must is this common for you veteran swtor healers out there? is it common for the groups not to know their roles? just looking for some tips for getting through the growing pains thanks

    Griefing inside a WZ?

i thought this thread would be about some kind of exploit/hack resulting in an unfair advantage or something ------ as it is- sure, it sucks to be focused and beat down but as many posters responded - this can be a good thing if used the right way i roll a healer and i am picked on the whole game - if, for some reason i'm not, we usually win the wz quickly - so it comes with the territory to be focused as a healer i really dont worry on an enemy player 's "griefing" as i am focused on my own team dishing out heals; if there happens to be an enemy focusing on me- i can often times get my team to help out just by being visible enough and near the heat of the action the flip side to this is being on a team full of derp who doesnt even know they are getting healed and that there is even a healer present... c'est la vie in these games i try to see if i can outheal the damage and work on cc and sprinting to a heal point before i die (a personal victory which undoubtedly causes more of the "red mist" to accrue within the "griefer") if all else fails try to trip them up with emotes

    pvp healing help

thanks for the responses i should have mentioned i do use the ops frame and the main problems (as mentioned by some posters - was selecting the ops frame and not getting "in range heals" because of los and/or having multiple "falling health bars" and not being able to figure out who my guys are because of the long names thanks for the advice regarding the poor sap in the middle of the fray - i'll just let him die honorably and rez in a few seconds i will keep fiddling with the targeting keybinds to try and alleviate the frustration thanks again for responses and i will check those other threads the mouse wheel down = next friendly seems exactly what i need -- thx
  14. instead of gw2 i would suggest a spelling class especially if the topic of thread is "morons" .23/10 for troll

    pvp healing help

i'm new to swtor this week but not new to mmo's in general my main gripe with healing in warzones are the long and confusing titles that make it near impossible to target the correct player to heal amongst all the confusion as i look at the player who needs a shield and a heal quickly lose life i check my ui frames and the names are very difficult to match in the heat of pvp battle due to the titles confounding the situation another thing that sort of bugs is my own static barrier interferes with "clicking" on a target - friendly/enemy- thus the reliance on the ui frames to get heals off maybe this is just me being a newb and all but does anyone else have the same problem? is there a way to turn off other players titles so when player "Herpderp" needs a heal i'm not looking at "Wonderfully Fabulous Sentient Herpderp King of the Empire" in the ui frame?
  16. frankly, i like the heroic group function as it "forces" us to socialize as we quest with people on our server that being said - a summoning feature at the area of the heroic is a decent suggestion especially in those regions where there are multiple layers (as op points out)
  17. ^^^^ this x1000 another thing would be to list the "vendor price" of selling an item so as to quickly reference and make a decent "buyout price" in the gtn the "recommended" price is many times 300% higher than vendor price and most of those players buying the items are crafters - not players looking to upgrade (since it is so dang easy to upgrade without working too hard)- i, therefore, end up vendoring nearly everything rather than listing it in gtn because of all the cross-referencing and what not needed to list a "good price" (a price that is profitable and successful - i hate a full mailbox of unsold items)
  18. first week on tor and this was one of the first things i noticed too
  19. i have just started the game this week my main gripe about starships is the utility my starship could easily be replaced by just taking a shuttle from fleet to my next planet and save some loading screens in the process i realize the game has limited capacity but getting one's starship should be a momentous occasion but, tbh, my ships in kotor 1 and 2 were much more enjoyable however, i could get over most of this if my ship itself was just a little more interactive (i'm thinking along the lines of shep's personal quarters in me2) and many of the suggestions brought up by op address this (especially the points regarding automatic screen loading upon entering) for example: i would love to listen to some music in my own personal quarters and be able to summon my companions there to discuss their performance i would at least like to "fly" my starship if only to select a region on the galaxy map and then cruise around (a la me2) to the planets and points of interest within said region i would like my companions to move around on the ship as a sith inquisitor i personally get annoyed at andronicus standing so nonchalantly that i wish i could force lightening the slacker and khem should be restless wanting to get back to feeding on my victims i understand the growing pains of a new game in its first year of release but there was so much hype with the personal starship that to say i was let down is an understatement
